We decided to hire Kris for our wedding reception last April after reading numerous positive reviews and comparing pricing options, and we were completely blown away by his delivery! Kris always had our needs in mind, from finding all of our “uncommon” song requests (many came from random covers on YouTube) for our cocktail hour to running the ceremony exactly as we wanted. He even was kind in helping one of our physically-challenged guests get up some stairs when he certainly did not have to. One of our biggest fears in hiring a DJ was getting a “bro,” but Kris was classy and exactly what we were hoping to get! His prices are also excellent – we got his services for the cocktail hour/reception and a step-up with a lighting package for less money than most of our other vendors charged for their services. We would readily and highly recommend By Design Entertainment for anyone who needs a DJ.Also, additional bonus points: for our consultation, we were late in meeting him since I (the groom) confused his meeting place with that of another vendor, and he did not hold it against us at all! Book Kris now! He was so thorough with the planning process and made sure everything between flow, name pronunciations, and mood was perfect. He made adjustments as things went longer than expected and had open communication all night with my husband and I on any song requests/when we felt was good to play certain songs. He was upbeat, easygoing and made our night an ease. The dance floor was jammed the entire night and he always knew what song to pick if there was even a bit of a lull (which I’m not even sure there was one)! We made a change at DJ at about 9 months out, and it was one of the best decisions in the planning of our wedding by switching to By Design Entertainment. Kris S. wowed us from the very start! Most of the DJs we interviewed were more interested in selling themselves to us, but Kris immediately wanted to know about us, our plans for the wedding, and took most of our initial phone call asking questions about how we wanted our wedding to go. It was really refreshing to talk with someone who cared and wanted to learn about us instead of pricing out his/her services and trying to validate why they should be paid that way. As for the planning portion, it was entirely seamless. He provided us with an app to help select music for various parts of the reception, as well as setting up the cocktail hour playlist. Pairing that with the timeline the venue gave us for all the aspects of our reception made everything flow perfectly! We were also able to pick songs for just about every aspect of the reception (we picked cake cutting music, shoe game music, etc.) and Kris was able to cue up exact portions of several songs for our wedding party introductions. It was executed flawlessly! Also, he picked up on various things throughout the night from the Best Man's & Maid of Honor's speeches and incorporated the Eagles Fight Song and a 80s/90s Boy Band segment to get people going! As for Kris' punctuality and professionalism, he is always on his A Game. He showed up when he said he would, and worked his magic with his uplighting and sound equipment to make our room look and sound amazing. Every bit of the night was right on cue, and we received countless compliments and praise on the DJ we selected and the quality of the music all night--praise that definitely belongs to Kris! In the short time since we've been married we have had a dozen people ask about our DJ, and some of those folks work in radio and at concert venues! I was told by my wife I had ONE job and that was to make sure our music for our wedding was perfect. I did some research and ended up meeting with Kris from By Design, After speaking with him for about 45 min I was comfortable with him and left a deposit. As we got closer to the date, Kris was very obtainable both by phone and email to answer any questions we had and to help us make our selections for the Special Dances. While we did this you could tell Kris REALLY enjoys what he does, he would pull up songs and sing along and explain why this song works or doesn't work for the dance type. He was open to all suggestions!! He even found a way to work in my music "late 90s and Early 00's Rock/Punk" and IT WAS A HIT!!! I have had so many people come back to me in the last few weeks telling me our wedding was a BLAST and that the DJ was FANTASTIC!!!! If I could give Kris and his team a 10 I would! From the first phone call with Kris, we knew we had to have him at our wedding. Kris is such a fun, outgoing and kind guy that really helped make our reception so much fun. He helped us with our introduction to make it fun and lively and his attention to detail and desire to make sure everyone is having fun is unlike any other. His up-lighting truly transforms a room and we still can't believe how amazing our venue looked once his lights were set up.The photo booth was also a huge hit with us and our guests. Looking for that perfect DJ for our Wedding was a big deal for us. After doing a lot of research DJ Kris, owner of By Design Entertainment, looked like he could be the right guy for our big day. We were not disappointed to say the least! Kris took the time out of his day twice to meet with us leading up to the Wedding. He listened to everything that we wanted. DJ Kris was truly amazing and kept the party going the entire night. He is not one of those DJ’s that just sit back and let the night go by. Kris got the crowd involved, even coming onto the dance floor to show some people that were struggling with the dance moves. DJ Kris played every song requested. Kris even made our ceremony sound beautiful! We have been to a lot of parties and Wedding’s with a DJ and we both agree, there is no other DJ like Kris. He is unbelievable! The lighting he set up and the monogram with our names on it were perfect. We also got the photo booth which can be a part of the DJ package. Heidi ran the photo booth and was incredible! Our first meeting with Kris was great.
