Dinese and her team at Continental Catering catered our wedding recently in May at Orfila Winery in Escondido - what a great experience! The food was absolutely amazing, many of our guests said it was the best food they had ever tasted at a wedding, both appetizers and dinner. The continental team delivered amazing presentations of both food and spaces supporting our hope to have food stations (meat, pasta, salad, yum!).Dinese's team was very professional and worked perfectly with venue staff to implement a high-quality catering experience. Martha and her team were fantastic. The menu selection had more than enough to cater our event with a wide variety. From the tasting to the site visit for catering set up to the event, we were always treated with courtesy and professionalism. Martha was a terrific point of contact and supervisor over the event. We had a great experience with Continental! We received so many compliments from our guests about how amazing our food was. They also brought greenery and gold vases for the buffet table. The presentation of the appetizers was also beautiful!  They also helped us to move our chairs from the outdoor terrace to inside the reception room. The hubs and I renewed our vows April 20th 2019 in our backyard with about 60 guests. Martha at Continental Catering came out weeks before to get a feel for the layout and the flow of operations. First, she's delightful. Secondly the whole staff, from the folks who answer the phone, to the cooks and servers all top notch!Now to the meat and potatoes. I wanted Continental because I've been to a lot of events where the food was just ok. At a wedding last year, Continental was catering and it was the first time I remember saying wow, the food is outstanding. Christie was absolutely amazing during our wedding planning process. She was professional and personable. In fact, every time we spoke with her it was like speaking with a close friend. She understood our vision and worked with us to make our wedding everything we wanted and more, while being mindful of our budget of course. Continental Catering catered our 90 guest wedding at El Cortez on 2.10.19. Months before our wedding, we had people in the event industry ask which catering company we were going with and when we said "Continental Catering" everyone pretty much reacted the same and said "OMG! You're going to love them! They are amazing!" They were right! Their decor was beautiful, their food was delicious, people absolutely loved their dinner, appetizers, and their dessert bar was amazing!! They made our wedding extra beautiful and romantic with their amazing setup! They provided much more than we could have ever expected. Christie was awesome to work with! She even showed up on the big day to make sure everything went smooth and she even took some pictures and sent them to us via email the next day. That was super sweet of her!! My husband and I chose SD Wine and Culinary as our Wedding Reception venue in October 2018. I am so unbelievably thankful at how beautiful and seamless the entire experience was with Shannon, Kenny, and the entire team.
Finding a wedding venue was the most difficult process of wedding planning for me. After attending 9 of my friends’ rustic style weddings in the last 2 years, I wanted something different. I’ve always loved the vibrancy of downtown Gaslamp but couldn’t grasp the price tag of a lot of the fancy hotels. When I found the Wine & Culinary Center and met Shannon and Kenny for a tour, I knew instantly that this was it, I found the perfect venue. The interior is very warm and inviting and makes you feel like you’re in wine country. Step outside on the patio and the venue transforms itself, feeling like a hip downtown establishment with views of beautiful palm trees, the convention center, and tall skyscrapers. I just loved how versatile the venue felt; Romantic and warm on the inside, while trendy and energetic on the outside!
The Event Manager Shannon was so easy to work with when it came to any requests I had. She knows how to do her job well and she does it with ease, kindness, and poise. I loved how dedicated she was at helping me with any little thing. From rearranging the seating chart a dozen times to accommodate our large group of 170 guests, to tailoring a custom bar menu to fit our budget and taste. My absolute favorite was how she decorated the venue with beautifully lit candles everywhere to add ambiance...so thoughtful, it was the perfect touch!
The night of our wedding was absolute perfection. The venue was decorated exactly how I had outlined, and the event went on without a hitch. Bar Manager Kenny was constantly checking in with us, making sure we had all we needed including a drink in our hands at all time. Not to mention, our Signature drinks were the BEST TASTING drinks I have ever had at a wedding, ever! A true craft cocktail, made to perfection each time. All my guests were raving about the “Grooms Cup” and the “Blushing Bride,” it was great! Guests also commented on how knowledgeable Kenny was on liquor and spirits, and how professional, kind, and funny he was! His presence as the bar manager that night really elevated the experience for me and everyone in attendance.
