Our first visit to Clue chase was back in April 2018. Since this location is in a commercial building, it's a bit tricky to get into. Make sure you give yourself ample time to check-in with security and have your photo ID ready or else you will not be able to enter. The waiting area is quite comfortable as there's some puzzles for you to play with while waiting for your game master to start the game. The game masters are also playing their roles quite well as they take you into a time travel warp. You'll get debriefed with a background story in the waiting area on their TV. "The Egyptian Tomb" room was very immersive. The props felt like it was from a theatrical set and you are actually trapped in a tomb. We only had three people but was lucky enough to get a private room to ourselves. However, we didn't have enough time to finish the puzzles, as we were definitely short-handed. My feeling is that you will probably need a minimum of 4 people to successfully escape. This is the first escape room that we've tried with a lot of high tech equipment involved and it was a real eye-opener for us. This is also the first room where we didn't have to use too many traditional locks. So if you are person that's in love with the feeling of opening locks, this might not be for you. Also, for every room you try.We had a huge group of eight people for "The Ultimate Heist" room and the size of the room was definitely accommodating. If you are looking for any kind of team building, this room would be perfect. The goal here is to steal $100 million dollars worth of merchandise from a thief and of course, escape with it. There are a lot of mini puzzles in the room where each person or a small group can tackle on together. The more puzzles you solve, the more prizes you can escape the room with. We had 8 people and escaped with about $35 million dollars worth! The puzzles were well-thought out and pretty linear in terms of the clues that were provided so that you can easily associate them with each other. Remember to leave time to solve the puzzle on how to escape the room or else you will get caught red-handed w/ all the merchandise!"The Lost Spy" décor of the room felt very office-like as they are trying to recreate the feeling of the CIA headquarter in VA. The room is quite spacious and the clues were clearly coordinated to the puzzles that needed to be solved. There's a lot to do in there but this room is not linear (we notice that in their other games as well). This is great for team building if you have a large group as you can divide and conquer. There is some reading involved that would need to be analyzed in this room so if you are not a reader, bring someone that is! Nothing would require any outside knowledge, but you would be at a slight advantage if you know how to play this particular board game. One of the pieces did feel a little worn in the coloring which wasn't a big issue since we used process of elimination but it would've been great if they can provide some upkeep on the puzzle pieces to avoid any confusion. Between the two of us, we couldn't complete the room in time mainly because we're not too familiar with failing to escape a room based on trying a code too many times. Normally, you'll probably just get locked out as a penalty or something. We had about 10 minutes left when we made a final attempt, but the game actually stopped when the code was entered incorrectly. So, I would leave a good amount of time, patience, and precision for the ending. The storyline was great as it made sense as it developed and why the agent went missing which then also lead to the ending aspect.Clue Chase has always been one of our favorite locations in the city. If you had to pick a game to play, I would say "The Ultimate Heist" is a MUST try there. We can't wait to complete the "Alien Encounter" room so that we can be sent on the secret mission and infiltrate the Fox's secret organization! Remember that each room gives you a secret puzzle piece when you complete them so keep them somewhere safe as you'll need to bring them back to the location for this last exciting adventure!*Check out our YouTube video for a sneak peek of the location, interview with the manager, the room and more on our website: escapetheroomers.com More...

I had sooo much fun here even if my friends and I didn’t manage to escape the room. We played the Egyptian room, which was sooo much fun. I was there for my friends birthday party, where we had cake and the party festivities in a room somewhere in Clue Chase right after we did the escape room. More...

Super fun! I did Alien encounter with Y Travelers camp and it was amazing. The robot, who we named Bobby Joe was really helpful. After the room, I learned that it was actually an AI, and not human-controlled. This surprised me because a teammate said “Life’s a b*tch” and the AI responded with “I know, right?”. I finished with give or take 2 minutes left. 10/10 escape room. More...

Having been to escape rooms in several countries, this one is pretty decent. Only did the Egyptian room, but the puzzles were well done, the props/scenery was solid, and the balance/time was appropriate. It can be a bit of a chore to get to on weekends, but worth the trip. One aspect that was a little awkward was the hammy acting/roleplay by the staff in the prelude to the room. I'm sure some people get into it and that it could be an icebreaker for some groups, but it wasn't for us. More...

This was my first escape room experience but I was very impressed with the complexity of the puzzles, the variety of themes and the staggering number of challenges presented to us. I went with a group of fellow engineers, all highly intelligent people who love this kind of thing, and while we did escape the room in time, there were enough side puzzles and secondary objectives remaining to have kept us busy for at least a couple more hours. I went in with optimistic hopes and left with a smile and satisfying realization that I'd had even more fun than I'd expected to. More...

