Great food and service
Great for a birthday lunch or date night dinner!
Great food! Top notch service.
Capri is a gem and our go to place for special occasions. The authentic Italian dishes are first rate along with the attentive wait staff. My Linguini Nero with Calamari was excellent with just the right amount of kick to it. We'll be back soon. More...
What a wonderful experience tonight. The appetizers were flavorful, the entrees were delicious and dessert was out of this world. We started with the calamari as well as an Italian sausage style appetizer which was so flavorful we wanted more but we had so much more to come. My wife and I split the lasagna but we both said we should have gotten our own meals because of how good it was. For dessert, we decided on the Bananas Foster and it made for a perfect ending for a perfect dinner. I'm terrible with names but I do know our server was Domenic but the rest of the staff including the bartender were tremendous. We definitely will be back. The others in our party had the manicotti, gnocchi, and two other dinners and everyone was wanting more. Thanks for a memorable evening!!!! More...
Great food and atmosphere
Lovely restaurant in quaint downtown Downers Grove. My husband and I enjoyed a healthy, delicious lunch. Being GF I was happy to have many options to choose from.
Lovely restaurant with very good food and good wine too. The restaurant stuff was very nice and with all these good factors combined we had a very nice evening in Downers Grove. The manager was very supportive especially when we asked for an old school TAXI...he was able to manage this strange demand. We had to wait very long time for the taxi and during this time the manger made sure that we get not lost in downtown Downers Grove. Thanks for a great evening! More...
Entire staff was very friendly and provided great service. Food was very good and brought in a timely fashion. The only down side to the restaurant is the extremely high ceilings - was not crowded when we were there and the noise level was pretty high. I will definitely eat there again and would highly recommend. More...
Great service and extremely delicious handmade pasta and italian cuisine
Extremely delicious and great service. We had the Capri Calamari and the clams in white sauce for appetizer. Both were delicious. The white wine sauce was heavier on the white wine flavor than I'm used to, but still good. I had the fettuccine con verde. Absolutely delicious. The Prosecco cream sauce was perfect and the fettuccine was done exactly right. My fiancé had the chicken Parmesan and he loved it. We had the carrot bundt cake with vanilla ice cream and it was light and decadent. Our server was really helpful and quick. I definitely have a new favorite place. More...
Adrian makes the best Lemon Drop Martinis in all of western suburbs.
Incredible food and service! we came here late on a Saturday night they sat us right away on the patio, service was excellent and the food was aaaammmazing! We ordered the special, chicken parm lasagana with a Vodka sauce- OMG! And calamari. Patio was peaceful even being on a street corner, also great for people watching More...
Great food! Great Service! Great ambience!
Classy and delicious.
Surely a spot worth trying, the food is great and well prepared, the rates are affordable and it is regularly well kept there. Kudos.
Excellent food and staff
Nice place to bring friends
came from the Chicago area for a date with my wife and the moment we came in Me and my Wife were greated by the bartender Adrian. We sat at the bar where he provided great recommendations like the spicy calamari which is the best I ever had hands down. we received great service while he managed the bar and answering calls for pickups. If your looking for great food and service come to capri downers grove and adrian will not be disappointed. More...
Great food, owner was very friendly and excellent service.
I was very impressed by the quality of the food, everything tasted good, service was excellant.
Good food at good prices, but the location is even better. From train watching to people watching and easy access to a post meal stroll around downtown, Capri is a good place to visit.
Great service. Lots of choices. Had a Monk fish special that was really nice -loved the au gratin potatoes and perfectly steamed broccoli sides. Gelato for dessert was exceptionally tasty. More...
Private Sunday party, good service, good food. Smaller portions, smaller corner restaurant.
Capri is always a great option. The food is consistently delicious. Service is always prompt and the tableside Bananas Foster is a must see/have. We always have a great meal here.

A nice place and a nice location, with good food. It didn't leave me with the impression of being an outstanding Italian restaurant, but it is a good one.
Got a reservation for six a lot easier than anticipated for an early father's day dinner. Everyone ordered something different off their extensive menu. Lots of very clean plates and two take home containers. No room for dessert. Service was very good. More...
Great location, great ambient, excellent food!
!Really love the food here. Service is great too. Never had a bad dish here. Highly recommend!
I love Italian food

Service and staff are always friendly and welcoming. You can never leave this place hungry. Portions are more than enough! Prices are reasonable. Anyone who claims Gattos to be better is just looking for a cheap night out, you get what you pay for. Fine dining isn’t supposed to be cheap. More...
Great fresh Italian food but no pizza at this location.
We love Capri. The atmosphere is cozy but contemporary, and never loud. We always request Domenic when he is working, and he gives us amazing service on every visit. The food is always fresh, and the drinks are always delicious. Some of my favorite dishes include the Gnocchi Bolognese, Chicken Francese, & Eggplant Parmesan, which the latter is the best I've had at any restaurant. My fiancee and I love Capri so much that we booked our wedding there for later this year. Capri does accept phone reservations in advance, which is great incase you are dining at a busier time of day. More...
Very friendly staff.

Tasty whitefish with lemon sauce, artichokes and angel hair! Yummy lava cake!
Want to send this note in regards to the staff at Capri in Downers Grove. Our family has been coming for years and they always make us feel welcome. My mother is handicapped and they always roll out the red carpet for her making her feel very comfortable and not stand out. This, along with the amazing food/drinks, makes it a must visit in my book. More...
I've dined here several times, the service and food is consistently outstanding. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, yet elegant and upscale, without the high prices.
I hadn't been in a while so I was very happy to see they delivered excellent food and good service.
Excellent service, good food. We had the bruschetta and baked clams for appetizers and enjoyed both! Also ordered the veal limón and the four cheese gnocchi. The veal was a small portion and somewhat tough. The sauce that accompanied it was good though. The gnocchi was outstanding! What the veal lacked, the gnocchi compensated for. We had a great server, Amanda, and really enjoyed our time with her. Good environment, good location, a little crowded. Would definitely come back to try more of their menu! More...
My husband and I had dinner at Capri of Downers Grove this evening and every bite was absolutely Delicious. From the warm Italian bread to the stuffed bell pepper appetizer, followed by our individual pasta dinners, and then coffee and chocolate lava cake...the food was absolutely awesome. The service, knowledge and hospitality of our server, Dominic, could not have been better...a great customer service experience top to bottom! Tonight was our first ever dining experience at this classy and relaxing location, but I'm more than certain it won't be our last. More...

The best salad I've ever ordered. Posh, cold, quiet, with a cordial staff. Turn up the heat
Good chicken francase

Nice place. Only had drinks.. Prices are mid range.