If I ever have another large event to host in the future I will definitely think of Shannon, Kenny and the Wine & Culinary Team, as my experience couldn’t have been more magical. THANK YOU guys for making our wedding the most memorable and beautiful day of our lives. We love you! More...

There are not enough words to describe how much we love and appreciate Yolanda and Continental Catering. Throughout the entire wedding planning process, Yolanda remained our go-to person to help us make decisions and stick to a timeline. The venue we chose (The Martin Johnson House) allowed us to bring in all of our own vendors- which was great but also overwhelming. When we first started the wedding planning process my fiancé and I had no idea what we were doing. After contacting Continental and emailing/chatting with Yolanda, we felt comfortable moving forward with them. It was at our tasting with Yolanda that I realize how AMAZING she really is. We were nervous, as expected, but she knew exactly what to say and do, to help calm our nerves and identify what we actually wanted for our event and guests. She had an answer for everything and by the end of the tasting we had picked our menu, all of our rentals and our colors. We distinctly remember leaving that tasting VERY full but also VERY relieved. She took away all our worries and we had so much confidence that she was in control and was going to make sure our day was the best day ever, and it was. If you are looking for a Catering Company, it has to be Continental and you have to request Yolanda to be your coordinator. After researching multiple Catering companies, cross referencing and taste testing, my husband and I decided on Continental Catering. Not only was the food delicious,  Christie let us nail down the menu until we felt it was absolutely perfect and fit our budget. She was so efficient and friendly, the service was extremely on top of things and made sure to cater to our every need (not that we requested the royal treatment but we definitely recieved it). If you are looking for delicious food, beautiful presentation and excellent service, trust the reviews and go with Continental Catering. You will be so satisfied and relieved you did. We were extremely impressed by Continental Catering. We worked with Yolanda who was extremely laid back and very easy to work with. We got married at Scripps Seaside Forum a few weeks ago and I'm still getting compliments from guests about how good and plentiful the food was! Yolanda also brought great decor that perfectly matched our theme. The staff was super nice and very attentive.  The appetizers were so delicious (especially coconut shrimp and southwest egg rolls) and abundant! The dinner menu was perfectly executed (lots of comments about the bourbon glazed salmon). Most notable was boozy donut holes for dessert which were a huge crowd-pleaser!  Yolanda was also very good at making sure our vegan and gluten free guests has lots of options available and clearly designated.I never write reviews, but in this instance I'm making an exception because I want everyone to know how good Continental Catering is! This is a long overdue and very deserving review for Continental Catering and particularly, Ashley Beauford, who worked closely with us to design a custom menu, coordinate all the party rentals, and actualize the decor for our 110 guest wedding (pre-ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception dinner) last summer. Our food was delicious and beautiful- much better than the typical standard of wedding food which is mostly to serve for volume and not quality. Continental had a ton of great options from their catering menu but didn't even hesitate when we asked for custom items. We asked them to make a gaspacho appetizer shot with a grilled shrimp garnish that was a big hit with our crowd. We had vegans, vegetarians, and people with extreme allergies attend but Continental diligently labeled all items and informed servers so they were knowledgable when guests inquired about the food. We had an amazing meat and cheese spread for our cocktail hour which they added even more elegance to with their decor.With only 5 weeks to plan, Ashley took care of everything. Our wedding/recepon venue had only recently begun to host weddings and were uneasy about vendors delivering tables, chairs, etc. and originally required a very narrow window for all of that to occur. The venue also was new to the requirements of having alcohol served on their premises. Ashley worked with them behind the scenes to alleviate their concerns and we didn't even have to get involved. We are so thrilled we got to have Continental Catering take care of our event. Continental Catering worked our wedding in July at the Martin Johnson House, and we are SO thankful we chose them. Yolanda was an absolute DREAM to work with from the very beginning. She decorated the interior of the venue beautifully with minimal direction, and I trusted her judgment completely because of her extensive experience with catering and weddings. The food was DELICIOUS and we got so many compliments on the Mexican appetizers and fajita buffet we served. The bartenders supplied through Continental were equally talented, and kept everyone happy with minimal wait times. The serving staff did a great job at keeping the venue clean and were polite and courteous to all of the guests. Continental Catering is experienced and they truly know what they're doing when it comes to catering for events--and their food is AMAZING! We got so much through them--bartending, all of our rentals, and the food, and they knocked it all out of the park (and this is coming from a super Type A, nitpicky person!). Shannon McQuade helped to plan a fantastic event! Our clients had a blast competing in the Iron Chef competition and our marketing team loved creating content for it. Shannon got back to every e-mail and really took the time to go over everything in detail since I was planning from the Pittsburgh area.

