So many thanks to our guide, Lucas! My wife and I are from the area and had friends visit from NY. Rather than trying to figure out what to show them we did the taste of charlotte or what we called "eat, glide, and grin." So much fun. Even as residents, we learned so much and found places we've never seen. Lucas was awesome! Doesn't just know the tour speech, but really knows the history. And the food was perfect... Great selections! Where did we go You'll just have to find out yourselves. Highly recommended. Ask for Lucas. More...

Very nice bike tour we took on a Saturday morning/afternoon.They mentioned that they had new bikes. They had 7 speeds so that is a plus. The trip was very flat except for one small hill. Our guide was somewhat knowledgeable but keep things moving. You will visit 3 of the 4 areas of this pretty town.So go and enjoy this nice tour for under 35 bucks. More...

A great way to experience CharlotteWe were in the area for spring break. Found a segway food tour thru NC tours. It was Monday after Easter. It was going to be in the 70s and low humidity. I really wanted to aim to get this day versus any other day of the week because it was going to get hot the rest of the week. Scheduling was a bit bumpy, but the team really helped us out. They were understaffed and still found a way to accommodate us. Carol helped make the arrangements. She provide great directions/instructions for us to get there via text. Rod was our guide. He was so patient and accommodating. It was my husband, my 16 year old son and myself. We practiced outside and I was not doing great. Rod pulled me along with the tour. I was so grateful. I really got a chance to take in the tour without having to stress about driving the Segway. My son and husband were able to get the hang of it immediately. Once we were in flatter grounds, he had me try again, and I was able to do it! He was accommodating to what we want to get out of the tour. Given the teenager, I had opted to do some history but not a lot. And he did just that. We enjoyed the places we had visited for the food tour. The food we had were first for us. Always heard about it but just never tried it. It was a perfect weather day, no cloud in the sky. I truly appreciate Rod jumping in and giving us the tour even though he was not scheduled. We had a fabulous time. We highly recommend it to everyone. Also, the prices was excellent for the experience we got. More...

After taking the biking tour in the morning, which was wonderful, We decided to book the haunted walking tour for the evening. BIG MISTAKE! On our way to the meeting place, I received a phone call from the guide asking where we were supposed to meet, when I relayed the information to him, he stated he was "on his way". Upon arrival, he proceeded to read from his phone, blatantly make up facts, bypass several things that were pointed out to me on the biking tour which would have been great for the haunted walking tour such as the hanging tree, and played seriously ridiculous ghost sounds and music on his phone while walking through the neighborhoods. The hour and a half tour ended up being barely 60 minutes - much to our relief. Do not waste your time or money on the Haunted Walking tour. If you are able definitely take the bike ride tour and if you are lucky Ashby will be your guide! More...

Thank you Davis for such an excellent guided haunted tour through Charlotte.  Not only did we get a tour of the spirits in Charlotte, we finished on a positive note to a most beautiful place I had not been before.  This was my first time on a segway.  Davis made sure I knew what I was doing before we were off and running.  A few times I got stuck at the light he waited and gave clear instructions on being safe.  This young man did an excellent job as a guide.  I recommend NC tours while visiting Charlotte. I wanted to see Charlotte in a different way so I got my family to try Segways.  First we had group instructions and we all tried out the Segway so we could get comfortable with it.  The instructors were very patient and worked with each one of us.  Then we broke into 2 groups and rode through Charlotte on our Segways.  Our tour guide John was very passionate about Charlotte.  He gave us lots of facts and tidbits about the city.  He made sure we rode safely around traffic and pedestrians.  It was an awesome tour.  Riding a segway should be on your bucket list! It's become our thing for every new city we visit to try to do a Segway tour and the husband found this one via Groupon. Finding the place to meet up could have been tricky, but the place provides excellent directions and alerts to keep you on time. After a intro video, we went across the street to a garage where the Segways week stored.I'd like to see say we're pretty seasoned as using Segways, especially after our tour in San Francisco. Our tour guide, Rod, took half the group of the more experienced riders and made us do a little test of hopping on/off as well as maneuvering the Segways before we were off.Rod was an awesome tour guide. He seemed to know those random facts that you can't find easily online from showing us the building that Cam Newton & Michael Jordan live to a hidden painting in a bank building. I also loved that he made a point to help us take pictures of us on the Segways. Other tours we've been on make us fend for ourselves or we have to ask (but we don't want to come off so needy) We definitely learned a lot and recommend this as a fun way to explore the city! We scheduled our tour in December because that's when our son had time off as a Marine from Camp Lejeune. At the time our tour was scheduled it was 34 degrees and snowing. Clearly this isn't going to be a fun experience for anyone when it's so cold you can't appreciate the tour because your just trying to stay warm. Not to mention the potential safety issue associated with riding a Segway in the snow. Needless to say we cancelled and they refused to provide a refund. They did offer a gift certificate which does us no good since we will not be returning to Charlotte.I'm disappointed in the ethics of this business, choose to support this company if you like.Steve More...

