After driving past this restaurant, the thought of BBQ for dinner and the sight of the pig cooker was irresistible - even as it down poured. I turned my car around at the next intersection and parked out front of Big Mikes BBQ. I was unfamiliar with the restaurant and food truck, so I was a little confused on whether it was Brew 'n Que or Big Mikes. Nonetheless, they definitely had beer and BBQ. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the bartender (Trinda) and asked if I was dining in or taking out. I was ordering takeout so she provided me with a menu. The menu was fairly typical for BBQ places in the area with a couple of different items. I decided on two BBQ platters, one with corn bread and Mac n' cheese and one with kale slaw and coleslaw. Each was $11. I also ordered tator tots ($3.50). My order was ready in a reasonable amount of time. I could not decide on which BBQ sauce so they packaged both on the side. When I got home, I realized the tator tots were missing. I called and immediately Trinda apologized, explained what happened, and offered me a free meal next time - very generous. The BBQ was tasty, the vinegar BBQ sauce is strong, coleslaw is dry, and the mac 'n cheese, cornbread, and kale slaw were good. Be sure to mix up the kale slaw before eating since the dressing sinks to the bottom. The portion sizes and prices are reasonable. I would recommend this restaurant to others and plan to return soon! I was driving my work truck down Maynard about 2pm, hadn't had lunch yet, when all of a sudden I smelled some good food. I looked and saw a smoker and a sign saying "Big Mikes BBQ" ...I assume this is the same place as "Brew N Que."I got my truck back to work and clocked out early for the weekend. On my way home I detoured back to that smell. I walked in a was amazed at how many people were smiling and having a good time. At first I thought I had walked in on a family reunion or something but turns out the customers were just really laid back and interacting with each other. It became quite apparent that the staff attract this type of customer because they were just as happy and friendly. The waitress, whom I had never met before, greeted me as if I were a good friend of this family owned business (not sure if it's family owned but it definitely felt like it). Sat down at the bar, even tho I don't drink, and enjoyed some of the best bbq I've ever had. I tried both the vinegar based sauce and the tomato based sauce and I'm not sure which one I liked better. The whole time, I observed the waitress walking around table to table helping everyone but chatting and laughing as if she were hosting a Super Bowl party at her home. I could go on and on about the friendly atmosphere.I hadn't eaten anything since about 7am but I was completely filled with food left over (I ordered the bbq plate which includes two sides). On my receipt, I believe the server's name was Cary, but this was in Cary NC so I may have misread.I'll be visiting again first chance I get. More...

Been here quite a few times now - I live right around the corner. Right off the bat, the pulled pork is excellent, and you can sauce it according to your preference (Eastern NC or other sauces). I'd definitely put it on par with some of the other top-notch pulled pork in the area (e.g., Clyde Cooper's). I haven't tried the brisket yet, because frankly I'm enjoying the pork too much, but folks I've gone with have told me that's great too. I don't know that you can go wrong on the meat.In terms of sides, I absolutely love their smoked potato salad. Incredible. Beans, mac and cheese, and corn bread are all very good but not mind-blowing. Slaw has been OK, in my opinion.Beer selection is pretty good, service is always on top of things, and it's nice that they have outdoor seating now. Can't go wrong here. More...

Holy Cow (turkey actually). I have been to Brew N Que for lunch several times (usually during the work week). The food is always great. I brought my wife for lunch one Saturday and she was hooked. After lunch, she saw Brew N Que's catering menu and came up with a brilliant idea, order a smoked turkey for Thanksgiving. That is what we did this year.We picked up the smoked turkey at 12 and ate at 3. The turkey was moist and flavorful. You could taste the smoke all the way through the turkey. The skin was awesome. We are going to order this again next year. We are looking to get a smoked brisket for Christmas.I would highly recommend. More...