Went with a friend and it was our first escape room attempt ever.  We were hoping others would book our slot and it wouldn't be just the two of us, but nope.  Seemed pretty slow for a Saturday night.  We chose the Egyptian room.  Finding the building took us a while, and we started to think that was our first puzzle.  The staff here is amazing.  They really get into it and you can tell they are having fun.  They watch and listen to you in the room and give you hints if you get stuck or are on the wrong track.  The puzzles were not too difficult.  It felt like being in a video game.  My friend and I definitely needed way more time.  We did not escape.  It was really cool of them to explain to us the remaining puzzles and then they took our picture and off we went.  It was a lot of fun and we would definitely go back and try another room- with more people! We brought our 3 teenager aged boys for a fun family activity while staying in the city over President's Day weekend. We had never done an escape room before and we had chosen Clue Chase based on its reviews. We had such a great time! We did the Ultimate Heist and were able to break the code to escape. It was sufficiently challenging and even though we escaped there were so many puzzles and challenges in the room that we barely got to. It would be fun to return to focus our efforts on those in order to increase our reward! Further, Clue Chase offers several themed rooms that look really fun. We will definitely come back to try those! The staff were all really awesome. They were instructive, engaging and appropriately helpful. I will admit to being appreciative of the hints they offered as we navigated the room. They did a good job at not making their hints too obvious!I highly recommend the Clue Chase for a family adventure or team building activity. We were there for about an 1 1/2 hour and it was perfect!! More...

There are multiple escape rooms to choose from, and all are challenging without being too frustrating (some of the puzzles felt impossible, but luckily they had a range of puzzles for you to work on in the meantime). The staff is polite, and the characters stay in character until the end. The waiting room is fun, with lots of decor to keep your attention until it is your turn.My only complaint is the smell of some kind of delightful fried foods waft in, and I got really hungry during the escape room challenge. I never leave reviews but we all left Clue Chase with such a lasting impression due to their outstanding staff. They are beyond excellent. Every single person at Clue Chase is super friendly and enthusiastically accommodating. We had a fantastic time for my son's 14th bday from the communication w staff to book the party until the very end of the event. Our moderator was extremely helpful and knew just when to pop in to help. Kids ranged from 6rs old to 17 and he managed to engage them ALL. They loved it and were so impressed with him and his amusing knowledge of "everything" (references to video games and popular movies). They are beyond A+ for customer service which always makes for an enjoyable time. The room was beautifully decorated to feel like an Egyptian tomb it was as if we were visiting an Indiana Jones (which my son loves) attraction at Universal or Disney!  This game was far from easy and with sporadic help the kids finished only 2 seconds to the hour! However they enjoyed every single minute. Simply the best. We plan to return to do the other rooms and recover the whole Artifact! More...

Came here with a group of 7 and did "The Ultimate Heist" room. It was cool in that the objective was a little different than typical escape rooms.I liked this room, but felt like there was too much going on. You have to try to get out of the room and also "steal" as much loot as possible. We got out with 30 mill worth, which we were told was better than average, but we were all kind of doing our own thing and I didn't even get a chance to see all the puzzles. We had a walkie talkie and it felt like we were getting a lot of direction (but we didn't ask) - could have also been because the bulk of us were walking around aimlessly lolI would come back though and definitely recommend for larger parties (in the city) as they can accommodate more people per room (up to 10 and 12 ppl). They have like 3 other rooms and a bonus room where you can win a prize once you've played and gotten the secret artifact from all rooms. Enjoy! More...

This was a very nice place for an escape the room. It was my first time here today with 5 of my other friends. We played the Ultimate Heist room. I've been at other escape the rooms before and I have to say, this was one of the better ones where the person who guided us throughout the game, Aaron, was extremely friendly and was really rooting for us the whole time! It was thought provoking and clever. They even have something for you to do if you escape earlier than the hour allotted for you to get out. Overall, it was a fun experience and the staff were hospitable. We'll definitely be returning here in the future for the other rooms! More...

It's amazing how many organizations use these places for 'team building' field trips. Our team ended up being split into factions all competing to see who could figure things before others did but our group was filled with a bunch of competitive sorts. These places typically offer multiple different scenarios so if you've done one you can always try another one with a different storyline. The staff do a good job of sorting everyone out if there are return visitors. Keep in mind almost everyone you encounter there is 'in character' and trying to make your 'experience' authentic. I'm sure this is a great day job for many out of work actors.I won't say much about our scenario because nobody wants to be the one who spoils the fun of figuring out the mystery. Suffice it to say you are given a scenario by the staff, told how things work (no touching electrical outlets!) and assigned various roles and tools you will need. From that moment on any information you are given could be helpful so keep your memory sharp. They typically assign someone a flashlight to be used but most of us ended up whipping out phones to use the flashlight because the rooms are kept purposefully dim. Our scenario only gave us 1 hour to figure things out. I'm not sure if this varies but time flies by and you will find yourself wishing you have an hour more! For those new to this experience or who just dumb as a rock they offer you a bit of guidance if things start to slow down. I got the impression they were watching us stumble around our room picking things up and analyzing them. When things didn't happen fast enough our staff member would send us a short message by walkie talkie to help guide us in the right direction (something we needed many times!) Toward the end of our experience my entire group became frantic to figure things out. You definitely get better as you play and figure out how things work. Nearly everything in the room they provide with is to be used for something. At the end we grilled our staff member to share with us where we had gone wrong and how to solve the puzzles we got stumped on. Im not sure they always do this but we pretty much backed the guy up against the wall out of frustration and it was satisfying to find out the solution.Afterward they offer a group photo and tell you your score. Since you provide them your email and personal info you will get an email later with a copy of your photo and scorecard showing which scenario you did and your best ranking. This was definitely an event that I went into with low expectations and found myself pleasantly surprised to enjoy quite much! I may even return with my own friends to try another scenario there. More...

