We hired Dan to help furnish our new house under a tight timeline and specific budget. Dan really listened and understood our preferences for quick install vs lengthy custom work. He found a blend of great retail pieces and custom pieces that we love. We were surprised at how well his vendor relationships worked with our timeline. My wife and I turned to Dan for help after we purchased a vintage condominium (built in 1883) in the Old Town Triangle. We can not say enough positive things about our experience working with Dan Rak Design. Dan was extremely professional and helpful throughout our entire home renovation. We purchased a 1600+ square foot, 3 bedroom/2 bathroom unit and wanted to completely renovate and update it before we moved in. We remodeled our living room, kitchen, master bedroom, master bathroom and the two additional bedrooms, and we needed to do it in 2-3 months. Dan was instrumental in seeing that every aspect of the project was carried out perfectly, professionally and in a timely manner. We had a very negative experience with the first designer we were going to work with on our project, but from the moment we met Dan, we knew that we had found the right person to work with us. Dan guided us through every step of the process. He helped us select every single element of our new home, and we could not be more pleased with the results. He listened to our needs and wishes and incorporated them perfectly into his designs. The finished product is simply amazing. He helped us create a home that is a true reflection of us and our styles. After interviewing four other interior design/general contractors we chose Dan Rak for his attention to detail, execution of our vision, and consideration to our budget. We purchased a condo in a Gold Coast high rise which needed complete kitchen-living room renovation. Since we do not live in the condo full time Dan was available 100% of the time to handle every detail of the renovation, from the construction renovation to furniture-colors- and assessor purchases. I hired Dan Rak at the beginning of 2015 for the interior designing of my new apartment in a highrise building in South Loop Chicago. It has been completed successfully and I cannot be any happier with the result. The happy experience started at the very beginning. As everybody else, I RFQed a few interior designers for the project and have all of them in with an on-site consultation. Dan stood out sharply from everybody else in quick response, competitive quote and honest opinions. No tricks, not hidden cost, and very transparent. My biggest concern was that I may lose control of my budget by unforeseeable hidden cost. However, Dan assured me that he will follow my budget and give me cost details as it goes along. I can see clearly where I am in terms of cost and avoid the excessive expense beyond my expectation. Dan did an excellent job in this respect and gave me a lot of confidence that we can complete the project comfortably. When it comes to the design ideas and taste, I cannot praise him any higher. He has the delicate taste of modern interior design and knows how to balance every aspect of the whole picture. Originally, we had a very different idea about our lighting designs and went ahead with ours. But it turned to be a disaster. We turned around and accepted his design and the result was just perfect. We learned a hard lesson from this. During the whole process, Dan tried to give his best suggestions without making us feel bad. We are so grateful for that. Dan's service is high standard also. We communicated with each other mainly via email. He was always there to respond and came to meet us onsite whenever we asked. He never showed any sign of discomfort when we made a bad decision or when we asked him to do something "unreasonable". For example, we had to ask him to return a lot of lighting fixtures that we picked. He did it very professionally. Another example is selecting paintings. We spent so much time on it that I almost gave up. However, Dan continued to provide suggestions until we were completely happy. Now, our walls are decorated with the beautiful paintings he picked for us. Even after the project was completed, he still followed up with any issues left behind. For example, the legs on our sectional sofa were delivered with wrong colors. We contacted him. He jumped on it immediately and contacted the vendor to change the legs for us. The fist replacement did not work out right, and he worked on it again and got the 2nd replacement legs in. He is just painstakingly making his client happy. Dan is reliable and trustworthy. He is honest and transparent. He tracked the hours honestly without overcharging us at all. He told us the true cost of very piece of furniture or items he will purchase for us. We can very easily verify them. I have a lot more positive comments to say about Dan if I continue. I just want to make it short by saying that I strongly recommend Dan to whoever looking for an interior designer. You will be very happy with your decision, just like me. More...

I reached out to Dan for a paint consultation, as well as general advice on my condo layout and possible upgrades. I could not have been happier with the paint choices he left me with. He listened to what I had hoped for my place, and then used his expertise to make that happen in a way I would not have been able to myself. After my place was painted, I expressed to Dan a few major furniture pieces I wanted to replace (Rug, bar, tv stand, floor lamp, coffee and end tables etc..) Again Dan really listened to what I liked/disliked and found me pieces that I was extremely happy with and have given my place a unique, well designed look.

Dan recently helped with a kitchen renovation (new counter tops and back splash) and we are thrilled with the results. He is creative and consultative within the design and materials process, and is so prompt and organized with the contractors he recommends and the billing process. Usually you find a designer who fulfills one of these criteria, but Dan really excels with the entire process, start to finish. Dan would give his design opinion but allowed us to make final decisions, and was always supportive of what we decided. The contractor he recommended was fantastic and Dan was the middle man throughout, checking in with both the contractor and me to ensure everything was getting handled on time and well.

Dan did an amazing job helping to make my apartment in the sky feel like a home. He quickly understood the look and feel that I was trying to achieve and was able to embody it with ease. I loved coming home because for the first time my home felt warm, comfortable and inviting with a bit of flair - exactly what I wanted!

I used Dan Rak Design for the design of my basement wet bar. I could go on and on about how easy it was to work with him. However, I will keep it simple and to the point .

From the day we met to go over the project, to the final day, he exceeded expectations. He provided a great service, and did so in a very professional manner. He is extremely talented and competent - 2 qualities which I have found to be very challenging to find in this market. Unlike other companies in this marketplace, Danny is an effective communicator and constantly kept us up to date on various orders placed along with the progression of the project. It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Dan Rak of Dan Rak Design. Dan was hired to act as our project manager and interior designer providing vision and guidance on our very outdated home. When Dan came to our home both my husband and I who have no experience or vision when it comes to seeing past what is currently there, we were skeptical that our dated home could be brought back to life. As Dan, walked through our home he was able to help us envision what our home could potentially be. With that, a complete home renovation began.

Dan provided guidance in regards to choosing cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, cultured stone color schemes, furniture selection, kitchen appliances, flooring and tiling, painting, lighting and accessories.

It was a pleasure working with Dan. While he has definite opinions in regards to all decor related issues he listens to the client and works hard to understand the need of the client. Dan is a great person and very comfortable to work with.

We would characterize our renovations as a "high end" project. A substantial investment was committed to the renovation including the interior design and decor package. So while the budget was substantial, Dan always looked for good value when making product recommendations. My partner and I purchased a duplex condo on Chicago’s north side that was built in 1999 and had not been touched since. We knew it needed a major update, but didn’t really know where to start.

We found Dan through the Houzz app and were immediately impressed with his work. We were looking for something modern, yet sophisticated and his designs seemed to fit that perfectly.

On our first meeting, he was just as friendly as he had been on the phone and immediately went to work planning our rehab. Within two meetings, we had hammered out the design details of the rehab (which was quite a large project) and soon after, demolition began.

Dan and his team worked diligently and he communicated with us every step of the way about what the next step would be and what to expect. Impressively, he finished the project on time and on budget.

I hired Danny to do some interior design in our new home. I didn't have a clear vision what I wanted done- but I knew that the space wasn't being utilized to its fullest. Danny was WONDERFUL! After meeting with him ONE time and discussing "sort of" what we wanted- he RAN with it and in a very timely manner provided us with several "options" for us to review . He was VERY professional, always easy to get in touch with (should we have any questions or wanted to dialog about our options)- and he stuck within our budget! He was very forthcoming with our invoices as things were purchased so there was no surprises! I couldn't be any happier with the end result!
