What makes a great website?
A great website is one that makes a business owner's life easier. Whether it's increasing sales or raising brand awareness, a great website helps connect with customers 24/7. It's easy to navigate, loads quickly, and looks great on phones and tablets.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What is the goal of the project? Let's start with what you want to happen and then work backward from there. More online sales? A brand that helps you stand out in a crowded marketplace? What are you currently doing? For existing businesses let's talk about what is and is not working now to identify strengths and opportunities that good design can amplify.
Describe your creative process.
Get on the same page about the end goal. Develop a strategy for the "product" we're working on. Have the client send examples of other work they like. Develop a rough simple draft (a wireframe for a website or possibly even a hand-drawn sketch) to make sure we're on the same page. Then develop higher-fidelity mock-ups before beginning development and final designs.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
I need an accurate outline of the project goals, content, and timeline.
What do you love most about your job?
I love helping clients develop a strong brand and online presence that makes them proud of their business.
What inspired you to start your own business?
After graduating from business school I worked in software sales. An organization I was involved with needed a new website and I volunteered to do it... which meant I needed to teach myself web design. I learned at night and had fun figuring everything out. After it launched other organizations and businesses asked me for help. I moved to a different day job working for an art gallery. I redesigned their site leading to increased online sales and was still working for other clients at night. I liked the excitement and challenge of new projects and new people. So I started my own business with the art gallery as my first big client.

After 21 years, Art Palm Beach is the premiere mid-winter art fair. As Creative Director I work with the organizer to design the website, brochures, catalogs, emails, and signage.

The Silver Fund sells exceptional 20th century furniture, silver, design, and decorative arts. I help create the brand strategy that extends from the website, print materials, newspaper and magazine advertising, and social media.