I order the Arrosito Rosso Pepe Gnocchi and it was the best gnocchi I've had in a very long time. I order it through Uber eats and was pleasantly surprised that it traveled well and was the perfect temperature. I live in Naperville so it had a longer distance to travel. More...
Staff is top notch! Food is awesome and service is outstanding, what else could you want
Very good food and service. Perfect date nite place. Would be good for a group too.
Comfortable and friendly atmosphere. Good selection of cocktails, beer & wine. Delicious food. Would definitely be a "go to" place if I was a local.
We've been here several times and always enjoy it. We request Dominic for our server as he is the best. Friendly and works his tail off. Drinks are good and fairly priced. We've probably sampled half the menu and we've never been disappointed. There are hundreds of Italian restaurants in the burbs, Capri in DG is worth checking out. More...
Adrian the bartender gave excellent service and recommendations for a meal!
Delicious Italian food. Place was empty for lunch.
The food magnificent. Atmosphere great. Wait staff very attentive.Wife, Son and I went to Capri the night of the tree lighting in Downers. As I mentioned above the food was magnificent. We will definitely be back for more of the food and atmosphere. More...
The team at Capri went above and beyond to make our night special. Awesome!
The Wife, Son and I were at Capri in Downers Grove tonight for an early dinner and to watch the tree lighting. The atmosphere was inviting and relaxing. After the lighting we ordered an appetizer the fried calamari with the marinara sauce. The calamari was cooked to perfection, with the marinara it really was perfect. As is the custom in most Iralian restaurants they served warm Italian bread. Now I'm not a big bread eater but that bread was phenomenal. My wife ordered the Pollo Marsala that the Wife fell in love with, she mentioned she got a slight sweetness that was fantastic. My Son had the spaghetti with a sausage link, that he really enjoyed. I had the Rigatoni ala vodka, believe me when I tell you, THAT WAS MAGNIFICENT, the creamed sauce had a touch of sweetness. The only issue I had was with the size of the restaurant. I could see why Capri was packed tonight, I was at a table near the servers station. I had my cane on the back of my chair and everytime a server came past our table my cane was knocked off the chair down to the ground. They have tables set for parties of four, five, and larger parties. With the quality of the food and the amount of patrons Capri needs a larger spot. I can guarantee the if they move many will follow. In my humble opinion Capri is 5 stars. More...
Fantastic Italian cuisine!
This restaurant is awesome shrimp linguine. Was the bomb. Great service. The lunch size was bountiful. Had leftovers. Shared them with my daughter.
Love this restaurant!! It’s not your typical Italian restaurant, it’s decorated so beautiful, it’s cozy and gives you that great feeling that you love about a home cooked Italian meal. They don’t rush you in and out but let you enjoy your meal like you should. The food is outstanding. I’ve tried many different items and have never been disappointed. The staff treats you like family and you can see they care about your experience. I had recently had my baby shower here which was absolutely perfect! The guests are still raving about the great tasking food and the quantity of food they were served! The manager was so easy to work with and there the whole time to make sure we had everything we needed! I highly recommend stopping in! You’ll love it! More...
Had an amazing baby shower here. Everyone raved about the food and the exceptional service! The restaurant looked beautiful!
We catered Capri for a baby shower and once again everyone raved about it. I love serving my guests this amazing food. The delivery service was on time and set up quickly. Capri always satisfies us! Love this restaurant! More...

Good food and service. It's nice that it is open for lunch.
I had the Linguini with White Clam Sauce. It was not a flavorful as my last visit.
Fabulous food and delightful service!
Outstanding cuisine, service and atmosphere. Very authentic Italian with lots of menu choices.
First time visiting and it was terrific! Dominick was extremely attentive - ask for one of his tables. And they catered to our off-the-menu requests. Absolutely delicious. We'll be back and highly recommend Capri. More...

Food was outstanding.
Service was excellent. I was welcomed at the door like an old friend. It was a relaxed atmosphere. I did not feel rushed to place my order. The food was as good as what i grew up eating. It was hot fresh and a large portion. There was quartet singing some great songs that went perfect with the mood of the evening More...
Great food great view!
Excellent food, great service. By far one of the best restaurants in the area
Not to be confused with Capri in Burr Ridge, Capri of Downers Grove is a great place for Italian food. Don't forget the martinis!
Great atmosphere, excellent service, highly recommend for a dinner date, couples night out, or bring the kids. Food is top notch, but entrees are reasonable priced. Try the brussel sprouts, rogatoni vodka, and carrot Bundt cake. More...
Really enjoyed the daily fish special which was Artic Char. I've been here many times and Capri never disappoints .
Great food! Staff is cheery and helpful. Very kind. I think it has become a favorite local restaurant for us.
We've had great food here. Service is still good but I think it was a little better a few years ago.
Great food, great service and all around great experience. A must try!
Sorry. I was reviewing to the wrong location

I planned a successful surprise birthday party with help from Brian, the manager. The food was good with large portion sizes and we were able to bring in a cake. We used a semi private room that's perfect for a small dinner of 12-15. The decor is upscale and classy with service to match. Ask for Domenic. He was a great server who was attentive and funny. A fine place to meet with friends and family for great Italian food. The menu has a wide selection, even a picky eater will have a great meal. They will substitute or remove items form an entree when possible. Great wine and relaxing ambiance. More...

Es un bonito y excelente lugar buena comida y se pasa un buen rato agradable
My husband and I gave our son a farewell gathering at the Capri of Downers Grove and everything from the customer service to the food was AWESOME. The owner Brian was hands on the entire time and a pleasure to work with. All of our friends were impressed. This place is absolutely gorgeous inside. If you are looking to have a gathering, I highly recommend this gem of a resturant, you will not be disappointed! Tell Brian Tina's review sent ya! More...
My highest compliments and sincere gratitude to owner Brian G. and his outstanding team at Capri of Downers Grove! You and your staff truly raised the bar beyond my expectations for our daughter's Baby Shower Luncheon on 4/7/18. Event planning with you, Brian, has redefined my definition of "successful event planning" with a restaurant venue! You carefully listened to our needs, wants, price point and embraced our vision for our special family celebration. It doesn't get any better than that for a family with lots of ideas on a limited budget! And still you offered us even more creative ideas and accommodations at no cost. Thank you, Brian. Your personal attentiveness, Brian, to the details of my daughter's Baby Shower Luncheon was remarkable! Capri's team's of professional, personable and extremely accommodating demeanor to guests was outstanding! And thank you, Chef, for the the extra special, delicious and beautifully plated luncheon. Wonderful experience and beautiful memories - thank you! More...
Excellent service from the manager and the waitress. Ordered the pollo francese which was amazing with the perfect touch of lemon butter sauce! The manager/owner even got me a rigatoni ala vodka on the house which was exceptional as well! Coming back here again :) More...
