I love Southern cooking and BBQ.  Each region has its own take when it comes to BBQ and wanted to try some East Carolina que when in town.  Big Mike represents the Carolina que well.  I had the burnt ends and pork.  Both were good.  Sides were also solid (I had the greens and Mac and cheese).  Just a warning for those who like BBQ from Memphis, Kansas City or St. Louis, Carolina que is different and more vinegar and less sweet.  An added bonus, if a BBQ joint doesn't have a pig on their sign, beware (just joking, some of my favorites don't) but Big Mikes does. Ok, I've eaten here twice in the past two days. That's gotta say something. When I arrived on my first visit, I asked (as I normally do) "what's good"? My request was met with a common reply. "Everything!"  I have to say, usually that reply is sometimes just "the easy thing to say".  Today this was not the case. I ended up ordering (with much help) what worked out to be a sampler of sorts. I will say that over the two visits that "Everything IS truly good!!!". I expect to start seeing unicorns and rainbows shortly. This is a definitely don't miss stop in the world of BBQ!!! More...

Had smoked chicken wings and half a rack of ribs with kale slaw and Gouda cheese Mac n cheese. Chicken wings had a nice dry rub to it (sweet and peppery). The ribs were good and moist. Cheese was broken on the Mac and cheese sauce and the slaw was tangy and okay. It was more of a mini kale salad. The reason for the 4 star is because the smoke in the wings were not obvious and very feint. Prices were fair and they had a nice local beer selection which is a plus. More...

We had a fun lunch here. I would've given this a 5 star but the Mac and cheese was just awful. Noodles were waaaay overdone and mushy. That said, the meat was amazing ribs were awesome. BBQ pork was delish. Corn bread was just ok (a little dry) but the meat.....to die for. Great service and a fun place. We'd go again!!! More...

My wife and I ate here for the first time today. We found the pork bbq to be very flavorful and the sauces were excellent. The brisket was good albeit a little dry. I'm giving it 5 stars, but...a small but. Overall, almost everything was outstanding. The one thing that I think missed the mark was the wings. Mine were good. However, when I saw what the folks at the next table got for theirs, I think mine were a bit too overdone. Theirs were juicy and had both parts of the wing. So, not perfect, but not that big of a thing and everything else was out of this world delicious. Next time I'm there on business, I'll go out if my way to return. More...

The food is incredible! It's rare I can go somewhere and want everything on the menu. Excellent ingredients! The service was also STELLAR. From answering questions on the menu, offering a sample, and checking on drinks with a smile, one couldn't ask for a better server. Our meal ended near closing time and the staff was welcoming even then! Our family had been at a hospice center all day, and dining at Brew N Que was definitely a silver lining in the day. Big E stopped by for a second go round.. got the half chicken ,  quarter pound pulled pork, the baked potato salad and the blue cheese cold slaw. The chicken was cooked perfectly but tasted more baked than smoked I prefer and the chopped pork was a  good mix with bark scattered in and was moist and tasted good without sauce but is definitely enhanced with some sauce. The baked potato salad was as good as my first trip and is truly addictive and the blue cheese cold slaw was fresh crisp and very good.  While I  would put them in my top twenty bbq joints  they do everything well  the real standout is the baked potato salad . If you are up for beer and BbQ this is definitely worth a stop. More...

Love this place. Fantastic but non traditional wings We've probably had all the menu items by this point and rarely a disappointment.   The only drawback used to be the very limited seating - too many times our dinner plans were "Brew n Que, but if there are no tables, what's our backup?"Not an issue any more.  Restaurant has expanded into the adjoining space so there's plenty of space.  It looks like the menu is expanding as well.  Several new "coming soon" items on the menu last night. Oh, and they have lots of great local beer on tap.  Did I mention the wings, because they're ridiculous. More...

I love this place! Their redneck nachos are amaaaazing! Blue cheese cole slaw and damn good bbq. Also had a Mac n cheese burger there once, not sure of the name, it was huge and delicious. I shared with two others and was still completely stuffed when I was done. Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the food can sometimes be soggy. Delicious. Only complaint would be that I wish they gave you a knife. I had the brisket with sides of Mac and cheese and collards. BF had ribs and sides of blue cheese coleslaw and baked beans. The brisket had a really great flavor, not overly smoky, but good, definitely not tender enough to cut with a fork which is where the knife woulda come in real handy. Collards were phenomenal. Super tender and seasoned perfectly. The Mac and cheese was alright. Real cheese which was appreciated but grainy, lacking in flavor and over cooked pasta. Ribs were great. Really juicy and smoked perfectly. Slaw was delicious. Baked beans were a little sweet for me personally but that may just be me. The star of the meal were the sauces. The sweet and tangy and N.C. sauces were absolutely phenomenal. So much so we bought some to bring home with us. Would absolutely recommend. More...

We really enjoyed the BBQ at Brew N Que. We ordered three meats (brisket, smoked chicken, smoked pork) and three sides (collards, mac n cheese, smoked potato salad). The sides were all excellent; the mac n cheese was very creamy, the collards were flavorful, and the potatoes were covered in cheese (which I love). We also enjoyed the meats, although I wish they were a bit more tender. They offered a vinegar based sauce and a sweet sauce. We preferred the latter, but perhaps that's because I'm not a true Carolinian ;)This spot also has a ton of local craft brews to try. We didn't have time, but would definitely partake next visit. The staff was very friendly, and the space was inviting.Overall, not the best barbecue I had in North Carolina, but definitely tasty! The environment is worth the trip alone. More...

We ordered ribs, chicken wings and brisket with burnt ends. Ribs are juicy and tender, chicken wings are awesome (the best I've had so far) and briskets are good too. When we said we didn't eat cheese, the server happily took back the potato salad which had cheese in it and changed it for us. And he also gave us a corn bread for free. Will come again when we are in the area. The only complaint is that they seem to be understaffed, so service took a little long. More...

