I can surely say that my New Year's Eve has gone right as me and my friends went for the best Indian restaurant in Montclair. The sizzlers over here are amazing. Specially the seekh kebabs as well as the shrimp and the queen curry here I'll say is saag and moilee. The flavors are amazing and I can no doubt say that this is the best Indian restaurant I've ever went to so far. Though they were crazy on the 31st evening. They were trying to give a proper service to everyone. More...
I really love their dishes. I always get fantastic service there. The place is well kept and the employees are always kind. I highly recommend this place.
Hands down, my favorite Indian food in the area. Every single thing on the menu is delicious! Every curry is made with love, portions are generous, service prompt and friendly. Go for the weekday lunch special.
I simply enjoy their dishes. I always get fantastic customer service here. The place is always clean and the workers are always welcoming. Will come visit again.
Always good food
This spot has superb service as well as yummy food. The best spot in the city. The food and drinks came out quick and the prices are affordable. Recommended.
I've been looking at this place for a while but didn't have a good reason to go until now.A friend of mine was in town, so I decided to take her. Parking is a bear but we found a spot.I entered the room and it was super cozy. I loved the decor and music. The host was quick and sat us down at a nice table. After figuring out what dishes were made of we ordered Aloo Samosa, Chicken Tikka Masala for her and Tofu Goan for me. As well as a side of garlic naan, plain naan, and riceWe also got a drink which I didn't catch the name, but it had bananas, mango, coconut, and a touch of pineapple, I think. It was thick and really good. My friend didn't like the texture and viscosity. The samosa arrived as 2 large pieces. With a tomato based sauce on the side. The samosas were cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious with very so slight bite that paired well with the potatoes and peas. The chunky sauce sat on a bed of curly beets and carrots. Very colorful indeed. The main courses came out and they smelled delicious! She liked her Chicken Tikka Masala, but the meat was a bit tough for her, so she dipped the naan in the curry. "The naan is like pizza dough!" I gave her side eye and said, "You Midwestern girl." She giggled. My Tofu Goan was wonderful. The tofu held on to the spicy and flavorful curry and when placed on the rice, it was a flavor explosion in my mouth. Even better than the Indian food I had in AZ.Rating: 1 Star for environment, although it did get too noisy for me.1 Star for Excellent service.1 Star for Dish presentation1 Star for Flavorful food1 Star for Overall quality of experience.I'm going back. Loved the meal. Thanks for the great food
The lunch special here is great deal -- your choice of curry (I got chicken tikka masala), rice, naan (I substituted with garlic naan which was plentiful, fresh, and perfectly seasoned),daal (savory veggie & potato mix) and lentils. It makes for a really comforting meal. I had enough for leftovers, too. At the end , you get a choice of dessert -- either rice pudding or gulab jamun, a spongy cake ball soaked in cream and honey. It was the perfect afternoon hideout for me, I would absolutely go recommend it. More...
Excellent flavors. Wonderful service.
What a hidden gem Brick Lane is. The most amazing Indian food I've tasted in America! The service is fantastic and the food is outstanding! As far as value for money goes, this restaurant is exceptional! If I could recommend eating anywhere in Montclair, Brick Lane would be my number one choice! More...
Although there are killer curries, if you dont like super spicy food, don't skip this delicious place. plenty of wonderfully flavorful but not spicy things. Great vegetarian/vegan options too. Generous portions, it was two meals for me: I brought half home. server was delightful and helpful. More...
Good food and good service, thanks!!
Small restaurant serving delicious Indian cuisine. The service staff is very accommodating. The lamb samosas are spiced just right and they offered a vast selection of curries. The Goan and if you like spicy food, the vindaloo, are two of my favorites. More...
The Naan is so fresh and delicious. The paneer makhani is one of my favorites in the area. The food is overall fresh
Regularly order for high-quality British-style Indian food. Lunch special is a good deal. Otherwise fairly pricey but still worth it. Best flavors from India and friendly staff from this outpost of the NYC location. Very small seating area but most orders seem to be takeout/delivery anyway. Recommend! More...
Lovely Indian food and very friendly service.
Wonderful, flavorful, fresh food, friendly and accommodating service, lovely atmosphere. I always take my mother here and they're great about making the curries mild for her (and spicy for me). This is one of my favorite Indian places anywhere. More...
Exceptional food, super nice staff, consistently great character. They charge affordable prices and the food quality is great. Kudos.
Such a cute place and the food was amazing. Don't eat Indian food often so the waitress was great at explaining everything for me and gave me and table great options to try.
Great service and food. Best lunch options- fast and delicious! Really lovely ambiance and location.
The service here was great! Our waitress was very helpful and gave lots of tips or which protein goes with which curry dish! The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered tikka masala with chicken. My friend ordered a dish with lamb, and it was cooked well. The naan was so good. I will definitely be going back and I cannot wait to try something new! More...
It's about my experience I had last Monday when I went to the restaurant it was usual day but the smile on the face on my server made my day 'Rishika' me and my family specially my wife loved the experience. She took her time out to explain everything she was patient kind and helpful her positive shined through each and every conversation and she was outstanding she brought us new plates after the course of meal as well as clean out the table as has became crowded with food she check our table periodically to see if anything needed but on the other hand made sure not to disturb our conversation. The food did took bit long to arrive but as it was a long and really busy but waiting for it was worth and it has became my favorite Indian restaurant More...

