It was fun playing Oscar Frost these past months. A lot of nice people working very hard every show to create some unique performance magic for our guests.

So much fun!!!! We went there for my 30th, and it was amazing!!! I’m so sad we won’t to go again We went to the August 3rd show at night. The last night performance. We ALL said “ man we wish we could come back!” I would definitely recommend it. More...
Amazing matinee performance! Our 2nd time and its always a blast! SOOOO sad that they are closing! The speakeasy is a must see and the only reason my wife and I come to SF!
So sad this is ending! We just went with a group of friends and would love to go back. Such a fun and unique night! Also a really high quality show.
Engaging, eye-opening and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience... highly recommend it!
Such a different and fun experience. Totally recommended, be ready to dress up!
We went to this show last night with friends. It was a blast and I am still so impressed with the quality of the whole thing. Such a cool space, great characters, costumes, musicians, drinks. If you have not done this, it is ending soon so what are you waiting for? Everyone dressed up in period costume and looked like they were having the best time. If it weren't closing August 4 we would totally do this again! More...
What a blast after a hard day at work. Nice staff, bartenders are awesome! Strong drinks with a strong side of much needed humor. This is our new girls hang out for now. You drink and talk and tell stories. It's just got that atmosphere to hang and chill. More...
Closing end of August, amazing experience
Amazing space providing fully immersive theater experiences, as well a unique shape for private events.
Great music almost daily but it's really crowded and some guy was trying to hit on my date literally right in front of me. Not the venues fault but seriously screw that guy. More...
Such a great experience tonight
Go and have a great night
Go back to 1927 before it closes!
We came to The Speakeasy on a Friday night. From the start, the experience was super authentic - I really liked how you met someone on the street that then told you directions of where to go. Once we got in, the drinks on the menu were varied and I liked the options. We ordered our first round and the show started. Once you got to walk around, it was a very cool experience how the actors engaged with the audience. The only downside was that it seems like there were quite a lot of actors and not as many guests enjoying the experience. No pictures from this one since you couldn't have your phone, but I did enjoy the Speakeasy! More...
An absolute must-experience. So engaging and entertaining!
JUST THE BEST TIME EVER!!! We happened upon this place/event via Yelp quite by accident while seeking nightlife... and words cannot express our appreciation and admiration for the talent... the effort... the authenticity... the FUN! Many dress appropriately for the occasion, (wish we had planned ahead, but cocktail wear was fine,) and you watch a fantastic vaudeville show with live band, singers, dancers and a rather too-longwinded comedian, and then you wander through bars and several rooms, each of which has something hilarious, fantastic, funny, amazing, and delightful happening via live actors. The mob boss called my partner and a couple others into an office to direct them on their tasks: leading the prostitution, bootleg, etc activities. WHAT A BLAST!!! If I were a tech gazillionaire, I would fund this place to continue forever. More...
I am so sad to hear the Speakeasy is closing. We went in May 2019 for my birthday and the absolute best time. Drinks were fantastic, experience interactive, staff warm and friendly. I won't spoil the story lines but definitely check out each and every room and make sure to get their early if you want seats for the performance. We had so much fun, do yourself a favor and go before this spot is closes it doors! More...