Truly a hidden gem in Cary! We love coming here. I'm not sure what most of these strange reviews are about. Take your time here, enjoy the company, sample the beers, talk with the owner. It's so cool and with the addition of the bottle shop, even more stuff to check out. The food is also great, the best BBQ place in Cary! For those that dont like BBQ there's also veggies and chicken. The dry rub chicken is on point and the mac n cheese is the best. On occasion there will be ribs and those are really good too. There's also a burger but I never had it because the BBQ is the thing to get!At the table they have tomato and vinegar based sauces, what more do you need? Nothing! To the owner(s): I'm taking off 1 star to get your attention: please please pretty please - give us hush puppies instead of cornbread? To the yelpers: I came for the pork but left with memories of chicken wings dancing in my head. Lunch mate ordered the wings and I had to try 1 - Those wings are literally the best chicken wing I've ever had. The que was outstanding too. Real smoked pig with real smoked flavor and giving me real eastern NC sauce made the day. Was a little disappointed that I missed burnt end day but  awesome to know if I go on the right day and get there early enough I can get them. They also had some  thicker sauce available if your into that sort of thing was nice for those who need/want it.Also ordered the collards, I swear I could eat a tub of those collards...so so delicious.Service was great, very attentive considering there was 1 server working the floor at a very busy lunch time. I and for lunch.   So didn't drink.  I order meat.  Lots of meat.  Wings. Brisket and ribs.  They were all amazing.  Then wings are smoked and deep fried.  They are awesome.  The brisket I think I got the very end of one and my coworker got the next.  Both were good mine was just a bit dry but his was super fresh and moist and awesomeDidn't really use much sauce.   They have a selection of them.  Will go again. Got takeout here with the family. Excellent smoked brisket - the six of us inhaled 3 pounds! Texas style with a solid bark. This didn't leave as much room for baked beans, Mac and cheese, slaw, and savory corn bread, but leftovers are good too. I love BBQ in general, but as someone who is partial to brisket, sometimes its hard to find a place that does it justice.  I do love the brisket at Brew N Que, but if I am being honest, that isn't what keeps me coming back for more.  One thing that I think a lot of joints slack on is sides.  Sure there are standard sides, but I want something a bit more sometimes.  That however, isn't the case at Brew N Que.  They knock sides out of the park...like way out of the park.  Have you and your husband ever fought over the last bite of kale slaw? Words I never thought would come out of my mouth, but yes that actually happened because their kale slow is so darn good.  Equally delicious, but a whole different ball game is their smoke potato salad.  I have never in my entire life encountered a potato salad at a restaurant that I have liked. Not even once.  The potato salad here however, life altering-ly good. The place itself has a great atmosphere and tons of beer if you are a beer drinker.  Do yourself a favor, eat outside the box and get some new sides with your BBQ at Brew N Que.  You can thank me later. Great flavor in the BBQ, excellent selection of local beer, and super friendly staff (Ian in particular seemed very passionate about his job).  The Big Cheesy is an epic sandwich, but definitely feel free to split it with someone.  The BBQ egg rolls were outstanding and the chow chow on top really brought some much needed acidity to the dish.  Good flavor on the bbq chicken, but it ate a little dry, so I recommend sticking with the pork.My only complaint would be that my server bussed my beer before I had finished it, but I'd still go back even if I had to keep a watchful eye on my beverage. My wife and I tried this awesome little joint last night for the first time! It definitely won't be the last! While we waited to be seated, we checked out the great selection of craft beers in their bottle shop! The beer shop was well organized and we saw plenty we wanted to try. We also had a couple of excellent Craft draught beers while we waited. Once seated, our server, Eli was very friendly and knowledgeable. My wife got a chopped barbecue platter with the blue cheese slaw and cornbread. The Q was the best we've ever had. Tender and moist, with a rough chop that allowed you to see and taste the smoke! The sauces were simple but perfectly made. The Eastern NC style vinegar based sauce was a great compliment to the smokey meat and the spicy sweet tomato based sauce was fantastic! The slaw and cornbread were also top notch!       I ordered a sandwich that was outrageous! Basically it was 3 sandwiches in one. Two mac and cheese sandwiches with a hearty helping of smoked chicken and pickles in between them! I almost dislocated my jaw trying to get this monster in my mouth! The sandwich was amazing even if I did eventually have to use a knife and fork! I also got the smoked potato salad and it was beyond flavorful! My only complaint of the evening was that they were out of brisket, but that is simply a testament to how good it is! We will definitely get there earlier next time! My wife put it perfectly when she said that this funky little joint has ruined all other barbecue for us! We will definitely become regulars! More...

I ate here on a Tuesday night with two other people for dinner. These are my thoughts and observations.- It's a hole in the wall. The exterior is kinda ghetto, but don't let it put you off.- It's a tiny restaurant. There's maybe 10 tables and bar seating. I wouldn't recommend it for large parties.- Our waiter was knowledgeable about their selections and kept our drinks full.- We waited 10 minutes for our order.- The BBQ is superb and the sauces really take the meat to the next level. My mac and cheese was on point.Overall, Brew N Que has some of the best BBQ I've eaten and I'd highly recommend it for small parties. More...

Stopped in here for lunch today and I'm glad that we decided to try it out. We arrived around 11:30am and found ample seating (even though there are only about 5 tables in the place). We were greeted warmly and I believe the owner was actually the one that took care of us. He was very friendly and took some time to explain the sauces and the honey butter on the table for the cornbread. I chose the sliced brisket platter with a side of baked beans and the aforementioned cornbread. The brisket was good overall... nice flavor and deep smoke ring but it was a touch (and I mean just slightly) on the dry side. This was easily remedied with the vinegar dip and some western bbq sauce. It had a good fat cap and had been rendered well. The cornbread was pretty good and the butter stood up well to the dense nature of the bread. I will say that the beans seemed slightly undercooked to me (they were more toothy/al dente than I am accustomed to) but the overall flavor was good. I was certainly satisfied with the meal and understand why they have a great rating here on Yelp. I would definitely go back again! More...

