Broad Branch Market is a cool place that is conveniently located just a block away from Lafayette Elementary. It looks like a normal house, but then you go inside and it's not actually a house. They have like food and drinks  and bagels and stuff there. They also have very high quality Wonder Woman pez dispensers and midget size wax paper. My only complaint is that they did not have any nerd ropes last time I went. They have good customer service as well. More...

Broad Branch Market has almost all the the selection and charm of Dinah Lingo's Grocery but without the need to drive all the way to Rehoboth.  For a quick stop for milk or break (or wine!) I will happily pay BBM's premium prices to avoid the interminable lines at the Ch Ch Safeway.  And supporting small local businesses is just the right thing to do. More...

I live several blocks away from broad branch and go there fairly regularly to pick up dinner, lunch, or a cup of coffee. On the plus side, this is a local market with a surprisingly diverse and delicious range of food stuffs, good wine, and household items. If you're in a pinch for that milk or egg for your morning breakfast, they will generally have it.  It is not the most affordable option around but it is convenient and tasty.Service can be a mixed bag and for that reason, along with the slightly inflated prices, it receives four stars instead of five.Overall, everyone I know in this neighborhood is greatly appreciated of of the fact it is not the most affordable option around but it is convenient and tasty.Service can be a mixed bag and for that reason, along with the slightly inflated prices, it receives four stars instead of five. Many come for the fresh baked bread, others come for the sandwiches and variety of healthy sides. One of the best places to come for ice cream on a hot summer night. Whatever you choose they have picnic tables and benches in front of the market which really take the experience to next level. Plus the have bin candy for kids also. One of my favorite things is the meat case, where they sell cuts of meat at decent prices. More...

Came in for a quick snack on my way home from school. The chocolate croissant, albeit on the higher end of the price spectrum, was worth every penny. I didn't stay for long (in and out in less than five minutes) but the market looks lovely. It complements the neighbourhood perfectly and is conveniently located. And as a bonus, they accept Apple Pay! Not needing my debit card is very nice. 10/10 would visit again. More...

Frequent this place because it's next to my kids school - nice selection of wine in the back. Our neighborhood market!  A great market to run to if you are not inclined to run to Safeway nearby or down to Whole Foods Market in Friendship Heights.  Whenever I run out of something I needed for my cooking, I will just walk up to Broad Branch Market and I will always find what I needed.  Management is great and the cashiers are so nice and friendly...I was there one day and I was a nickel short...would you believe the young girl covered up for my shortage!  As far as prices are concerned.....I believe it is comparable to what I will pay the grocery.  I cannot  agree or disagree with Justin K for the "overpriced" prepared-meal collection as I have never needed to buy prepared meals.Broad Branch Market is a great addition to the neighborhood. They have everything..it is a "mini grocery the neighborhood appreciates.By they way, it is a family gathering place on weekends with outdoor tables and sitting place to sip  coffee or tea and enjoy some of the market's goodies! They also make sandwiches on the spot. I recommend the Reuben or pastrami. As you move further into the market you get your market staples - peanut butter, chips, canned goods, etc. They also have plenty of beer and wine options. Every yuppified, whole Food shopping, LuLuLemon wearing, afluenza suffering crunchy, NPR listening granola head wishes they lived a few blocks from a BBM type place--even if it was only to complain about their patrons Tesla blocking their driveway. There is no denying that BBM has great food. You are going to pay for it, but it will seldom disappoint. If I lived nearby, it would be tempting to serve something from their prepared foods a few times a week. This place's picture should be next to the definition of one-stop-shop. Booze, ice cream, fine meats and breads, toilet paper, hot sauce, everything is here! And, to top it off, it's all quality stuff. This isn't you're corner store bodega, no, it's like a mini-wegmans or mini-wholefoods minus the weird hippie smell. I stopped in this place while at work because some wires were down after a storm in upper NW and we all hung out with the staff while waiting for PEPCO. Super nice staff, all the neighbors love the place, and so did we. My firehouse is across the park in Brightwood but we make the trip over from time-to-time for ice cream or other treats. Broad Branch Market really has everything you'd want in a neighborhood market. And, if you don't have the kind of money to do your regular produce shopping here (as a recent grad, I certainly don't), you should definitely make it over for lunch. Best prepared food I've had there is the turkey sandwich with prosciutto, gouda, arugula (once this was substituted with broccoli rabe, just as tasty if not more), and some kind of rich orange marmalade (?) on fresh ciabatta. Easily one of my favorite sandwiches in DC-- it's tough to make a turkey sandwich dynamically flavorful, but BBM does it.Their banh mi sandwich was good too, but didn't wow me like the turkey sammie. Worth a try if you like banh mis, but IMHO, it tasted like a deli trying its hand at banh mi instead of just delicious banh mi (see El Floridano's for comparison). They also have a ruben and an "Industrial" italian hoagie and will make sandwiches to order.Other awesomeness: chicken tenders (moist, chunky white meat w/ seasoned breading); the extensive candy and ice cream selection that has its own room; wine and beer; really nice and friendly folks.I've also tried the mac n' cheese ($6.79/lb) and greek salad ($6.99/lb): fine but not memorable enough to pay the price again (both a bit bland). The sandwiches, however, are reasonably priced at around $8-9 and an exceptional value considering the quality of ingredients they use.One thing I'd really love to see are more sandwich creations on the menu-- it seems limited to 4 and doesn't fluctuate much (or at all?). It's nice that we can create our own, but given the success of the ingredient combo on the turkey sandwich, I'd love to see what else the BBM folks can come up with. More...

