Burke! What can I say that hasn't already been said about this amazing trainer. I trained with him for a few months as I was beginning my fitness journey. He's still one of the few affordable trainers in SD and i was able to keep up with sessions on a social worker's salary haha. Every session was unique to whatever I wanted to focus on that day and he always sent the workouts to me after so I could do them on my own. Even though I wasn't able to continue our sessions, he still checks in with me to see how I am, which I appreciate!! Sending my love to you and the family, Burke! More...

I've been working out with Burke for 6 months now and he is an extraordinary person and trainer!  I've become stronger and fitter - exercises that seemed impossible and intimidating now seem doable.  He helped me push through so many "I can'ts" into this more brave and confident place with my exercise.  He is very encouraging which is so important no matter what your fitness goals are!  If you're considering investing in personal training, he is the person you want in your corner. Been working out with Burke for over 10 years.  I had some major back surgery years ago and had struggled with getting active and healthy and losing weight.  Burke knows how to push me harder than I would push myself, keeps my workouts interesting and insures I have a full body workout without getting injured.  He always asks how I am feeling before we start.  His stretching is super helpful and always is a great way to finish up my workouts. Burke is one of my favorite trainers. He has helped me get in shape and get stronger. I had pretty bad muscle spasms in my back when I started going to Burke some months ago and he listened to my concerns and we slowly got my strength up in my glutes, abs, legs, and shoulders to help with back relief. I used to get accupuncture done every other week for my back spasms and I still get a massage once a month, but I really believe that strengthening my core with Burke has helped my back a lot! Working out with him has helped me not only gain strength but also gain confidence that I have less chance of re-injury in the future. Burke makes you feel very comfortable and is super accommodating to different types of clients. He sends you an email after every exercise to let you know what exercises you did. He works out of a training gym and every person there is with a trainer. There are some people there that are in great shape but also alot of people in average to below average shape that workout there. I've never felt uncomfortable in the gym, all the trainers there are really nice! More...

Burke really helped kick me into gear to get in shape. In only 6 sessions, I learned a ton of new exercises and finally got the motivation to eat healthier and start exercising regularly. I have been training with Burke since 2010 and still look forward to every session. I lost 4 inches in my waist, 30 pounds, and stamina to keep up with the kids. All I have to do is show-up, no thinking about what exercise to do next. Burke is great at taking into account injuries when creating the workout. I have very much enjoyed working out with Burke! I moved to San Diego last year in hopes of finding a trainer out of a smaller gym. Personally I do not prefer the bigger gyms as they can sometimes feel a bit intimidating. He makes me feel so comfortable and pushes me to be a better healthier person. I feel after each session a little bit stronger than I did before I got there and I love feeling strong! =) I would highly recommend him especially because he really treats his clients with respect and truly cares about them and it shows. Burke was recommended to me by a friend so that I could start taking my workouts to the next level. Since day one, he was really understanding about what goals I wanted to achieve as well as noting my weak points so that I can work twice as hard in the areas I need to. Not only am I getting in shape, but the amount of knowledge I'm gaining from these sessions is insane. The workouts are constantly changing and are always pushing me to work my hardest. I've been working out with Burke for three years and he has definitely helped me stay fit and flexible.  He keeps the workout fresh by concentrating on different parts of your body during each workout.  I also feel much stronger and have more stamina when golfing, kayaking and snow skiing!  I would highly recommend Burke! I worked out with Burke for over 1 year and what I have appreciated most about Burke is that he challenges me in a thoughtful way.  He is aware of the ailments I have had and his goal has been to strengthen these areas without causing any injury. He made sure to challenge me in the process and my entire body is stronger as a result.   I took my teen niece and nephew with me to workout; Burke gave us a great challenging workout and checked in with me a few after to make sure the kids were feeling good.  This is an example of the personal approach Burke adds to the training experience. I was very happy with Markshane. He accommodated my schedule, varied my workouts to fit my goals and made me feel very comfortable even though I have a long journey to get back in shape. I understand life gets in the way and it's hard to stay motivated and committed. I've been told by others that have or had a Personal Trainer that having that appointment scheduled helps them stay committed. How many times have you said ok I'm going to wake up early and go to the gym? Or, ok after work I'll go workout? But you don't because you're tired! If you had that appointment scheduled would you have gone? Having that appointment helps that contemplation in your head about going. That's for starters, as far as motivation I find when my clients come see me and give it time they see results far more than physical. They feel better, stronger, have more energy and honestly your mind is just better when you workout. If you come in and give it time I think you will find the results all around will give you the motivation to keep coming and hopefully even find yourself doing things on your own time, just because you will feel good doing it. I started my interest in fitness as a youth playing competitive sports and being taught the fundamentals of fitness and resistance training by my father. I was the runt of the family. A small and very skinny kid growing up I was continuously teased by friends, classmates, and family members. This on going teasing caused me to have body and confidence issues giving me low self esteem. I constantly wished to be bigger, and stronger. The only way to help depress these issues was through sports and fitness.
When I was old enough, I started to experiment with resistance training. All I wanted was to increase muscle size. To stop the teasing. This fueled my passion for health and fitness, which turned into my love of helping others battling the same issues. To help them increase their self-esteem and give them the confidence needed to live life to the fullest.

When you give your hard-earned money in exchange for my services, it’s not an expense for you either, it’s an investment. In exchange for my fee, I'll save you time, energy and money.

First, I’ll help to make sure you get results in a safe and timely manner. You don't have time to learn about fitness at the same depth as I do, but you don’t need to, because I’ve already done that part of the work for you. I'll also save you energy, because fit people are more vibrant. You will have more energy for your families, your work and your hobbies. Lastly, I’ll save you money in the long run. Healthier people spend less money (and less time and energy!) on their health care, and I am helping to ensure that you adopt health-promoting behaviors.

Services

FST Is a specific stretching technique that targets the muscles as well the connective tissue that wraps around and supports our muscles, bones, tendons and joints. This stretching technique is a manual stretch performed with the assistance of a coach, where the therapist will gently pull and move the legs, arms, spine and neck in a smooth motion through varying planes of movement.

Have a problem with Pain, Mobility, Function, and or Stress? Reduced or eliminated and greatly improved within 1-3 sessions.