This place is the BOMB.COM. Think micro beer shop and BBQ merged into a  tiny shop of goodness. I am a self-proclaimed BBQ & Mac n cheese connoisseur. Being from Wilson, NC, BBQ had to be done right for me to enjoy. Let me tell you, Brew n que did not disappoint.I had the pulled pork BBQ platter with Mac n cheese and my husband got the brisket platter with potato salad. Both came with corn bread. We ate everything.Pulled pork- not a skimpy portion, it was filling and hearty and their vinegar sauce complimented it very well.Mac n cheese- I didn't really like it. Only thing that keeps me from giving me this place a 5.Corn bread- crumbly and so good.Brisket- My husband said, and I quote "it was the best brisket ever". I tried it and don't disagree. Very generous portion. Brisket had a perfect pink smoke ring along the inside of a well-charred crust. Wonderful smoked flavor throughout. Potato salad- this is the real star of the sides at this place. The potatoes are literally cubed and are sooooo cheesy. As soon as this went in my mouth the flavor exploded and it melted in my mouth. I cannot describe how good it was. Please try. Highly recommend! The brew selection is on point! More...

Husband and I have had this place bookmarked for a while so I was stoked when he decided he didn't mind driving from North Durham to Cary after work this past Friday. The place is smaller than I expected, with two picnic tables in the back as well as a few small tables and bar seating. My guess is that they can seat about 20-25 people total in the restaurant at a time. We were warmly greeted as soon as we entered and were told the wait may be about 25 minutes. We only waited about 15 minutes for an open table, which wasn't bad at all for a Friday night, and we enjoyed looking at the shelves of beer while we waited. I don't drink, but my husband was really happy with the tap selection. And we liked that they are listed above the bar and also on a screen in the back portion of the dining room. They also have two small fridges in the front of the restaurant, so you're bound to find something you like if you're a beer drinker. We ordered a pork sandwich with regular slaw, a brisket sandwich with blue cheese slaw, mac and cheese, and smoked potato salad. The pork was perfectly moist and I really liked it paired with a mixture of their vinegar and sweet bbq sauces. The buns were light and fluffy without falling apart. My husband is from Texas and he thought the brisket was a little tough but he really enjoyed the tangy flavor of the blue cheese slaw it was paired with. The mac and cheese was pretty bland and a bit too mushy for me, but he really liked it. We both LOVED the smoked potato salad and would come back just for that! The service we received was fantastic and, overall, the food was pretty tasty! We look forward to coming back and trying more items on the menu. More...

The guys are all over it! Great service. The wings are, hands down, the best I have EVER had....EVER. Do not miss the opportunity to try them. The BBQ sauce is extremely good vinegar sauce. And loved that my husband and I were able to spit a platter. It was the perfect portion, although I think I are most of the burnt ends before hubby had a chance to get to them. We came here on a Thursday night because we were craving some meat based food -- what better food is there than bbq? My friend has been here before and highly recommend the egg rolls. At first I didn't think the egg rolls would be so special, but when I had them, it was amazing!! Definitely a must try! Also, they come in huge portion. Then we ordered a full rack of ribs to share. It was really good too. Probably will come back when I crave some bbq in the future.------------------------------UPDATE:I did come back for more bbq. I actually ok my mom here on a Saturday night after a long day of hiking. I was quite excited to introduce to her this amazing bbq place with amazing egg roll. However, the egg roll was burned this time and not as good as I had last time. And my mom really didn't like the beef brisket we ordered. It turned out the first piece she had was really hard to chew (the other two pieces were fine). Might not come back in the future. More...

Great barbeque and beer selection served by an awesome staff. They're quick with recommendations and suggestions. The brisket is as good as you'll find this side of Texas and their baby back ribs (special tonight) are no joke either. Don't overlook the sides to compliment your meal the smoked potato salad is amazing. In one word ..... yummy!Came back July 5th while in town for business ...... still awesome More...

Visited this location specifically based on reviews. Had previously tried The Pit but this place really nailed it with the food. I ordered take out since we had the dog, leaving a tip with the order. Since the tables outside cleared I had asked if we could just bring the meal outside and eat. With a positive response we waited outside; we were not offered any water or beverages. I can understand that the order was take out but we ended up eating there anyways, which was known to the servers and I think I had expected more with the tip that I had already left. This part I can overlook as it is more of personal expectations. When we got our order it was actually the wrong one. I had to go in to clarify and our correct order was brought out promptly. I took a star off for the incorrect order and the service we had received despite ordering take out. When it came to the food, it was absolutely DELICIOUS.  Comparable to bbq I've had in Texas. Pulled pork is not our favorite in general, but the brisket, and mostly the burnt ends (special of the day) really exceeded our expectations. In addition we had some subpar mac and cheese and a phenomenal roasted potato salad. This will definitely be the go to for bbq during our stay in North Carolina. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others. More...

I love Brew N Que, and I'm a vegetarian, so that's really saying something! They have plenty of tasty vegetarian sides, and a vegetarian sandwich. My favorite sides are the cheesy red potatoes, mac and cheese, and blue cheese slaw. Their veggie platter also comes with cornbread, which makes for a hearty, filling meal. My one complaint is that the cornbread can be hit or miss - I've had it when it is moist, delicious perfection, but also have had it be dry and crusty on a few occasions. I hope they're able to achieve more consistent quality with their cornbread, because the food, the service, and the beer are all great. Try it out, you won't be disappointed! More...

