Was checking out San Meteo fitness clubs and this was the best! I know most people select a gym for the classes, but I do my own workouts. I found Crunch was great because:1 Lots of machines -- all the latest versions2. The place is clean. From workout rooms to bathrooms.3. Locker room is well designed with a steam room next to showers.4. Lots of full and hand towels available5. Well designed spaces, lots of natural light.6. Great inspirational messages on walls. Not a big deal, but adds to the "vibe."7. Staff were friendly and energetic and proud to show off the place8. Lots of free parking. More...

This gym is probably the best deal you can find in San Mateo/Foster City area. We walked in early October when we saw some deals for free month on the website. Guillermo helped us set up an account, and while there was some billing issues, Guillermo was so kind and helpful to resolve the issue with the corporate office. I've had bad experiences at another gym where billing issue was SUCH a pain in the ass to resolve. However, Guillermo helped us resolve the situation as well as sending me verification emails for my record. I really do think it's hard to find good and conscious sales rep so I highly recommend you go find him if you are looking to get your gym membership started! I visited him few more times after starting my gym membership and every time, he is very friendly and easy to talk to.The gym does get pretty crowded, especially around peak hours, but has all the equipment you will need and I've had no problem working out here. Pros: 1) Clean 2) Not usually too crowded 3) Decent variety of equipment 4) Friendly, enthusiastic staff (mostly--one guy looks and acts like a bored mob enforcer). 4) Customers are very conscientious about cleaning equipment before/after use.Cons: 1) Parking during peak business hours for the shopping center can be a problem.  2) MUSIC VOLUME! Too often the music is cranked to a ridiculous level--so much so that you still can't even hear your own headphones unless you turn those up past dangerous levels. They'll turn it down if you say something but jeez. This is the only gym I've ever been to where this is an issue. 3) This is not specific to this gym but there are a few "equipment campers"--guys who lock on a machine and bring over other weights to work different exercises between machine sets so they've tied up the machine for literally half an hour. You can ask to work in but they give you the death stare. Otherwise good gym, good value. More...

I had a bad injury a few years back and was beyond nervous to attempt to get into any sort of shape again. Thankfully, I took advantage of the personal training package they offered for new members and got hooked up with David. I have to credit him for keeping me on track. He completely understood my hesitation to get back out there and knew when to push and when not to. It's easy to get bored doing the same weights and cardio over and over and call it quits, especially in the beginning, but with him that's not happening. I've been working with him over a year and I couldn't have asked for a better trainer. It's pretty incredible how he helped me build confidence in the gym and how that has bled into all parts of life outside of it. I have yet to run into anyone even remotely rude which goes a long way especially at the start when you can't help but feel like a fish out of water. The place is always clean, never too crowded, and most importantly there's always parking. More...

Crunch is a pretty small gym located in the mall. The place itself does its best to spread out everything and constantly does its best to adjust which stations and machines need to be added/taken out. Personally I think they have maybe too many cardio machines which could be more space for just stretching out when the dance room is closed. Also I wish that there could be maybe 1-2 more squat/deadlift stations since it always happens to be taken by big groups. Other than that I'm pretty content with crunch I don't understand why people complain so much when there's a reason why the membership is so cheap. Obviously there's other gyms for the same price but personally since I'm very close by I choose this gym instead. Also I'm not sure of his name, but the guy who works the front desk there has lost so much weight!! Every couple months I always see that he's slimmed down so much. It's so motivating. Way to go dude!! More...

I don't usually write reviews but I felt the utter need to do so about this specific Crunch location.I'm a peak member and been to all the locations near the Long Beach area which include: Lakewood, Cerritos, Norwalk, Downtown LB, and even Fountain Valley. Out of all these crunches, this location in Long Beach is easily my favorite. It may be the smallest Crunch and lack some equipment like the other locations but they make up for it with the environment and staff which make this my go to location. There's also two specific staff members that are responsible for making this location my favorite.Tiana is the first staff member I want to compliment and is the person responsible for making me a Crunch member and joining team Crunch. She explained to me the different types of memberships that they offered and gave me a tour of the gym. Her explanation was straight forward and easy to follow. I felt that her presentation of the gym was genuine and she made the decision to join Crunch easy. Prior to joining Crunch, I visited  LA fitness and 24 hour fitness and did not like how the staff members pressured me to become a member. I did not feel this way with Tiana. She was very mutual in my decision making. I've also watched Tiana court new members and treated them exactly the same as me and this was very encouraging to me. This shows me that she's consistent in her presentation of the gym and that she's genuine to everyone.  Because of this, I know I made the right decision to join Crunch. If you're looking to join crunch, definitely look for Tiana! She'll take care of you. The second person I want to complement is Gary. Gary's positive energy and kindness stands out. He greets all members with energy, asks them how they're doing, and what they're working on at the gym. Some staff members stop at the greeting portion but Gary really goes beyond it. He builds member rapport and this makes everyone comfortable at the gym. This is easily seen with members because they don't hesitate to converse with him. He even takes time to help members with workouts when they ask for help. This usually occurs when he goes to the supply room to restock necessities. Overall, Gary makes people want to go to the gym and is very helpful to members.Despite the small size, this Long Beach Crunch is by far my favorite because of the staff. The staff help build a friendly environment and makes going to the gym feel like a second home. Tiana and Gary really further this idea. Tiana and Gary, thank you guys for helping build Crunch to what is now. Please stay with Crunch and I hope Crunch also takes care of you guys too because you two deserve it! (: More...