As a first time visitor to Charlotte, this was an excellent way to get acquainted with the city. Our tour guide, John did a great job showing us how to ride the Segways & explaining the history, symbols, & key figures of Charlotte. The pace was perfect & it was just the right amount of information. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars was I prepaid for a 2 hour tour & when I got there, their computer said we had paid for only 90 minutes. John was great - gave us the full 2 hours but that is an issue that they'll want to correct. More...

My hubby and I had our friends in from Tampa and we thought a Segway tour would be the best way to show them the city! From the start, Carol was super helpful with our booking and when we arrived for our trip the next morning, we were welcomed by the vibrant James! He was like a jolt of espresso mixed with a slice of stand up comedy! A great way to start our adventure! John was our tour guide and he made sure we were all comfortable on our Segway prior to heading out. Gave great instructions on how to operate the machine and taught us things about the city we never knew (even though we have been in Ft. Mill for 16 years!). He stopped for the perfect photo opps and was more than happy to take the group photos so all could be in the memory. We later tried his restaurant suggestions and were glad we did! Que Onda was the best! We had so much fun that when our family came to visit a week later, we booked the same 2 hour tour with John and learned even more! Worth every penny! Thank you NC Tours! Exciting and fun! Newbie riders of the Segway should take time to practice on them before starting out so they will have confidence operating them. Charlotte streets are narrow and crowded, and the tour routes will pass parking garages where cars swoop fast down the ramps to the street. Segway riders need to know they can stop quickly and easily so there is no risk of a collision between Segway and automobile. More...

One of the best walking tours I've ever been on. I've been living here in Charlotte for two years now and I learned a ton! Our guide, Tremain, was engaging and entertaining. Despite being with a group of tired college kids, he remained patient and had a very chill attitude. We started out at Trade and Tryon and learned about the significance of the statues on each corner. We went inside the Bank of America building to see some artwork and walk through the mall. We then continued down to 7th Street Market where he gave us some time to look around and grab a coffee from Not Just Coffee. We walked by the new Google building, and since our group expressed interest, he was happy to take us on a detour and learn about that new technology in Charlotte. We then walked into 4th ward and 4th ward park, learning history all the while. Surprisingly, he does this for fun and isn't a trained historian! He's also grew up in Charlotte and is now heavily involved in Charlotte public policy and the 2020 plan, giving him awesome insight to the city. Highly recommend. Take his tour, even if you live here, you might learn something new! More...