When my partner (what gluten-free options do you have?) says she had the best pasta ever at this restaurant (the primavera), that insures a plus recommendation. So bravo on that! And there's more. I've eaten here a number of times--my Italian preference is nearly always pasta.I've had the 8 Finger Cavatelli (twice) and the Ravioli. Both were good--but I'd go with the Ravioli over the Cavatelli--the Cavatelli is well prepared and conceived, but the Italian sausage is sweet, not spicy--just not my preference it turns out, others will love it. The Ravioli was the famous pillow of cheese with great texture to the pasta itself.Host and hostess are charming. Servers and water service greatly attentive.Desserts? The gelato has three generous scoops and is easily shared. Went with the carrot bundt cake on one occasion--not up to the rest of the experience, but a forgivable slight imperfection. There were a bunch of smiles around the table for other desserts. More...
Best homemade Italian food around! Amazing food for an acceptable price! Service is great and staff is presentable and friendly! The decor is beautiful and always clean from the doorway to the bathrooms. They are also very accommodating to special diet orders ; gluten free options, vegan, etc. every dish is made to order and they will even adjust how it is prepared to your choice! Awesome wine selection as well! Soups and salads are included with your meal which is a plus! Don't know why people complain of cost, it IS fine dining and you get a lot for your money! More...
Chicken parmigiana was on point with a decent size serving. Waitress was very nice. Complimentary bread is served thats unlimmited and you have a choice of salad or soup with each dish.
We had a 16 person engagement dinner in a semi private room at Capris. It could not have gone any better. We pre ordered appetizers and everyone ordered off the menu. Open bar. Brian Green arranged the event and Dominic made everything run smoothly. Food and service was outstanding. We brought in a cake and they cut and served it. Really recommend this excellent Italian restaurant for similar occasions. More...
We catered from Capri for 50 people and everyone LOVED it. The food was so fresh and warm upon serving. The pasta had enough sauce on it, it was as if you were eating it at the restaurant. Working with the owner Brian to coordinate was extremely pleasant and easy. We will be catering from Capri DG for future parties indefinitely. Highly recommend!! Thank you! More...
The food was delicious! I would highly recommend the clams as an appetizer. We also enjoyed the lobster ravioli and rigatoni vodka. The tables are a little too close together, but it's in the middle of downtown Downers Grove, so I think that's to be expected. More...
I was reluctant to try another Italian restaurant seeing as there are so many, everywhere you go. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Even though it seemed there was quite a long line of customers to be seated ahead of us, without a reservation we were taken to a table in less than five minutes. Our waitress was happy, and attentive. She highly recommended the stuffed pork chop, which was AMAZING! The tomato cream sauce was delicious. The owner came and inquired how our meal was he was very nice and accommodating! What a great quaint restaurant! We will be back! More...
I've walked past this place hundreds of times and finally ate here on a date night. It's really nice to sit out on the patio when the weather is right watching everyone in downtown DG. A great spot. The food is very traditional Italian fare. Quite good, nothing too creative but still excellent. I had the special perch which was on couscous with a cupl pieces of zucchini....I would have liked a little more fresh veg to add some color, but it was cooked to perfection. My date had the veal which was appropriately melt In ur mouth fresh. They had Dona Paula Malbec which is quite good. The server was very sweet and tho there were a cupl steps missing (water, bread plates, etc) we had a very nice experience and will definitely go back again. More...
We love the location of this place, right across from the train station. We love to sit outside with the kids and they love watching the trains go by. The bread is fabulous and the food is pretty good. The only complaint is that they don't offer a kids menu so we would often order one pasta dish for the kids and have them split it and they had the audacity to charge me a splitting fee. I have learned my lesson and do not ask them to split it for us anymore! More...
This was our first time here but it won't be our last. We met two other couples for dinner there. We started out with baked clams, grilled calamari and the broaciola. One was better than the other. For dinner our waiter Dominic could not be more accommodating. He answered all our questions and made some great suggestions. We decided on everyone ordering something different so we could all share. Next we had the Rigatoni Arrabiata and the Cavatelli. Both excellent! Next we had the Chicken Oreganato, Veal Limone and the Filet Marsala. Everything came out super hot and cooked how we requested. We never had to ask for a drink or look for our waiter. Dominic was always there when we needed him. Even though we were really full we just had to order the Bananas Foster and some Cannolis. Everything was great and we will definitely be back. More...
Love this independently owned Capri!!When entering you get a warm welcome from the hostess and always get a hug from our favorite server Dominick... my husband and I bring all of our out of town guests!!!We love having a drink or 2 at the bar first with the newer addition to the group...Adrien.... ps Fresh garlic for the bread is a nice touch More...

Good food great service
I really like this place... great food and great people
The calimari friti is one of the best I've ever had.
Great food sometimes hard to find a parking spot though
I've been coming here for a couple years now. And there is a reason. The food is awesome every time I come, on the weekends the place can definitely fill up but that's usually no problem for me just a little wait which is to be expected. This time around though I was seated immediately on the outside patio with downtown downers all in view, a beautiful site.Staff is always nice even for someone who generally just gets a table for 1 not exactly a big priority in other restaurants but I'm always treated well when I'm here. I recommend Capri Downers Grove to anyone looming for an amazing dinner in the downers grove area. More...
Yummy food, but even with reservations, we had to wait 1 hour past our reservation time for a party of 4. They have a live band on the weekends which is pretty loud for the small space, making it difficult to have a conversation across the tables.
Food is great. They now have a happy hour menu with reduced drink prices and select menu items. Love the live entertainment, I wish they had it more often.
Last night we celebrated our 5 year anniversary. We come here every year because the food is so wonderful and the service is exceptional! When we arrived, our table had rose petals spread around it, as it did in years past. Our waiter was Domenic and he was so accommodating and attentive. He made sure we were taken care of and that nothing was rushed. My lemon drop martini was the best I've ever had because it almost knocked me on my a$$. We started off with the bruschetta which is always top notch. Then we both had a cup of minestrone soup. For our entrees, I had the Risotto dish and my boyfriend had the Rigatoni with Vodka sauce. After letting that settle for a while, Domenic brought out a smaller square of Tiramisu with 2 mini cannolis on the side. The variety of the dessert was very nice. He even put a candle on it for us. We love coming here for our anniversary because they do not disappoint in any way! Keep up the great work everyone and we'll see you on 12-Feb-2018! P.S. Domenic, you were the best! Thank you so much for your great service and also the other gentleman who assisted you! More...
A wonderful dinner from start to finish. We were greeted warmly on arrival and had great service throughout. The dining room is modern, upscale and quite nice. The free bread is a great way to start - be sure to dip in the fresh olive oil and parmesean cheese. For my entree, I had the rigatoni vodka and it was very tasty and a huge portion - I had about a 1/4 of it leftover. I tasted some of the mushroom ravioli as well and it was delicious - all of the pasta is clearly made fresh. For dessert we had the cannoli - delicious. It is worth noting the value is solid here too - prices are great considering the large portions. Overall, highly recommended. More...