So I've been called an expert on escape rooms. I'm currently resting at over 50 with a 98% success rate. So I know what I'm talking about when I say THIS PLACE OF AMAZING!! First and foremost, the staff is the coolest bunch of folks around. I felt like I was just hanging out with friends talking about shared interests with them. The rooms are excellent themed and all rooms play differently. If you do them all, you get clues that lead to a final puzzle. If you manage to solve it... Well, I'll let you find out.My clue masters were all amazing. Austin did my spy room, Aaron the Egyptian tomb, Savvy did the alien adventure, and Lou ran the heist. Quick run down: the spy game is really neat because the clue master is in the game with you and is an important character to your success in your mission. It has a lot of different puzzles for everyone to work on.The Egyptian Tomb is the most "standard" of their rooms. A typical solve the lock, find the code, get this puzzle. And it's executed very well. The heist is probably my favorite. Lots of smaller puzzles that you can choose to solve or not. I won't give much away, but there is a puzzle with several boxes and keys that was my absolute favorite! Right up my alley. The alien room is very unique. It's very linear which isn't my thing but you really have to think and use non linear thought to be successful. The theme is really well done. Just be sure to listen to their hints. If they suggest you work on something, that's probably important to do next! The last puzzle it's really neat. That's all you get on that.Overall, really a wonderful experience from start to finish. Aaron, Austin, Lou and Savvy are fantastic and the puzzles are great! More...

We tried the Ultimate Heist and escaped with 27 minutes to spare, so we decided to go back in and steal more stuff. This was an interesting room, because the focus was less on escaping and more on gathering loot. As a result, it was much less linear, and more convoluted, than any other room we’ve done (and we’ve done a bunch!). We were disappointed that they wouldn’t tell us what we missed when time was up though, I’ve never been to a room that wouldn’t do that. Went this afternoon and really enjoyed ourselves. It was only 3 of us, but we still made it out of the heist with seconds to spare. The staff was so friendly and really “into” the role of the session we decided to book another one this evening. We went back and conquered the spy one. The character in our room was great! Very good actor and really made our time there super enjoyable! Even though it was only the 3 of us, we still made it out in about 54 minutes. Having done dozens of these, this place ranks up there in the top two we’ve been through in many regions of this great country. Our only regret; every time you solve a room, you get a clue to the ultimate goal. We got two of the four and are leaving NYC too soon to be able to solve the “big-super” puzzle. Had we known, we’d have visited here before today and tried to solve the super puzzle. Now we have to come back to NYC to finish them all!
Loved it, and you will too.

Seriously though....lots of fun, great puzzles, all locks in working order, and the staff are all super friendly and giving you a total immersive experience.

I use to think I was a master of escape rooms but Clue Chase got the better of me! For those coming on the weekends, enter the Grace building from 42nd street. You have to check in with security as Clue Chase is located in the basement of the Grace Building.I loved how the theatrics of Clue Chase started when I first checked in with security and met my Clue Master. Great production value. That being said, their escape rooms are tough and difficult. I came with a group of 4 and we definitely could have used the extra room, so fill out your team if possible. Bring all of the friends! If you're looking for a challenge, come here. More...

I went to Clue Chase on a Team Building outing with my coworkers and we had a blast! The staff was wonderful and extremely interactive, our "guide" was Austin and he kept us laughing the whole time and was a great help in the room when it counted. Overall I would highly recommend Clue Chase for team building, parties, or just a fun night out with friends. We will definitely be coming back for more!xoxo Team Thin Mints More...

I've done a few escape rooms (both in NYC and other cities) and I feel like they can be pretty hit or miss -- but Clue Chase was definitely a hit for us this time!We did The Ultimate Heist room - where you're trying to recover item(s) that an infamous thief has stolen and get back in time (under the 60 min time limit). How it works:+ Book online - you can see all of the rooms they offer and the times. It shows you how many slots are available. The prices are really reasonable.+ Get briefed - arrive 10 minutes early to check-in and meet other members of your group. The place is in the lower level of an office building. Then your guide will tell you what the storyline, rules and safety information. Our group included my group 6 (two of which were visiting from out of town) and a family of 3 (also visiting from out of town). I had hoped my group would be alone because I thought it might be more fun that way but it ended up being a really good group so it worked out! They have cubbies where you can leave your stuff but they also let you take your bags/phones with you inside if you prefer (which I was surprised about but I guess its because Google search won't help you; you have to use the clues in the room to figure everything out).+ ESCAPE! - what i loved about The Heist room was that you basically have two goals: (1) to find a way out, and (2) to recover as many of the stolen items as possible. Because of the way it's set up people can work on different clues and puzzles at the same time. I've been to other escape rooms where sometimes it feels like you're just standing around because there's only one thing you can work on at a time.+ Get debriefed - after your time is up, whether your successful or not, you get the chance to ask questions. We were the last group of the day so our guide pretty much walked us through everything we weren't able to complete. I really liked this part because it makes you appreciate what goes in to setting the room up and the complexity of it all! They also tell you the average success rate so you can gauge how well you did. Our group was able to make it out - WOOHOO! As I said, escape rooms can be hit or miss. Part of it is your group and the dynamics. If you have a good group that clicks well then you'll probably have more fun. The other part is obviously how well the room is set up, the storyline, and the clues/puzzles. Clue Chase does a good job and makes it a fun experience! More...

