It wasn't just a lecture with her photos as examples--she created a Facebook page for those of us in the class, and over the next month we were given assignments and our photos were critiqued. Getting the photos back from our daughter's wedding, many people who are reserved in their compliments, went on and on about these super special moments that were captured in these photos. Not only that, but Casie managed to capture the story of a very special day to the point that friends who were not even there were enthralled with the emotions, excitement and beauty. Casie has made me a believer in documentary family photography. She photographed my toddler daughters meeting their baby brother for the first time. Not only did she capture the sweet moments of them fawning over him and kissing his forehead, but she caught the hilarious moments in between; my husband yawning as chaos unfolds around him, my 19 month old playing with the hospital bed and my parents in the middle of their signature belly laughs that occur at every family gathering. Casie was absolutely amazing! She really took the time to get to know my husband and I as a couple prior to our big day. It was clearly important to her to understand the essence of our relationship, what matters most to us and the vision we had for our wedding. When it came to our wedding day, Casie was everything we hoped for in a photographer. She was helpful in directing guests for the best photos when needed, but mostly blended in the background and captured the candid happiness and love that was so prevalent throughout the day.Casie was absolutely wonderful to work with from beginning to end. Casie was the perfect choice for our wedding. We really related to her laid back, yet professional approach. We didn't have a wedding planner and she was able to provide valuable planning suggestions leading up to our wedding day. During our wedding, she was incredible - keeping us on time, working in the background while we were getting ready, and allowing us to have our moments while capturing the emotion of the day. In a situation that could be awkward (posing for pictures), she made us feel at ease and created an environment where we had fun, which is reflected in the pictures. I knew right away upon viewing the photos on Casie's website that her style would fit perfectly with our wedding--and my intuition was spot on! Casie was a delight to work with from start to finish. She was great about following up with us whenever we had questions and ensuring that we got the photography experience we were looking for. At the wedding, she was very professional and remarkably unobtrusive. She is a true master at beautifully capturing people completely in their element without disrupting the flow of the event. I loved Casie’s work when I first saw her work at the Boulder Wedding Showcase. When we set up a time to meet with her, we really felt she was the right person for the job. She seemed to blend so well with our personalities… easy going, energetic and always happy. These characteristics were important to us to make our wedding day fun and stress free. She also really took the time to get to know us as a couple: how we met, our likes and dislikes, our family dynamics. We brought up ideas for our save the date and what we wanted the look of our photos to be. Casie was great to collaborate on these ideas, as well as making great suggestions on the locations, and took the time to incorporate our ideas into our engagement photos which made us feel comfortable and at ease the day of our wedding. Casie put me at ease from the first moment we met. She is warm and funny and a positive presence plus has a stunning portfolio of work. Her use of natural light and night-time photos are spectacular. During the vendor selection process she gave me the best advice about picking a photographer; that you have to go with someone you want to have by your side on your wedding day because they are right there with all day. It was fantastic advice and was so true. Some of my favorite pictures are of my new husband and I cracking up because Casie was making us laugh so hard. The contract process was very simple. Prepping the shot list for the big day was easy. My wedding was destination so these were key for me as I had very limited time to do any prep onsite. We have seen Casie shoot in the worst possible conditions: Our engagements shots were in a blizzard; our wedding was on a terribly rainy, grey day.
