Went there for brunch with a friend on a Saturday morning. Knew they would be massively crowded, so sent off an email at midnight on Friday to get a reservation for 2 at 11:30 a. m. I got an immediate response from the owner, Millie.We got there about 10 minutes late. (The parking lot was jammed but I got lucky.) My friend went on ahead to salvage our reservation.We waited a minute or two surrounded by about 10 other people waiting to be seated. I spied a few seats open at the end of a long table which seated other guests and I motioned to it and said to my friend that I'd be fine sitting there. The hostess either had the same plan or overheard me -- and we were seated immediately, honoring our reservation.We ordered big: cappuccino, cafe au lait, a charcuterie plate, a side salad, a Belgian waffle, eggs a la king (poached eggs, house gravlax, sweet potato latke, tarragon hollandaise), and some beignets.The coffees and beignets were brought first. The beignets were snug and warm in a brown paper bag. They were tender on the inside, crunchy on the outside, lightly dusted with confectioner's sugar. Outrageously good. The picture I'm attaching is of me after my second bite, in food nirvana, without words...delighted.The rest of the brunch came in due time -- we were not rushed and it was paced perfectly.We got the charcuterie on a cross-cut round wooden plank, and it consisted of wafer thin salami, prosciutto, gherkins, olives, nuts, cheddar and bleu cheeses, and crispy toasted crostini points. A Belgian waffle with maple syrup, the eggs a la king, the side salad with fresh micro greens, multicolored cherry tomatoes, baby spinach, and a grainy, vinegary dressing...one dish after the other: impeccable, flavorful, plated well, delicious.As we were eating, a woman approached our table and said, "Are you Lee?" I said I was, and it was the owner, Millie, checking in with us. (Remember: Millie and I emailed at midnight during the evening to set up the reservation?!)We had a friendly, warm, quick chat. I was utterly impressed that she figured out who I was and came over to greet us.This was my second visit to C'est la Vie. It takes firm root as my favorite, flawless restaurant. The building is a converted Victorian home, unpretentious and whimsical without being coy. It is rustic and pretty, with mismatched place settings, tables, and chairs. It is charming. This is the second time we went here, but the first time we had to run and take it to go. This time we got to settle in and enjoy ourselves! Hot cider and a full coffee menu. This place is a surprising find for me. The owner made some creative use of an old mansion and turned it into a wonderfully cozy restaurant. The food is both creative and yummy. The French press coffee alone is worth coming back. I had the creme brûlée French toast which topped the toast with egg custard and caramelized sugar instead of syrup. Best breakfast/brunch place in the area! C'est La Vie Bistro offers a great variety of egg, crepe, pancake and french toast dishes at a very reasonable price. Their eggs benedict had pork belly and ham which was a great twist to traditional eggs benny. I also tried the creme brulee french toast- it was tasty but the texture was quite mushy due to it being oven baked. Wait staff was very attentive and always made sure we had water or more coffee if we wanted it. The interior was quirky with fun tables and decorations. I love this restaurant. I go here with my boyfriend and friends as often as I can. We sometimes bring my dog Ginny. I love that dogs are allowed indoors as well. It's a very unique offer for dog lovers. I've never found another restaurant like this. The food is fantastic. I usually get one of their delicious appetizers and the grav lax as my meal which is salmon on a bagel. The hot chaud is to die for. In the summer I enjoy the Chaider. I love the vibe of this place. The wait staff are always friendly and eager to serve. They always bring my dog Ginny water and they pet her too! I can't brag enough about this place. Would go every weekend if I could. My husband and I have tried this wonderful cafe' out twice now. The first time they were quite busy but true to the time the owner Millie said we would wait, we were seated at a quaint little table and Sarah came over to us right away. I asked her about the Creme burlee and the way she described this decadent breakfast, I was sold! My husband had the eggs Benedict special which included pastrami- OMG! The main purpose for my hiring Pestmaster is tick control with organic products. It seems to be working well. When we have lots of rain---and it is early spring---the tick control was not as reliable as during the summer months---even when it rained. Timing of the treatments is important.
