I contacted Nikki with Open Path Realty to help find a tenant for my condo in old town. Right away she returned my call, listened to my needs, and provided a very honest and realistic assessment of what I could expect as far as monthly rent, timing, etc. This was the first time I've rented my condo out, so I had very little knowledge of what to expect. Nikki did a great job walking me through the process, and she handled all the details. Within a day my condo was already on the market with professional photos and everything. It was refreshing working with her since I am an out of town landlord, and she kept me in the loop constantly. She always returned calls and texts quickly, and did a great job finding us a tenant. Even after the tenant was found, she went above and beyond in handling all the paperwork and providing me with a detailed move in inspection. I am so grateful for Nikki Hurt & Open Path Realty! I started my search for a new location for Temple of the Dog almost a year ago. It was a total nightmare...there were owners pretending to be agents, there were agents making false promises left and right, that is when they actually decided to call back and there were agents that had bedside manners of used car salesmen. With Nikki, everything just felt right! She is a very sincere and genuine person, and you will feel that immediately when you meet her. She truly cares about her clients and goes the extra mile to ensure their happiness...she has done this with me countless times. Nikki Hurt is a true superstar! When I got a job in Chicago and had to move to the city on short notice, I found Open Path Realty on Yelp (and Nikki in particular through reviews) and she quickly got us set up with a listing search. When we picked out a few rentals we liked, she went around to each and sent us a video tour so we could get a sense of what the space was like. We had a few specific requirements that can be hard to find in a city, including a garage space to serve as a full wood shop, but she still helped us find the perfect place! Throughout the process she was easy to contact, had answers to all of our questions, and used DocuSign to make all of the paperwork easy to take care of long distance.A few months later, when we decided we liked Chicago enough to buy our first home here, we asked Nikki to be our realtor. I think she was more excited about finding us a home than we were! At this point we'd spent less than a year in Chicago, so Nikki helped us understand the different neighborhoods and trends in real estate in the city. Our first offer was on a short sale home that needed extensive renovations, and Nikki navigated a six month battle with the seller's bank, FHA contractors, and attorneys - all while acting as our own personal cheerleader and helping us understand a very confusing and complicated process. Even though the short sale didn't work out, Nikki helped us know the right time to say goodbye to the deal and start looking for a different home.This summer we started up the house hunt with Nikki again, and quickly found a two-flat that was perfect for us (and thankfully not a short sale this time!) Since Open Path Realty works in property management and real estate, they have excellent connections to contractors they work with on a regular basis and trust to take care of their clients; Nikki also knows quite a bit about the renovation side of things, and was able to advise us on what would be needed as we looked at different properties. Nikki recommended an incredibly thorough home inspector, as well as experienced electricians and HVAC specialists, so we went into closing knowing exactly what needed to be done to make a 102 year old house ready to live in and rent to tenants. If you are a first time buyer and don't know much about buying a house/condo/town house or even if you don't know what your best option is JUST ASK FOR NIKKI! !! I can not imagine doing this again and not hiring her!!! She is simply the best!! I'm very detail oriented and I ask a lot of questions, but boy did I learn some stuff!!! From day one she was explaining everything and was available to both me and my husband for all of our questions and wish list items check list, advising us of how to make the best choice and what would be the best for now and the future. I'll start by saying Nikki was absolutely amazing! I was rock climbing in Colorado and had barely any reception whatsoever making it pretty difficult for any communication but she still did everything in her power to assist me and make sure I got what I wanted/needed. I never had to wait for replies to my questions and although I made it difficult by not being in the state, she was there for me in every way. Can't recommend her enough! Based on other reviews, we got in touch with Nikki Hurt recently when we found out that we had to move to Chicago on short notice for work.  She sent us tons of high-quality listings to look through--lots better than my husband was finding on apartments.com.  We had a small hiccup when the day we'd planned for seeing places didn't work out--possibly because I didn't confirm with Nikki in time--but she scheduled us to see five of our top choices the following day.  During the showings, Nikki was a huge help, giving us lots of details about the neighborhoods (she knows Wicker Park/Bucktown/Ukrainian Village etc. extremely well) and asking smart questions at each place we saw (we kept forgetting to ask about security deposit, pet fees, move in dates, etc., but she also noticed lots of other features of each place).  Not only did she line up great options for us, she took the time to help us evaluate them afterwards.  Great communication and follow up via email and text.  We really got the sense that she was looking out for our interests and helping us solve our problem.  