One of my all time favorite places to go to especially when I am craving for their Chicken Tikka Masala. It is one of the bests in the world. They are BYOB! I used to live near the Indian Restaurant row on 6th St bet 1st & 2nd Avenues where often my cravings for comfort Indian food was met. I was very glad to discover Brick Lane Curry House as the place to go for good food not too far from where we moved to in Bloomfield, NJ. Highly recommended! More...
Excellent and flavorful food, I love the mood the spot has, and the staff members were very welcoming. I will definitely visit here next time.
Best Indian food around. Location is ideal and place is very cozy. The staff is super friendly. Went for a lunch buffet and the meal was delicious. have also been there couple of times for dinner and never disappointed. If you are bold enough then try the Phall Curry. Also the plus is it is BYOB. More...
One of my go-to spots to grab some food. convenient location, always clean, and great service. A must try!
Had a good experience in this place with my friend. The food comes out quickly and the customer service is just excellent. Prices are reasonable.
Great food. Really good rice pudding!
Best food, kind staff, regularly good mood. They charge fair prices and the food quality is excellent. Keep it up.

Awesome authentic Indian food
Incredible, beautiful, awesomeness.
Service was exceptional!!! And the food was AMAZING!!!!! Everything had tremendous flavor!
Love this place!
Food was delicious. We will definitely be going back again. The samosas were huge and fabulous.
First time here and loved everything I tried! Ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and Paneer Vindaloo. So good! Didn't realize the Paneer Vindaloo was spicy but still delicious! The restaurant was small and cozy and I love the atmosphere. The owner and employees were very nice and came to check up on us. Will definitely come again! More...
Amazing experience !! Good ambience, location, food, portion size and staff. Met one of the owners Mr. Satinder - very nice and welcoming person ! Thanks and God bless !
This was my first time having Indian food and I was very impressed. The flavors were amazing, the food was great, and the service was good! It looked like there was one server for all the tables and he was attentive and nice. We ordered appetizers and entrees and everything was just great! I'm excited to go back and try more things! I had the Bhuna chicken which I think was a great choice for a first timer. The garlic naan was also SO GOOD! More...
Wife and I have been to Brick Lane twice and enjoyed both experiences. The food is excellent, had tikka masala and korma. Service was great as well. Atmosphere was relaxing and quiet enough for us to talk. Definitely coming back. More...
This is our go-to Indian restaurant. It is bit expensive than other Indian restaurants but the consistent quality and taste make it totally worth spending that much money. Our favorite is Goan and Madras style of curries with any kind of meat. They have this very unique appetizer called Imli-baingan which is tamarind flavored chips of friend eggplant topped with fresh unflavored yogurt. I haven't found this recipe in anywhere over or even in India. More...
Loved this place and the staff here is very nice and courteous. We went for lunch, had the tikka masala..it was wonderful and their naan bread was amazing! As sides they gave us a veggie dish and a chick pea dish...how delicious. For dessert a warm dessert dumpling with some warm syrup...just lovely. Can't wait for our next visit! More...
It was my first time coming here and I loved it! My sister-in-law and I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Paneer Vindaloo with Naan and had the rice on the side. Loved every bit of it and definitely will come again really soon! More...
They have a good lunch menu
I really wanna give this place 5 stars staff is friendly places nice the food is good. The only problem is if you're picking up food be prepared to walk because like all other stablishment in Montclair the parking is horrible. It is a 5 star all the way for me if I was to go in and sit down and have a meal More...
Exceptional service and friendly staff. The ambiance was very cozy. Adding Brick Lane to my list.
BK from the Rockies
Very good food with very polite staff. The lunch special prices for the amount and quality of food is phenomenal. The only issue I ran into was finding parking; your best bet is to park in the grocery store lot a block away and then walk back. Still, completely the walk. BK More...
Delicious tikka masala and Mattar paneer with garlic naan :)
I came here with my sister for a late night dinner on a Saturday around 9:30 pm. I ordered the lamb vindaloo and she got the chicken tikka masala which were both phenomenal. The price is a little on the higher side but I think the dishes were well worth it. The vindaloo was very spicy but still edible. And the chicken tikka was probably the best I've had (and that says a lot because Indian is my favorite cuisine). We also ordered the lassuni gobi appetizer which was okay. The service was a little slow for how empty it was but it didn't bother me. I will definitely come back to try out other things on the menu. More...
I have only tried this place once but the food was really good. The menu was pretty standard for Indian places and the prices were decent. The wife and I order the chicken tikka Masala with rice and garlic nan. Was not disappointed. I would probably come back. - street parking - small seating area More...
Love this place the food is very tasty and the staff is very friendly.
Unique innovative curries and great service
First time eating Indian food and I was amazed by how good it was. The simosas and eggplant chips were excellent appetizers and for my plate I had the coconut curry with chicken and garlic roti. I will definitely come back to this place. Quiet and cozy environment. More...
Great service and authentic food. I would recommend this place for good Indian food. Great place to visit if your are from out of town wanting Indian food
This is our FAVORITE place for Indian food in Montclair! We've been to Michelin Star Indian restaurants and this one comes close. The sesame naan is to die for, and the curries are truly special. If you're in the area the food is seriously worth the stop. More...
If you fancy a "Ruby" (As my British friends would say), You won't be disappointed. Great service and a great job with all the staple dishes. The Korma , Masala and Vindaloo were great. They even hv Phall for the Brave ;~} More...
A great find! I wish I knew about this place sooner. We'll be coming back! We came with a group of 3 couples, tried a little of everything and shared family style. No one was disappointed! The vindaloo, tikka masala, various types of naan, various types of rice, vegie, fish, chicken and meat dishes, were all delicious. The owners were fun and gracious. This is a BYOB which cuts down on the cost. My only knock is that the desserts were limited to sorbet and rice pudding. More...
As always, epic vindaloo! Always recommended! Everything is great here, except, the parking which is usually in the nearby supermarket parking lot. ;)
We are regular patrons of Brick Lane and enjoy their variety of curries, which they will prepare with whatever level of spice you prefer. We particularly favor lamb bhuna and saag paneer, both with a medium level of spice. The two top levels of spice, vindaloo and the one above it, require an asbestos palate. Prices are in line for the quality of the dishes served. Dinner for two about $50 More...
Bhuna curry is scrumptious.
Nice atmosphere. Yummy food. If you are sensitive to spicy food request mild spice in your dishes. We ate the vegetarian options which were delicious, especially the paneer. They have quite a few naan options garlic, rosemary, basil, sesame, ginger. We have been many times, it’s one worth revisiting. More...
I enjoy coming here a lot. Plus, it's situated on a block in Montclair where I almost always find parking immediately. Service is a little slow, but the ambience is pleasant, so I don't mind. The naan is delicious, as is the tikka masala, goan, korma, vindaloo, and samosas. I wouldn't reccomend the chutney. I've yet to have a bad meal here. Always delicous. You can't beat the lunch menu either. Great price. Lots of food. More...
I visited east coast for a vacation this Christmas and happened to visit Bricklane restaurant. The ambience and food was delicious and way beyond my expectations. It is very hard to find a good indian restaurant offering a wide variety withsuch authentic taste. The manager was courteous and helped us decide on what we should order and it turned out to be appetising. The sizzler items are a must try. I really wish if you guys had a branch in the west coast too. Keep it up! More...
Very good fresh Indian fare. Nice staff. Fair prices.
This place helps define what five star Indian cuisine is for me.
Best Indian food I have ever had. Apps were fantastic .Make sure to byob
Consistently great food and service
Amazing Indian food Don't get the Paahl curry/side I used to go to this place back when it was in its previous NJ location and I'm glad I found it again Its on the more expensive side but the food is really good, and remember, leftovers are delicious if you don't finish your meal. We actually ordered a lot. And then some more to go. Their cauliflower appetizer is amazing. Its this crispy cauliflower in a sweet lightly spicy sauce. Seriously a must. The we ordered potato paratha which was meh and we got garlic naan that was amazing!! We had to order 2 more! We ordered two kinds of Korma - chicken and lamb. If you like a sweeter sauce and like creamy nutty curry, get this one. We also got the lamb Jalfrezi curry. This is a medium spiced tomato, onion and bell pepper curry. Really good We also got the Malai Kofta. This is a great option for vegetarians. This is a vegetable and cheese dumpling-ish dish in a mild creamy tomato nut curry sauce. Its like vegetarian meatballs. Really delicious. Not spicy at all, even sweet. We also got lamb tikka masala to go and it was amazing! Now for Phhal curry sauce. We got this as a side. CAUTION. I didn't realize it was the same as the notorious Phhal dish. Well I submerged my naan in it and regretted it for 30 minutes until I broke and got a mango lassi. Its extremely hot, even for spice lovers. Its more painful than tasteful. I love spicy food, but eating a tablespoon was a mistake. This is an extremely concentrated ghost pepper (#3 most spicy pepper in the world) sauce. If you want to eat it, take a drop of it, not even a teaspoon. Only for the adventurous. Highly recommended More...
Favorite Indian restaurant! And they deliver to West Orange !!!! The food never disappoints.
Mayra M Azcue
the food was excellent, service not the best
New favorite spot alert !!! Ok so honestly I was always hesitant to try Indian food after my first bitter experience so I never gave it a second shot until now! Wow ! Game changer ! I love everything about Indian cuisine now , the variety of flavors in just one bite is just yum!! So into what I got here at the Brick Lane. For starters I got their traditional mango smoothie , the mango flavor was rich And i enjoyed how it complemented the food. What I ordered was the lamb lunch special, which comes with a side of rice and lentils (I believe , whatever it was , it was great ) . The lamb was marinated in this delicious spicy sauce that I enjoyed very much. It was crazy spicy but just right to tingle my taste buds. My friend got the chicken Takki and that was also very delicious, the chicken wasn't dry , rich in flavor and when you eat it with the salad , phenomenal! They bring you complimentary brews that goes great with the food! Also, got the Cauliflower , a heathy alternative to the fried stuff in the menu ! Overall this place has a nice subtle upscale feel to it. The food is almost served like family style, enjoyed that very much ! I truly can't wait to come back and take my taste buds on another flavorful trip ! More...
Highly recommend dining at this fine establishment in Montclair! Easy to get to from the MSU train station and offers some of the best Indian food in the area. The menu is straight forward, but what I appreciated most about this place is that you have the ability to choose the sauce with a protein or meat. It felt like building your own dish at Brick Lane. I went with the chicken tikka masala and it was A+ material. The menu is priced like NYC so it is a bit pricy but the staff and manager are very nice and deserve good tips!I recommend opting for the mango lassi since it will help cool down the spicy food! I recommend their garlic naan as it is mouthwatering! More...
Very good food. Highly recommend. We got the garlic naan and the chicken tika. Didn’t love the saag paneer. Otherwise would have been 5 stars.
Pricy but worth it
Great place to eat. I ordered lamb curry really good. Apps were also great. Plus it byob and they get you your food pretty fast.
Delicious! If you go later in the evening there might be a little wait for your meal, but is worth it. The food is amazing with a cozy environment.
Absolute delight. Charming little spot in a quaint little town, great service, fun music, among the best Jalfrezi and Tikka Masala dishes I've ever had. Bringing my own, made it perfect.
Delicious food. I finally found my go to place. BYOB.