Absolutely a once in a lifetime experience! We had so much fun and the performers were amazing. A must see!!
Great experience! Getting dressed up, finding the right entrance, the ‘casino’...one of the best memories my now husband and I have of our courtship! Highly recommended!
Fantastically fun from start to finish!! I wanna do it again and again and again!!
Me and my wife went to this place in San Francisco for her birthday and this place is absolutely amazing!!!!!!! The staff never come out of character making it seem so real. The set up inside is amazing. I would recommend this place to everyone looking for amazing entertainment in San Francisco. More...
Stunningly on point, astoundingly fun, poetically historical.
Absolutely wonderful experience. Yes it may seem a little pricey but i easily would spend more to see a theater show. Keep this in mind. You will experience a whole experience of shows, fun interactions and drinks (etc) - a very polished product. More...
Alot of fun and the experience was new to me and highly recommend it
Once you abandon your cell phone and walk down the stairs, you are transported into another era - the 1920's Prohibition. We came with a big group, which was actually broken up because we all had different ticket times but that wasn't an issue at all because you are so engrossed in the experience that you are going to have an awesome time. We all dressed up in our most dapper outfits - flapper dresses, pearls, silk gloves, the works! It's wonderful because throughout the night you might be seated next to an actor or another patron. The venue has a cabaret, casino, and a bar. While you're exploring the venue (between watching the cabaret show), you stumble across little vignettes and see actors playing out a scene. The entire venue is cashless, so you set up your credit card tab, or "prescription" as they call it, ahead of time. That way you just show them your paper and they charge you at the end of the night. Great Gatsby lovers will go gaga for this experience! All in all, it was an amazing experience and my husband and I are looking forward to returning! When our friends from out of town come to visit, this is going to be our #1 recommendation! More...
We set up a corporate event at The Speakeasy, and it is one of the best events we have done. The staff was very friendly and helpful in setting up the event for us, the venue was a lot of fun and very authentic, and the actors worked hard to make us comfortable and entertain us all night. We had a great time getting our 1920's outfits ready beforehand, and also discovering all the side plots in the show itself. The whole event had a great 1920's ambiance, with lots of separate areas to explore, like the bar, the cabaret, the casino, and more. Sometimes we couldn't tell the actors from the audience! We are still discussing and swapping notes on everything that happened that night. I highly recommend this for group events. Definitely get the casino chips and cabaret reservations in advance, and get a group picture early in the evening; we were glad we did!Followup:I decided to take my fiancee to see the Mother's Day show, and we had a wonderful time! I can vouch for the fact that it is worth going to see the show a second time - I saw so much more the second time that I had missed the first; I think I will need to go a few more times to fully appreciate the experience. Once again, the cast worked hard to make the experience enjoyable and unique, and responded playfully to our enthusiasm. I can now personally recommend this for both group events and as an individual - you must go! More...
Went here with my wife, absolutely amazing time. Went with no real foreknowledge of the event, and we were impressed by the production value and commitment by the performers. We will definitely going back.
We had the BEST time.... such an authentic show and the cast was in character the whole time! We’ll definitely do it again!

I had the privilege of seeing the James Brown show here and it was Fantastic. At first i didnt know what to expect from the venue nor the production but i was in for a surprise. The venue is beautiful once inside and the production was worth price of admission plus more, note we bought 4 VIP tickets. Highly recommend and the guy who plays James Brown (Dedrick Weathersby) is definitely a talent you dont want to miss, his band is awesome as well. More...

What a fun evening stepping back in time!! Loved it!!!! Everyone should come to one of your shows.
Fabulous show!! Loved being immersed in it!!!
most fun I've had in the city in years!
If you are reading reviews to decide if you should go, here is your answer: Yes you should go! We went to this event five times because we enjoyed it so much. You will enter a large floor of a building and have the option of participating in multiple activities throughout the night based on how you're feeling.Suggestions for when you do go (because you should go):(1) Be quiet the whole night, unless you are interacting with the actors. Most rooms have actors playing out scenes so it is important to be quiet so that everyone in the room can hear the action. It can be easy to forget this because the actors don't have microphones on their faces, so you just need to remain quiet the whole night for the most part. We REALLY enjoyed the nights when the audience was quiet and we could hear the dialogue, and absolutely hated the nights when the audience was drunk and too loud to hear the actors. ***Often, you need to listen to actors to pick up on clues so you can decide to follow their storyline or not, so you really do get more from listening.(2) You will probably not get "picked on" or called out by actors, but if you do then you can just smile and nod. Some of my friends were nervous about being forced to act in public, but if this happens you can just smile and say something generic and things will move on from you. If you are nervous about having to interact with the actors, don't be -- you can choose to continue conversations/actions with them and can proceed or walk away (politely). Personally, I enjoyed watching the actors and their plots more than interacting with them, but my boyfriend enjoys more involvement and got thrills out of becoming part of some plots.(3) Dress for the '20s. It is more fun and immersive.(4) Try all the rooms and follow your favorite characters throughout their plot lines. We had so much fun following a few actors throughout the night and seeing their whole story, because you learn hilarious and juicy things throughout the night. The next time we visited, we followed a different few actors and filled in our knowledge of how things fit together. Figuring out the "whole story" of all the characters is the best part of the experience to me!(5) Do not have more than three drinks. A few times we ordered more than three drinks at the bar, and later learned they are decently strong drinks, which was not fun during or after the show. They are strong drinks, so now we have a "two drink rule" for ourselves. More...
Oh wow, this was FUN!!! From the first visit to the website to reservations to dressing up to being met on a street corner and handed off to assorted characters...the site is literally off a random dark alley...through fake doors and more. Inside is endless twists, turns, rooms, experiences, entertainment to join in with as much as you want. (Yes, it's ok to just watch but why ) I laughed, I danced, I sang....my date wandered off to drink and gamble but it was the kind of crowd where that wasn't a problem. The host was way fun and kept things going. Am SO doing this again with guests in town or not. More...
The most incredible experience! Well done, and I give all of the actors/actresses a huge round of applause! It is a night you won't forget!