Overall, I recommend Nikki extremely highly. My experience working with Nikki Hurt was phenomenal.My boyfriend and I found her via a listing for a place we wanted to see (to rent) on a Friday. She showed it to us and was super friendly, funny, and helpful. We didn't love that apartment, but that day she said she would set us up with an automated MLS seach email from her website and assured us that we would find an apartment that we loved.I was flying back to the town I was relocating from after the weekend, so my timeline to see places was very very short and nothing seemed to be sticking. I was set to leave on Tuesday evening, so my boyfriend and I went through the initial list that was sent to us from her search and sent her an email at 9:30pm on Monday. By 10:45am on Tuesday morning, I was looking at three more apartments with her. By 11:45am, an application for an absolutely amazing apartment was in my hands and hours later, our lease for an apartment we LOVE was signed.I cannot recommend Nikki enough! I would absolutely recommend Open Path Realty, especially Nikki Hurt, to anyone needing assistance in the Chicago area! My boyfriend and I moved to Chicago from out of state, so we had to lease a space sight unseen. We tried to contacted multiple agents/agencies and had difficulty even getting anyone on the phone. It was so bad that a month before the move we still didn't even have leads.We finally contacted Nikki Hurt at Open Path Realty, who responded immediately. I wish we would have found her sooner! She worked with us to find multiple options that fit our budget and needs. She was extremely attentive before, during and even after we signed the lease. I never really take the time to write reviews, but I honestly felt the need to write one for Nikki Hurt, since she has made my life incredibly easy! I got a new position and found out I was moving to Chicago about 3 weeks ago, and I thought it was going to be near impossible to find a decent apartment in a good area in such a short period of time (especially during the holidays). I messaged an apartment listing that fit what I was looking for (I didn't know it was managed by OPR then), and was lucky enough to get a reply from Nikki. Since then she has been nothing but awesome, catering to my every need and answering my (many) questions, emails, and texts super quickly at all hours. I was really skeptical of signing anything because I wasn't able to see the apartment or the neighborhood beforehand (I was moving from Florida), but Nikki went to great lengths to make me feel really comfortable, such as giving me a personalized video tour and being very straightforward with me. I signed the lease and moved in 3 days ago, and she has been constantly checking in with me to see if I'm comfortable or need anything else. The apartment was exactly what she advertised and I'm really happy with my decision to move in here. Without a doubt, I've had a great experience with Nikki and I'd highly recommend her (and OPR) to anyone.Update: It's been three weeks now and I'm still very happy with my apartment! We had decided to AirBnB it as we looked for a new home. We thought a month would be enough. We were wrong. We had employed one of those firms that are supposed to know the hidden gems and help us find exactly what we were looking for. They didn't. It was nothing but frustration. We needed something ASAP as we were running out of time. Nikki worked very hard for us and quickly got us into a condo in Ukrainian Village even though the place already had an application submitted. For a few years, Hector was the property manager of our building, and did a great job!  He was quick to respond to our requests for services, often attending to them himself.  Recently my wife and I purchased our first home, and although we did not use Hector as our Realtor (we got a handsome credit by doing a dual agency with the seller's Realtor), he was instrumental in not only helping us work with our landlord in severing our lease, but also provided me with great counsel throughout the home-buying process - and for free.  He talked me off of many ledges, made me aware of the realities of purchasing a home, gave me insight into the neighborhood, the (often illogical) process of the lending institution, closing costs, tax pro-ration, transfer stamps, and anything else I could think of.If you, or a member of your family are considering purchasing, or selling a home, I would highly recommend giving Hector a call.  Thanks for all of your help, Hector!PS.  I also had the pleasure of meeting, and working with Nikki, who showed our apartment during the renting process.  She was friendly, efficient, and very considerate to our schedule.  All around, a great company. A few years ago, my unit's wall suffered from a condensation problem as a result of a shabby tuck point job.  Not to be a damsel in distress, but I had no idea who to call to help me fix this problem.  A friend recommended Custom Fit Contractors (CFC).  Words don't even begin to do justice regarding how professionally CFC repaired my wall, not to mention the speed with which they worked, and extremely affordable.  Now, when I have friends over, all I hear is how you would never know that my wall suffered from water damage at one point.  I have nothing but the highest compliments for CFC!  Hands down, I would recommend them and will use them in the future! One of the best customer service experiences I can honestly say I have ever had.  Originally tasked to rent out my current apartment that I am leaving, this agency immediately took me up as a client and, within a few days, helped me find a fantastic apartment that fit my scope! I've had the pleasure of working with Beata in my search for an apartment in January 2013. I just moved from New Jersey for a job and looked for an apartment remotely and for a couple of weeks on my own and wasn't satisfied with what I found. January is a tough month to find apartments. When I contact Beata she was very responsive, friendly and helpful. She arranged to find some apartments for me within my budget and even met up with me at facilitated the process. She did not try to push me beyond my budget. She worked hard to find what I wanted and helped me secure the apartment once I fell in love with one of the properties she recommended.