Just good quality Indian food. It’s really delicious.
Absolutely terrific Indian food. Friendly service and wonderful variety of offerings. Relaxed atmosphere with small but attractive dining area. Would highly recommend as a night out or even get take out to spice up a weekday dinner!! More...
The lunch special is amazing! I ordered the chicken vindaloo (very spicy for those of you who don't know indian food well! ) and it was AMAZING. It comes with rice and plain naan. Replaced the plain naan for the garlic (worth the additional cost!). It comes with a veggie of the day (creamed broccoli & potatoes) and lentils! Wasn't a fan of the included dessert- rice pudding (too creamy for me) but everything else was delicious! Cute space inside. Plenty of metered spots around the restaurant. Was my first time here but definitely will be back very soon! More...
Délicieux.... Les Pains, les curry, sont très bon.....j ai juste eu du mal a comprendre l anglais du serveur indien..... Je recommande vivement
The food was good. A bit pricier than the competitors.
Tasty and Indian
One of my favorite spots!! Food is delicious. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
You will not be disappointed. The food and service are outstanding.
Loved this place...best Indian food I've had since leaving the UK.
Only my 2nd time there, recently. Food is fresh and tastes great. Loved it. Definitely going back.
Great food, expertly made. Especially appealing to any Brits pining for curries made in the British style, with extra flair.
The food is always great and the staff is very attentive! One of our favorite places!
I tried the phal challenge and I coul't do it.. I'll come back again my next time in NY for a new try
Great Indian food, we live near Edison, mecca of Indian food, but would rather travel 35 minutes to Brick Lane to get some much better Quality food.
Amazing food!! Very impressed. Definitely recommend for lunch
A small, innocuous looking restaurant situated on sleepy corner of Montclair. But the Lunch Buffet on a December Tuesday, was anything but plain. Not a huge selection, but considering the size of the restaurant, our $12.95 AYCE buffet exceeded expectations. Everything we tried was fresh, and bursting with Indian spices. Plus, they served us a basket of hot, buttery Nan; and a surprise complimentary chafing dish of sizzling veggies, delivered to our table. It's also a BYOB. Brick Lane is a winner, in my book. More...
If you have ever eaten curry in the UK you will love the curry they make at Brick Lane, since moving to the US 20 years ago we tried every curry house in the area without success. The first time we walked into Brick Lane we loved the simple decor and then fell in love with the food. Finally authentic British style curry! And for dessert don't miss the rice pudding, heavenly! Oh and don't be a plonker, avoid the phaal challenge. Curry should be flavorful not painful! More...