we just got married at scripps seaside forum and yolanda along with her team at continental catering was amazing!  we had so many vendors that we coordinated with for our wedding, but yolanda was definitely one of our favorites to work with.  she was so detailed, on top of things, has a very sweet personality, and just made my life so much easier.  it was so nice to not have to stress about catering since i knew that yolanda was taking care of everything.  not only did she take care of the food, she and her team set up all the linens/tablecloths, decorated the stations to fit with my theme, moved all the chairs from the ceremony to inside for the reception, provided all the glassware to our bartender, and so much more.as everyone knows, i'm a big foodie, so when we started wedding planning i knew that food would need to be one of the highlights of our big day.  to be honest, whenever i go to weddings, i always remember the food and drinks the most.  so this was really important to me for our wedding day.  none of our guests are from here, so everyone flew in from all over the country and world to be with us, and i wanted to make sure they'd enjoy the food.  from the first time i spoke with yolanda, she stood out from the 12 or 13 other caterers i had communicated with.  she wanted to know more about me, my vision for our wedding, what foods my husband and i liked, etc.  from that, she was able to come up with a proposal that we were both really excited about!  we went to the first tasting and we ended up changing up a few things, but i appreciated how understanding they were and how willing they were to adjust things to my preference.  i have a gluten allergy and we had a handful of guests with allergies (peanut, dairy, soy, shellfish, etc.).  yolanda was so on top of things as requested.  the day of the wedding she had menus printed out for each station that listed allergens that the item contained.  my guests with allergies really appreciated that and i was happy that they had several safe options to eat.  during the tasting, and during the wedding, they made sure everything was gluten free for me and i am so happy that i was able to safely eat whatever i wanted.  the day of the wedding, they passed out h'dourves while we were doing family pictures.  yolanda made sure we had a plate at our table when we came inside and i was so happy to eat!  we did scallops, watermelon cubes, and korean bbq.  the scallops and watermelon were my favorite - i definitely recommend those.  for dinner, we were the first to walk around the stations.  everything we wanted a member of the team would tell us that they'd bring it to the table for us.  at the slider station, they already knew i was gluten free, and told me they had some gluten free buns for me and i was so excited!  i would say the most popular food items was the salmon with tangerine fennel sauce and rice pilaf and beef tenderloin with chimichurri sauce.  our guests were literally grabbing bowls to put the chimichurri sauce in - it was that good!  the staff was amazing and i was so impressed at how warm and professional everyone was.  they cleaned up plates from the tables promptly and were all so friendly.  we got a lot of comments from our guests not just about the food, but about the service.  thank you yolanda and the team at continental catering!  you guys made our wedding day a success and we're so happy that we were lucky enough to work with you guys. We hired Continental to provide luncheon for a baby shower.  We ordered several dishes and since we had a guest with food allergies, we  needed some tweaking on the items selected.  Christie and Paloma arrived promptly and set everything up.  We have never seen an artisan cheese display like the one they arranged.  It was on 3 levels and perfect.  Everyone raved about the food.  They also provided service (plates, flatware, napkins, table cloth, etc.)  and clean up after the party.  I would use them again without hesitation.