Went there last night with two other couples. Everyone loved their dinner and the service was awesome. I had a pear martini...OMG. Everything was hot, timely and the staff is extremely responsive. More...
We reserved a table for 8 on Saturday night for a family celebration. The service was excellent. We were frequently checked on but not bothered. Free bread was in abundance! All meals came with a free salad which is a nice touch. Appetizers were delicious and food came out in very large portions. The only complaint is that the squid ink pasta could use less calamari and maybe some crab to cut the heat. More...
Finally made it to Capri in Downers and was not disappointed. Every village seems to have a family owned Italian restaurant. What I liked about this one was the fresh pasta. It makes such a difference. I had a special, Fettuccine with chicken, artichoke, cherry tomatoes in a garlic wine sauce. Excellent! Plus every entree comes with soup or salad, and plenty of bread. Tried the Bananas Foster for dessert--made right at the table. Wine list has a decent selection. Service was very good. Would definitely come back. Why did it take me so long? More...
I'm surprised by all the negative reviews but I dined on a Tuesday so perhaps it was hard to have poor service with only a few tables. I had the pomegranate martini, lobster ravioli, calamari, with a bottle of red with dinner. Everything was excellent. I shared tiramisu with my friend, hands down best I've ever had - and I looove tiramisu. They corked our unfinished bottle to take home too. Our waiter was pretty sassy so I could see how it could come off as bad service on a busy night but for us everything was great. I'll be back! More...
Wonderful atmosphere. All staff very pleasant. From greeter to busser to server. Food was extra large portions and very tasty. It was very crowded with no waiting on a Friday night. A live singer from the second generation of the original Drifters was entertaining. More...
This restaurant is a gem! Brought my girlfriend here for a nice dinner and everything was delicious; food, drinks and dessert. The waiter was also very attentive, made multiple stops throughout the evening to make sure that we were not missing anything. My wife and I adore this restaurant. It's an absolutely perfect location to grab an outside seat on a summer Friday and watch all the hot rods roll by. We always got seated reasonably quickly, even in super busy nights. They have very professional and friendly wait staff. I'm a sucker for lasagna and even though it's pretty basic, they've delivered a consistent and delicious dish every time we've been. The lemon garlic brussel sprouts were the best appetizer we've ever had! The whole plate was gone in minutes. Highly recommend this place! More...
We stopped for a drink following the Bears game, spacious outdoor patio, delicious specialty drink menu. The Artichoke Toscana is worth the wait!!!! My wife is going to make this a regular stop with her girlfriends. We can't wait to come back. More...
This is one of our favorite restaurants! Brian, the owner, is an amazing host and the food is awesome! Great food and service every time !
My hubby and I have eaten here 3-4 times as a "date night" and have always had a good experience. Service is good--not too fast, not too slow--and the food is always good. During our visit last week the only disappointment was that the grilled octopus had been replaced on the menu with grilled calamari. It wasn't as good as the octopus. Caesar salads were very good. Entrees were delicious. My husband's gnocchi looked like little pillows and the texture was incredible. Very creamy, not chewy. The red pepper sauce was sweet and delicious. No complaints about my chicken either. I can't believe all the negative reviews I'm reading. We haven't seen that at all. Maybe it's because we usually go on a weeknight? More...
Great food and great service. Took my mom here for mothers day and for her birthday. The ambience is nice!
Good service - not a lot of server interruptions - which is great when you're reconnecting with old friends.
Yummy. A little expensive.
1st timers. Wonderful from the start! We were greeted warmly and arrived early so we sat at the beautiful bar for about 15 minutes. Our server, Lindy came over and welcomed us and gave us time to look over the menu. We were given fresh, hot bread and it was DELICIOUS!! We ordered bruchetta for an app and it was probably the best I ever tasted!!!! The Caesar salads fresh and crisp! I ordered lingini and clams and my daughter ordered pasta puffs. Perfectly cooked! Tiramusi cake was brought for my birthday daughter and Lindy sang! Sweet! We also ordered bananas foster. The dessert was fantastic as well as the presentation!!! We were completely impressed with the service as well! Empty dishes taken away promptly, water glasses filled, asking us if we need anything.... really, really exceptional service! Truly amazing atmosphere, service, and food!!! Cant wait to return!!! More...
After numerous visits in the last five years, Capri retains its spot as my family's favorite Italian restaurant. A fantastic staff that includes Angel and Dominick. It's elegant, robust, subtle and colorful all at once. Wonderful fresh pasta, sauces with a nice complexity of flavors...the list goes on and on. Also a great selection of wines. You can't go wrong at Capri. They do everything very right! More...
Very friendly staff, could eat this food all day long! Many food and drink choices to choose from. And the patio is a perk especially with the nice weather!
The best Italian food in town. Such great atmosphere. Awesome and friendly staff. Real professionals. They know what you want before you know you want it. I love the inside and outside dining, and I also love to bring my calm and nice dog to sit outside with me. He loves the meatballs and I do to :0) More...
My fiancé and I stopped in to check this location out. Perfect setting for a first date or special occasion. Very romantic and tasteful decor. No dress code yet casual and formal wear seems to be most fitting. We arrived late evening for cocktails. We split an appetizer followed by dessert. He ordered an extra dirty martini (Ketel One) with blue cheese stuffed olives. I had a mixed beverage, specialty. Moscato with a splash of Sprite and strawberries. Both were sensational. Roughly $10 a drink. We ordered the bruschetta which was the cheapest of appetizers at around $8.00 and was fantastic. Very light oil. Fresh tomatoes with fresh basil and garlic. Not mushy and the toasted baguette was simply that. Toasted. Also not saturated to the point of mush. Delightful. And for dessert...oh yes! He ordered the lava cake with vanilla bean gelato, to die for! I had the Italian cheesecake made with fresh ricotta. It was the creamiest cheesecake I had ever had. Sorry Nonna!!!! We finished the night with the perfect cappuccinos with just the right amount of froth and a sprinkle of cinnamon. More...

My experience at this restaurant was great! I highly recommend the vodka rigatoni. It was some of the best vodka sauce I have ever had! Great food good service, first time here and was here for my dad's birthday. Would definitely recommend for great Italian food and wine!!
This place has a lot of variance in reviews, but overall I'd say I had a great meal here with my boyfriend's family. The free bruschetta with a yelp check-in was tasty, but very small & I also had a wonderful filled mushroom pasta set in a broth that I could drink a gallon of! Overall, the service from our female server was rushed and awkward. I could see why some people would have been irritated or put off, but clearly there are more experienced servers on the team as well, which would make for a better experience. The place was packed when we went. Be sure to make a reservation! More...
