I want to give a very special thank you to attorney Joseph Novel for helping my sister and brother in law today. They have 2 autistic children, one of which just turned 18 - - the age of legal capacity, meaning they no longer have legal authority to make personal, financial or most importantly medical decisions for him. This particular nephew also has cerebral palsy and suffered brain damage at birth. He is in no way able to make his own decisions about anything. My sister has been sick with stress and worry about what is going to happen and has been trying her best to go about getting conservatorship on her own, but has had no luck. She has been trying to get help from the regional center (a place designed to help families and individuals with special needs) but hasn't even been able to get into the training classes. She's contacted other attorneys to help and found they have all been too expensive for them to afford. I was referred to BridgeLegal by a friend, so I decided to reach out on behalf of my sister, as to not upset her if it turned out like the rest. I called yesterday (a Sunday) expecting to get a voicemail, leave a message and hope for a return call sometime later in the week, but Mr. Novel actually answered! I was shocked! I spoke with Mr. Novel and he was very understanding, reassuring and knowledgeable about my family's situation and I was able to make an appointment for the next day! He met with them and assured them he would be able to help at a more affordable price. My sister feels 100 times better and thanked me for setting up the appointment! She described how professional yet personable he was and how she left BridgeLegal feeling like a weight had been lifted. Mr. Novel was able to help my family when they felt lost. Wow! I have to say hands down the best law firm I have been to! Once I sat with Joseph I knew he was the lawyer for me. Dealing with organizing my family's assets was hard enough but having it all in one place was exactly what I needed. The thing that stood out to me the most is that Bridge Legal doesn't "sell" you on the concept on why you need estate planning rather there is educational aspect. First 30-45 minutes of the free consultation was pure education. Understanding the differences between will and trust as well as power of attorney and all the other legal docs needed.
