My cat had an emergency and needed to be seen in a busy Saturday. They were honest and upfront about prices and what was to be expected. I was able to drop her off and the Dr saw her in between appointments and was able to diagnose my cat. The dr even took the time to speak with us when we came to pick her up. Dr. Mendise is wonderful. She is caring and thorough and doesn't make you feel rushed. I've also had a pet here and have seen Dr. Wages, who I found to be no nonsense and willing to answer all of my questions. The staff is always kind and helpful. The only negative, and it's a small one, is that I have always arrived on-time, or early, and typically wait quite a while, 20 or 30 minutes past my appointment time. I'm willing for that to be the case, however, if it means they spend quality time with me and my pet, when it's our turn. I highly recommend Care First and Dr. Mendise and Dr. Wages. More...

I have been taking my dogs to Dr. Joe Gordon and his staff since just after they opened. This would be in the late 1980's or early 1990's? They are the best in knowledge and skill, the best in procedure and bed-side manner. The techs are handpicked from the top undergrad students in NCSU's animal science programs. Many go on to vet school - including the last vet I saw there. So even the techs are quite knowledgeable and helpful. Then only the best vets are hired - some of whom go on to open their own practices.One small thing, whenever I go in they remember me and they remember my dog's name. I'll be talking with a vet on one side of the lobby when a tech, a dog trainer, someone who bathes animals, ... will flash past on the other side of the lobby. I'll hear them cheerily call out, "Hey Jack!" as they go by. That means more than you might think.They are simply the best. More...

I have been taking my dogs to them since they opened in the late 1980's or early 1990's. They are simply the best. Had my dog in for a bath when Dr. Wages strolled past and noticed a pea-sized bump under the skin at the front of my dog's rear leg. She wasn't there to examine him, the bump was nearly invisible. Today was our first time here, and I was beyond impressed. Every single human in this clinic was kind, friendly, helpful, and patient. The vet and vet tech/assistant were both amazing! My cat was being very sensitive and moody because he was feeling so uncomfortable, especially near his ears (he has an ear infection) and they were so good to him. Nobody pushed his limits to get more of what they were hoping to do, they were super loving but also knew when to give him space. Super intuitive, amazing staff. So glad I found Care First Oberlin! I just moved to the area and am always nervous finding a new vet for my dog. I took my yorkie to Dr. Wages after her regular vet (Banfield) told me she had a trachea issue and there was nothing they could do for her. I was on the verge of having her put down because her breathing was so bad and she was suffering but wanted a second opinion first. Dr. Wages immediately diagnosed her with elongated soft palate, it was not a trachea issue at all!! After a quick 30 min procedure my furbaby was breathing again. The team at Glenwood takes such good care of Clyde, and when Emma was with us they cared for her like she was their own. They are always smiling and are so welcoming. I travel quite a bit and when I have a last minute trip they always find space for Clyde. Dr. Riego and Matt took such good care of us when Emma was sick and helped me through the hardest decision I have ever had to make. I have a 12 year old cat who I felt was not acting himself, so I took him to Care First Animal Hospital. He has been a patient there for years. I saw Dr. Riego and vet tech Garrett. They had impeccable bedside manner, were thorough and honest, they clearly love their work and animals, and they answered all of my questions with patience and comprehensiveness. We've been coming there for over 20 years now. We've had rescue animals come and go (old age, rainbow bridge) and over the past 20 years Dr. Joe and later on Dr. Wages has shepherded each one. we live waay up in wake forest now and we still ALWAYS make the drive to see Page Wages and Dr. Joe way down on Oberlin Road. We are greeted like family by Marsha and the front staff. Our Animals are known by name...everyone remembers "Little Dog" lol We can never say enough good about this place or about Dr. Wages. Living in the Triangle, you have many choices for your pet as far as their care. I personally have used Care First Animal Hospital for my GSD puppy. He has been through neutering and micro-chipping.