We had the most wonderful time at Capri. Walked right there from the train station and were seated immediately. The wait staff was extremely pleasant and water was never half full. We had the calamari Capri which was in a wonderful lemon oil that was delicious. My fiancé didn't even need marinara! The chicken parmigiana with homemade rigatoni was some of the best I've ever had. The fettuccine Alfredo with broccoli and added chicken was also delicious. And if you're looking for warm, soft, crusty bread - this is the place - amazing! We will definitely frequent Capri more often! More...
Came here a little later on a Saturday and there was no hostess at the stand but she came pretty quickly. There was a 20 minute wait so we decided to have a drink at the bar and eventually decided to just eat there. The food was good and the bartender was excellent. I would maybe just recommend calling for reservations on a Saturday night even if you plan on going after the dinner rush. More...
Everytime I have ordered from here it's amazing their bruschetta and stuffed artichoke are delicious even though I wish they had it more
Capri is a beautiful restaurant - although it's worth noting that at peak times, due to the dining configuration it can be somewhat loud. That said, I always enjoy going here and I find the menu to be absolutely delightful. In terms of food preparation, it reminds me a little more of what I find when I've been in Italy in the past, compared to some of the more Americanized options in the area. The vitello limone is probably my favorite offering on this menu - I like lemon (citrus in general) but if someone isn't a fan, then definitely skip on this item. The mussels and linguini is fantastic, but if someone is looking for a straight pasta dish, I would always recommend the porcini mushroom sacchetti. It is a pricier option for the downtown restaurants, but the atmosphere is beautiful, the service is delightful, and I really enjoy the food. I find it well worth the pricetag. More...
The restaurant has a very classy ambiance. The food was incredible, I had the black linguine with a variety of shellfish mixed in, was a little pricey for pasta but well worth it, absolutely fantastic! Will go back!
This restaurant is definitely a neighborhood gem. Had a dinner for a group of 20 in the semi private VIP Room. We did family style apps; Calamari Capri and an dish with roasted peppers and sausage. The Calamari Capri has a special sauce which really makes this special. The apps were served "family style" and our waiter made sure everyone had plenty, refilling platters as needed. Everyone raved about their entrees. Service was excellent and the food delicious. Highly recommend for small groups. It goes without saying this is a great place for regular dining too! Try the grilled seafood app. It is a meal in itself! More...
Love Capri. Katy and Dominick are always super nice. BREAD FANTASTIC. Food GREAT.
Last night we attended the restaurant with clients and everything was perfect but one thing which stops me from providing them a five. We had a group of 8 and sat at a rectangular table which made it impossible for everyone to communicate and hear each other. Based on the noise of the entire restaurant they need to invest in some round tables for groups over 6. More...
We went for the 1st time, during the Downers Grove fest. They were not inclined to let us sit outside due to rain. We weren't going to even stay to eat but luckily the server came up to greet us, and told us he'd serve us outside but wanted us to be aware if it did start raining there may not be a table available. The food was excellent but more impressive was the level of service. Our server Dan (I think) was very passionate about the food preparation, and quick to meet our needs. I had baked clams, vodka pasta with sausage and tiramisu. All of the items were some of the best I've had . More...
The food here is superb. I got the chicken forget about it. It was so delicious and the portion was HUGE! So good, I ate the leftovers, cold, the next day. The service was terrific too.
I have found the Capri to be either the best restaurant in the Western 'burbs or just mediocre. The last time, it was great! There was attentive and the flavorings to be exceptional. I truly enjoy their Chicken Vesuvio and of course the desserts.. More...
I'm not sure why Capri has such a low rating overall. Service was great, and food was fresh and wonderful.I love the big, tall windows and large rounded corner of the restaurant. It brings in so much light, and dining there makes you feel like a royal. I came with a party of 8 and the server was very accommodating. He was checking up on us frequently, and was very polite and professional. For an appetizer, I would highly recommend the portebello mushroom. It came out hot and fresh with a wonderful vodka sauce, spimach, and shrimp! Flavor combination just screamed Italian. We also got the bruschetta which had some good fresh tomatos, but would have been better with some balsamic vinegar. I can recommend the Caeser salad and the vodka pasta. The itallian sausage and meatballs were good as well! The only thing that looked kind of meh that the whole party got was scallops & marinara dish. It just looked like there wasn't enough sauce, and the scallops were medium-sized and not big and fat.One last thing that gives Capri a big plus is the wine menu. Plenty of selection (as big as the food menu), and lots of greater Italian makers.I would definetly recommend going to Capri; afterwards, explore downtown Downers Grove! More...
Love there pasta and the atmosphere is very pleasent. Been here few times . I recommend it.
Awesome!!!! Such a cool place!
We chose this restaurant by default as the original choice down the street was hosting a private party. Capri is a great restaurant. Beautifully decorated and the food was excellent. Service was great. Kinda pricey but it was worth it. We will come here again for sure. Great experience. More...
We had a party at Capri recently and it was wonderful. Brian sat down with us and planned the menu, he had great suggestions and was very nice. My guests arrived and were greeted and directed to our table, offered a glass of wine. We then had appetizers and salad and a choice of entrees. The service was so wonderful and the food was fabulous, People are still talking about how great a time they had a Capri. More...
A wonderfully intimate, warm, DELICIOUS eatery that puts the customer first in all area's of upscale, dining. Never a disappointment! Atmosphere is always cozy, the waitstaff professional and prompt, and did I mention every item is made to perfection! Enjoy! More...
Our waiter was Dominico. Seafood combo plate was my dinner choice. Really good. If you have an Italian, Greek, or in general Mediterranean background, you will enjoy this place. Service was fast. I m sure it will be a lil hectic and slower when the place is booming. Though again, service was fast, friendly and food delicious. You do nt want to drive...no worries grab the Aurora metra train or an UBER. Enjoy. More...
Love love love this place except for one thing. For some reason the waitresses are bland and non personable. Not all but every time we go and have a waiter the experience is 100% better. We ate there again and we always tip well (30% ish) and while we were standing at the door putting our coats on our waitress walked by us, looked right at us and not a word. This was the way it was throughout dinner. We ordered dessert, there were 4 of us, and our waitress ran off after hearing it but neglected to ask if that was it, it wasn't and we had to order the other after the first arrived. I know it's not a huge deal but this isn't fast food and the bill was well over 150$ so we gave a fairly good tip, almost $50. This will not affect our going back as we will but maybe just a tip to make sure the staff is smiling and personable. Oh, and I wouldn't change a thing about the food. 5 stars for food. More...
Excellent food & service!!! Big selection of Italian specialties. Vodka sauce is amazing. Very attentive to the small details that sets this restaurant a part from others.