We discussed our vision for the wedding with him, and he played music along the way that demonstrated his style and how it would work with ours.
For our wedding, we asked Kris play music from our giant list of requests, but the best part was that he incorporated them so well! My father requested “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran, but didn’t tell me why. It turned out to be part of his father of the bride speech, and as soon as it was over, Kris invited the couples to the dance floor and played the song! I had no idea why my dad wanted that song, and Kris didn’t know either. Kris found the perfect opportunity to play that song and I’ll forever remember that. Another great touch by Kris was when he played the Eagles song after my sister’s speech. Both the best man and MOH speeches were sports-oriented and Kris got the feeling it would be a good time to play the song. It wasn’t planned, but it was fun watching as my husband went around the room cheering on the Eagles, with our guests getting just as excited. Kris even changed the uplighting to green for the song! All very nice touches!
Kris also did a fun game to give away our centerpieces. His humor was great! We were making our rounds to our guests at that time, and watching them enjoy the game so much was a highlight.
Kris was SUPERB and I cannot say enough great things about him. He was a delight from the first meeting, he went above and beyond with such small touches, and he really made our wedding day special. Thanks, Kris!

Had the pleasure of working with Kris in Jersey. He was the first DJ I had ever worked with professionally and let me tell you how easy it he made it to work WITH him and not AGAINST him. As a vendor that is a huge + for us. Not only is he professional but he is VERY good at what he does. You will not be seated at the wedding he is hosting. I wish I had jumped on here sooner to write a review for Kris at By Design Entertainment - he was the DJ for my wedding this past October 21st, 2016 and I am still getting compliments on how amazing he was! Seriously, he was the BEST dj. I would highly recommend him!! Kris was super easy to work with and very accommodating to all our requests, which I was very thankful for because we had so many different things going on throughout our whole reception. Words cannot even begin to express how happy we are with the DJ and photo booth services that both Kris and Heidi provided us with at our wedding. All night we received nothing but compliments and heard excellent things about them from all of our guests. The dance floor was never empty and the photo booth always had someone in it. Kris (and Heidi) are a pleasure to work with, are extremely nice, are very accommodating to your needs/wishes, are very knowledgeable, and super fun! They also provided us with an uplighting service that made the room look amazing and it even changed colors throughout the night. Awesome right? We hired Kris as our DJ for our 9/24/16 outdoor wedding on a family members farm. We couldn't be happier with our choice. Kris is very easy to get along with . He was very accommodating in arriving early so he didn't disrupt our private wedding ceremony held earlier in the day. He also started playing early for the guests that were there in between and arrived early for cocktail hour. We truly appreciate him going above and beyond. Our wedding last night was 100% everything we hoped it would be and then some, and By Design Entertainment played a huge role in that. From start to finish, Kris was willing to add in personal songs/dances that we wanted, organize the wedding party, and keep the night flowing smoothly. When we made last minute changes (during the reception) for the order of events, he had no issues at all doing so. He played our must-haves at just the right times, mixed in with current songs and popular oldies/classics. Our dance floor was never empty. Photo booth was a must have, especially with an attendant to put together our picture strip book and give us our bride/groom props. We hired Kris for our daughters HS graduation party on 6/20/2015. I shopped on line to find a good DJ for our event. I was really impressed with the reviews I read on "bydesign entertainment" and called to check availability and pricing. He was available on the date I needed and the pricing was very reasonable so I booked him. Our party was an outdoor back yard event. He arrived early and was all set up and playing music when the guests arrived. We had a large variety of ages at this party from little kids to older people in their 80's . He was very professional and personable and really got everybody up and dancing. Kris also has a photo booth which we had also and that was a big hit for everyone. . He did games for the kids and played all different venues of music to keep everyone happy. My 18 year old daughter and her friends also thought he was awesome. All my guests were commenting on how great he was and asking him for business cards. If you are looking for a DJ for your event to get your guests up and dancing , Kris is your guy.