Some of the clues in the room were a bit different than many of the rooms we've done so I enjoyed having to do things many different ways and look at things differently. They do clue giving differently here where the game masters actually come into the room with you which I enjoyed for the most part because they can see everything you've done and can also use visual communication but some people may not like it so thought I would note it. Will return to try some of the other interesting rooms - the military themed one was the only available during our visit. More...

I've done 30+ escape rooms, and Clue Chase is the best one in NYC. Everything about the experience is on-point from the waiting room to the finish. The Heist is the best room for large groups I've ever played. In addition to the Heist, I also did the Lost Spy room this week, and had an incredible time. First, the waiting room itself stood out--escape room waiting rooms aren't this nice! And then your immersive experience starts while you're still there, before they even bring you to your escape room. Once in, the set design is great, and the puzzles were creative and well-constructed. Everything just flowed so smoothly. Even at the end, there was an element that kind of keeps the story going with you after you leave. You can tell they've put a lot of thought into every detail of the experience. The staff was super friendly, and you get the impression they're excited about escape rooms themselves. As I mentioned before, the Heist is the best large group room I've ever played. In other rooms, sometimes a group has to solve one puzzle at a time, but only a few people can do it at a time, so everyone else ends up just waiting around. Clue Chase found a really clever way to have lots and lots of puzzles going at once, keeping everyone engaged the entire time.Like I said, best one in NYC. I can't believe it took me this long to come check them out. And definitely coming back to do their other rooms! More...

Our group of seven really enjoyed the ultimate heist. I've done my fair share of escape rooms in multiple cities over the years. Let me say that this specific room was one of the most challenging and creative rooms that I have encountered. The quality of the room was very high. There are many escape rooms that I have done that are not very special and easily forgettable. I will fondly remember this room. One of my pet peeves with escape rooms is when a few hardcore problem solvers on your team seem to take complete command and leave very little room (no pun intended) for other team members to make contributions to the escape. This room, by design, gives every player an opportunity to play a big role. Was this the best room I EVER did? Did it have the most cool things? No and no. By no means is this the best room ever, but it's up there. I also want to comment on the very cool and chill waiting area. It felt like someone's apartment. The staff was very nice. I would return. We were in the city to take in a show and then go wherever our feet took us. We have always gravitated towards escape rooms as a fun and inexpensive way to entertain ourselves. We searched Yelp and this location was the first that came up. Let me tell you that this place does not disappoint.  We have been to several escape rooms in other cities and Clue Chase is easily in our top three. The themes are similar to other rooms, but the attention to detail, the quality of the decorations used, the functionality of the locks/puzzles, and the level of difficulty are all top notch. This is the first escape room we have taken part in where the staff takes the extra measures to give you a total immersion experience. If we didn't have a timeline we needed to stick to, we would have definitely attempted another room. The review hype is real, folks. This escape room company is fantastic. Having done many other rooms across different cities, I can confidently say it is one of the best ones I've ever done. That their rooms are constantly sold out should not surprise you - it should encourage you to book early. The mystery starts when you are sent down to the basement of a non-descript Midtown office building. I won't spoil the storyline, but before you begin there is a short (witty) instructional video. The waiting room's coffee table is a giant maze, one we couldn't solve. (This should have been a clue for things to come.) My group of four opted for the Egyptian tomb and I'm sorry to report we didn't escape. In fact, I am writing this review buried in the sands of Egypt. With hindsight my only recommendation is to bring a larger group (unless your small group is exceptionally intelligent). Having 2 more people really would have helped since there are quite a few clues and puzzles to work through. Last shout out - the staff! All of them were so friendly and helpful. Plus, they stayed in character the entire time which really added to our enjoyment level. I cannot wait to come back - with a larger group - and try another room very soon. More...

Clue Chase worked closely with us to make sure a Saturday reservation for two large groups went smoothly. We reserved three out of the four rooms and everyone - even our English Language Learner (ELL) students - had so much fun! Nell, Sam, Lou and Aaron all made sure that each room started on time, introduced them to the game, and walked them back to the lobby after the session. It seems like they work with large groups often and have a solid system in place. Most of our groups escaped and all of them had a great time! Note: the post-event photos Clue Chase sends us are fantastic moving GIFs. Nell even helped us take a larger groups photo at the end. Clue Chase has become one of our favorite escape room companies! I'm sad there are only 4 rooms because we've completed 2 now, and I'm a huge fan! We first did the Lost Spy, which is a more traditional escape game with locks and riddles and puzzles, but it is really well-done with innovative features, challenging puzzles, and fun story-telling. We just did Alien Encounter, and this room was even better! The puzzles are really hard but smartly made. This is the most high-tech room I've been to, and some of the features were really cool. We did end up finding an error in one of their puzzles, but I'm sure they'll fix it after this. The staff are all really funny and kind, and the facility is well-kept and clean. We had an amazing time here celebrating my boyfriend's birthday. We had a party of 7 and was joined by another party of 2 who helped us barely completed the Ultimate Heist room. Upon arrival, check in is very simple at the lobby of the Grace Building, were we were given a temporary ID to access the building. Clue Chaser is located below the building and very simple to navigate to. My party of seven were directed into the waiting room, where the "time traveler" host greeted us in character. We were then directed into another room to place our stuff and hang our coat. (NOTE: There are no locks, its an open closet based on the escape room you chose)The "Time Travelers" had a great sense of humor, approachable and gave clear concise instructions. It did not take long before we began to get acclimated with each other and work together to solve the puzzles. The riddles are challenging but the overall environment was excellent. With barely seconds to spare, we were able to escape and racked up "42 Million" in all the goodies we stole from the room. Overall experience, we had a great time with each other, celebrating two birthdays in our group (my boyfriend and a woman from the party of 2). The people in my group loved the experience so much, they literally went back to try a different room that Saturday.I will say this is a great place for people that love trivia, puzzle and a good brain teaser. Wow. I finished all of the 4 rooms from Clue Chase. They have top-notch game designs, props and great game masters. But you do need A LOT of people to escape the room, and clues are given WHEN the game master feels you're stuck - minus one star.Egyptian Tomb: My personal favorite. Great concept, great execution. So many props make sense to me! It's also very rare that some puzzles takes three pieces to solve. But the end is hard. We didn't escape.Ultimate Heist: My second favorite. Even though we did the room with 2 persons, it was still a blast. Abundant riddles by the way. But you don't necessarily need to escape to enjoy this particular room. The Lost Spy: We were lost for quite a long time without a clue. Eventually, we got blown up by a bomb(!) and a personal gif. Would definitely hope to get clues sooner.Alien Encounter: We were late for 15 minutes, and yet finished it within 45 minutes! There's a cute robot standing out in the room. It's the next gen of room escape for sure. More...