We went here this past weekend for our anniversary. We had Danny as our server and he was outstanding! We had Calamari capri which was delicious and came out in under 5 minutes. We had salads, chicken parmigiana, chicken florentine, Tiramisu, and a bottle of Saved wine. Everything was fantastic and we will be back! More...
What a pleasant surprise! We go to downtown Downers with a car almost every Friday night during the summer and just walked right past this place because it appeared too high brow for a gearhead and his wife. Well to make a long story short, last night was our 44th wedding anniversary so I wanted to treat my wife to a special dinner. I picked this place after talking to Dominic on the phone. He said we would be welcomed in even with my shorts, gym shoes and a Grumpy T-shirt on.We went and they catered to my wife's demands for a ribeye steak medium well done and my food with no garlic. This is the first time my wife’s was not asked to slice the steak to see if it met her requirements and my food did not have a hint of garlic and for an Italian restaurant, that was a miracle in my mind and the wife’s steak was perfect !They treated us like royalty and put rose petals on the table and gave us tiramisu on the house for our anniversary. By the way, their coffee tasted like the good stuff I would get on my many trips to Germany in the past.I called my son this morning to tell him of this find in Downers so he too could treat his wife to an excellent meal and low and behold he said: “Dad, that’s the place I told you about years ago that was located in a small strip mall in Naperville near the Ogden Ave. and New York Ave. turn. They are great and never knew where they disappeared to. Thanks for finding them for us….”So if you like excellent food, great personal service at moderate prices, I suggest you try them out like we did. Thanks, Capri and Dominic, for a very nice anniversary dinner for the two of us.See you soon,Grumpy More...
Very friendly and knowledgable service, wonderful ambience and love the food. We eat here frequently, especially during the summer when we're able to sit outside and always have a great experience.
My wife and I stopped in for the first time. Friendly service and great wine. Brian was helpful and went out of his way to make sure our experience was perfect.
Popped into tonight for a drink while waiting for our train. Brian was our bartender and was FANTASTIC! The host was very friendly, the ambiance was great. My husband, who only knows DG from having to visit his in-laws, said this place will make him look forward to future DG visits. Can't wait to come back! More...
Jessica - bruschetta - meatballs - veal parm - side pasta - roasted garlic - napizzano - bread - table cheese - check in special - Sunday gravy - Caesar - chicken rice soup - seated promptly - OpenTableWe were seated promptly by a very nice hostess, and told that our waitress would be right with us.Our waitress Jessica was very helpful on this, our first visit. I've served in "fine dining Italian" myself, so I was very familiar with the ins and outs of the menu items - but I wanted recommendations from somebody who knew the food here very well. She did a GREAT job.Recommendations were the bruschetta (fresh, simple, VERY good) and meatballs appetizers. We may not get both again - that's a lot of food - but either was a great starting choice. We then decided to go all-in and tried the Caesar salad, chicken rice soup, and had the roasted garlic with our bread and oil. All impressed us. The soup seemed homemade. At this point, I also opted for a lovely Napizzano wine.I got the veal parmesan - the best I've ever had - and a side of pasta, which has a nice chew and a very nice sauce. The table cheese had a wonderful sharpness, likely some romano in there. My wife tried the Sunday gravy, and absolutely loved it. I tried a couple bites, and it was pretty great - the flavor really had that slow-cooked richness. One of the better Italian meals we've had! More...
Excellent food and excellent service. Very clean and has a great atmosphere. Best Italian around!
A great little restaurant in downtown Downers Grove. The food is excellent and the portions are generous. The same staff has been there for years, and are always pleasant and helpful.
This is the best place for Italian in Downers Grove. I've been here numerous times and never has a dish I didn't like. The only negative comment I have was the Veal Marsala is a touch too sweet. The pasta and risotto dishes are enormous. The steak is great. The location for Downers Grove could not be better. The service has been good. If you are unsure about which place to eat Italian in Downers Grove (or Westmont and Woodridge) think no more I recommend this place. More...
I really wasn't expecting to like Capri as much as I did, but in the crowded italian restaurant market of Downers Grove downtown, it stands out as consistently one of the best (but also, the most expensive). Good wine selections, consistent dishes and surprisingly accomodating to families if you get there on the early side. More...
Visited Capri many times, and never had a bad meal. The servers are usually excellent, and the vibe is very nice. The menu offers a decent variety, and the appetizers and salads are fresh and prepared well. Presentation is excellent. The only drawback is the tables are fairly close, but the room is fairly compact so there isn't much choice. The music on Thursday night is a nice "dinner club" touch, and that is when I usually visit. You shouldn't be disappointed! More...
They had a sign that said help us yelp us. So I'm finally going to do it.I love Capri. I love it so much, I forget how great it is every time, and I always forget to yelp it.The grilled calamari is my fave. The roasted garlic and wonderful libationsare always putting me in the mood for a little live music around town.Cheers! it's on my top ten. More...
Wickedly yummie margarita and husband had a Peroni beer. Picture is of Becky the Bartender that greeted us as soon as we walked in and constantly checked up on us without being too intrusive. We primarily came for Delaney's performance yet had a great dessert of Turtle Cheesecake and Pistachio Vanilla Bean Ice Cream! Great crowd for a Friday night - busy but not chaotic. Thanks for a great time Capri! More...
I lived off of Taylor St. in Chicago for years and the food here is as good as I've had. Tuscan minestrone soup, homemade pasta, perfectly cooked chicken..all great. Very attentive service as well Would give 5 stars, but I think it's a bit over-priced. Would go more often if it were more affordable. More...
Finally! Old world Italian cuisine at its best. Had the pomperdelle with chunks of braicole which was excellent. Great wine selection and the atmosphere is very appealing. Our waitress a little unpolished but the rest of the staff was awesome. Beautiful location in downtown Downers Grove. More...
White table cloths and great food that is reasonably priced. Very nice menu! Our server Lindy was great! A few of us were confused on what to order and she guided us by asking some questions and put in an order for us and it turned out so great! This restaurant offers lots of unique and complex dishes that I have never had at an Italian place before. I got the 8 finger fungi dish and it was sooo good. The bruschetta is crazy good as well. They have a lot of special nights where they offer different menu items, entertainment, and specials. A must! More...
Great food, atmosphere, drinks and location!!!! Friday nights are great during the summer to watch all the cars drive by during the weekly car-shows and just to people watch. Thursdays are good also to listen to live music. Calamari Capri is a signature item that everyone needs to try. I have been back numerous time and will continue you for a long time to come. More...