Booked a 90 min tour to show the city off to my out of town guests.  Didn't quite know what to expect, especially 1) I myself have never been on a Segway before and 2) living in Charlotte for 20 years makes me think I'm an expert in showing folks around.  I was totally blown away at how easy it was to pick up using a Segway (you get a nice 30min training session before the tour starts so plan accordingly).  Also allow time for waiver signing and all that jazz.  They were very good about calling me the day before to let me know especially since Taste of Charlotte was opening that day so there would be some street closures.  Aside from being stressed out-we were coming in from Matthews so the commute on Independence sucks so bad...luckily we left early enough and were only 8 or 9 minutes late.  But still late... I hate being late.Anyways, there was one other gentleman in our tour group so I felt bad for the late start.  We quickly went through the orientation and got to training.  I'm so sorry but I never got the name of our tour guide... He was very good and knowledgable.  We had an assistant, Prince, who brought up the end of our tour group and gave us a lot of encouragement for first time Segway users.I'll leave a little mystery to the tour so that everyone takes it (no spoilers).  But we traveled throughout uptown... First, second, third, and fourth wards.  Believe me, I definitely learned a lot of history and saw some things I had not seen in my Charlotte residency since '96.The shop is located in Overstreet Mall and not a lot of people get there (save for  Uptown workers) so give your self some extra time to access the Overstreet Mall from wherever you park.  It's right at the end of the skybridge that connects Founders Hall and the Omni Hotel buildings, next to the shoe repair and key shop.  We only spent a few minutes in the shop for orientation (video), but it looks like they sell merchandise there... hoverboards... and maybe some affiliation with the b-cycle program (maybe you can sign up for subscriptions here for bike sharing station around town).  After orientation, we went downstairs through the Omni parking garage to the segways where we had a small orientation on the side walk until we were all comfortable with operating the segways.Overall a great tour!  I would definitely do it again (I'm a big history nerd) but it's an easy way to see the city without too much walking, plus its fun!  I was just relieved I didn't fall on my butt or break any teeth. I have lived in Charlotte for a couple years now and have visited uptown multiple times so i figured the tour was going to be nothing new to me but I had a friend visiting from California so I figured she can get an idea of what charlotte is all about during this tour. We bought the $55 for 1.5 hours (only because the 1 hour tour wasn't available at the time) Lets just start off saying, it was so much fun! So much better than what I was expecting. Our tour guide James Rice was fabulous! He was so funny and just overall a great tour guide. It was just my friend and I on the tour and in the beginning, we were really struggling getting the hang of riding the segways but James made sure we knew he had our backs and he let us practice in the parking lot a couple times before hitting the streets (sidewalks lol.) He was very patient with us and was willing to take a lot of pictures for my friend and I. I told my boyfriend and his friend about my experience and although they have lived in Charlotte all of the their lives, they seem really excited to try it out. This was my first time visiting Charlotte, and I was really looking forward to this segway tour. I had originally scheduled it for Saturday afternoon, and had to reschedule it to Sunday afternoon due to a conflict in my schedule. The site says that any rescheduling done under 24 hours cannot be honored, but they honored it anyway, so big thumbs up for excellent customer service! When buying my ticket online, I pre-paid for a parking voucher in the parking garage for $12 which is convenient, but I wouldn't do that again next time. There was a parking garage 3 blocks down, and across the street from the Mint Museum for only $5, so save your money! When I arrived at the office, we signed our waivers, watched the instructional video, and strapped our helmets on. We then spent about 45 minutes in the parking garage getting individual lessons and doing practice runs on our segways. Learning was soooo quick and easy, anyone can do it! Once everyone was comfortable with their skill levels, we were off for our tour! It was cold outside, and my hands were freeeeezing, so I do advise to bring gloves and make sure you dress warm depending on what time of year you go.James Rice was such a fantastic, knowledgeable, and high energy tour guide that I feel so lucky for being assigned to his tour! I did the 1.5 hour historical tour of uptown, and it was the perfect amount of time. I wouldn't do any shorter or any longer than that. I learned so much about Charlotte that I'm even considering moving down there later on down the road. This city is awesome and full of rich history, green efforts and appreciation of the arts, and initiatives to optimize the working, living, and social lives of each resident in its community. Had to cancel because one of the people in our group was feeling sick.  Went through a big process with the manager talking to the owner on the phone and FINALLY they said we'd get a refund.  2 months later, still no refund!  That's the definition of stealing to me.  Don't trust these people! 3-4 hr southern food bike tour review $385 for 5 of us and a big disappointment. Our tour guide said he was a fan of the history of clt so he'd be talking about the city. The only thing about the city we heard was about a chicken statue that looked like a disco ball. This was very unorganized.  The first 20 min the guide had to adjust our seats on the bikes. I don't understand why they don't have the lever adjusters. None of the restaurants were expecting us. There was not an advantage of being on a tour. Our guide clearly did not know what tour we were on and kept saying we were running an hour behind?  He must have thought we were on the 2.5 hr tour. We had requested Segway tour which they were trying to work out and asked if we could come early so we were psyched. We showed up and had a bike tour :( We bended over to accommodate them but they certainly did not us. What we came out of today is a learning of our guides personal life. One of our 3 stops was at a market and he grabbed 2 tubs of pimento cheese and a bag of chips and we sat a at picnic table. Weird. My recommending is to rent a bike in uptown for $5 and do your own tour.  Big disappointment - not a tour at all really. More...