Our family eats at Brick Lane Montclair at least once a week. The buffet option is a nice addition-- gives my slightly picky children a chance to try new things.
Great food great staff great service. If you feel like a daredevil , try the phal curry or just ask to try the Phal sauce
We love this place! Cute little restaurant, best Indian food we've ever had. Plus friendly attentive service. The naan is to die for. The sauces perfectly balanced. Very authentic. If you've never tried Indian food this would be a good place to start. They have many menu options. More...
I love the biryani spicy rice , vindaloo tastes great! I order the tikka masala as well. The tikka masala was sweet as I honestly don't like sweet food, so it wasn't something I like. If you the kinda who don't mind eating sweet dish. Try the tikka masala, because of its favor . Roti and Paratha was great!!!!! The waiter suggested I try the paratha, gl it was very delicious!! The restaurant looks great from the inside and the waiters very polite . I definitely recommend trying this place . More...

Delicious food, and the waiter was very friendly and helpful. Nice decor, cozy interior. Pricey, but that's to be expected for the area. The food took a while, but since it's a small place and they seem to make everything fresh, I don't take much issue with that. Just wish their chicken tikka was a little spicier, and that they had dessert options. More...
Lunch special gives you a lot for the money! Meat, rice, naan, and a side! The tikka masala is very very good. Their tofu is pretty good too!
Good food (cauliflower app is great!). Prices are a bit steep given that it is not centrally located in Montclair. The waiters are very overbearing. Recommend take out.
Delicious food, great service

Just found this place and it is being added to the usual rotation. Fantastic curry.
Good lunch specials, but the Phan isn't so good.

Definitely go for their lunch special. Super affordable and so much food for lunch. Best Indian food I’ve ever had. Love this place and the staff so much. I’m a regular now
Best Indian restaurant around
Food is great!! Service is good! Only 4 stars because the service was great, but little slow.
Some of the best Indian I've ever had.
Casual atmosphere with high quality Indian dishes. One of the better Indian restaurants in the area.