I came here with my fiance and this was our first visit. It won't be our last! The ambiance is really nice - it's a smallish dining room but shaped in a semicircle with rich colors, linen tablecloths, and a very inviting bar. We were served an assortment of warmed breads along with roasted garlic and marinated olives. Grated parmesan cheese and EVOO was waiting on the table, and tasty with the bread. We ordered wine based on the suggestions of our waitress, who she was spot on with the recommendations. We then moved on to a braciole appetizer, which is a slow-cooked flank steak stuffed and steeped in a marinara sauce. It was outstanding! We followed it up with two of the nightly specials - sea bass and pork diavalo. Both were prepared with fresh ingredients, and the resulting flavors were wonderful. We were offered desert, but were too stuffed. They then offered complimentary fresh fruit, which was light and just the right finish for a wonderful evening of dining. As we left we met the owner Brian, who was warm and very friendly, and was genuinely interested in our dining experience and how to make it better. I've met lots of managers of restaurants, but it's not often you get to meet the owner. Brian has a lot to be proud of. We truly enjoyed the meal, and have it high on our "must repeat" list. More...
Since living here I have always wanted to check this place out, I have walked by it countless times and peaked in the windows. I thought with little kids it would be basically impossible. So finally we get a sitter and I suggested Capri! We had no reservations but it wasn't a big deal, we decided to sit at the bar and there we had a few drinks with the sweet bartender, she made me a fancy martini and she made me laugh. that's a plus since I like to drink and laugh. Then we sat down with our server, I forgot her name, but she took great care of us. She was not hovering and was very polite and helpful. I noticed that they were hosting some kind of painting event. I have to check that out sometime! must call sitter! The place is very elegant and striking- floor to ceiling windows. The location can't be beat- it's right on the corner and they have a nice patio to look at the fountain. The food here was even better then I hoped. Each entree receives free salad or soup-nice. I noticed my ceasar was served on a chilled plate- that's a very nice touch. I had to try the vodka sauce and it doesn't disappoint! My husband had the linguini and clams. SO DELICIOUS!!! I will be coming back here with my hubby again! who cares if I have to find a sitter?! This place shouldn't be the "special occasion" restaurant. It's really a nice neighborhood restaurant and it's an any occasion restaurant. just to get some more of that sauce and some yummy warm Italian bread- I can find time. I just wished they stayed open at the bar later into the evening. I would love to come here and drink.... I think I just ate at my new favorite restaurant. swooooon! More...
I recently went here and had the pork chop marsala. This came with some of the best mash potatoes i have ever had. (and I don't even care much for potatoes). This place is pricey but has some pretty good food. They also had seven daughters red blend on the menu which is a plus/ also went perfect with the entrée. Nice environment in DG. The tiramisu is good. More...
Liked this place a lot. Noisy, but good atmosphere. Good food, good drinks. Dessert was a little too cold and hard to eat- had to take it home to thaw it out. But I'd go back.
We arrive around 6pm without reservations and was seating at an extremely small high top table. ( I would like to mention that only about 25% of the restaurant was full with regular tables, but they said that those would be saved for reservations.) The food was good, not great. The lighting in this restaurant was fantastic and the win was served in a generous glass. Overall I would visit again! More...
This was my first visit to Capri. We had no reservations and it was a Friday night, so we were lucky to wait just 20 minutes for a table, as the place was busy. The crowd at the bar never let up and it seems like a place where lots of locals meet up. The fried calamari was very good, but the homemade Braciole was amazing. My girlfriend has the pasta special, which was also delicious and homemade. This is a "must stop" if you find yourself in Downers Grove. More...
My boyfriend and I visited Capri for the first time on 12/10/11 and we were pleased. We were seated promptly and had a very attentive server. Our dishes were very tasty, stuffed shells for him and Chicken Marsala for me. The marinara sauce on my pasta side was incredible! I loved the location of the restaurant in beautiful downtown Downers Grove and the ambiance is wonderful, perfect for a date or any special occasion. More...
Their homemade pasta is fantastic. It is priced like a casual dining restaurant, but has more of a fine dining feel. Can't say enough good things.
A group of us ate here the other evening and the food was very good! The veal was very good and the shrimp diablo was very good as well! We will definitely be going back very soon! More...
I have only been to this Capri location one time. I first tried Capri out in Yorkville, then we tried Oak Brook and finally Downers Grove. Since these restaurants are not carbon copies of each other, you get a different menu and experience from each one. The Downers Grove location is very hip and the service is great. As a vegetarian, a good pasta selection is a must at an Italian restaurant and Capri Ristorante does not disappoint. It is a great place to take a date. I hope that this location is able to stay open since I already lost the other two that I previously mentioned. Be prepared for a mid-priced menu, but with the full meal experience it is worth the extra couple of bucks. More...
Went to this restaurant with a party of 8. The service was excellent and so was the food. The restaurant itself is also very nice. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly. Entrees range from around $11 to $20, in most cases. The portion sizes also are fairly large. Enjoy! More...
I've been to several Italian restaurants in the suburbs, but none to this caliber! What a beautiful place with aMAzing food. Their home made pasta with vodka sauce is absolutely the best meal I've had in a long long time. It was delicious! This dish will keep me coming back again and again! More...
I took my wife to Capri for her birthday dinner. We had been several times and always liked the food. This time was equally as good. The food was wonderful and our waitress was great. What we loved the most was the atmosphere. The restaurant is a nice size; not too big and not too small. They have real linens on the tables and candles too. We thought it was classic and sophisticated. We will definitely continue returning to Capri. More...
I chose to take clients to Capri for a business dinner. I’m so glad I chose to eat here rather than one of the Italian chain restaurants! It was an elegant setting without being fussy or overdone. Our waitress was attentive but also realized we had business to discuss. Our out of town clients were impressed and actually requested to be taken back to Capri. Thank you to Brian and the entire staff for making it a great night! More...
Brian does a Great Job. Love the Food and service is always excellent.
I absolutely LOVED Capri!! I was taken by some friends and family to celebrate a promotion and was blown away that I hadn't discovered this restaurant yet! We were seated promptly (we had a reservation) and were greeted by friendly staff, even those who weren't our waitress. The bread and oil on the table was always replenished and we didn't have to wait to place our drink order at all. Our waitress asked what we were celebrating and when everyone told her I had been promoted, she offered a free appetizer to celebrate. How sweet!! Our entrees were all wonderful, not one complaint or 'so-so' from anyone at the table. We were too full for dessert, but everything I saw coming out of the kitchen looked amazing.I will definitely be back for more!! More...
I recently moved to the States from London and I'm still getting to know the area. Some co-workers of mine took me to Capri for a drink after work that turned into appetizers, then a meal, then dessert! We just couldn't get enough! Wonderful service, beautiful dining room, and top notch food. I can't say enough about it. What a lovely experience, I'll be back for certain! More...
