In July and August 2019, Steve Miller and his skilled team of contractors successfully completed multiple outdoor projects for our home in Memphis, TN.  The projects included trim/soffit repairs, building a beautifully crafted and "custom" pump box enclosure (which Steve personally designed), and installing a professional and functional drain for heavy rains.  We're very pleased with Steve's high level of quality work, his professionalism, his responsiveness, his dependability, and his superior customer service overall.  In addition, we greatly appreciate that he did not "nickel and dime" us for every little small ancillary task, plus his pricing was very fair for any small or large scope changes. We will undoubtedly call Steve again for any other home repairs, and we look forward to referring him to our family and friends as well.  Excellent job, Steve! More...

This review is different from others you have read in that I had no work done by Carpenter Works.  I had a gable built over a barn roof that covered my den which was an add on.  The ceiling seemed to be separating from the walls.  I thought that I had major wall and foundation problems  due to the extra weight and was prepared for the worse news.     Steve Miller, the proprietar, was recommended by a friend who has known and worked with him for many years.  Mr. Miller checked my roof, gable, walls( inside and out) as well as my foundation and assured me that the house was in good shape.  The previous carpenter used the old crown moulding and did not adequately nail it.  Imagine the relief.  It turned out to be a simple repair that I can do myself.Mr. Miller could certainly have taken me for a ride.  A less scrupulous person would have done so.  This review is based on the work that he did not do.  I expect that the quality of their work would coincide with their integrity.  Tops.  I would call them should I have work to be done. Let me be clear, they in no way compensated me for this review that is about to be submitted.I placed an ad through Thumbtack for the creation of a door that was not necessarily done before. Due to space constraints, I wanted a pocket door, but didn't want to cut the wall, so I settled on a barn door, but wanted it split as to save space on either side. When I called Steve Miller, he said emphatically, "yeah, I think we can do that". He and Dave (one of his workers came) and after hearing my idea, you could tell the ideas were percolating. He came up with a great idea for the split barn door and gave me options of whether to go cheap or if I wanted it to be perfect what it would be (I chose the latter). To be honest, the price was well under what I thought it would be by many hundreds of dollars. I also asked about replacing the front door, of which he said was no problem.Steve guided me to the find the best wood people in town to make sure I got a quality product and made sure I got the best prices. All was set and done until I removed an embedded counter that showed broken tile and sheetrock underneath. No matter. . .Steve was able to fit that in as well. His tile guy, Nick, was phenomenal and was a true artist and professional in his work. They set the tile, fixed the grout, fixed the drywall and replaced the baseboards. It looks completely brand new. While doing this, they were able to install the new door, create the new split barn door (with Julie, who is an artist and visionary in her own right) leading the design of it. Even though I was a bad client (adding more jobs on top one right after the other), it was done better than when I bought the house.Steve is a great boss to his people. He treats them well, and more importantly, he respects and values their opinions and help. They revere him and it shows in the quality of work and efficiency of which the tasks were completed. More importantly, when you see their minds work (including Steve as the architect), it is like watching real artists work, not just laborers. They take great pride in their art and I am extremely happy with the products. When it was all completed, the price was not commensurate with the quality of work involved. He could have charged me a few hundred dollars more and it would have still been a value. Steve Miller and his crew are top professionals and I guarantee that anytime I need a project done, they are number one on the list. You will not go wrong hiring them and I can promise it will be an enjoyable experience for all. More...

Carpenter Works Memphis (featuring Mr. Steve Miller) is a stellar group of fine carpenters in the city of Memphis, TN. After searching the internet for multiple days for a carpenter in Memphis - that we could trust - I was glad to find the team at Carpenter Works Memphis (carpenterworksmemphis. com). We've hired them for two separate jobs over the past year, including: (1) a custom built-in bookcase around our fireplace with adjustable shelving up top and a cabinet base and (2) a redesign of our sunroom, including new crown molding, trim and paint. Note: Steve is not a hurry up and finish contractor, in fact he is a very meticulous, attention to detail contractor. He makes sure that the project is done to perfection. You will be hard-pressed to find someone else in the city of Memphis better than him. Pricing was reasonable and we are extremely happy with the finished results. We are already planning for future projects and will absolutely hire this team to handle the job. More...
