I have been to Bru Co a few times since they opened, but more recently I have made it my Friday routine to have a beer or two there because of the following reasons:1) It is far enough from work that I don't run the risk of running into people from work. 2) It is locally owned and operated, and I like to support locally owned businesses.3) The tap list is constantly changing and caters for nearly every taste. If you can't find a beer that you like, then I'm not sure what is wrong with you.4) If you are not a beer drinker there are other options.5) The team is always super friendly, and most importantly knowledgeable. 6) As someone who lives and works downtown, I really like any effort to clean up K Street near the G1C. It takes guts to operate a business on K street, and I support their effort. I'm sure it isn't always easy.7) While I haven't eaten there that often, the few times I have, I have enjoyed the innovative menu and the food is pretty good. I appreciate that, for a tap room, they still go to an effort to provide good fresh food.Keep up the good work! More...

My fiancé and I were wandering downtown and wanted to have a few beers. When we saw this spot we decided to check it out and we're glad we did! Great beer selection, wines, and even have a Viking/bull horn we drank out of! The atmosphere was amazing- Justin (owner) and Mitchell are two stand up guys who made our experience THAT much better! They conversed with us, helped us with our selections, and dealt with me after a few drinks- thank you guys by the way. This place really deserves the 5 stars and I hope those reading this try this place out like we did- you won't regret! Thank you bru co. We WILL be back, you're incredible! More...

Hanging out here is so familiar somehow. Like I've known this place my whole life. I haven't, of course. My love and I wandered in here after wine tasting at Bailarín and in need of sustenance. Thankfully Bru Co has both substantial nourishment AND an eclectic variety of beers on tap. They also have really COOL people working here. People who actually wanted to make human connection and chat. I appreciated that.I ended up ordering a banh mi wrap and it hit the spot after a long evening of wine tasting. ;-) Perhaps a bit too heavy on the carrots but still tasty. My fella ordered a Cuban sammie that was quite tasty, I thought. We were quite thankful that Bru Co was offering up freshly prepared food for two hungry souls. Neither of us had trouble picking a beer from their excellent list that offered a refreshing variety of styles. Though this is probably hard to believe for some of you, I was a little tipsy at the time and can't remember what I ordered but I DO remember it tasted like tea and sweet dreams. *looks at Untappd app*...Ah! It was indeed the Oolong Tea Saison from Barebottle Brewing! Yummy. How could I forget that?! The nerve of me. First time trying that beer and it won't be the last. Yum! It was fun to sip and chow down in a welcoming spot, talking to the beertenders and enjoying the muted lighting inside. There's a funky little window that opens out into the patio area of the Coin Op nextdoor, and the view at eye level is all brick and fairy lights. Aesthetically pleasing. Great little spot. We will definitely be back! It's not always as slammed as other spots on the K pre and post G1C events either, which is a definite plus for me. Parking: garages and street metered spaces if you can find them. I wouldn't recommend trying to park in this area during busy periods. Stinkrail is nearby; your chariot awaits. More...

Stumbled on this place yesterday throughly enjoyed my time here. The owner and our bartender was everything you could ask for in a taproom. I enjoy the sleek modern decor that fits perfect for downtown. Great beer selection the champagne ale was my favorite of the day. But I think the hidden gem of this place might be the food. I only had a charcuterie but I'd be damned if it was not one of the best I ever had. Good prices great ambience, great service, good food, and the owner seems to just want to put his best effort forward and I can really appreciate the hustle. Will return soon thanks again. More...

Let me start by saying that although marijuana is legal in California, does it make it right for restaurants to wreak of it during business hours? As a visitor here, I also live in a state where marijuana is legal but have never been to a restaurant where it smelled so heavily of marijuana as it did here. There were a couple ppl at the bar, it was just my friend and I sitting at a table but yet it smelled like someone had turned it into a dispensary. Not sure how that happened especially since the front door was open.Food wise, everything tasted great. As I started to eat the smell of weed started to taper down. I had the shrimp tacos, full of flavor and lots of onions. My favorite! I also had the carrot curry soup, also lots of flavor and little bit of spice. Definitely would eat it again over a bowl of rice.  All in all, it was a cute place. This was one of the few places open in the area on Sundays. Smell of weed was kinda a turn off, but I guess the food made up for it. More...