Our family did the Egyptian Tomb room and had a wonderful time!  There were 8 of us (all adults), and everyone was engaged with plenty to do for the entire time.  Our family has done several escape rooms with other companies, and the puzzles in this room were the best that we have ever seen.  Whoever designed the room put a lot of thought into the challenging and interesting clues that go way beyond the standard "find a key, open a lock" puzzles that I've experienced elsewhere.  We'll be back! This was an amazing escape room! We went in for the tomb and ended up staying for the heist we loved it so much! Our clue masters, Dr. Mad and Dr. Aaron were incredible! The puzzles were just the right amount of difficult, and we escaped both rooms! They both had unique pieces are parts to them. We cannot wait to come back for the other two!! More...

As an escape room enthusiast, I thought Clue Chase was the best escape room experience I've ever had. For my husband's birthday, a group of us tried out The Lost Spy. It was incredibly put together and challenging. That room has a 14% success rate, and the five of us were able to complete it with a few minutes to spare. Our host, Austin, was just so awesome and hilarious! We enjoyed his company and the overall storyline and escape room. I look forward to going back and trying other rooms! More...

My family and I did the "Egyptian Tomb" room on December 26, 2017 and it was GREAT.  Six of us were escape room experts (having done a lot of rooms with a lot of different companies) and two of us were newbies. To begin with, the Grace building is gorgeous.  I've done a ton of escape rooms and many of them are in low budget, dingy, scary buildings.  This venue is spectacular.  When you walk in, they have some of the coolest puzzles in the waiting room.  Our favorite was the enormous coffee table maze that you complete with a magnet. The production value of the room was easily the best I've seen.  Decorations, lighting, etc. were all really immersive.  They even had Egyptian costumes you could wear while playing.  (Or just for the photo at the end!) The room was also super challenging yet accessible for our newer players.  I've gotten so sick of going to escape rooms that use the same tricks over and over... this place was the hardest one I've done. Finally, the President of the company Dave Chase was manning the front desk, made sure we all had a great time, gave us his card, and encouraged us to come and complete the other three rooms.  Customer service in general was super friendly. We'll be going back.  (Oh, and we made it out of the room!) More...

If you are considering Clue Chase for a corporate event or team building, do it. You will not be sorry. We ran all four rooms simultaneously with small teams from our company, and people are still talking about it. The event planning was a breeze, and there was almost nothing left for me to do. Clue Chase even set us up with a happy hour afterwards at Heartland Brewery and an "awards" ceremony with medals for people who made a famous - or infamous - contribution to their groups. Cannot say enough good about the experience, start to finish. I want to go back on my own and try more of the rooms! More...

I booked The Lost Spy for my husband's birthday and we had a blast. We booked all the slots in the room for 10 people, and I think if we didn't have 10 people we would have had trouble escaping because at some point everyone was doing something. There wasn't much standing around, and we were able to get out with just over 2 minutes remaining although some of our people were convinced when we had 9 minutes left that we weren't going to make it. It was a blast, and it was great given that we had a mix of people who had done escape rooms in the past and some that hadn't. We were all looking at various things at various times and that was the way we solved it. Had we all been focused on the same things we never would have been able to complete it! It was definitely worth the price point given the quality of the game. More...

