We love coming to Cake Walk for lunch after our yoga class.  The samosa chat and Marsala dosas are consistently good.   We also like the Chettimad mixed vegetable curry and other dosas.  The mango cake is great too, and you can order birthday cakes here. Service is always excellent and polite from staff who multi-task.  This is a fast casual restaurant where customers order at the counter and food is delivered by staff.  We are senior citizens who like to travel internationally, and eat in ethnic restaurants with great food which have customers from that ethnic group. Cake Walk exceeds our expectations. More...

Came in here for a quick afternoon snacks and for sure it didn't disappoint me. The size of the cafe is not too big, but their options for India snacks and desserts are great. From Samosa to Cake to Lassi, they are all amazing. I especially like the different cake options that they have. I got the Black Forest cake. The cake itself is very moist, along with the cream. This will be another to go place to get your sugar fix. More...

Meal (*****):  1.) Chicken Tikka RollThis lil' Indian burrito hit all my spots in all the right ways, all over my face, neck, and chest. Figuratively. Because the sauce went directly in my mouth.Innuendos aside, this "roll" was delivered in a foil wrap with a sort of wax paper lining.  I peeled it back like a Chipotle burrito to reveal a bright orange-red sauce emanating from the roll's "folds."  The heat of the peppers combined with the warmth of the spices were balanced perfectly in the first bite. I know that I love "spicy" food, so if you get squeamish at BW3's spicy garlic sauce, then look out. And more for me . I noticed they snuck some vegetables in there, which I think may have added to the flavor and texture in a subtle and positive way.As I sat in my car outside of this establishment, shame-eating this blessing from Vishnu, preserver of all things good and delicious, I noticed how much I did not care that people were staring at me as they walked to their vehicles.  Because once I got 3/4 deep into this roll, the spices and sauce intensified and set me on the path of chaos in this hero's journey.2.) Aloo Tikki ChaatI immediately opened the lid of the tray of the chaat once I crumpled the foil of the Tikka Roll. I'm lying. I greedily licked and sucked the juice out of the bottom of the foil pocket before I moved onto the chaat.I thought I crossed into the realm of spice-chaos until I took my first bite of this spicy  potato meal. I delved deeper into the unknown reaches of my palate, as Ant-Man in the quantum-verse, exploring new and undiscovered territory. My wife could not even handle one bite. I ate it like an animal. As with the hero's journey, true to form, I returned home, a changed man, as if Prometheus himself bestowed upon me the gift of fiery spice. Also, the smoothie and cake is diz-ope.Ambiance (N/A):I ate this happy food in my sadness car.Service (*****):We ordered on the phone on the road, and it was ready in 15 minutes. I did not know what to expect. DUDE! It's down the side walk from 5 GUYS!  Sorry Guys, but you've got a tough competitor with my money now. Just sayin'. And *Aladdin's... well... I'm glad you're a ubiquitous chain, but I've got Flavor Town and Bakery in my back yard. That's right, I just channeled Guy Fieri. I went there.*Note: I understand that Aladdin's is Lebanese / Mediterranean, but it is the closest thing to non-western flavor that I can compare. More...

Cake Walk is a chain of Indian bakery and dessert outlets. They specialize in Indian snacks, pastries, and bakery items, both sweet as well as savory. The overall look and feel of the place is somewhat like a local fast food joint, almost like a Wendy's or McD. But the menu items are almost as expensive as a full fledged gourmet dining restaurant. The taste and flavors are authentic and wholesome doing some justice to the prices albeit not enough to make up for the ambience.Today, I had ordered an onion chili tomato uttapam. Uttapam is a thick pancake made from a batter of fermented ground rice and pulses/lentils. It is served with a variety of "chutneys" (chutneys are sauces made from different ingredients like coconut kernel, peanuts, tomatoes, tamarind and ground pulses). The food is predominantly vegan and high in nutritional value compared to most modern fast foods that are non vegetarian in nature. The service is a bit slow at times. Just like any fast food joint, you have to go to the counter first and order your food/snacks, pay for it and obtain a token with your receipt. Then you can seat yourself at any of the available tables. Your food will be brought to you whenever it's ready.I love the taste and flavors of the food over here, even though the service quality leaves a bit more to be desired. If they could lower their food prices even by a fraction, this place could be among my topmost 'value for money' snacking hangouts. More...

The samosa chat is awesome but spicy. Like, SPICY- spicy. Just grab yourself a few extra styrofoam cups of water....The chicken tikka wrap is different but good. Cake Walk is cakes and Indian street food. It's not fussy like a lot of Indian restaurants. There's not an endless buffet or menu. It's simple. They provide a few samples of cookies or something. I had the samosas and the vada pav, which comes on small buns. It was about $8 for the whole meal. The meal was filling and a lot cheaper than most Indian restaurants. It was spicy but not too much. They also make and decorate cakes and cookies that look as good as anything you can get at the grocery store bakeries but they taste good as far as what I have tried. If you want cheap Indian food go to Cake Walk. It's better than many more expensive Indian restaurants. The staff is glad to help you choose if you've never been there. More...

Total hidden gem, seriously. If you are wanting tapas style real South Indian food that is full of flavor - not like the mild versions the buffets serve, you MUST try. They have quite an extensive menu for street style foods all at low prices. I live for spicy foods (sriracha is like ketchup to me), and this hit the spot. We tried the vada prav (carb lovers dream) which is bread with spiced potato fritters. Loads of spices. Menu doesn't indicate if it's spicy so double check if you're on the sensitive side. I would have taken a purse full of chicken puffs (spiced chicken in puff pastry) if my husband let me! Light, crispy and super flavorful. The two gentlemen at the counter were very nice and helpful, since we looked frazzled at the menu. Desserts on the other hand are also pretty special, they do eggless cakes and adorable designs. Definitely not as sweet or heavy as traditional American cakes. It's quite the drive, but we will definitely come back for the byrianis and dosas! More...
