I am a psychologist in private practice in Beverly Hills since 1984, working with adults to help them increase their enjoyment in life, decrease their stress, enhance their relationships, and develop their capacity for love and intimacy.
For over 25 years, I have concentrated on helping people who are victims traumatic experiences get their lives back together. In working with these people and their families, I have developed specialties in the broader areas of stress, addictions (substances and behaviors), trauma, and people's recovery.
I hold the American Psychological Association’s Certificate of Proficiency in the Treatment of Alcohol and Other Psychoactive Substance Use Disorders (active since 1996). I also hold a Diplomate from the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress (active since 1997). For ten years I was chair/co-chair of the Victim Treatment Committee of the Los Angeles County Psychological Association.
I have been a local and international speaker, lecturer, and presenter, for professional and general audiences, on topics including depression, anxiety, trauma, psychological recovery for victims of violent crime, relationships, self-esteem, bioenergetic analysis, the mind/body connection, and gay/lesbian/bisexual issues. I have been interviewed for TV, radio, and various forms of print and Internet media on a range of issues concerning clinical psychology.
I have had three articles published in Psychoanalytic Psychology, January 2008, on issues regarding treatment of trauma. I have also written four books on trauma and its treatment, with a particular focus on psychoanalytic understandings and applications.
Saved my life.