The brisket at this place is seriously so delicious! Service was really prompt and friendly! Seating is a bit tight so may be hard to go with a big group but a few to a table would work! I wasn't a big fan of the bread the brisket sandwich came on, nor was I a fan of the Mac and cheese. The corn bread was pretty good and so was the slaw and potato salad. YOOOOOO! So this is my new favorite spot in Raleigh, perhaps the planet. The collard eggrolls were tasty. The macaroni and cheese... AH-MAZ-ING! It was creamy, perfectly seasoned, prepared by angels, etc... I ordered the big and cheesy (pork between 2 grilled macaroni and cheese sandwiches, but who was I kidding? I couldn't eat all that! By the time I murdered half an eggroll and my Mac n cheese, my tummy could only accept 2-3 bites of my sahnweesh. But those 2-3 bites were delightful! Omg!!! The best bbq in the triangle. I had the pork brisket and smoked potato salad and a side of two individual smoked wings. First of all it is freaking awesome that you can order individual smoked wings for $1.50 each and even select flats or drums. The smoked wings were juicy, flavorful, and crispy a must try. The pork brisket was outstanding with wonderful flavor and juicy. Lastly the smoked potato salad was so good. It is fried red potatoes smothered in sour cream and topped with cheese. FYI not the place if you are on a diet lol. In addition, the service was impeccable we received our food within minutes and the staff were super friendly. It is a bbq shack with a bottle shop. I really thought the Pit was the end all be all for BBQ when I moved to Raleigh, but my coworker recommended Brew N Que and now my mind has changed! The pork spring rolls were delicious, I especially loved the relish on top which I wouldn't have thought to pair with it. I had the ultimate sandwich with pulled pork, Mac n cheese, pimento, pickles & four slices of bread. I thought it was good just hard to fit in one bite! I ended up taking half of it home, and I actually loved it even more as leftovers reheated the next day. The potato salad is a must order, I would come back just for that! They're bbq sauce was AMAZING! Tangy and sweet! In addition, I felt the service was 5 stars and our waiter was so knowledgeable sharing the story of the restaurant, the chef, etc. He was thoughtful enough to let us try the pickles separate from the sandwich, which were very flavorful and interesting.  I also loved the beer selection and the beer wall! Mmm tasty! This time we had the smoked chicken wings and my fiance and I both got the half smoked chicken with a side of smoked potato salad. My fiance absolutely loves they chicken. I think it's not bad, the wings were a wee bit too salty I think. The chicken was tasty though with a good flavor. I've struggled with their potato salad in the past having too much mayo and I've discovered that's an easy fix since they don't completely premix it! I can ask for just a little bit of mayo and then it turns out great. The new cornbread was ok. A bit dry and not as sweet as I expect cornbread to be but the honey that it comes with is quite tasty. I kind of preferred the old bread they used to have but it's not bad. I do kind of feel like they used to have a spicier bbq sauce and now they only have the one that is just sweet no spice. Idk if that's changed or if I just haven't been here in too long but it tastes different to me. I still think my favorite food here is the burnt ends they sometimes have but my fiance is a firm lover of the smoked chicken. Everything is tasty! More...

Incredible NC barbecue at Brew N Que! I've been to almost every barbecue joint in the Triangle area, and Brew N Que definitely stands out above the rest. The food is excellent here, but the enormous craft beer selection must not be ignored. They've got a lot of the local breweries on tap and shelves of bottles and cans to choose from. Can't beat craft beer and good barbecue. Of course I came for the barbecue, and it was some of the best I've had. I had the brisket platter and did half brisket, half burnt ends, which appeared to be only a Saturday special. The brisket had a nice smoke ring, was tender and moist, and paired well with the sweet Memphis sauce. But the star was the burnt ends, wh were out of this world good. The meat was so tender with juicy goodness ozzing out every bite. The bark was packed with flavor, and no sauce needed because it was that good. For my sides, the corn bread with honey butter was good, not dry at all, and the smoked potato salad was amazing. The smoked potatoes were flashed fried and coated in a seasoned mayo and cheese mixture that became melty goodness. Overall, I would highly recommend Brew N Que, and it is definitely one of my top barbecue spots in the Triangle area. More...

Burnt ends get in my mouth. . Straight in my mouth!  Yes, all up in my mouth!   How lucky am I to randomly find this place AND get burnt ends?  Thank you bartender for telling me the special, mind made up!Served on a metal tray with Bleu cheese slaw and a piece of cornbread.  Their sauce is house made and they have a Carolina sauce as well.  I tried the sauces and they are good, but I didn't need them for my spectacular burnt ends!  The rub soaked into the meat and holy moly, I was in heaven.  So tender ( butter knife tender) and juicy!  The slaw was tasty, but needed a bit of salt.  The cornbread was my disappointment  (I had read precious reviews that speak about the amazing honey butter), it was very hard and you could tell it was leftover.. :-(  this really made me sad.I digress, let's get back to my BURNT ENDS.... I only speak the truth when I say, the best I have had! This location is super small with about 3 to 4 picnic syle tables and room for about 10 at their bar.  They only serve craft beer, but their selection is huge.. almost looks like a total wine and more aisle! If I'm ever back in this area, I will be back.  Super happy with the quality of the meat and the service was excellent! Brew N Que just stole the trophy for the enviable "Favorite BBQ Joint in the Triangle". That really is *quite* honorable, considering the competition. What stood out? First and foremost, the service was outstanding. I could not ask for a friendlier, more prompt or accommodating experience. The BBQ was a serious knockout. Luckily, I stumbled upon this inconspicuous gem on a day ribs were on the menu - they are on special certain days of the week and otherwise are not available. Both the ribs and pulled pork had a uniquely, non-overwhelming, robust smoke flavor. Their meat is locally sourced and you can actually take some pasture raised meat home with you. The ribs practically fell off of the rack, served perfectly coated in their house made sweet and tangy/Western NC sauce which was another stand-out. I'm typically a vinegar base/Eastern NC or dry rub person, but their recipe was on sweet-zingy-point. Brew N Que features a large local craft beer selection on tap. Bring your growlers and fill em' up! Their small, cozy space doubles as a craft bottle shop. Not a great space for large groups, but they do cater and offer take out. Another bonus? They have a reward card which I will definitely work to fill up for $11 off and free banana pudding! I absolutely must come back to try the smoked potato salad - I hear it's their signature home made side. More...

Love this place! The first barbecue place I've been in North Carolina. Actually the first restaurant I've been to in North Carolina. The atmosphere is nice and homey. The assortment of beers from the area are enormous so if you're a beer connoisseur you'll like this place a lot. The price of the meals are fair for the amount you get however I'd suggest the pork instead of the pulled chicken since I noticed that the chicken is a bit smaller in portions than the pork unless you opt for the whole chicken then it is worth the money. I love the sides. The corn bread was the right consistency and perfect balance of sweet and savory. The Mac and cheese was an amazing side and really reflects southern hospitality. The green collards were amazing and savory. The potato salad however was odd to me since I was thinking the mayonnaise based type but it was more of cheese and potatoes which I didn't mine but it through me off guard. The hospitality and service were 10/10 amazing. Definitely will come here again when I'm down there. More...