I booked a 1.5 hours tour as a team building exercise for my company.  Rod was great warning us not to get ourselves freaked out by the required safety video (which truly was a bit disconcerting but truly nothing to worry about if you don't behave like an fool on the machine).  Our tour guide was James Rice the Third - not the first, not the second, but the third (he does an adorable spiel!)  with Tremaine assisting our group of 10 plus a sweet couple visiting from MD.  After the safety video, we were taken to a quiet area outside to get acquainted with the Segways and although EVERYONE felt nervous we quickly caught on and away we went.  The tour was entertaining, with fun tidbits about the city and its history and a good balance of hurrying up to get everything crammed in at 12 mph and leisure to take pics and enjoy the sights.  We learned some really cool things about the city and all of my co-workers not only had a blast but felt comfortable at our varying paces of speed demon to nervous granny.  I would absolutely go again and definitely request James as my guide.  I'm told not only is there the tour we went on, but a ghost tour and a food tour.  I'll be back :) More...

My husband and I were in Charlotte for the first time, with plans to do a few activities.  We scheduled the Segway tour at the last minute, but so happy we did.  The Segway, with a little guidance, is very intuitive.  And I can't say enough good things about Tremaine, our guide.  He was very knowledgeable and fun.  We learned quite a bit about Charlotte and had a great time! I shouldn't even rate the business since we didn't even get to go on the tour.  I read through their material on the website very carefully and realized that with the threat of thunderstorms, I shouldn't buy the tickets ahead of time - we only had this one evening when we could go for the 6 pm tour so if it poured and the tour was cancelled, I'd be out the money for tickets.  At 5 pm I called to find out if there were spaces available but got an answering machine.  We battled traffic, found parking, went to the office at 5:45 only to find out they didn't have any reservations for that tour so it wasn't going.  Maybe I missed it but I didn't see anywhere on their webpage that this was a possibility.  It was very awkward, unprofessional, and disappointing.  Traffic was so bad to leave the city again at 6 pm that we just walked around on our own, rather than sit in rush hour traffic to get back to our hotel.  Just a warning to be sure that there is a tour going out and to reserve ahead of time. My experience isn't the norm here I would have to say.  I went on a segway tour from this company with my co-workers.  Everything was great and fun and we had a beautiful Fall day.No issues EXCEPT when we actually started the tour my segway could not keep up with the group.  Everyone including the tour guide kept giving me tips on what i was doing wrong.  Literally I was a block behind my entire group - even strangers were commenting 'Geez you are a slow poke!'  I thought - geez this is harder than it looks!Well it turns out about 1.5 hours into our 2 hour tour that my segway was broken or on something like a Demo mode.  The tour guide made an adjustment and Voila!  Magically the machine was fixed.  No apology or offer of a refund.  What a bummer.  Probably won't do this again here in Charlotte.  What a waste of money. I got to ride on a Segway for 2 hours. I learned a LOT about our fair city. And I've lived here for 5 years! We took the in-laws while they were in town and we all had a fantastic experience. It takes a few minutes to get used to riding the Segway, but once you have it figured out, it's incredibly intuitive. Also, fun fact, it's a personal transport vehicle, in the same category as a wheelchair (or hoveround). So it's allowed inside buildings and anywhere that is wheelchair accessible. You'll get some funny looks from passersby who are intrigued by a group of people wobbling about on Segways, but it's a great way to see a lot of town with minimal effort. The tour guides are entertaining, knowledgable and excellent Segway instructors. They really make the experience worthwhile. So next time you're looking for something fun to do around town and have some cash to spare, consider taking a Segway tour with Charlotte NC Tours. It is REALLY fun, and educational. Just like PBS. More...

Even after living in Charlotte for 4 years I learned plenty of new things A) about Charlotte and B) in Charlotte (Uptown specifically). Our city has a greatly rich history and the guys that run Charlotte Tours do a fantastic job in making it fun and interesting. My folks were in town for the weekend and my dad mentioned taking a Segway tour when he was in Chicago with my brother. As we were driving through Uptown on a Sunday, we decided to try and book one for the afternoon in Uptown. Gave these guys a ring and they had space for 4. Perfect! Booked it, showed up on time, and away we went. The whole experience is great. They teach you how to ride a Segway so you can't fail. Then, the tour can take you all sorts of places. The French Quarter, around what is soon-to-be Romare Bearden Park, Fourth Ward Neighborhood and Park, 7th St, and tons of other places. We enjoyed it so much. Namely, Jordan and Luke are the best guides they have. They are young guys with great senses of humor. Ask for them specifically if you ever go. At a rate of $55 for an hour and a half tour on a segway, I'd do it again in a heartbeat. There's also a 2-hour version for $65, I believe. They also host a ton of other tours -- Bike, bus, walking, Ghost tours, etc. It might be touristy, but I can't wait to take another tour with friends or more family! More...

