What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
Playing to the crowd is our key to keeping people dancing all night long. Feeding off of their energy and what type of genres and decades (ie. 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, today) they are responding to. Taking requests is also very important to keeping everyone happy. Keep the crowd happy!
What inspired you to start your own business?
I started to DJ back in the early 80s, originally doing it for friends parties, weddings and other small company events. Lots of folks told me I had quite an ear for music and what songs to play when to get the party energy happening and sustain it. Even back then I traveled with a very wide and large collection of music, covering all genres.
Regarding karaoke, I remember distinctly how it happened. In 1988, I saw karaoke for the first time in Charlotte. I was intrigued by the business potential along with the fact that I love to sing. After observing how the KJ treated his customers, giving preference to his friends and ignoring others, I decided to start my own karaoke business and pledged to never treat my customers that way.