Hands down best place for BBQ in the Triangle and Eastern NC!!! Forget what you see on those cheesy TV shows, this is the real delicious BBQ in NC. The smoked chicken is the best chicken I can remember having in the last 20 years. The BBQ brisket literally melts on your tongue so much so you can taste the freshness of the beef. Eli, Will and Ian know there stuff and you can taste it in every awesome bite. And the pork was beyond any restaurant or pit in anyone I have been and I travel eastern NC for a living daily. Finished off with the softess homemade corn bread and honey butter with the sweet potatoes for dessert. I dont even eat sweets really but the sweet potatoes were so good I ate them like ice cream. I didnt even try any of the amazing selection of beers on tap, but ill be back saturday and every week I can in th7e future. It was so good, my mouth is still watering talking about it. The establishment is very small. They have a bar which can probably seat 8 people and I think they have three tables. Their walls are lined with very unique bottles of beer. But I know what we all want to hear about is the food. They have multiple meat options available. We tried the pork and brisket. The pork was very tender and moist with good flavor; however, the brisket was pretty dry and not very tender. They have multiple different barbecue sauces to choose from, my personal favorite was the vinegar one. Then they also have many different sides to choose from. We tried the collards, smoked potato salad, macaroni, corn bread, and baked beans. By far the crowd favorite was the smoked potato salad. The most disappointing side was the macaroni and cheese. It didn't taste homemade, more like a frozen mac you can buy at a the grocery store. I would definitely give this restaurant another try. Next time I want to come when I can also try a brew. More...

What a amazing place! It was the first time there and I will definitely make it a stop at least once a month. The food was fantastic, I had the brisket and my date had the pork, both were phenomenal. The cornbread was the best I've ever had, same for the collards. The staff was amazing, extremely fun, polite and helpful. And the atmosphere of this place is awesome, definitely something you absolutely have to try.  The only downside was that I arrived too late for burnt ends...my fault, not theirs. More...

Being an admitted foodie snob, especially when it comes to BBQ, it's takes a lot to impress me into a 5 star review. I've visited over 30 BBQ joints in NC and Big Mike's Brew and Que is at the top of the list. Whether you like beef brisket, chopped pork or smoked chicken, each one is great. They also have unique sandwiches and sides as well as a great selection of local craft beer. You won't be disappointed here! More...

Visiting for work and wanted authentic BBQ. Small place with a super nice staff. Beers are a speciality-since I do not drink the menu was my focus. Burnt ends were the special, I ordered a two meat plate, with pulled pork and the suggested side of smoked potato salad. I tried eastern North Carolina sauce, vinegar base really a infused vinegar, very strong. I preferred the western sauce. The meat was perfect, right amount of char and still moist. The smoked potato salad was addictive - roasted potatoes, warm, cheese, and sour cream based. Yummy. I will be back if I'm ever out here again. More...

I lived in Virginia previously, and once I moved down here, I needed to find a good BBQ place! Brew N Que did not disappoint. I've been here twice, and the food was so good. I had a pork BBQ platter with mac and cheese the first time; the second time,  I had the BBQ sandwich. First off, their BBQ was so delicious. It wasn't dry and didn't fall apart. It was moist and fall apart. Then, their BBQ sauce was unbelievably good. I really enjoyed their sweet BBQ sauce! I would buy a bottle of it for my own home. Third, the mac and cheese was SO DELICIOUS. I don't really need to say much else about that. Lastly, their beer selection and the ones on tap are great. The service was great, and they were all very knowledgeable. More...

Wow! The reviews were on point the smoke rules in this spot. Omg my son and I ate well. I'm new to brisket they do it justice plus their sauces give you that twang. I truly could have just eaten wings, collards and macncheese. All its are homemade no microwave quick fix. Service was down home flavor I miss from GA. We even tasted beer which I'm a wine enthusiast but it was smooth I had a stout beer. BTW they are having a BBQ sauce contest. I'll be back. I almost 4got we both got banana pudding with smoked bacon on top to snack tonight yes I really got my eat on:-). Since our first visit we have been back a few times. The service during our first visit was subpar but ever since has been absolutely great (have yet to see the same guy again). The bbq is cooked right, but does seem to vary visit per visit. One thing that stays the same each time is their incredible smoked potato salad. Easily the best potato salad I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Our favorite has become the big cheezy with burnt ends and a side of potato salad. More...

Visiting family and looking for a place to have dinner on a Friday night. Was an easy 5 minute walk from the house to the place. Brother in law said the wings were the go to and they had an amazing rub on them but were definitely over cooked. The table was laughing at the noise of brittle wings being eaten. The wings were the only thing served that was less than perfect. Likely the best brisket ever put in my mouth and the Mac and cheese has a white pepper gravy in it that will make you yearn for more. The waiter was one of the nicest guys ever and really addressed any request in a jiffy. Super small place and was a quick seat on a Friday night. Maybe an off night for the wings but everything else was spot on. Definitely recommend.  As an aside from the food, they have a damn fine bottle selection if you want to kill 2 birds with one stone. My husband and I use to really love this place. (Think 3 times a week dining in) but the prices are getting higher (possibly for a valid reason) and the portion sizes are getting smaller by the day. I really would love to give this place a 3.5 stars. That being said, the food is still much better than anything else in this area. The brisket is the go to. Please don't come here and miss out on the potato salad. It's single handedly responsible for at least one star in this review. Even if you are someone who doesn't do potato salad you would probably love the one here. The wings make for an awesome appetizer if you like them smoky with a dry rub and they'll let you turn them into a plate with sides if you ask. Really the loss of stars here is the price hike and the decrease in portion size because the foods pretty great and the people are pretty great too. More...

