I called to pay off a debt owed by my wife. I spoke to Sharissa and she handled the call very well and I made the payment. Super nice lady. I'm very happy.

I was treated more than fairly it's so hard to get to this point and William Schultz was outstanding. I appreciate being treated with dignity and respect I can't say enough about this experience.

The two people I spoke with were super nice. I called to pay off a debt I owed. Obed was the person who ended up helping me out. He was super friendly and patient and offered to mail me a paid in full letter. I think if you’re running from these guys and not trying to pay them then yeah you’re going to have problems. So far my experience was as good as it can get with a debt collector More...

I had a good experience with this collection agency, they let me set my payment up for a later date, wavied the convenice fee and also are deleting the account off my credit as if it never went to collections. Thank you for being so nice and helpful! More...

As an industry, it's easy to lump all the collectors in the same nasty little hated group. I happily go on record stating emphatically Cane & Weiner DO NOT fit that bill. I was in a year-long battle with a service provider who eventually used a debt collector (C&W) as, well, a threat and, after speaking with Wayne Robert and Rogger Virgill, I can honestly state this company should be the blueprint for the industry. Both gentlemen were patient, respectful and empathetic to my situation. Rogger Virgill went far above any expectations and truly helped a stranger in need. If you're ever in the unfortunate situation of being sent to a collector's office, you better hope it's with Cane & Weiner and you better hope Wayne answers and Rogger solves your problem. Rogger, thank you, sir, you're a true gentleman. More...

Gina Quintero helped me a lot when it came to arranging payments on my debt. She didn't pressure me as the other debt collectors, she never asked me to make a higher amount then what I had to give that day and she didn't call me every day 7 times a day to get me to pay it al off, she respected my time and the amount I had to give even if it was $20 she allowed me to make the payments. Thank you Gina Quintero I appreciate all your help. More...

I can't speak to others' experiences...but I contacted them about a past due account...mailed in the payment...and at every turn, the people I spoke with were friendly and pleasant and helpful. I had to call back to get them to mail out my "paid in full" letter, but it arrived within a week, and two weeks after they received my payment, the delinquency notice was gone from my credit reports (they had told me 30-60 days). As a former employee. This company is not a scam. As a person who owes debt - you probably belong in C&W because the initial company you purchased from or were contracted with says you do. If you think you don't. Dispute it. It's really simply. There are plenty of employees who have been with the company for numerous years as well as rotating employees so don't be surprised if you get a pattern of reps. If you don't like who keeps calling you, call the main number on your letters and ask to speak with someone other than who you've been talking to. Located in California the employees are American. C&W is just trying to keep the economy flowing. Don't be rude. Take a deep breathe and use your critical thinking skills. More...

Quit lying, and just pay it!I spoke with a gentlemen by the name of Joshua, he helped me with an old insurance bill I had. He was very professional and quick. I feel as if the other reviews on here are just upset people that are in denial of a debt they thought they escaped. It's not a scam, just pay it! More...

Found an account went to them for collection through my most recent credit report. Called them to find out what it was from; an old medical bill from 5 years ago. Original amount was under $100, but after a few years worth of interest, it was more. Tried to negotiate, but they weren't having it. Got them to verbally agree to remove it from my credit report if I paid it off, so I did. Received a written confirmation a few days after, and within a few weeks, it dropped off my credit report. It's kind of amazing to see how salty people are when they owe money and are called out on it. I owed money, got called paid it and it was done. They pick up when you call them. They send you letters to inform you owe and follow the common practices of a debt collection agency. You are able to dispute, if you truly don't owe. I guess todays America just expects to be hand held for that and become angry when they don't get their way. So no people they are not a scam. People just don't like collection agencies because it hurts their egos. More...

Well, here is the deal. I owed the money, it was only 221.28 but I owed it. It was an old insurance bill that I didn't know about. They offered to settle it for 170.00 and that was cool and all but again. I owed the money. So I paid it in full, and the ladies name was Janet. She was super professional and that is very rare for a lot of debt collectors. I think the problem is that people forget that they owe the debt in the first place, and also forget that when it reaches people like Caine and Weiner it is their job to attempt to collect it. Anyways, again the lady was nice, and professional and agreed to get it off my credit right away. So given the circumstances I think they were very reasonable to deal with, provided you take responsibility for the debt in the first place. More...

I have to say it's rare that I end up in collections, and it was a bit surreal to talk to Arrowhead water to ponder why I'd not heard from them in a while and they said I was more than 120 days past due (auto pay failed after yet another one of my credit cards was 'replace for my convenience' because something somewhere got $#! $!@#@# hacked). It was actually almost 6 months past due. So I asked why didn't you send me a letter. I'm on paperless billing they said so maybe that is why. Or perhaps they did send notices--Arrowhead didn't know--and cheerful collection agent Alexis (more on her in a bit) clarified that Arrowhead STILL had my address' city wrong in their system NOTWITHSTANDING them knowing the right city and my telling them about it YEARS ago.So anyways, Arrowhead says I can't talk to them I have to call this other 818 # and it turns out it was a collections group. In a rather creepy way they answer saying is this call about the [my last name] account? I said yes and they put me on hold and transfer me a couple times to a woman named Alexis. Well, I don't write many reviews to be honest, but Alexis was so cheerful, personable, helpful, and nice enough to take the time to help me figure out logging in to the web form to avoid the 'convenience fee' for charging the amount owed on the phone. I realize that collections agents get a bad rap because nobody is happy to get "the call" that, when done effectively, makes one feel the next stop is Debtors Prison. And I understand that many collection agencies and agents are a bit terrible about how they do their job or the extent of fact checking that is done before making their call. But I wanted to post this positive review because my experience was completely and unequivocally opposite from anything I might have expected and from what I have read from others on their experience.I called to figure out what happened, and how to figure it out an fix it. And I was really pleased with how thoroughly Alexis tried to help. So I suppose if you are having a bad experience with these folks, and without trying to give her more work to do, maybe call her and she can effectively and efficiently help you get to a better place. Debts suck -- and debts coming from some other person's theft/fraud/hacking/whatever that screws up your auto payments are extra really annoying. But running into someone at a collection agency that really seems to want to help you sort it all out? THAT'S PRICELESS! More...

We are a UK company that was owed quite a large sum from an American company. It looked like we were not going to get paid so we enlisted the services of Caine & Weiner as they were US based. They were very professional from the start and made everything very simple. Just got our payment today and were very pleased with the service. And very happy to get paid as well! More...

I bet everyone that has actually owed money to the place where they are in collections and had an okay experience with these folks still wouldn't leave a positive review because they are too embarrassed. Well, I'm just learning how to pay all the crazy business things we have to pay in L.A., and missed one of them. I confirmed with the city of L.A. that these folks were legit and that I owed the money + collection fees.  This company comes up all over RipOff report web pages & blogs, so of course I was concerned.I was also told by the city rep. that often times even if someone has paid a bill if it's super late it might not get to collections for another month, which makes sense why folks think they are a scam when they have already paid their bill. The fellow, Don, was very helpful & even sent me an example of the form & made sure I knew all the details to pay this year so it wouldn't get to this point.   It sucks that people have had crappy experiences, it wouldn't surprise me, but guess I lucked out (hopefully).
