Nick is awesome at what he does and the approaches he uses. He had my out of control 1.5 year old Belgian Malinois under his thumb in an hour! I can't wait for her to go through his 2 week board and train program, as the results will be nothing short of amazing. Nick truly has a way with dogs and his gift is undeniable!! I highly recommend Ears-UpK9 for all of your dogs training needs. More...

Dropped my 14-week-old Bernese Mountain Dog off last week for the 7-day board with Nick. I could not be happier with the result. Moose now responds consistently to sit, down, wait, stay, come, place, and enters his crate whenever I say "house". Additionally, one of the major problems we were having with him was his play biting. After training with Nick, the improvement was a night and day difference. When I picked him up, Nick took the time to do a professional turnover and teach me what I needed to know to continue Moose's training. It has been a week since I've had him back and Moose has continued to be very responsive to all commands. The 7-day boarding course was well worth the money to build a strong baseline that I can further build upon. He came back as the same happy pup, only significantly more obedient. Highly recommended if you want your puppy to listen to you!!! Thanks again. More...

I sent my 5 month old German Shepherd to Nick for the 1 week board and train and I’m so glad I did. I was getting very frustrated with her nipping and jumping. It was also important to me that she be able to walk on a leash without pulling. He did an amazing job with her. He also trained us so that we could enforce everything she learned over week. Nick helped us realize that we were not being consistent with our training or commands. I can see now that we were unknowingly reenforcing bad behavior. Mary is very smart and loves to learn so I knew she wasn’t just being bad. We just needed to know how to speak her language. Nick speaks her language and she excelled with him. He even sent her home with some tricks! Mary is still testing us some, as Nick said she would. However, we feel much more confident in training her and are very happy with Nick’s work. More...

Nick did such an amazing job with our dog Diesel. Diesel spent a week with Nick in his board and train program and returned home a different dog. Nick had his work cut out for him with Diesel. He can be a bit moody and is sometimes aggressive with other animals. So we were a little nervous sending him over knowing that Nick had 2 dogs. Nick was not the least bit concerned and always had things under control. We definitely have to do our homework and continue to reinforce what Diesel was taught in his time with Nick. But, we could not have done this on our own. What took him under a week could have probably never been accomplished on our own. We went from feeling helpless to hopeful. We could not be more happy with Ears-Up K9, it was well worth the investment. More...

Lady did a 7 day board and train with Nick. She, now, consistently waits for her food/water, waits in her kennel until released (even with the door open), goes into her kennel when told to and waits very well at all entrances. She is proficient in both her sit and down. Great recall work was done and a lot of progress with walking on leash. I am very happy with all the work Nick has done with her. He’s an amazing trainer with lots of background experience. He’s taught me a lot and in such a short amount of time of knowing him. I brought my 2 year old GSD mix to Nick, after we tried another training program without any luck. I wasn’t comfortable handling my dog (he’s big! ) and had started to avoid everyday situations (i.e. crossing the street to avoid people/dogs, only going the park or beach at certain times, etc.), as I felt like I couldn’t predict his behavior. Nick trained my dog via board and train with the e-collar. As part of training, he also took him out in public, like to the park and Home Depot. Since he’s come home, it’s been such a big change! Both my dog and I learned a skill set; I now know how to better handle him and he is responsive when I give him a command. I think what makes Nick different than other trainers is his experience combined with his philosophy: exercise, affection, respect, success. You can actually watch him working these 4 components from the consultation forward. It’s pretty neat to see. If you’re having issues, it‘s worth having Nick help you get yourself and your buddy squared away. You can go from just getting by, to a space where both you and your dog are happier and less stressed. More...

Nick came highly recommended by our veterinarian Ophthalmologist after our babies got into a tiff. Finding myself in the typical military wife situation, I did not know how to bring my babies back together by myself. So I sought out professional help. Other trainers just wanted to take the three dogs for two weeks and blame what happened on my large dog. Nick was about finding out the reason as to why it happened and how to fix it, allowing me to be a part of it. Because I knew that I had a part I played in the build up to our dogs tiff. In order for me to feel confident in my three babies being in the same room again, I knew I was going to need as much if not more training than my dogs. With this being said I am elated to say that with one season with Nick were able to see our girls laying side by side. With the tools I have learned from our first season, I continue to work with our dogs separately and together by myself. Each time I gain more confidence. I definitely highly recommend contacting Nick for your fur babies and yourself before you think of re-homing. More...

Nick is a miracle worker. We brought our 12 week old German Shepherd pup to him for board and train and she came back as a different dog barely over a week later. First, he helped us out big time by accommodating an odd schedule request so that it worked out perfectly for a 10 day period we were going to be away. Rather than boarding her somewhere and having him train her at a later date, he worked it out to where he had her the whole time and worked with her for longer than normal for not a great deal more money than the normal package. The flexibility and willing to work with us was awesome and much appreciated. Second, the results were amazing. She was as green/raw as pups come and knew zero commands and was a bit...all over the place. 10 days later, she can sit, stay, lay, walk on a leash, looks for eye contact and waits for verbal commands, sits and waits behind us to enter doorways until called, sits in her crate even after opened until we call her out, sits and waits for food/water, doesn’t nip constantly which is huge as we have two small kids, the list goes on and on. He worked with her on all these different areas, gave us a typed up report of things they covered and how to continue reinforcing the training, then demonstrated each and had us go through them as he gave feedback as well. Aside from those training results, her personality is that of a different dog not even two weeks later. Calmer, smarter, more obedient. Nick works pure magic. These results in 10 weeks would’ve been super solid, 10 days is insane. Third, the value. Compared to once a week stop-in places, I guess some consumers could raise a brow at the price. Apples and oranges comparison. To say you get what you pay for with Nick at Ears Up would be a huge understatement. If you want to try to save money and go to a class once a week with 10 other dogs and get minimal lasting results, that’s your call. If you want to pay a very fair price for a service that he could literally charge 2-3x more for, hire Nick to train your dog. The value is incredible and early training for your dog is a legit investment that’ll payoff for years to come. Can’t thank you enough Nick and will definitely be in touch for more follow up training!! More...