The outside of this place almost appears as if it's not open. The glass is dark and there are boxes piled up through the glass, etc. It's in a tiny strip mall near Kroger. I actually hesitated because it just doesn't look like a restaurant. Man, I'm so glad that I went inside. First, their BBQ is pasture raised. Second, I had the best brisket ever. I dreamed about going back today. It's that good. I ordered "just meat", namely brisket and chopped chicken BBQ. The chicken was just ok. My husband does better in that area. I just thought it wasn't smoky or flavored enough and the sauces were mediocre at best. I think I used a bit of the vinegar based sauce for the chicken and left that moist, delicious brisket alone. Bar service was super friendly. Looking forward to going back. More...

The bbq chicken is delicious. I've lost count of my visits here and they've consistently impressed. The atmosphere is small and cozy, so don't try bringing too large a group if you aren't prepared to wait for one of the larger tables. The beer selection is a wall and then some. I'm not much of a beer drinker and I've still found a few I like. Lots of local stuff too.The only issue I've ever had was some inconsistency with the smoked potato salad. Some visits it'd be a heavenly mix of cheese and potatoes, and sometimes it'd be a mayo bomb. I asked about it once and the next time they remembered without me saying a thing and the ratio was perfect. If you haven't eaten here, change that. More...

Small quaint, very cute, nice music playing, you have to forget that Cary does have cute places, from the inside, just have to forget you are in a strip mall... LOLI started with the Vista Point IPA good, not as hoppy as I like, and a bit on the alcohol flavoring, almost barley wine tasting (difference between the 90 and 120 minute dogfish IPA).Bartender was nice, (Kyle) knowledgeable about all the food.  I wanted to try everything, but I was really in the mood for a burger... so I went to the dark side and got a burger with pimento cheese on it (I have never done that... It's weird, unless you're from NC/SC, I think).  Also, seems weird to get a burger at a BBQ place, but I had a craving... The burger was very juicy, and tasty, and cooked well (MR), a little messy with the pimento cheese, and I gotta say now that I tried it, probably won't be doing any pimento cheese any time soon, but southerners would probably enjoy.  Anyway, I supplemented the burger with some wings because I heard they were among the best in town, and let me tell you, good wings are really hard to find in this area.  However, I think that the wings in NC are just different, and people have different tastes.  I really tried the wings because the bartender at Shuckin Shack said that they were some of the best.  I liked the Shuckin Shack wings much better, however (sooo goooood I'll post later).  The wings were the dry rub type, smoked and good flavor.  I thought they were a little dry for my taste, and I am also addicted to hot buffalo, and the only flavoring they offered was the dry rub and a side of buffalo blue cheese (just as it sounds, but very mild).I ended the meal with a Jasmine Tea IPA, which was very floral, but not hoppy enough for me... oh well, gotta keep tabs on the beers that I really enjoy, and the ones that I would skip next time.  I talked to Brook (manager ) for a bit, and concluded that even if I wasn't a huge fan of the pimento cheese, the service, and atmosphere were definitely worth another visit.  Give it 4 stars for that.  Next time the BBQ! It's a small restaurant with a bar, 3 tables for two, and two sets of bench seating so you might have to wait on a busy night. Lucky for us we got one of the open tables and had a fantastic meal. We had both the pork and a brisket platter with meat so tender you could cut it with a fork.  Both the brisket and the pork were moist and had a strong, but not overwhelming BBQ flavor. A very friendly, enjoyable little place! Emphasis on the "little" - I was surprised by how small it is, and it feels like an old-fashioned diner with its open kitchen and long bar/counter. They must prepare their food before customers come because it was maybe 3 minutes between when I placed my order and when the food came out.I was really impressed by their brisket, which was very tender and flavorful. (I saved half my portion for a sandwich.) The tangy red tomato-based BBQ sauce was a perfect complement to it. I was very pleasantly surprised by the cornbread, which was rich in flavor but not at all sweet (cornbread with so much sugar that it may as well be called corn cake is a pet peeve of mine) and the kale slaw - really more like a vinaigrette salad than a slaw, and very similar to something I make often at home - was refreshing and a good accompaniment to the meat. Perhaps best of all, they carry Brood soda! I couldn't resist drinking a Wolf with dinner. Two main things keep this from being a 5-star: first, like others have said, they could afford to tighten up their mac and cheese. My main issue with it was that the noodles were well overcooked. That can be kind of hard to control, especially when you're clearly cooking in big batches, but a firmer noodle would've gone a long way. Second, it's way more expensive than I thought it'd be. Granted, I didn't have to get the mac and cheese or the soda but including tax and tip (although I'm a fairly liberal tipper) it came out to $28 for just me. Oof. At my favorite BBQ place in the Triangle, Bare Bones, the same amount of food is under or just at $20. I'd definitely go back to Brew N Que but I'll file this under "places to go when someone else is paying." More...

I finally got around to visiting Brew N Que after hearing a lot of great things about it.  I was really happy with their pulled pork - those burnt edge pieces are so incredibly delicious, and they take the meat to a whole new level of goodness.  The sauces that are available both pair well with the meat.  The vinegar sauce is basically apple cider vinegar, which brings a welcome level of tangy-ness to the meat.  The tomato-based sauce is sweeter, but also has a little kick to it.  I enjoyed both, but am definitely more of a vinegar guy in general.I've also tried the collards, potato salad, and macaroni and cheese.  The potato salad is interesting, because instead of traditionally boiling the potatoes, the potatoes have the consistency of home fries, and then it's topped with mayo and flavoring.  It was still enjoyable, but definitely different.  The collards had great flavor and texture, and the mac and cheese was pretty standard. One of the times I went, we ordered take out, and we unfortunately were only given one small container of sauce for a pound of pulled pork (another time, we got 4 containers for half a pound...).  We also weren't given the cole slaw we had ordered.  Of course, we didn't realize any of this until we had gotten home, but after we gave them a call, they agreed to refund us for the cole slaw.  I just wish they had gotten the order right the first time around. The space is pretty small, so it's not great for large groups, but there is a huge selection of beers, and for a smaller group, it's definitely a great place for good barbecue.  I'm glad I've found a solid spot for good pulled pork in Cary - I'll be back. Cool place - great if you like BBQ and beer! They have a few rotating taps and a large bottle selection within the bottle shop.My only criticism is that I wish my food was served hotter.  The brisket is leaner than most places, which you may or may not like. Chicken isn't pulled chicken style, but a little chunkier (check the photos).Susie (Suzy?) was nice and helped me navigate the menu - she made excellent suggestions, explained the sauces to me and really knew her stuff! She was doing a great job of navigating a relatively busy lunch room. More...