This is the heart and soul of the neighborhood! The Broad Branch Market has been a neighborhood fixture for eons, and now with the newly renovated building and new owners, they have keyed into the upscale urban customer that lives in this neighborhood with all the right ingredients. Kids, they love kids, it is across from a school and they cater to families with young kids.Dad's, they love Dad's, they have a nice selection of wine and beer, and pre-made food that makes any Dad into a SuperPop!Dogs, they love dogs, water bowls and treats and a place to tie the pup up outside while you shop.Mom's they must love mom's because they make so many pre-made items, mom can take them home, pop them in the oven, and it looks like she is a gourmet chef who lives to make good food.Items that I like the best are the fresh made baguettes, wonderful cheese's and the Cafe Xinca coffee. always worth a stop there for those items. They make sandwiches there too, so if you are on the run, stop in and have them make you one!   And then just sit out on one of the picnic bench's out front and relax and watch the neighborhood bound by.Prices are not cheap, but you get your money's worth in quality here.  Check in on the social media sites like Foursquare, Yelp and Shopkick, they are hip and up on those and often have special discounts, deals or specials listed there!Saturday morning the Lafayette Farmer's Market is on across the street, a perfect compliment to this market. I highly recommend Broad Branch Market for your next catered event. They recently catered a party for approximately 40 guests in our home.  As a couple of novice party planners, my partner and I really appreciated Tracy and John, who are great to work with and helped us to arrange all of the details. The food was outstanding and was complimented by all of our guests. The service (arranged by Broad Branch Market and provided by PartyHandsDC) was impeccable. As for other Yelpers' comments about price, I didn't shop around very much and so I don't know how the prices compare. However, there are two things to keep in mind: 1. This is Chevy Chase. 2. You get what you pay for. I also recall seeing a comment (somewhere) about Broad Branch staff not answering the phone. This is not something I experienced, but if it does happen, it may have to do with the fact that they are very busy, and having worked with them, I don't wonder why. This is a great Chevy Chase, DC neighborhood store. It is smack dab in the middle of a very tight-knit community - kitty corner from Lafayette Elementary School. It offers a select variety of high end cheeses and other accompaniments like olives, bake goods and fancy fig jams as well as a small grocery section selling staples in a back room, ice cream in another room and a take-out deli in the main room. Their tomato soup is excellent. My friend bought their macaroni and cheese which was not neon orange like you may be used to. They also sell a bottled juice called Tizane. It is made by a local neighborhood Chevy Chase couple and it is 100% Organic. I liked the jasmine flavor. They have lemongrass and hibiscus flavors too.