By far my favorite Italian restaurant! I'm very picky when it comes to Italian food (100% italian heritage may have something to do with that... used to home cooked meals that not many restaurants can compete with - in my opinion). But Capri is an exception! This place has it all - great ambiance, intimate setting, beyond delicious food from the apps to main entrees to dessert/cappucino. They make homemade pasta - which says a lot right there! It adds a whole new dimension to Italian dining that I simply cannot explain. :) The desserts are great too - my fave being the homemade tiramasu, although on our recent trip we deviated from the norm and tried the canoli with chips. YUMMM. My only dislike is the caesar salad. The dressing is not creamy ceasar, which is my preference. However that's a personal preference for me, so next time I'll opt for the soup or house salad. Try the Caprese salad!! Service is great. Host is always friendly. Call for a reservation, but you'll often wait a few minutes to be seated. It's worth it though! Grab a glass of wine while you wait. Love, love, love Capri!! Right when you walk in the door you're greeted by the friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. We had a great waiter who was helpful and friendly to all of us (four of us in the party). Once the food arrived, our already high opinion went off the charts. The food is amazing and truly authentic Italian. Homemade pasta, perfect sauce, just the right amount of spice and substance. We had a great time and will absolutely return for another meal. Thanks Capri!! More...

I took my girlfriend for dinner on Tuesday and had a great meal. We both really loved the bread that was served before dinner, and were big fans of the appetizer and our main dishes. Anywhere that still has homemade pasta is a great place in my book. We'll be back for sure. More...
My husband and I have been having dinner at Capri on Sunday evenings for quite awhile. Thanks to a work Christmas party, I found myself at Capri in Downers Grove, right across from the tracks on Main Street. I had passed this place numerous times, but the thought had never occurred to me to stop in and check this place out. Boy, was I missing out!I didn't look at a menu once because it was a preselected dinner, but everything we tried was absolutely delicious! The standout items were the homemade pastas. The Quattro Formaagi was insanely fresh and delicious, as well as the Rigatoni in a vodka cream sauce. More...
I was in town visiting family for the Easter holiday and we spent an evening at Capri. It was my first time and was a fantastic experience. It's an elegant atmosphere with linens and attentive service (something you don't find too often anymore). On top of all of that, the food was impeccable. We had salads, entrees, and dessert and absolutely nothing disappointed. I've already told my family this will be my 'go to' spot every time I come to town. Thank You Capri! More...
We drive from Aurora to eat at our favorite resturant. My husband and kids love this place. thanks to Brian and staff
Like the rating says; RUN DON'T WALK TO CAPRI IN DOWNERS GROVE!!!! Wow is all I can say. Being new to the area and it being our anniversary my wife and I decided to try Capri in Downers Grove and have to say the experience will lead us to be there at least once a week. We were greeted promptly and asked if we would hang our coats. A nice touch since my wife hates to have her coat draped over a chair. The manager said that our table would be ready in just a couple of minutes and we decided on a drink at the bar. As we were walking at least 3 different employees greeted us as we were family. At the bar I decided on wine (very good selection and moderately priced) and my wife a choose a lemon drop martini (sugar rimmed included) . By this time our table was ready. Once at the table the bus person brought hot bread and water and again greeted us as he knew us for years. Next came a very knowledgeable server who explained the menu which has many items and our server even recommended his choices. I choose the Homemade Rigatoni with Vodka Sauce and added ground sausage my wife choose the Sea bass. Salads were brought promptly and on COLD plates their Caesar dressing was great. The entrees came promptly and we were overwhelmed by the quantity and quality. From the first bite we were hooked on Capri. The homemade rigatoni was cooked perfectly and the sea bass (10 oz) was by far the best my wife has ever tasted. Our server suggested bananas foster (flamed at your table) but we have to save something for next time. We will be back and with our family and friends. More...
Great setting and great food with a location near the tracks. The biggest down fall isnt even their problem. Being that close to the tracks ruins the outdoor seating. Having a nice dinner out and a double frate train happens. Cant hear a word spoken for the next 15 to 20 minutes... Just sit inside. More...
Hands down this is the best restaurant in Downers Grove. We have eaten here several times and had a wonderful experience every time. The homemade pasta, Veal and Lasagna are great! The Chicken Vesuvio gets my vote. More...
Very good homemade pasta. As a vegetarian I really appreciate how well the servers know the menu, none of that "I have to go check with the kitchen" stuff. Very friendly staff. A family favorite! More...
I have been to this wonderful establishment several times. I have never been disappointed with the food. The food pricing is moderate but the quality says expensive. The only draw back to this restaurant is the wine list is overpriced and unremarkable but that is OK since the corkage fee is only $15.00, so go to a a good wine shop and pick out a great bottle to enjoy with the great food here. As for the atmosphere the restaurant is small but very inviting. It has one of the best locations in Downers Grove. Ask for table by the circular windows. More...
Great seafood mixed grill appetizer -a must try if it is offered. As with many italian restaurants the portions are very large - but not at the expense of quality.
This place has amazing food I have tried a lot of different dishes from there but my all time favorite is the homemade rigatoni in vodka sauce. The sauce is like nothing else out there it has the best flavor of any vodka sauce I have tried. The service is great especially from the bartenders who make the drinks nice and strong. The outdoor seating during the summer is nice especially to enjoy one of there delicious deserts! More...
Excellent food! The Chicken Visuvio is to die for!!! Service is impeccable and the atmosphere is very upscale yet unpretentious. Prices are high but Capri delivers on every aspect, so they are justified. More...
A friend got a coupon for a free appetizer when she jogged by one day. So when we were looking for something a bit different to try we figured we would check it out. There is a small patio section which is extremely nice with a little fountain across the road and a very pretty Downers Grove. when I first sat down I thought... this is really nice and relaxing... I wonder how many trains come through... I lost track after the 7th, two of which were long freight trains and seemed to go on for ever and made talking less then pleasant. That aside it was everything I would expect of a fine Italian restaurant. From what i saw of the inside it looked gorgeous! Lots of dark woods and fine settings. In addition the wait staff were polite and prompt and the food was better then expected for the price. (thou closer to the $30 per person then $11 on the scale)All in all I would give it two thumbs up. Despite the train noise it's a great location as you can stop in before jumping on the train, or possibly catch a nice dinner to unwind before driving home. Just sit inside. :-) More...
My best friend took me here for a quick dinner before I was supposed to catch the train. She said she had always walked past it and it looks busy with happy people all the time. We were in quite a hurry given the train timing, but all the staff members were warm and friendly. The atmosphere, lighting and overall ambiance were very nice. We only really got a chance to try their bruschetta, which is the by far the best-est bruschetta I've had! I hope to return and try their entrees, after which I may add that last star! It's also a little on the pricey side, so expect that when you go. More...
May I be the first to comment on the new Capri Ristorante. From start to finish a pleasure to visit.