Located on K Street and right next door to Coin-Op is bru co. taproom. I do hope they get better signage! If you're not concentrating, you might pass it up. Inside they have a window that actually overlooks Coin-Op, makes for interesting people watching.Came here for happy hour a couple of months ago. Tried a few of the brews and the service is most accommodating and helpful. They will happily help you find the right beer by letting you sample what's on hand.Tried the mini tostadas for HH and while tasty, you'd have to order at least a dozen to satisfy your hunger. Or at least this hungry girl would have to. Not wanting to look like a pig, I nonetheless inhaled the six that were offered. As one Yelper pointed out, the ambiance is not your typical brew pub type of joint. More emphasis on the stark and modern. Would be a great spot to highlight local artists' works perhaps. In any case, watch this space as I plan to come back to try out more! More...

This place is awesome! While there are new taprooms and breweries opening up daily it seems, this place still manages to stand out in the crowd. It's in a part of town that is beginning to rise from the ashes. It's right next door to Coin Op and close to Crest Theatre and The Golden 1 Center. A perfect place to stop by if you are going to an event nearby. Justin one of the owners and the other owner who's name I didn't catch were so friendly and knowledgeable. My boyfriend and I had a great time chatting with them and enjoying our beer. I really loved the beer selection, but especially all the sours! I got a honeydew sour from Track 7 which was refreshing, a tad sour, but oh so delicious. The other wonderful aspect of this little gem is that they have real food! So often taprooms offer bar food or even worse, just a bowl of pretzels. Nope! They had cheese plates, sandwiches, salads, even poke. We loved our cheese plate but I look forward to coming here again and trying more. Last but not least, is they have happy hour every day here. No where in town does that. I was a wee bit underwhelmed by this taproom, I expected a better beer selection and more of a biergarten kind of vibe. That wasn't the case. The decor was a bit like a yogurt shop. The gal behind the bar was nice and helpful. We happened to stroll in after an Octoberfest so the beer selection reflected that. Maybe next time I'll order some food to pair with our beers and we may look at their online beer menu ahead of time. ON THE PLUS SIDE, it looks like they do tap takeovers and events. I'm beyond impressed with the customer service here. I flew back home from Florida this evening and reconnected with a long time friend visiting from Texas. He was already buzzed but Cha Cha Cha. Anyways, I tried calling to make sure they were open. No answer. So I drove downtown from Carmichael and upon arrival was told that they were closed although it says they are open til 10pm. I was definitely disappointed, but the general manager Jack quickly flipped the script and took care of us. He hooked us up with several pieces of glassware from the event earlier, and took care of our round of beer. I am a customer for life and will tell all my friends about this place. Stopped in here on a Saturday to get a beer and watch some football.  Pretty dead downtown, not many people.  Very good service, nice beer selection too. Have lots of local beers alongside other strong selections.  I had the jalapeño poppers on happy hour and they were not great.  They are cut in half, seeded, grilled and then filled with goat cheese.  I like jalapeños and I like goat cheese but they just need something more. I'm ordering jalapeno poppers because I thought they were fried and not good for me!  So just tempura fry them to make it different.  Don't make it a healthy food.  I wouldn't order them again. But the place is still cool and the beers were still solid. I would definitely return for a beer.By the way, you can tell a lot about a place from the timeliness of their response to your yelp post. I chose the day after the California Beer Festival to head downtown to check out the newest beer hall on the grid and it surpassed my snooty expectations. Brü-Co sits on 9th and K right next door to Coin-Op three blocks from the Golden 1 Center.  Currently they have 21 craft beers on tap and a wide assortment of bottles and cans.  Having just endured the giant Festival that was literally around the corner they had a sour event that still occupied two thirds of those taps.  That still left like 8 or 9 other handles, one being nitro. The decor is simple but not divey.  Think Ikea stools.  There are maybe a half dozen low top tables inside and stools with narrow bars along the walls and a decent sized patio area in front.    Plenty of room. The food is as high quality as the beer.  The meat and cheese board was fantastic and my wife, the sober driver, had a Myolans diet cola and some jalapeno poppers that were incredible.  Come check out what Justin is doing.