Delicious, authentic Indian food
Great food. Great service.
I love Indian food but I have to say that I wasn't too fond of their chicken korma. Everything else was great including the customer service.
Deliciuous food.. highly recommend!!!
Delicious, but get your clothes dry cleaned afterwards.
Best Indian restaurant around!!
Best Indian food around I highly recommend. Little hard to find parking but honestly it's worth it once your inside and eating.
Great place, large portions of food that is eccentric and plentiful, the spice is not pussilanimous either..
It is a quaint and cozy place sitting on the corner of Valley Street. The staff is attentive but in no rush to take your order as they allow you to first set and unwind. While the place is not that large inside it takes on a larger field due to the layout. It is a popular place and attracts both older people as well as youth. I would not call it a trendy place but it definitely is a cool place. The food is good and comes well seasoned and fresh. It is a bring your own establishment and they do offer mocktails for those who do not care to drink. Parking may be a challenge as there is not a lot behind the restaurant and so on the street parking is difficult. I would definitely suggest this restaurant who are a date night or even a bite after a movie. The prices are moderate you can expect to pay anywhere between 35 to $45 per person if you have an appetizer, soft drink entree and dessert. More...
Brick Lane makes for an excellent lunch spot for me and my co-workers. While it isn't a buffet, they deliver plenty of food with your order, not to mention the selection of currys have all been superb.
Cozy place with good food. For those who don't like spice the non spicy option is great. The rice portion os a bit small so you will have to order more rice fairly often
Great food, enjoyed Veg Jalfrezi and daal makhani
Food was good of course. They haven't there for ages. This places is full of doors :). Food is nice and tasty but prices are way too high. We had paneer Tikka and naan along with vegetable biryani. Vegetable biryani would need little changes but overall taste is what matters. Which was good. But pricey. More...
So pleased to finally stop into this small Indian restaurant in Upper Montclair. My lunch time special of fork-tender lamb in Madras gravy, Basmati rice, black lentils and savory green beans could not have been better prepared and presented. The dessert of rice pudding with hints of cardamom was creamy, not too sweet, topped by chopped toasted cashews. Service was prompt and attentive, and the quirky decor captured my eye. Definitely a spot for many return visits whenever I get the urge for great, affordable Indian food. More...
Bit on the expensive side however their food is top notch. The lunch specials come with a main course, small side and rice with dessert and naan bread for $12.99, a great deal.
It's all about the curry - and nobody does it better. For a deal and/or to try it out, go for the lunch.
Best meal everChicken lamb shrimp all excellent
The food was really good, ordered Veg Jalfrezi, and Dal Makhani. The service was great.
Excellent food (by far the best Indian food I've found in this corner of nj). Very reasonably priced. The staff were lovely people, very friendly and attentive. I can't emphasize this enough: they were determined that we enjoy the experience (we did very much). Parking can be a little difficult but that is true of the entire town of Montclair. Highly recommend, I can't wait to go back. More...
Favorite date night spot! My husbands first tome having Indian food, the server was very helpful with descriptions of the menu items. We had the lamb samosa- so delicious! I ordered chicken tikka masala, he had the bhuna. Great ambience with lighting and romantic music. They seem to have a heavy take out business. Fast refilling the water which is 5stars in my book! The samosa chat was cold. It is usually served hot. Other entrees were good. We tried peeli daal and malai kofta.
Modern, amazing, and delicious BYOB Indian restaurant. They have lots of vegetarian options. Their garlic naan was fresh and had real garlic slices. I don't remember the dish that I ordered since I went to this restaurant several weeks ago, but I remember it being so good that I can't wait to go back! Keep in mind if you go that the parking is off street parking, so bring quarters.Update:I went back here again after a few months. The food was just as good as I remember it. Excellent, friendly service with chic and modern atmosphere. What a great restaurant!! Highly recommend! More...
I have eaten a lot of Indian food in my life and this was by far some of the best. We ordered samosas which they actually ran out of but made fresh just for us, delicious. Chicken tikka masala and vegetable jafrezi, both excellent. Garlic naan fresh and tasty. Byob too. Can't wait to go back! More...
Good food. Price is an issue, especially for those of us used to 7th St. NYC. where you get top notch Indian for a fraction of th price. Quality is great, but again...
$12 lunch special gets you a curry, rice, naan, dal, vegetables, and rice. Everything on the menu looks good, but it's hard to top that deal, so I may never try the rest of the menu! The lamb madras is especially good. I eat the sauce with a spoon. A bonus for me is there's no pappadum, no 3 little dishes of condiments that you never eat and feel guilty for discarding (requiem for all the 90% full containers of tamarind chutney out there)There's also no parking. More...
Had another great Korma meal; if I did have a complaint, I have to say that it is very expensive for the amount of food you receive. If the food wasn't exceptional -- and it is -- the pricing would be quite out of line. As it is, I'll still come back because of the quality of the food. However, I can't say that there haven't been more than a few times that we just didn't want to spend over $100 on carry out for 4 people. More...
Went for the lunch specials. I enjoy ordering from a menu rather than buffers for this cuisine because I can alter the spice as preferred. The options were perfect. The portions are just right and very filling. The sweet touch of dessert at the end is spot on. Service was very friendly and I felt very comfortable . Would definitely return! More...
This place is absolutely amazing! Parking situation isn't the best, and the location is small, but all that pales in comparison to the top notch quality dishes these guys are cranking out and the amazing spices they boast! They have a lunch special that I believe is either from 11am-3pm or 4pm --- for $11.99 you are getting one heck of a deal! You get Naan, veggie dish of the day, chick pea dish (I believe it's called daal?), a main dish with your choice of veggie, fish, chicken or lamb, and even a desert!!! WOW! I now love both the NYC version, and happy that I have the jersey location close to my house ---- can't get their Tika Masala out of my mind... SooOoooOoo good!!!!!! More...
Lunch specials give you tonsss of food! Main dish, sides, rice, naan, and rice pudding dessert! Their masala curry is to die for! ! Slightly sweet and not spicy. Perfect balance of spices. Best with paneer or chicken but they offer a ton of other protein options!! Service is always excellent and everyone is so friendly! The chef has even come out multiple times to ask how our meal was! Great place!! More...
This is the only Indian restaurant that we go to in Montclair. Terrific food and really nice service.
Brick Lane is a small restaurant on a corner. There isn't much seating but I've been here three times now and never had to wait. The service is great and all the staff members are super nice. Plus the food is amazing. Dishes:Samosa chaat - super flavorful and the dough is crispy. Portion is large enough to be split among 2-3 people. Pakora paneer - not my favorite, but decent. It's thing sliced paneer that is breaded and fried. Saag paneer - amazing! The paneer is semi firm and the spinach is not super oily. Also the spices are fragrant and not overpowering. Lamb biryani - pretty good and I don't like many biryanis. It had some parts of the rice were cooked to perfection but overall the dish was tasty. The lamb also was cooked to the point it would pull apart with a fork! Portion is large enough to be full even without an appetizer. I will definitely be coming back! More...
Tasty experience and attentive staff. We got the meat platter and prawns as appetizers, and for the entrees, we got daal, chicken tikka masala, different types of naan, and rice. All in all, I enjoyed the meal. My only real qualm is the pricing. It's too expensive there! My prawns were like $27 but they only gave 5-6 pieces. Other than that, It's BYOB, which is fine. We brought our own wine and enjoyed. More...
YUM! The lunch special is ridiculously delicious. This is my first time having Indian food, and I'm so glad I did. They offer a large range of food to choose from, and adapt to what you want. They are extremely quick too. Brick Lane is cute and perfect for date night! More...
I order takeout from this place all the time and it is amazing! The Tikka Masala is the best in the area and the biryani is always good too. I am a little annoyed at all the reviews complaining about the prices. Take a minute and google your go-to order. Take a look at how many freaking ingredients are in your favorite curry before complaining how much it costs! I think people have a ridiculous expectation for Indian food to be super cheap when in fact it is time-consuming to make and there are a TON of ingredients!Well, this is bordering on a rant. The food here is excellent, go for it. The end! More...
I've tried Indian food very little times in my life, so this may not be saying much but...Brick Lane is the best Indian food I've ever had! It's super cute and romantic inside, great for a byob date night! My boyfriend and I shared the Chana Masala, Daal Makhani and a side of naan. The Daal Makhani was by far the better dish, I'd order two of those next time! The naan didn't disappoint. Luckily we were sat immediately, but a crowd developed while we were eating. There's no waiting area, which is a bit annoying. We were sat closest to the door so began to felt really crowded. Other than that, it was good experience. While I don't typically crave Indian, I'd definitely stop here next time I am. More...
My girlfriend was feeling daring one night (she never really has Indian food and doesn't generally enjoy spicy things) so we decided to eat some Indian food, of which I am a huge fan of. We decided on Brick Lane. I was lucky enough to try brick lane curry house at their now closed location in ridgewood and I was pleasantly surprised to find out they were also in Montclair. It had been ages since I had gone to eat there, so trying the Montclair location was like trying the restaurant for the first time again. We ordered the Chana masala dish and the dal mahkni with a side of naan. The food was absolutely delicious! The Chana masala was a bit spicy for my girlfriend, so if you are someone who isn't into spicy things, make sure you let them know beforehand as they do add a bit of a kick in their dishes. Overall a great experience and I really can't wait to go back here! More...
A big fan of lunch specials. They have multiple locations in NJ and NY. Known for their very spicy curries. Always visited this place while I'm in Montclair.
The best Indian food in New Jersey. This is my favorite place for chicken tikka masala.... I won't eat it anywhere else!
Finally a good Indian restaurant in the somewhat nearby area! My husband and I tried this place out and had a great meal! We started with the samosas (one meat and one potato) as well as the fried cauliflower and both were delicious . As our main dishes my husband got a chicken dish which he loved and I got the lamb biryani which was very good. We also shared some garlic naan! Two thumbs up, we will be back! Service was very pleasant and attentive as well! More...
Tasty, delicious. On the high-end of the two $$ range.
I was so excited to find out that there is a brick lane in Montclair. Amazing food and excellent service!
Love this restaurant so much. They have the best vindaloo I've ever had. They also do a phal curry challenge which the man verse food filmed at there N. Y. location. So of course I had to get the first time I ever went there because I'm a spicy food lover. I was the first woman to comeplete it in this location. I've been going there for about 5 years now and every time I go I try different stuff and it's always delicious. I recommend them to alot people no one has been disappointed. They have a lot of vegetarian options so every time I go I have lots to choose from. The staff is very friendly and the ones that were there when I did the phal curry challenge remember me every time I go in. The only thing is sometimes there is a wait to get a table but it is definitely worth the wait. They also do pick up! More...
Came for lunch with the boyfriend. We were blown away at how amazing the food was! We came at lunch time and got the lunch special which includes a curry, rice, naan and desert. For 12 bucks we were both stuffed! I got the chicken tikka masala which was delicious and had the right amount of heat for me. Spicy with some burn but not sweating my butt off. The rice is your typical basmati rice. The naan is thin and crispy, perfect for picking up all the sauce and rice and chicken. The boy got the lamb Goan and holy coconut batman! Delicious and vinegary and coconut-y. The lamb was tender and delicious. They also served a side dish of green beans and potatoes along the lines of a korma taste, and a side of peeli daal. For dessert they gave us rice pudding. Cinnamon, sweet milk and cardamom dominated the pudding and it was AMAZING. To go box a must. The atmosphere is casually hip and the server prompt but not overbearing and very nice. Priced at 11.99 for the lunch special, I'll happily be coming back. Top notch food. More...
This place is fantastic!! I basically licked my bowl of chicken tikka Marsala clean. Best naan bread I've ever had, hands down. Huge lunch portions, very good deal! More...