I went there for lunch today. Pork barbeque was perfect--slow cooked smoky flavor North Carolina style. Choice of two sauces--one just vinegar I think, the other a bit hotter but both are Eastern NC sauces and are very good. For a side I chose the smoked potato salad. A typical NC bbq place would have a regular southern style potato salad--which would be good enough. This potato salad tasted different than anything else I have ever had. If I didn't like barbeque so much, I could see myself coming here just for the potato salad. Served also with a cornbread muffin--moist and with a touch of sweetness. I suppose some people would prefer a traditional cornbread muffin, but I thought it was just right. Sigh, I can't drink alcohol anymore so I can't speak to the 'brew' part. But I am going back for the barbeque. More...

O my gosh food was great! Gone there two days in a row. I wanted to do four and a half stars. Day one I didn't get potlicker and my friends had raved about the bread dipped in. Second day I requested pot licker but didn't get any bread. But food was so good. This time I got the smoke half chicken the best I have had and have enough left for later. Thank you guys for great service as well. More...

We came in to specifically try the brisket and pork BBQ, however when we showed up, to our dismay they were out of both. So we instead we took Will's suggestion and ordered things with both - brisket tacos w/ slaw, pork egg rolls, buffalo chicken egg rolls, and just because, Big Mike's Burger and the Mac n cheese. I am so glad they were out of what we were in search for or else we would never have tried the items we did.  The egg rolls were huge and the flavors complex. The meat in each was tender and perfectly smoked. The brisket tacos had juicy chopped brisket and their homemade slaw to add a nice acid and crunch. The Southern Mac and cheese did not disappoint. Big Mike's Burger was a fully loaded organic beef burger, cooked to perfection and topped with bacon jam, pimento cheese, and arugula. We will certainly be back to order what we originally came for as we were blown away with what we ended up having. Will is the man, the beer selection is great, too! More...

Legit. This place is the best BBQ in town hands down. The banana pudding has become one of my favorites as well. Chicken BBQ is also wonderful! We have used their catering before as well, which was excellent. Would definitely recommend them to anyone and will be back! More...

Holy cow this place is amazing! Beer selection is local and fantastic. "Burnt ends" of the brisket are amazing - apparently only available on certain days. Extra fatty and extra flavorful. Wings are perfectly seasoned and the bleu cheese slaw is my favorite side. The service is phenomenal. Can't recommend it enough! More...

Amazing pork and coleslaw (we got one kale - awesome - and one blue cheese coleslaw).  I loved the BBQ and hot sauces on the side. The way the pork is plated does tend to make the pork go cold pretty fast though, and cold pork isn't the best experience.  The only other unfortunate part of the dining experience was how small the space was - where you're pretty much bumping into everyone standing near the bar or trying to get to the bathroom. There's only one bathroom as well, so it's not the most relaxing/enjoyable experience.  However, the pork was really tasty and I'm wondering/hoping the owner(s) will venture into other sauces or rubs - perhaps a spicy one.  Finally, the alcohol selection is very local, craft, so that's cool. Just tried the new Apex location and not disappointed! Same great food and brews in a convenient new location. The meats are magical and the three sauces are unique and yet I always manage to enjoy each during a typical meal. This time I added the Banana Pudding afraid I would find it typical fare, but it is literally the best I have ever had. I am from Texas but will be back to see family often, and this will be a bonus. If I could take this place back I would be a rich man. More...

This review is for the new Beaver Creek location. The barbecue and collard greens were really tasty and cooked to perfection. With that said, the macaroni and cheese was bland and the cornbread was dry. In addition, the banana pudding portion size was very small and consumed by my 2 young kids within 2 spoonfuls per child. The staff members were friendly and the ambiance had a local vibe as opposed to your typical corporate chain. More...

This place is amazing. The smoked potato salad is out of this world. It's tangy and creamy and like nothing I've ever eaten before. The wings are fantastic and require no sauce. If you want sauce, however, the house sauce is great. Just enough sweet to balance the heat of the wings. Each of the beers on tap that I tried were great and the staff was able to describe and recommend them based on my tastes. We started with the Redneck Nachos, which were more like a Frito Pie. The mixture of tastes was fun. The blue cheese slaw was tangy mixed with the heat of the pulled pork and the crunch of the Fritos. Just fun to eat and experience. The staff was wonderful, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Can't recommend this place enough and can't wait to come back. More...

Great BBQ combined with a small, but diverse rotating tap.  Oh, and a mini bottle shop, with what looks like over 250 different bottle or can selections... Many of them from NC.The menu is SMALL, and doesn't have a lot of vegetarian options (they do have chicken if you only avoid red meat).  But then again...  It's a BBQ joint.  They focus on just a few things, and do those well. Back to brew n que after a hiatus.  Had the food truck last week at the ncmoa event.  Decided to bring along a few friends to try out the restaurant.  First of all, limited seating.  We were a group of 5.  The picnic benches and bar was full.  The service was very slow.. but waitresses were very nice.  Last time I was here I got 2 sides with my brisket - now it's one.  My portion was much less than the food truck and any other time I have been here before- however it was filling.  I was just used to having leftovers. The coleslaw was on par as was the smoked potatoes - which are a must! My friends loved the place and will be back. More...

