Captain’s Table runs hot and cold. Sometimes it is great, other times, just acceptable. The service, although adequate, lacked that extra something that makes you want to return. The hostess could not smile for fear another crack would appear. The waitress had just one too many tables to care for. I had the prime rib special, my husband had the rack of lamb. Both were great. Generous portions. He had oysters Rockefeller and I had a cup of chowder. Both excellent. Met friends for lunch at the Captain's Table and we had a thoroughly wonderful experience. Of course, the view was lovely of the harbor and docked boats. Service and food was very good with generous portions. Had the blackened grouper fish which was done perfectly. Friends had the fish and chips and a special of eggs benedict with a lobster hollandaise. All very nice and the shops near the restaurant were also fun to walk through. We were recently in Port Charlotte to visit relatives and my son and daughter in law wanted to see a Florida sunset and I wanted seafood so I came across The Captains Table in Fisherman's Village. What a phenomenal experience! It wasn't very crowded when we arrived so we were seated right away. Our party included myself my son and his wife and my 14 month old granddaughter. Our server was so great and the food was AMAZING I got the Fisherman's Platter it came with grilled shrimp, scallops, and grouper and sides of garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus.My son had the Seafood Conquistador which he loved and my daughter got the Surf and Turf which she said was delicious.Saw a beautiful sunset, had a magnificent meal with people I love.