Had a great time. Take off your troubles and get happy.
Thrilled to just discover this fabulous experience! My husband and I spontaneously signed up to celebrate our anniversary and it was extraordinary. Definitely will have to go back because we barely scratched the surface on all that was going on while we were there. Well done! More...
Well done! From the singers, actors, costumes, and design of the venue. You feel immediately immersed in the 20s as soon as you receive your tickets!
This is a must if your looking for a one of a kind experience. We enjoyed every second of our time from the moment we walked in. We caught both the early show and the late show. Both excellent and totally different. They couldn’t have done a better job of making us feel like we were alive in 1920. We wanted to stay for a month, but alas....Even the perfect night out must end. This was the highlight of our San Francisco experience. Be sure and dress up at least a little bit. We did and it makes the experience much more fun! I was glad so many others did too. More...

I went into a time machine Friday night with my gang of friends! I totally recommended this to go as a group! A Date night is great for romance as well! However, the anticipation was awesome.. It was a progressive night of entertainment. We had dinner and cocktails before the show which was our private cocktail hour.. Then met some strangers on the street that directed us to a secret night club filled with many secret rooms and I truly felt I was transported in time. I was literally in a movie with so many characters. The fact that dress up is mandatory and no cell phones created a true vibe! Victoria on pre booking was sensitive and patient with all my questions. Velma was so talented that I had a girl crush for sure! I heard Nick was the guy in charge and is Brilliant. I lost my credit card and Bosley answered my call and invited me back the next day and they found it! I had a great time on the phone with you Bosley and your authentic humble talent was inviting! I ended up meeting Megan the production manager the next day and hung out talking with the Director. Such genuine gals! I will be back!!! Bucket list #23 completed 3/15th! More...
Mind. Blown! We truly felt like we went back in time, a must go!! If you love roaring 20's era or just love history and love to party, you get both here! A Great Gatsby story in real life!
I miss being part of this place when I lived in San Francisco. The people and atmosphere is great and I definitely recommend it.
This is one of the coolest things I’ve ever been to. Highly recommend.
A tremendous evening out, and a difficult review to write because there were so many superlatives. You descend into a hidden place tucked quietly away just beyond the unsuspecting tourist and local hubbub of the neighborhood, and it's like walking through a time machine. The cell phones disappear into locked bags (thankfully!) that stay tucked securely away until the end of the evening. And then it begins. You are in a 1920's speakeasy, with all the entertainment and human drama imaginable. The promotional prose on the web site has got it right - it's immersive, and you are in the show, and a lot is going on around you. Do what you can to dress up to match the time and place - and the costumer recommended on the web site do fantastic work. The better costumed and more engaged you are, the more chance you'll find yourself in a scene. So many great, intertwined story lines going on in so many rooms. Plus the storylines you create with the other guests. For the extroverted, there's plenty of opportunity to become part of the scene. For the more reserved, there's so much to observe, experience, and take in. The major scenes are intense, but keep your eyes on the small details even from the very start. The actors/entertainers have it dialed in - they are convincing, interesting, and carry the night. And they keep things in constant motion, with stories unfolding everywhere, all the time.Sadly, it came to an end far too soon. We could have stayed hours more. We'll be back. More...
Wow. What a night! The Speakeasy is an experience you don’t want to miss and will never forget. All possible
We came tonight to celebrate our marriage 3/8/19 and from start to finish they made it a magical experience for us. The shows were unique the drinks were great and the overall experience was one of a kind. We absolutely will come again to celebrate a special event for a loved one. We tried this out last night and it was a blast! Such an enjoyable experience. It felt like we really had stepped in to the 20’s and dressing up snazzy 20’s clothes...❤️❤️. Amazing! A romantic, interactive, and awesome experience! 100000% recommend, would love to go back
I bought tickets for my BF and I's 2nd anniversary. It was a total win. We dressed to the 9s, followed characters through hidden doors, had great interactions with the actors, and just had a lovely time. One scene made my BF cry (understandably! it was a moving scene). We both expressed we'd love to go back and follow specific characters now that we know the lay of the land. A great date night. I highly encourage Saturday tho---I imagine it'd be sig less enjoyable if everyone wasn't opting into the scene. More...

