Dancin' Shoes DJ & Lighting

Vance was absolutely phenomenal during our wedding day. We had a 55 person wedding with audiences of all ages and musical tastes. Prior to our wedding, Vance met up with us to discuss song options, vibe thoughts etc and kept us feeling comfortable that he knew what to do and how to keep a positive atmosphere.

During the day of, the venue staff basically left. I'm not sure if people quit that morning over something or what, but our coordinator completely dissapeared, the cake wasn't put out..tons of issues with the staff..

But Vance and his awesome DJ skills ran with it! He took care of all the schedules and coordination. Let everybody know about 10 minutes out (with a 5 min reminder) when the next event was coming up (such as the cake cutting, bouquet toss etc) and really just completely killed it.
Everybody in my wedding party felt that Vance did an exceptional job keeping a good fun beat on the dance floor and kept the music appropriate to the audience.

When we did a couple line dances, Vance jumped right in and easily showed everybody how to do the moves and just made this fun.

I can honestly say that if Vance weren't there, my wedding would have been terrible. He saved the night, he made the day, and he's just an awesome dude to deal with.

Mike was so awesome. A good DJ is a make or break at a wedding in my opinion, and Mike MADE our wedding! He kept the dance floor packed from the first dance to the last and had some awesome suggestions to keep the party going. Michael was an excellent DJ for our wedding! He was so friendly and quick to responses while we were planning, and then at the wedding he did a great job organizing the music I gave him with the requests that the guests had. We got many compliments on how good our DJ was. He transitioned between songs so that there was never a lull in the music. We danced for hours. Mike did a great job. He does more than start a playlist. He made sure we stuck to our timeline and got to do everything we wanted. He even created first dance song! It started off as a waltz, then a cheesy disc scratch happened, and the "Day Man Song" from 'Always Sunny' played and we danced to that. He was great and kept the energy up the whole time. I had such a great experience working with Michael for my wedding back in September. He was very friendly and helpful throughout the planning process. He was also very flexible with our venue, and made the trip to Keystone twice to do a walkthrough after they had closed the gondolas due to weather the first time we were supposed to meet. The Most Amazing Day EVER! After 29 years of partnership, Bill and I married on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Willow Ridge Manor, in Morrison, Colorado. Vance of Dancing Shoes DJ & Lighting was our DJ and he took the time before the wedding to get to know us and ensure the music would be personalized and fitting for us and our guests. Michael is the best DJ you could ever hire!! He was very responsive to my emails/phone calls, met with me and my mom before we hired him, and was flexible in meeting our contract agreement. His personality is very outgoing and perfect in easing the stress level that comes with planning a wedding. He emailed me a "mock schedule" and recommendations of music. He also came to the walk-through at the venue to go over the layout of everything. I absolutely love music and he was more than willing to organize all my music needs to flow smoothly during the wedding. His MC service was priceless! We recently worked with Dancin Shoes DJ for our daughter's wedding in Evergreen, CO. Our DJ/MC/Lighting Expert was Michael - and we can't begin to thank him enough for making our special occasion a HUGE success! Michael was absolutely remarkable . . . He had the perfect DJ voice, was very entertaining, engaging, got our guests involved, played requested tunes, and most importantly, took the initiative to completely RUN THE SHOW. My company hired Mike for our corporate Holiday Party, We had approximately 600 people at our event just for reference. He did a fantastic job from start to finish. During setup he gave us the idea of lighting the pillars in the banquet hall, he went out of his way to get that set up and it was just the icing on the cake for his services. Just do to being busy with coordinating the event we never provided Mike with a song list until the day of the event where we threw random songs at him from Christmas music to Bollywood (I would not recommend doing this as it gave him no time to prepare but that one is on us) and he still delivered an amazing experience for our event. He played different music at the right times and transitioned very well into the dancing/party portion of our evening very well. My only critique would be the responses to emails tended to be 11 pm - 1 am ish. He is clearly a busy man with a passion for what he does and that means when he is at an event he cannot respond to emails. This is not necessarily a bad thing but just be prepared to communicate outside of normal business hours, it is well worth the talent, passion, and price. As a groom who probably cared more about the music at our wedding than any other component of the event - I can't imagine having anyone but him do exactly the job he did. Michael was absolutely fantastic! My husband and I were living out of state but still found Michael to be so easy to work with. He was extremely timely with his communication, very friendly and adaptable. He offered his insight based on experience but really ensured everything he was doing was in line with our vision. He did an INCREDIBLE job with the lighting. He went out of his way to get more lights and a chandelier to be able to produce what we were hoping for at a reasonable price. His MC skills were exactly what we wanted- he engaged the audience appropriately and had a good balance without talking too little or too much. But most importantly, his music was PERFECT! Michael was an an epic DJ and set up an amazing light display for our wedding reception. He had great attention to detail and made sure that we had exactly what we were hoping for. He took the time to meet with us before the wedding to go over the lighting plan, schedule of events for the evening, song requests, "do not plays" and to make sure any special requests were handled. That made us much more comfortable for the evening feeling confident that he was on top of everything. He even double checked with our whole wedding party to make sure that he pronounced everyone's first and last name correctly. Mike is an awesome DJ! My husband and I were referred to Dancin Shoes by my co-worker who had Dancin Shoes as his DJ at his wedding. We really enjoyed working with Mike, he was flexible, accommodating, very communicative and super energetic! He offered his ideas and suggestions and never made us feel like that's what we had to do. Mike is our age and that was helpful because he is familiar with the songs from our generation so it was easier to pick songs. We also made an agenda for the reception and Mike helped us fill in the holes with information he needed but also with suggestions that we took him up on! While my husband and I were all over the place talking with guests, getting drinks and trying to eat - Mike kept in touch with us and helped keep the reception on the timeline that we proposed.