Excellent food. Friendly and honest staff. Yum
Delicious and fresh food, caring service, clean and comforting atmosphere. Our new friend Pujan even lent us an iphone charger. A great and relaxing dinner! We shall return :) More...
Best Indian in Nj!!!!!! My friends and I love it so much
Now offering lunch buffet.
Had the lunch buffet my first time there. It was amazing!!! EVERYTHING was delicious. Super reasonable prices.
First off, I'd like to make it clear that I've never tried Indian food before so I have nothing to compare it to nor would I be able to judge is authenticity. .. That being said, I absolutely love this spot. It's rather small, but there's still adequate enough space between tables to feel comfortable. The dining room is dimly lit and provides for a very relaxed and intimate dining experience. A good setting to take a girl out on a date or meet up with a few friends for a nice dinner. The service was great with my server being very attentive and not being bothered by my obvious cluelessness as to what curry is and what comes with each meal. I ordered a Methi Salmon dish which came with white rice, a curry sauce, and naan (which is a toss of bread). The Salmon was amazing! Cooked to perfection and came served on a sizzler. The naan and curry were also excellent and a perfect compliment to my fish and the white rice was freaking awesome (I'm the type of guy that can eat white rice by itself, so trust me it's good). Overall I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of my visit here and can definitely recommend anyone curious about Indian food to come here... More...
Best Indian food in this area, never a bad experience
Quality of food is good. The restaurant is not too spacious but its understandable since its in the main avenue of Montclair. People are very polite. Had a great food! More...

While the service is very friendly, it is not exceptionally attentive. Everything that I've eaten there is really delicious though. The korma sauce is creamy and flavorful. The waiter was very accommodating and even brought us extra sauce for dipping our Naan. More...
Very good, cooked to order authentic Indian. A must when in Montclair.
Great food and really good service
Fantastic food and service!!

Been here many times. It is always really good, even if it's not the cheapest option out there. The curries are great and the meats from the tandoor are delicious. If you want to try more things at once, order a sizzling meat dish from the tandoor and pay the extra $5 for a small bowl of curry, rice, and naan to go with it. Their vindaloo has some great spice. Next time I'll have to try the super hot "phal" curry and see if I live to tell the tale. ;) More...
Nice and cozy place. Food is delicious. Much better than Indian restaurants around the are.