This review is in the context of a commercial gym. I never used a trainer or taken a class here. When it comes to commercial gyms that have a little bit of everything, Crunch Fitness is probably the best in the Burbank area. I really don't have anything bad to say about Crunch.Over the past few years (almost a decade) I've been a member of 24 Hour Fitness in Burbank and Glendale, Equinox Glendale, Burbank Athletic Club, Media Center Health Club, Gold's Gym in Santa Anita mall, and Crunch Fitness Burbank. The Gym:At less 1/3 the price of Equinox Glendale, you practically have everything they have minus the scented towels. They have a large free weight area. During peak hours you might have to wait a little bit but in my experience not nearly as much as other commercial gyms. Before I left there was 1 squat racks and 1 power rack, a deadlift area with a landmine, 3 flat benches for barbell bench press, and 1 of each decline and incline bench for your barbell needs. Other than 24 Hour Fitness in Burbank, that is a good amount of barbell stuff for a commercial gym. This is also probably the only commercial gym I know of that has a turf and a sled to push. I've only seen this at other speciality gyms. The Amenities:There is ample parking here. They have clean showers (comparatively) with body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. There is a sauna in the guy's locker room (I haven't been in the women's one but I assume there is one as well). Their trainers have been really friendly and no one seemed overly aggressive to try to make their sales pitch but your mileage may vary with trainer to trainer.  The bottom line:If you are starting to workout and you want a good commercial gym (not a speciality one for crossfit, powerlifting, mma, or barre), this is the best I've found in the Burbank/Glendale area. It has a little bit of everything you need for whichever fitness goal you want. There is also no contract clause locking you in for any specific amount of time (not for me atleast). If your workout goals change and you want to join a different gym, they even prefer email.  I don't see any reason not to join this gym. More...

For the price, this gym is great. The gym is spacious enough to get a decent workout in without feeling cramped like other gyms. There is a ton of equipment and more than enough to make progress. The staff is very friendly also! I come in pretty often and at different times and each time I have been greeted by friendly faces. I noticed that the manager is a body builder which is great because that means he also uses the equipment and he's probably on top of his staff! One of the staff members has lost a ton of weight which is nice to see that even the workers here are putting in the work and live the healthy lifestyle that they preach. There's a whiteboard near the entrance that I have seen reference NSF and the FDA to debunk some supplement myths which tells me that they DO care for their clients. The only downside is it does get crowded early in the morning because of the large zumba classes. I've noticed that some of the earlier crowd likes to sit by machines and talk on it for nearly an hour which can be annoying if thats the machine that people want to use. That's the only reason for the star deduction because I think that's something the staff could address but the amount of people present is not their fault. More...

I was a member during spring 2019 and had to leave for a summer internship in another city.I come from a powerlifting background and have trained at various Crossfit, functional fitness, and powerlifting gyms. This Crunch has all the equipment you could need for powerlifting and bodybuilding (you'll have to go to the Union Square one for bumper plates for Olympic lifting). There are only 2 squat racks and 2 bench press stations, but I never really had to wait when I went around 10-11am on weekdays or the weekend. The membership price is pretty good. I forget what it was for me exactly, but it was much cheaper than Crossfit, of course. They often have good deals on personal training packages as well.I did one personal training session per week in addition to two weekly workouts on my own. My trainer was Vincent Wang, and I thought he was very knowledgeable about good powerlifting form, accessory exercises, and programming. I'm picky about form because I had lower back pain for a while that I even went to a physical therapist (DPT) for. The physical therapist helped with my form a bit, but I think some of Vincent's cues (plus being comfortable with filming my lifts at Crunch, so that I could review them myself) were integral to getting to where I currently am today--lifting heavy weights pain-free, which at one point I was afraid would never be possible again.I also liked Vincent's approach to nutrition for me. I didn't want to count macros at the time because I find it time-consuming and stressful. So he just checked in once a week/session and simply wanted me to eat closer to 1 g/lb bodyweight in protein. Though my body composition didn't change much while I was working with Vincent and still just trying to feel good about my form and avoid back pain, this approach set me up for good, sustainable, gradual changes in body composition during this summer, when I was finally able to train normally.Tips: some of the barbells are 50 lbs, not 45 lbs. Look out for the ones that are thicker than usual. Cancelling the membership was not super hard, but you do have to do it at least a month before it would renew again, and you have to fill out a form in person. More...