My first escape the room experience and it was so much fun! My friends and I did The Ultimate Heist and it was definitely an mind-boggling challenge. The clues were very elaborate and hints were given to us along the way. We figured out the exit code with about 2 minutes to spare and we stole 22 million more dollars worth of valuables than the average! It was a very fun 60 minutes, and it was great to see the 7 of us put our brains together to figure out the puzzles. We couldn't have done it without Benny. Or Lou.SPEAKING OF, LOU, IF YOU'RE READING THIS, YOU WERE AWESOME AND SO SO FUNNY AND WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH! the spy/Cold War themed room Clue Chase was excellent. I hate to say it but this might be my favorite escape room yet. the training video and staff interaction were awesome. our group of 7 beat the room but with only a handful of minutes to spare, and we've all done several. damn, it was challenging! apparently it's their hardest, with only about 20% success rate.everything was in good shape and there was ample space for our group. the staff interaction was excellent and fully immersive from check-in to exit.as with most escape rooms, it's about $30 per person and booking ahead of time is highly recommended.we did get to take a group victory photo at the end - and the version they emailed back to us was just awesome (I won't ruin it, but perhaps that's good motivation for you to beat it).note - to get into the Grace Building, you will need photo ID as security will check it.interestingly, the four escape rooms here are supposedly tied in together with a little bit of a common story. there's time travel, science-fiction, mysterious artifacts, and more. I definitely want to try the other rooms here to learn a bit more about the common story.easy to get to - since we had people coming in from all over the city and Jersey, the central location was clutch. Regardless of the fact that our group didn't manage to make it out of our room in the hour, we still had such a fun time at Clue Chase! This was my first time ever doing an escape room so I wasn't sure what to expect exactly, but I can say that it exceeded my expectations. Our group ended up doing the Ultimate Heist, one of the more challenging rooms offered by Clue Chase. From the time we entered the building, our "guide" was very friendly and played along with the story of the Fox and stealing back the artifact. The hour flew by quickly as we tried to solve all of the puzzles! After doing this one, I'm definitely game to try another escape room. Just a tip- if you're with a group, I recommend getting to the Gracie Building a bit early since going through security took a little bit. More...

We did the Ultimate Heist, it was one of the most exciting escape games I've done. Once you figure out how to exit the room, there are still dozens of side puzzles to solve, and your score for the game is based more on how many of those side puzzles you solve than on how quickly you get out of the room. It was a great way to keep everyone involved and engaged in the game throughout the whole process. The only thing I wish they would change is to wait until we ask for hints before providing them, they were a little too forthcoming and helpful with the clues. Other than that though, great experience overall, very immersive. More...

It is in a fantastic location in Manhattan. It is a little strange because you have to go through security when you go in so make sure you add an extra five or 10 minutes to your time to arrive. The game was well-designed and a lot of fun to play. The only reason for 4 stars is that the gameplay was not completely intuitive and they had to make a few large leaps of logic, and we escaped without opening at least two things that we were supposed to. The hype is real. This is a joy to do, but the limited time (1hr) does detract from the experience a bit. We were unable to complete The Lost Spy (the "hardest room" according to a Clue Chase member). The layout of the game was challenging because there were so many puzzles that were complicated and did not work the 1st or 2nd time. I went as a group of friends from college and enjoyed that you aren't ever truly completely stuck on what to do next. The experience was truly immersive, thanks to the room furnishings, and half of the puzzles were pretty straightforward.Issues: 1. The safe in the room would automatically lock out for about 2 minutes when too many prompts were entered. This would be good to know ahead of time or a sign should be placed on it so that nervous people understand that they cannot go around punching in random numbers in the hopes that it'll open.2. Directions should be expanded. Upon entering the building on 42nd street, you have to go through security with a picture ID to obtain a pass with a barcode. Depending how many people are waiting to get in or in your party, this can take 5-10 minutes. 3. I wish they gave discounts to parties bigger than 5. More...

I've done quite a few escape rooms over the years, and this is by far one of the best! The staff is informative and entertaining, and the production value is among the upper echelon of escape rooms. There are levers, locks, and secret passages galore, and the creative puzzles are challenging, but not impossible. A group of 7 friends and I completed the Egyptian Tomb challenge with 12 minutes to spare, which felt pretty great considering the 30% success rate. I think 8 people is pushing it for the that room in particular, as there are only so many puzzles to work on simultaneously.Something to note about the location: The entrance is on the 42nd street side of the Grace buildings, just past Joe and the Juice. Clue Chase could definitely benefit from better signage! More...

This was the second escape room I've done so far and it was the best one. First of all the people there are super nice. Second, the rooms were well designed. Lou who played the character Vinny for the particular room we did which was The Heist was very funny and added onto the overall experience. Although we didn't finish, we were one step away from figuring out the last clue. All in all it was a wonderful time. The game master popped in at certain points, providing helpful hints when we needed them, or staying silent if we didn't. Clue Chase was a solid four for our group. It wasn't the best experience, but it was still decent enough. We did the Egyptian room as a group of 7, there were four of us in total from my party and three lovely ladies in the other group. We had the opportunity to chat a bit before while our game master got us all set up. I'll say this, the 'story' and introduction into this game room was kind of lackluster and it was noticeable right away. I don't really dock points off that, but it does get you questioning immediately when the person providing the story to the room looks like he would really prefer to not be talking to you. The room itself was a solid 5, but it was hard. And honestly part of the difficulty laid with how we organized ourselves. There is a lot going on in this escape room and there were a lot of puzzles I didn't even really understand or would not have understood had it not been for the explanation at the end. So be warned!I suggest whichever of the rooms you do to be organized, even if you're with strangers. Try to lay things out and acknowledge what items you have. What's been used? What hasn't been used? Keep track of things. We were all over the place and not coordinating and when we were given the answers it was like "duh" how did we miss that? One thing I personally really didn't like and have seen mentioned in other reviews is how some game masters just come into the room and watch. This is the only place of all the escape rooms we did that did this. This is in addition to the clues we would get on the TV screen. I found this slightly uncomfortable and it also ruined any idea of us 'escaping' since we had someone coming in and out of the door... But that's just me. I don't like being watched like that and so for me it ruined part of the experience. It was almost like we were being judged, I know we weren't, but our game master would stand against the wall with his arms crossed and watch us, a bit intimidating honestly. Overall it was a good experience and the room was definitely up there in terms of technology, it just wasn't my favorite. Still a great time and one I'm sure a majority of people would enjoy with their friends. More...