His setup was clean and organized, he provided some up-lighting (I've attached pictures so you can see how it lit up our venue) which helped add that last touch that we were looking for! We provided him a song list and asked him to play certain songs at certain times which he did! We told Mike to do what he normally does and if he sees a good spot to play some songs that he wanted to choose, we were totally cool with him playing what he wanted. He was very respectful of the songs he chose and was respectful of the different generations that were in attendance.

I would recommend Mike and Dancin Shoes in a heartbeat and will definitely be coming back to them for future events. More...

We hired Michael and Dancin' Shoes at the suggestion of our wedding coordinator, and we are so glad we did! We were planning a wedding from the other side of the country, so it was difficult to meet with vendors, but Michael made sure he was available for an in-person meeting when I was in town several months before our wedding. He was very enthusiastic, and clearly loves what he does. That was exactly what we were looking for in a DJ. He was open to our ideas. He was very personable and easy to talk to. He also made sure to have all of our favorites cued up and ready to play. Our first dance song was a really obscure Bruce Springsteen song that isn't easy to find, but he found it. Our venue was in a small mountain town about 3 hours from Denver, and we were worried that no one would be willing to travel that far, but Michael made the trip out to this remote village. The ceremony space was outside and on a mountaintop with no power, but he brought all of his equipment up with him for the ceremony music and as well as the microphones for the officiant. It was perfect. After the ceremony, our reception was exactly what we wanted: a really fun dance party with cool lighting (also provided by Dancin' Shoes) that perfectly set the mood. So many of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed the reception and the music/dancing in particular. It was an incredible night! You really cannot go wrong with Michael at Dancin' Shoes! Mike DJ'd our mountain wedding this summer and was amazing!!! He worked with me to creat the music feels for the various portions of our wedding, from cocktail our to dance party, and everything turned out great! He played a lot of requests from the crowd while throwing in older songs for the older guests and kept everyone on the dance floor all night. Everyone at the wedding had a great time and commented on the music. How good it was and the variety of different music played. They liked the music at the ceremony and said it was not the same old thing. Most wedding music is so dry. Your sound system was spectacular and we liked that you had every thing under control so we didn't have to do a thing. People could walk up and pick a song and you played it and they liked that. Michael was very professional and easy to deal with. We worked with him for our wedding reception in May. He scheduled a meeting with us to discuss plans about a week before our reception. He was very flexible and professional! During the reception he was great! He played the songs we requested, and didn't play the songs we didn't want! :-) Also he was professional and fun over the microphone when addressing the group. Mike is awesome!! I will hire him again for future parties and strongly recommend him to friends and others. All of my guests loved the songs he played. We had a blast.

He met with us two times before our wedding. He went over all of the details and gave us great suggestions on songs and lighting. He arrived in the venue 3 hours before our wedding to get everything ready. The uplighting was arranged perfectly with the decoration and added very romantic atmosphere to the reception.

All of the song went so smoothly from one to the other at both ceremony and reception. His work is just beyond my expectation!!! I am so glad that I hired Mike.

Mike Warkentin is an amazing DJ! He was able to create a mix tape for my daddy daughter dance. He helped us figure out how to incorporate two surprise first dances (as neither of our parents had had a first dance during their wedding) into our evening. He suggested an anniversary dance which was a huge hit. He has a very large selection of music. He even had sophisticated videogame music! This DJ was recommended by my photographer. It was important to me that my vendors got along and were able to work together. I'm super happy I was given his information!