Once upon a time..not that long ago..there was a family that traveled just a few miles in Ca, NC just to find everything they hoped and wished for relating to homegrown, old-fashioned, and absolutely PERFECT BBQ.  This family was mine.  And this BBQ was found at Brew N' Que. Our main courses were the Beef Brisket sandwich w/ the potato salad, the Big cheesy w/ a side of collards & Big Mikes burger w/a side of Mac & cheese. The main courses were just AMAZING!!! Words can't describe how perfect the meat was... juicy, tender, just perfect! However, the sides were not as good as I expected. They were not bad by any means but they were a little lack luster in the light of the main courses! Now the sweets?!?! OMG THE BACONANA PUDDING!!!! Soooooo delicious. The perfect ending to a beautiful lunch! Thank you Brew N Que! Ps- the Beer selection = on point!!! More...

A beer only review, because I didn't have time to eat-but the food looked and smelled fantastic, and everyone was digging it!  The beer selection was broad and high quality, both the tap and the retail options.  The staff knew what they were talking about, and they looked out for me.  My 1st pint kicked the keg, so they comped it, even though it was excellent, and their recommendation based on my first pick was on the money.  I was in from out of town and the manager helped me pick out some great packs beers to go.  Ass Clown makes some great stuff and I've never seen anything of theirs anywhere else, and every other option I bought was good or great!  Thank you for a terrific experience, I hope to visit again when I am in town and have more time to stick around!****Editing because on my return trip my son and I stayed and ate.....wow.  I mean, well out of your way good.  I got the last order of burnt ends and I really felt sorry for the next guy that ordered-not sorry enough to share, but sorry.  My son didn't want to leave.  Will definitely be back next time I'm within 50 miles.**** More...

Loved this place! There's a hostess who will tell you where you can sit. The place is pretty small. Seats under 10 at the bar and maybe another 15 in the rest of the place if you squish. It's sticky like any good hole in the wall with craft beer lining the shelves for purchase. I liked that they offered local, bottled sodas on their menu in addition to fountain drinks. We had the smoked wings (smoked, fried, then covered in a flavorful dry rub), pork egg rolls with chow chow, brisket (lean) and burnt brisket (fatty) tips, Cole slaw, and smoked potato salad (comes in a magic cheese sauce). Everything was delicious. The service was excellent. And dessert: a chocolate stout brownie and a magnificent banana pudding served in a plastic to-go container. Might be our new favorite BBQ place. Went there on a cold and rainy day and their food brightened my day.  I got the Eastern Carolina BBQ plate with the potato salad as a side.  I'll start by saying that the potato salad was amazing! I'm a pretty particular potato salad consumer so I don't normally order it at restaurants, but the server said it was her favorite side, and I wasn't disappointed. The pulled pork was also very tasty and very moist.  The plate also comes with cornbread that was decent, but not the best I've ever had. Driving up to Brew N Que; the outside does not appear to be much but as soon as you walk in you are greeted warmly with the smell of BBQ goodness and friendly staff.  The feature of the day was burnt ends. When asked for the details on the special, our server had a little glimmer in his eye as he described this delectable culinary piece of art.  The burnt ends is the top layer of the brisket which contains the yummy seasonings which has been caramelized with the fat. Definitely not on any healthy diet but SO awesomely delicious. With our burnt end nuggets of joy, we also enjoyed good craft beers and noteworthy sides.  The southern smoked potato salad was unique - too out of the ordinary for my hubby but I thought it was quite tasty cheesy, tangy, and a little smokey bowl of carb-deliciousness.  Mac and cheese was homemade and baked with good flavor.  Baked beans was also enjoyed with nice chunks of meat. Stopped in here recently for a quick lunch. Had recently moved back to NC and BBQ was on my mind. Brew N Que is a small place with a few tables, a long bar (with seating), good BBQ (the brisket was probably one of the best we've ever had, the pulled pork quite respectable), and a great selection of bottle, can and draft beer. Very much recommend.

I didn't know what I was getting myself into, but am so glad I passed this way.The good people of North Carolina are attractive, and smart, and really have good taste. During one of my 40 weeks on the road this year I found myself in Cary longing for a sense of home. In an location I would not have expected, Brew N Que came to my attention, and seemed interesting enough to drive the 20 minutes away from the hotel. For those not familiar with the history of Barbecue, and I am not an expert, it starts on the American east coast. Here is the longest history of the flavors of vinegar and jerk slow cooked into meats. As you travel west the types of meats used, the flavors added, and the debate over dry rub and wet sauces start to evolve the American pallet. Intertwined with this is the advancement of the rail roads and train yards where pork, cattle, chicken combine in St. Louis. I have had great barbeque in Austin, in St. Louis, in Memphis and now Cary North Carolina.Brew N Que has some tasty and interesting beverages on tap. It makes for a slow and easy evening to talk with neighbors. The sandwich I has was monstrous in size, big and creamy in taste. The Big Cheesy combines this smooth Mac and Cheese, BBQ meats, sweet pickles, and pimento for an added zip. It was delicious. Yummm, I can even taste it now as I write. This is a sandwich, remind you. This is all on bread. Enough to make two meals. It was recommended I try it with the vinegar sweet sauce.... I didn't think it could get better... but I was wrong. This elevated the flavors here to a new level without overwhelming the senses. While I did not have room, I did make way for the Banana Pudding which was just an added bliss of sweetness. Good people of North Carolina - your secret is no longer safe. I plan to share it with the world. You are not only attractive, smart, and have good taste, but hold a magical kitchen where some of the best BBQ in the US is created.Thank you - I will return... but not too often... I have to watch those calories.#intimate #bbq #tasteful #inventive #home More...

Delicious food. I am not normally a barbecue person and I promise you this was gourmet barbecue!  5 stars. Ambiance - in their defense,  it is a particularly hot August day - nevertheless, the temperature was a little warm.  3.5-4 stars. Service was ok. One Waitress was eating in the background while we were eating.  The other waitress had stains on her white shorts.  Seemed like it was an off-time: between their busy times of lunch and dinner: perhaps it was their  "catch-up" time.   3 stars. I like that the restaurant has expanded for more seating. I, once again, got the BBQ egg rolls and they are the bomb. I also tried the smoked wings which have just the right amount of spiciness. I was definitely more impressed this time. However, my husband was disappointed by the choice of sides with the bbq tray. 3 types of cole slaw seems like overkill.