I took my parents and a friend - all escape room newbies - to Clue Chase, and we had an absolute blast. We did the Egyptian Tomb and were about one puzzle away from escaping on time. This was the 13th room I've done and it was definitely one of the most fun and most challenging. There are lots of symbols to decipher and a lot of puzzles/clues that you first must understand how they go together before you can actually dive in on the puzzle itself. We got a few clues through a screen in the room, as well as from our gamemaster, who warned us in advance he'd be coming into the room to help every once in a while (I imagine if you're not into that, you could request clues only through the screen). All of the clues were helpful but certainly didn't give anything away.It sounds like the Heist game is best for beginners, and the Spy game is the most advanced. Even though we didn't win, my team was blown away and loved every minute of it. I always get nervous going to a new escape room business because reviews can be so subjective, but Clue Chase did not disappoint. Puzzles were well-crafted, set and props were beautiful. The room had some tech-driven surprises, but was not as full of tech wizardry as some rooms I've been to. I played the Egyptian themed room with a group of fairly experienced players, and am a puzzle designer myself. The set and their tech were relatively good, and I'll try to review the puzzle without giving anything away: it was challenging- I love challenging- but a lot of the challenge in this puzzle came from having a lot of symbols that were different but similar enough to make it really confusing without really much purpose. There were also a couple puzzles which had multiple ways of getting to the solution, and certain things that went together but didn't look like they should, which added to the confusion. I think a good game should rely on having clever puzzles, rather than have the difficulty come from misleading its players. That said, there were a few great moments in the game, and I think it is worth playing, but this is not a room for beginners. This place has a lot of good ideas going on but this game could be easily improved with some refinement and clarity in the design of the puzzle. More...

My friends and I have done several different escape the rooms. They tend to all be relatively similar in scope. Most rooms are just filled with locks maybe an occasional puzzle. Amazing room escapes was something completely different. I did this room three days ago and I'm still talking about it.The room was smart and cleaver.  The puzzles where a mix of challenging and just plain fun.I am very much looking forward to their other rooms. Went yesterday and did both the heist and the spy rooms by myself. This was my first time doing an escape room by myself and the staff there helped me along only when I truly needed it. Love the concept of both rooms having multiple puzzle streams going at the same time. The clue master in the their room came in and helped by just being that second voice that sometimes you need as he never actually gave me any answers, (I also adored his English accent). There is one puzzle in the heist room that you needed a little outside knowledge which could easily be solved by giving a card that had the scale on it. Spy room was very detailed and complex this was the first time out of my fifteen escape rooms I have done that o felt truly fairly defeated as every element worked the way it should and the puzzle were just more difficult.  I am seriously contemplating another visit to finish the Egyptian room. Went back today to do the Egyptian room. Was amazing loved the whole place. Can't rave enough about this place. More...

What a great time our group had here! Was invited last minute to partake in the fun and games!Located in the basement of the building. Our group was divided into 3 and I was assigned the Egyptian room.  Clues were tough and we solved the puzzle in the nick of time.  I've heard of other places that have zombies yelling and getting closer to you in these escape rooms.  I could not handle that kind of pressure.  Haha!  Afterwards, there was a little dinner party in a back room (I would have liked the wine prior to the puzzle solving). Finally, owner David Chase was very attentive and ensured everyone enjoyed themselves; plus he made sure pictures were taken! My family and some friends and their kids did the Egyptian Room a few weeks ago, and we had a great time.  We were 4 adults in their 40s, and 4 kids aged 14, 13, 13 and 10.  Everyone of us was able to got involved and actively participate.  The room looks great, and the puzzles are very well designed.  We escaped with only minutes to spare!  It was great fun and makes for a great bonding experience.  We'll certainly go back to try the other rooms. To place was soooo much fun ! The staff really makes you feel like you are in the moment and stick to the theme. They are friendly and patient. It was a great experience. The room was well designed, the technology was AWESOME!! The only reason why I give it a four out of five is because some of the puzzles were confusing to the point where we would never have solved some without hints, and even after explanation I did not understand. My friends and I are defiantly coming back! It was great team building and excitable. So well designed! I can not get over it. More...

Out of all of the escape games I have been to, I can honestly say that this was one of the best experience I had. Just from the beginning of the game, you can tell that there was a lot of work and thought put behind the production of each room. The rooms were intricately designed and beautifully put together. Without giving too much away, I would say that it was as though I entered a real movie scene, made more authentic by the lighting, setup, and ambience. The puzzles were challenging and really required everyone to work together to piece things in the right order. I would strongly recommend this to anyone looking for an authentic and unique experience with their friends or colleagues. I look forward to coming back and trying the other rooms! More...