The food is really good and the price is reasonable, especially getting the lunch special.
Went for first time for lunch with some co-workers. Really enjoyed my meal. Food had great flavor. Place is very clean and service was nice. Will return again soon.
My first visit to Brick Lane, it was soooo delicious! The staff was gracious and friendly even though it was busy. We enjoyed the suggested dishes and were so full there wasn't any room for dessert. I am looking forward to going back again . More...

Great tasting Indian food however the portions are too small and overpriced
Best Indian around. The Goan Curry is amazing. The atmosphere is a little bland, but it's on a calm corner and the staff it's wonderful.
Definitely worth a revisit
Best Indian food I've had in the area, and better than most I've had in NYC. Definitely quality ingredients. Expensive, yes, but worth it IMHO.
Came here 2 weeks ago and forgot to post a review. My fiance and I had a wonderful night and it was a perfect place for a Friday night date. The restaurant is small however it was super cozy, clean and comfortable. All of their servers were beyond helpful and never once felt rushed or like we were inconveniencing them with a question. The food was good. I have had better Indian food before but this was by far the nicest environment for sit down Indian cuisine I have ever been. Sometimes Indian restaurants can feel more like takeout places then restaurants and this was not the case here. Next time we are eating Indian food out Brick Lane will be a no brainer!!Tip: on a Friday night we parked across the street in the bank parking lot with no issue, plus you can see the lot from the restaurant. Came here a few months ago for dinner when we were in the area. Now that I've finally decided to participate in yelping I'm so happy to leave this review! The owner seated us and asked if we had any experience with the cuisine which we had not, he took the time to go over the general items on the menu and explained further anything we seemed interested in. It was my first time eating Indian cuisine and I was so thrilled by it! The flavors were absolutely amazing. Will definitely be back to this place for another date night! More...
Went for Daily Lunch SpecialFood - 5/5. The madras sauce is strong and delicious. It goes really well with the prawns and all the other food items. Although described as "medium to hot", it really isn't that spicy so those with low spice tolerance shouldn't shy away from it. The naan and rice were fluffy, the prawn had a good bite and the tofu was solid. Rice pudding gave a sweet and cool finish.Service - 2/5. The waiter was constantly in the back kitchen helping with prep work which is not a bad thing but he seemed really distracted. He never came around and I had to go to the back to ask for my check. The dessert section of the lunch special was forgotten until mentioned. The restaurant seems to not have any form of air conditioning or it was purposely left off. Makes you feel a bit less valued when that happens to you.Value - 4/5. The lunch special gives a large variety for $12 and the food tastes really good. The portions are a bit small though with only three regular sized shrimps being offered. Although I understand pricing, getting only three pieces makes you feel a bit sad.Parking - Street (Metered) More...

One of the really good indian food in the area. Love the tandoori chicken, saag paneer.
Holy crap flavor of every dish was amazing. I was stuffed and wish I could have ate more. We got the samosa, meat sizzle and shrimp moolie! !!! All of it was amazing but my favorite dish from all of them was the shrimp moolie. Can't wait to come back. More...
Wanted to try a different Indian restaurant and definitely it was worth it!! Great food and service and friendly staff.
Good food and Different kind of taste.Place looks too small but ambience is good.We tried veggie food ,which turned out to be great
Food was good. Initial waiter was good but the other waiter was rude. I felt rushed after he took over our table. Lunch portions are small.
Listen here, I came in at 10:50 haven't eaten all day and found this place with a guy in front closing up shop. I parked and went up to him and asked if he was still open. He unlocked the door, let me in and gave me exceptional service. I haven't taken a bite of their food yet, but if it's like anything like they treat customers than it has to be great. More...
It took a damn winter storm to finally get me in to this place. I always had it in the back of my mind to try Brick Lane, but for one reason or another it never seemed to materialize. But because every Indian restaurant seemed to be closed after winter storm Stella, my friend and I decided that this would be a nice place to keep up the tradition of going out after a blast of old-man winter. It's just our thing!Walking in to the restaurant we were the only two people dining for the evening. That wasn't a surprise of course and it made it even more intimate and dare I say romantic. The atmosphere, with its warm glow and elegant décor, is surely a hit for individuals that want a smaller, laid back destination to take their special someone. The food of course is why people keep coming back and I have to say that Brick Lane does not disappoint. My friend and I ordered an appetizer of vegetable pakoras--a mixed bag of vegetables fried with chickpea batter. The fritters were fried perfectly and more importantly was not so greasy that it would slip off your fingers like in other restaurants. For entrée we shared the vegetable korma and matar paneer with the quintessential garlic naan to soak up all that delicious sauce. The korma curry, with its delicate balance of almond gravy and saffron, was the perfect curry to warm the body and soul on such a wintery evening. The matar paneer lived up to my expectations with its creamy tomato and onion sauce. The evening couldn't have gone any better. I'm glad that my friend and I went out to keep the tradition alive. Winter storm, or not, nothing ever stops us from finding a good meal and good times. More...
Out of my experiences with Indian cuisine, Brick Lane Curry House is the most friendliest menu for most amateur diners for Indian food. The menu is very straight forward with their prompt 'heat rating' for the newcomers as I was, but the quality of food is out of this world. The service is very attentive to what you want/need and it's BYOB -- can't go wrong with that! More...
Great place for authentic Indian food. Lamb goan & garlic naan were amazing. Service & atmosphere were perfect. Would definitely recommend!
Brick Lane is the neighborhood Indian spot most neighborhoods can only dream of. It's a tiny place, but it feels cozy instead of cramped, in large part because of the clean, breezy decor and abundant natural light - a far cry from the heavy tablecloths and musty tapestries most small Indian restaurants still cling to. And the food is great. The menu manages to be both wide-ranging and concise, with options to satisfy most palates. It's nothing ground-breaking, and neither particularly regional nor perfectly authentic, but it always hits the spot. More...
Always fantastic, we go as often as possible. Very friendly
Amazing Indian food, super friendly service, cute atmosphere. We live close by and we're here about once a month. The tiki masala and the jalfrezi are my favorites.Definitely a great spot!
I've dined at this location a few times and can honestly say that Brick Lane is one of the highest quality Indian restaurants in North Jersey. The ambiance and service is also excellent. The one major downside is that the venue is extremely small with very limited seating. They also don't take reservations so I wouldn't recommend going here on weekends without checking the wait time first! More...
A party of four at Brick Lane, a wide array of menu options, friendly service and the option of BYOB. A bit difficult to find parking in this area but once you're in you're committed. The order of the middle menu items are listed from mildest to hottest. My favorite on the menu was the salmon, it comes out on a sizzling hot plate with vegetables. The salmon is grilled perfectly and you can choose your own accompaniments. The prices seem slightly pricey but it's Montclair, kind of expected. More...

