I worked with Ellen at the Agoura animal shelter where she worked to socialize and care for shelter dogs. She was an amazingly compassionate and intuitive dog handler, she has a real gift with animals. I highly recommend her services.

Ellen is a fabulous dog trainer, my 80lbs shepherd mix loves her and her dog, Skittles.
I would totally recommend Ellen for anyone looking for a caring, professional dog trainer. My dog Kodiak has changed from a shy, jumpy, abandoned, scared puppy to a beautiful, well behaved maturing 2 year old. I can't say enough about Ellen's knowledge and insight into animal behavior and how it has enlightened me and my family. We are changed dog owners as a result of knowing Ellen. More...

Ellen is absolutely the best! When we brought home our Portuguese Water Dog, Ellen worked with our whole family (so important for our kids! ) to help us all learn how to adapt to our new family member. We had behavioral issues with Benny and Ellen knew exactly what the root causes were and how to address them. More...

Ellen is the best! Ellen is a knowledgeable , experienced behavioral trainer who really knows her stuff. She came in and helped turn around my resource guarding maltipoo. She immediately figured out what was going on and worked with me and my puppy to solve the problem. Thanks Ellen! More...

I met Ellen thru my Vet. to help with my Briard and her reactivity towards dogs on a leash. This is something I have been dealing with for 4 years. She gave me many tools to use when out where other dogs were present that have helped me so much learn to understand the “fear” she is going thru.
You cannot do this on your own. Ellen observes how you handle your leash and your timing THIS is the key to your success.
Our walks and interactions are so much better now .

Ellen is an incredible dog trainer! She is very knowledgeable, professional, and genuinely cares about her clients. She worked with our shepherd mix, Luna, who had severe separation anxiety and stranger danger. Ellen was very patient with Luna, as she worked to gain her trust and build her confidence. Ellen was readily available to answer all of our questions and address our concerns, and we learned so much from working with her. Luna is now able to stay home alone while we are at work, walk confidently on a leash, and play with other dogs at the dog park. We are also able to have visitors over without Luna’s ceaseless barking. We are so thankful for Ellen’s help, and highly recommend her services! More...

Q&As

There’s a quote about having “your heart in your business and your business in your heart” and that describes me very much as a professional dog trainer. I love teaching and educating my clients - both the humans and the dogs!

I began my career in dog training by volunteering at the Los Angeles County Animal Shelter in Agoura Hills. It was here that I experienced first hand the tremendous variety of breeds, dispositions, and behavior issues. I also realized how just a little bit of training could have a huge impact on the dog and their future families.

Inspired by the transformations at the shelter – and most importantly from my own dog Beatrix (RIP) – I soon began devoting my time to working with dogs on a professional level. I left the music industry after 20+ years and have absolutely loved working as a professional dog trainer ever since.

I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA) and Certified Behavior Adjustment Training Instructor (CBATI). I am the BAT Program Coordinator for Grisha Stewart where I oversee the BAT Certification for trainers all around the world. I am an admin/moderator for the Official BAT Facebook Group and Grisha Stewart’s Animal Building Blocks Academy FB Group, monitoring training advice and content related to dog behaviors. In addition to my private training, I am the first instructor to offer group classes on Reactivity for spcaLA – Long Beach.

Outside of private training, I am the Resident Dog Trainer for Fetch! Pet Care, the nation’s largest franchise of pet sitting and dog walking services. Look for my Fetch! monthly FB Live segments, and tips on their FB page.

Collaborating with other trainers is key to growth as a trainer. I am honored to be the 2017 co-facilitator of the Southern California Dog Trainers Forum where trainers from all over Southern CA attend our monthly presentations, and informative discussions.