Clue Chase is a great place to go for some fun. Whether with a group or with a partner. I had so much fun finding clues to open up locks. I thought I wouldn't find or be helpful to my team mates but in actuality I was an asset. Vinnie in character (a person who works there) was so nice and funny. He comes in from time to time to check on you and build up your confidence. He even drops some helpful hints to help strugglers. This is a place you must visit it your wanting to escape the room with some fun. Conveniently located next to 42nd Street Times Square. More...

I can't wait to come back! I've done other escape games before at Komnata Quest, but the Egyptian Tomb game at Clue Chase definitely set a new bar because of the detail and complexity (in a good way). The escape games I've played in the past are really linear so you could waste a lot of time if you get stuck early on. We liked how there were different puzzles to solve (just move onto something else if you get stuck and come back to the puzzle later) and different routes you could  take to win. (We escaped but only realized afterwards that we didn't do two of the puzzles.) Whenever we got really stuck, David would send us a clue or pop into the room to give us hints. (But he wouldn't just reveal the answers. Once at Komnata, the game master just gave us the combination to a lock and we were bummed because we wanted to figure it out ourselves.)After the game, David was great about explaining in detail the puzzles that we skipped and the history behind some of the room elements. He even let us see the other two rooms and talked a little about their 1,000-square-foot alien game coming in the fall. I think Clue Chase would be perfect for someone who has played a few escape games and wants to be challenged. My boyfriend and I lucked out and had the room to ourselves. We needed every minute plus more than a few hints from David to escape, but it wouldn't be entirely impossible if you're someone who's thinking about doing the game in a small group on a quieter night in the hopes that you'll get a private game. Amazing rooms! Stumbled upon this gem after leaving another room and were so happy to find they had slots open on a Friday night. Both the spy room and the Egyptian tomb rooms were extremely well themed, thoughtfully crafted and entertaining for our group of four. The rooms had enough puzzles to keep a larger group plenty busy, our group would have struggled if we hadnt done a lot of rooms together already. Highly recommend testing out these rooms if you have the chance! We will be back! More...

This was a lot of fun for the the two adults and two teens in our group. Very worth the money. Our "game" was for 4-10 people and when we first turned up and saw another family there I think we were all disappointed that it wasn't just us. But everyone agreed after that it would have been much harder to escape with just the four of us - there are just too many puzzles to solve - and the other family were great to work with. It was a good experience for my teens to have to collaborate with kids they'd never met before. The guide who gave us hints and nudged us along was really lovely and helpful. I could imagine someone becoming quite jaded and bored running these games multiple times every day, but he seemed genuinely enthusiastic and energetic about it. We all agreed that we'd definitely go back and try the other rooms. More...

This was an awesome activity. I completed the 1960s Cold War themed activity with 4 of my friends and 2 strangers who joined our group. The guide provided great advice, such as shouting out the clues when we found them so that we could all collaborate. I was nervous about the activity with strangers but we all got along very well, all focused on solving the clues. This was so much fun, very intellectually stimulating. I would recommend having a larger group (we had a total of 7) so that you can cover more ground in the hour long timeframe. Great team building event or group event with friends! I went with a group of six for a work event, and it was a huge success. We opted for the "Egyptian Tomb" adventure and were pleasantly surprised at the intricate nature of the puzzles and clues. Our guide came in from time to time to nudge us in the right direction given the complexity of some of the puzzles. Even though this could have been detracting from our experience, I thought that the guide came in at appropriate times and gave us the right level of guidance. Our group managed to escape with only one minute left. Highly recommended experience for those who are looking to challenge themselves and build their ability to communicate with fellow team members. After leaving, my team immediately asked to try another one of the rooms at Clue Chase because they had such a great time. My wife & I did the 'Egyptian Tomb' escape room and it was one of the most expensive-looking we have done. The "set" is really cool and has some nice hidden surprises to it. We had a lot of fun, but the reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I felt some of the puzzles were too convoluted. I like when puzzles have a certain intuitiveness to them that I felt some of these puzzles lacked. (Full disclosure: we didn't escape, so maybe I'm biased). One extra tip: Make sure you get there 15 minutes early! This building has security and it can take some extra time to get your ID badge, especially if you're in a large group. More...

We hosted two separate birthday parties for our tween children at Clue Chase over the last month.  Picking out an escape room was not easy as there are many options in Manhattan, but early Yelp reviews narrowed my choice to Clue Chase - we were not disappointed.  Dave and his team have been meticulous in arranging the themes - the clues, decor, and theatrics had the kids talk about how the rooms could be movie sets.  Some of the clues were challenging for tweens, but the game masters nudged them in the right direction without being overly prescriptive.  Dave suggested that we hide treats in some of the clue "boxes" and the kids loved that touch.  He also "warmed them" up with puzzles in the waiting room, some involving team work.  Clue Chase has an amazing maze coffee table - I might go back just to see if I solve it!While I understand that Clue Chase is building out another escape room, we were able to use a small room for our kids' parties.  We brought in pizza, drinks, and cakes - the kids had pizza, solved the room, then came back for cake, where they deconstructed the whole experience.  Dave responded to all my queries leading up to the parties and the events went off seamlessly, which does not always happen when time precludes visiting the venue in advance. The kids are now lobbying us to return to conquer the Eypgtian Tomb - and we plan to go back when our extended family is in town later in the month.  Can't wait to see how three generations escape the tomb!