Delicious! This is my favorite Indian place in the area. The lunch special (which goes until 4pm) gives you a lot of food for only $12. The food is good quality and the service is great. My only issue is that I probably wouldn't come here at night because of the higher dinner prices. More...
High quality Indian food, good service. Great that it's BYOB. Good for a date night if you're looking to try new and exotic food!
Had the Sunday afternoon buffet and also a side order of tandoori chicken. Everything was fresh and delicious. The waiter explained what was in all the the dishes since this was my first time having Indian cuisine. The price was very very reasonable also. You need to try this place. More...

Really good Indian food, not too spicy. They have a new lunch buffet till 4 PM, 8 different food+rice pudding and chai latte. 14.95$/person.
Really delicious Indian restaurant in Montclair! I've always had really good experiences at Brick Lane: the food is yummy, the waiters are friendly, and it is never too crowded (and it is BYOB so that's always a serious plus! ). My favorite dishes are the butter masala, the chicken tika masala, the samosa chaat, the shrimp goan, and of course the garlic naan. All of these dishes are very flavorful and are all wonderful in their own way. My only real issue with Brick Lane is the price. You wind up spending a lot more money than a casual dinner here since the entrees are more than $20 each (but it is BYOB so you save the money on alcohol). HOWEVER, they have really really awesome lunch specials (even on weekends) that are very affordable and delicious! The lunch specials are $11.99 and come with a main course, the veggie of the day, rice, naan, and a little rice pudding. They don't have all of their entrees for the lunch special but they have about 6 different curries (the tika masala and the goan are both on there along with a few others choices). While the portions of the lunch main course are smaller than what you would get for dinner, it is also A LOT cheaper so I'm fine with that! Plus, with the veggie side, the rice, and the naan I'm usually beyond stuffed when I leave. I highly recommend checking out Brick Lane. If you're on a budget, go for lunch so you can get the same yummy food for much cheaper!Food -- 5 starsPrice -- 2 stars (5 stars for lunch)Service -- 4.5 starsAtmosphere -- 4 stars More...
We ordered chicken tikka masala and chicken kabab. Both were delicious. I would go there again.
Just enough heat, a few beads of sweat on the brow.
best indian food in new jersey!

My go-to Indian place. The lunch menu here is unique to this location (the one in Ridgewood doesn't do the same lunch menu). You get curry, rice, naan, lentils, and rice pudding all for $12. Go here for lunch and you will not be disappointed!
Very simple and straightforward lunch menu options, and a great deal for the takeout box. You get a large serving of rice, curry, a side and dessert (such as rice pudding) for a decent flat price no matter what style of curry of meat you choose, and the naan here is really good. Wish there was lunch delivery, I would order a lot more often! More...
Delicious British-style curry. I go here whenever I can!
We love Brick Lane, a great deal for their lunch menu, pricier at night, but always delicious! We love the different sauces - the Korba with paneer is my fave - and the naan is soft and tasty. The sides are great to taste, try the cauliflower and samosas! More...
Amazing Indian food! We came with the whole family and loved every dish both the vegetarian and the meat dishes. This is definitely one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been to. Four of us ordered two curries, two naans, pashwari kulcha, and the fried cauliflower. Everything was very delicious, especially the chicken jalfrezi curry and kulcha. It is pricier than most Indian I've eaten, but the quality and flavor of the food is mostly worth it. The only thing they could do better is add a couple more pieces of chicken in the curries. We got the food to go and the food was well packaged and still warm once I got home. I look forward to eating at the restaurant, the spice aromatics in the air is hypnotizing. More...

Glad to see Brick Lane is in New Jersey, I was a regular at the Brick Lane in the lower East Side NYC. The Brick Lane in Montclair is a great spot for lunch. The lunch specials are affordable. Included is rice, vegetable of the day, Dhal, Nan and dessert all for under 12 dollars, a great deal and it is BYOB. The food is very tasty and medium spicy unless you ask for extra spicy. The service is very good. The regular menu is a little pricy in my opinion. I ordered the vegetable samosa as an appetizer it was 9 dollars and I think that is a bit much, for what you get. Again I love the food and I would recommend it for lunch, definitely will be back. More...
Tikka Masala was very good. Loved the extras that came with the lunch specials- it was a good deal for all the food we ate. Daal was really delicious, also. Came here for lunch on Thursday and ordered from the $11.99 lunch menu. The deal includes an entree (I chose Chicken Tikka Masala), 2 side dishes (lentils, potatoes), rice, naan and dessert (rice pudding). I thought it was a great deal for the price for the amount of food given. The highlight of the meal was the naan - it was soft in the inside with crispy, charred skin on the outside. The chicken tikka masala was good, but not extraordinary. Service was a little slow, but the amount of food made up for it. More...