Ordered online tonight at 6:40 ( the order had already been sent at that time) I went in around 7:04 and was barely greeted by this server/bartender with reddish hair. I told her I had a pick up order and she said "the one we just got? Well it won't be ready for a bit."..... like what the one I just put in? Yes I put it in 24 mins ago to be exact so it wasn't like I just put it in a min ago. And I asked her,  well wouldn't it be done around 7:15 anyways since that was the pick up time? I completely understand when a restaurant is busy and your order gets behind but that's all she had to tell me and not say I just put the order in and make it seem like I got there wayyyyyy too early and it was my fault it wasn't done. Maybe she was having a bad day I don't know but it was rude the way she said it. Anyways enough about the service, I got the wings/brisket with two sides and the wings were AMAZING! But I was bummed that the brisket was extremely dry tonight. My kids pulled chicken was just as dry but the pulled pork my husband had he really enjoyed. Oh and lemme praise on that Mac&cheese and smoked potato salad  delicious! Definitely will be back to get a plate full of wings next time.  ( would have given it 3 stars cause of that server but I gave it four Cause again the wings and side were too good)Update: Michael thank you for responding so quickly I really appreciate it when owners like yourself show so much dedication towards their business and also providing great customer service. we look forward to coming back in to enjoy a nice family dinner. We stopped in here for dinner Saturday night and we had a good experience! We had to wait about 10 minutes for a seat at the bar, but that wasn't bad. One side of the restaurant serves food and various drafts, and the other side is a beer shop.We each ordered a beer and started to browse the menu. My boyfriend ordered the sliced brisket sandwich with slaw, and I had the 2 meat plate; chopped chicken and burnt ends with Mac & cheese and smoked potato salad. My boyfriend was going to share my sides. It was starting to get busy and a line was forming. We didn't have to wait too long for our food. The portions are perfect; most BBQ places give you way too much food. The first thing I tried was the smoked potato salad and OMG, it's a must order!! The potatoes are warm, cheesy, and the sauce they're tossed in is so delicious!! I've never had anything like it! The Mac & cheese was good, but not as good as that potato salad. My boyfriend really enjoyed his sandwich, the brisket wasn't too fatty. I loved the chopped chicken with a mixture of the 2 BBQ sauces they had; a vinegar based, and a sweet sauce. The burnt ends did not need any sauce; the flavor was perfect. My only complaint is the line of people that form behind you wanting to place beer orders while they wait for seats. It made dining awkward when you're trying to eat your meal and the waitress is handing beers over your shoulder. I feel like the bottle shop space could be utilized a little better as a waiting area. Big E in Cary on a cold rainy Monday night what betterWay then to warm the night with brew and cue. My third trip to brew and Q was just as intriguing as the first two trips. The added seating space is finished along with a huge selection of hundreds of brews and ciders. Decided to try the ribs ,brisket , baked potato salad that I had experienced on the first trip. Consistency of product is also a great sign of a great barbecue establishment. Brew and cue did not disappoint, my only negative would be that the ribs are baby back's and not St. Louis spares .  (Hey I am a BBQ snob I admit.) The ribs were cooked perfectly ,the brisket also was cooked perfectly. The baked potato salad again was one of my favorites and would cause me to stop by brew and Q even if the barbecue was not Topflite.    That however is definitely not the case as the Q is the star. After trying approximately  a half dozen barbecue shack's in the Raleigh Durham area brew and cue is definitely big E's top pick in the area and in my top 20 in USA.Stop by tell them Big E sent you and enjoy. Looked forward to coming back here for months and months. What a disappointment. Service was a complete disappointment, which completely over shadowed the food that was really good. We were 2 of the 5 in there and it felt like we were a huge imposition. Asked the girl with a messy bun about the sauces and she said, "I have no idea. I really don't care. I just come to work and do my job."  Left us absolutely dumbfounded. Was completely out of context. This was definitely not the experience I had last year. The bearded gentleman working there barely had the time to get us a beer as he was on his cell phone the ENTIRE time we were there. It was just a really big bummer. I'd chalk it up to a bad day, but for an out of towner that anticipated the warmth and great energy that she experienced last visit, it fell completely short. I'd suggest treating every guest like an out of towner or first timer and knock their socks off.Update:Wow, thanks for the prompt response!  No refund necessary, as the food was really good. We were there 11/7 at 5:30. Really appreciate you reaching out, Mike. It just seemed so out of character for your place. Thought someone might want to know. Best wishes More...

Probably one of the better BBQ places I've tried. When you come in, you can sit wherever. They have a good selection of beers and food. They have some interesting selections on draft. Their BBQ was really good. I tried their 2 meat platter. I should've tried 3 since I was afraid how much food they will give. The 2 meat platter was a nice portion. The two meats I got were the chopped pork and brisket. I also tried their ribs.Their pork was flavorful and tender. It was great. Their brisket was so juicy and tender. It almost melted in your mouth.Their ribs were amazing as well. It was cooked perfectly, where the meat came off the bone easily (but not slid off). The rub on the rib was amazing. It was a delicious rib.I liked their sauces too. One was straight up vinegar. And the other one was thicker, sweet-spicy sauce. If you want some good BBQ, try this place out. More...

I love Southern cooking and BBQ.  Each region has its own take when it comes to BBQ and wanted to try some East Carolina que when in town.  Big Mike represents the Carolina que well.  I had the burnt ends and pork.  Both were good.  Sides were also solid (I had the greens and Mac and cheese).  Just a warning for those who like BBQ from Memphis, Kansas City or St. Louis, Carolina que is different and more vinegar and less sweet.  An added bonus, if a BBQ joint doesn't have a pig on their sign, beware (just joking, some of my favorites don't) but Big Mikes does. Had smoked chicken wings and half a rack of ribs with kale slaw and Gouda cheese Mac n cheese. Chicken wings had a nice dry rub to it (sweet and peppery). The ribs were good and moist. Cheese was broken on the Mac and cheese sauce and the slaw was tangy and okay. It was more of a mini kale salad. The reason for the 4 star is because the smoke in the wings were not obvious and very feint. Prices were fair and they had a nice local beer selection which is a plus. More...