Charlotte local here but I've been on two Charlotte NC Tours now. As a work teambuiliding exercise we took the uptown Segway tour. It was a blast and even though I've lived here many years I saw and learned a few new Charlotte secrets. We have a variety of ages in our office and everyone had a great time. The manperson and I took the Bike n Brewery tour last night as part of CRVA's Stride and Ride event. We had an absolute blast traveling through Southend on our colorful cruisers and sampling some great Charlotte beer along the way. The only recommendation I'd make is for the tour company to have an agreement with the breweries for at least a small sample of beer instead of having to buy at every stop. We were on a free tour so absolutely no complaints for that but I think if I'd paid full price I'd at least want a drink ticket or two. Thanks guys for a great Saturday night! More...

I had been meaning to finally get on a Segway and finally got the chance last week. It was a cold October day, with highs barely in the 50s and a brisk wind. Needless to say, it was pretty lousy Segway weather. Our tour guide took us outside and taught us briefly how to use the Segway. It was quite easy. We did the tour around Fourth Ward and BOA stadium. I learned so much I didn't know about Charlotte even though I've lived here for 6 and a half years now. Highlights included Elmwood Cemetery, historic Fourth Ward, and Bank of America Stadium. It was so cold that it was hard to enjoy the tour, but I learned a lot and felt that it was well worth the Groupon. Had a blast today riding a segway & touring uptown Charlotte! Nick was our guide and did a fabulous job. We started off with 20 minutes of training on the segway and off we went. Got to see parts of Charlotte that I hadn't seen before - The Green, Panthers practicing and the ever quaint 4th ward not to mention all the pubs and restaurants that are in and around the uptown area. What a great way to see the city! My only issue initially was not knowing where to park and finding the tour group but that is because I don't know uptown very well. Make sure you give yourself  an extra 20 minutes or so if your unsure. Otherwise, it's a great way to see Charlotte. I highly recommend it! More...

Tremane is the best Charlotte tour guide one could ask for.  I recently had friends in from out of the country, I gave NC Tours a call and basically begged for a 2 hour walking tour on day everyone had off. They came through with flying colors and really helped me out.  My guests LOVED the tour and were very impressed.  This is my 2nd tour with Tremane, my first was in Sept. on a Segway - again, Fabulous!!! As experienced Segway riders, we are always looking for something more than the usual "introductory tour". We saw the 2.5-hour "Advanced" tour, and signed up. Due to weather, we ended up changing days at the last minute, and Dianna was very accomodating. As it turns out, we were the only ones on that tour, so we ended up with a "private" one! Tremaine (sorry if I've mispelled it!), our tour guide, was AWESOME!!! After a quick test to see that we really did know how to ride, we took off. He took us all over the place, visiting neighborhoods and areas that we never would have tripped upon ourselves. He obviously has a passion for Charlotte, having grown up there, and it showed. We got our full 2.5 hours (and then some), and think that this is probably the best tour we have taken so far on Segways. If you are an experienced rider, I would definitely recommend taking one of the advanced tours. And, ask for Tremaine!!! More...

Soooo much fun!!  A friend and I were visiting Charlotte for leisure and thought that the Charlotte NC Tours segway tour would be a fun way to explore downtown.  Man, my friend and I had so much fun!  Rod was an excellent tour guide.  He was really knowledgeable about the city's history and he had such a fun personality!  Lil' Rod (not to be confused with Rod), instructed us how to operate the segways.  He was also well informed and made us feel confident on the segways within minutes.  We opted for the The Victorian Era - Center City - Historic 4th Ward tour and enjoyed every minute of it.  My friend and I were lucky because the other people that were supposed to come on the tour didn't show up, so it was just my friend, Rod the guide and myself.  Very personalized!  All of the staff that we met were very friendly and left us with a wonderful impression of the city.  Loved it!

We scheduled our tour in December because that’s when our son had time off as a Marine from Camp Lejeune. At the time our tour was scheduled it was 34 degrees and snowing. Clearly this isn’t going to be a fun experience for anyone when it’s so cold you can’t appreciate the tour because your just trying to stay warm.

Needless to say we cancelled and they refused to provide a refund.

I’m disappointed in the ethics of this business, choose to support this if you like.