You really feel like you're back in the 20s. The actors, the costumes, the atmosphere just sucks you in! I highly recommend checking the show out! I was just there for my third time and each experiences is just as exciting with new things to see and discover! More...
Amazing experience. Fantastic shows, the venue accommodates so many opportunities. Immersive theater, special performances, or rent the venue for a private event!
Wonderful experience. Exceeded my expectations.
My boyfriend and I went yesterday (valentine's day) to the speakeasy and oh man were we impressed! Everything was top notch and very organized which I was a bit shocked about! The performers were fire!! A couple stand outs for us was Vinny, Velma, Sal and the emcee guy who wears the white makeup (can't remember his character name). But, the whole cast was extremely talented! I really enjoyed their gambling room (you don't actually win anything though), I thought that was a very nice touch and hey I learned how to play craps! I found the speakeasy to be quite brilliant actually. I can't remember the last time I've said that about a show. Highly recommend checking out the speakeasy! Side note---dress up, if you don't dress up you will definitely feel out of place and very odd. More...
Had a wonderful and classy time! Surprises everywhere! Everything was executed perfectly! We didn’t want the evening to end!
Oh man. What a great experience. So exquisitely secretive. So much talent. So many surprises. Top notch entertainment. If my east coast friends ever come to visit, I will take them here.
Perfect down to every single detail. The characters, the storyline, the costumes and the environment all succeed in transporting you to another time. I didn't think I was going to really enjoy the experience (too cheesy? too much suspended disbelief?), but it was a really fun, totally unique night out with friends. More...
It was my first time at the Speakeasy and I went with two friends. At the insistence of different friends who had gone before me, I bought tickets and dragged two other girls with me. I got a 20s cabaret dress appropriate for the occasion, and even though a few people showed up in jeans, most wore smart suits and dresses. My favorite part was the interaction with the characters and drinking in the performances. I wasn't as keen on gambling, but it was still fun to watch. One problem is that credit cards MUST be linked by 3pm that day, and I don't believe cash is accepted. Coat check complimentary and enforced no phone use. More...
a step back into time with frisky ladies, beautiful costumes, talented musicians and singers... and you never know if you're sitting with an actor or some Joe from down the street... BIG FUN... WE CAN'T WAIT TO RETURN. More...
Unbelievable, highly recommend...
Easily one of the coolest performance venues in the entire country.
What an experience for a date night or with a small group! The drinks are great - there are some snacks available inside. You start with a seated experience for a while and then roam around by yourself. If you've been to Speak No More in NYC, this is pretty different - there is considerably less walking, scenes to sit in and also the scenes aren't connected. There are scenes where you could sit and enjoy a drink while watching the talented actors take you away to the prohibition era. No phones allowed inside, they give you a pouch to put your phone in which is then locked by them. More...
After visiting Sleep No More I was looking for a similar experience in SF and I found The Speakeasy instead. After reading some reviews it seemed like I wasn't in for quite the same experience, and that's true. But did I enjoy it any less? Absolutely not. Sleep no More and The Speakeasy are both extremely fun and immersive shows but with very different methods. Before the show starts you get a cute little invitation to show up at the location. Not going to spoil it too much but basically you're not given the exact location to go to, you show up at a designated spot, find a guy, check off your name, put away your phone, and then get sent on your way. Your phones are locked up for the entire duration of the show. You keep them with you but you cannot use them because they're in a special case that'll be unlocked at the end. That being said: have a purse with you to put them in. There is a free coat check you can drop your purse off at if you'd like. Now onto actual show info: first of all costumes. I've been here twice in the matter of 2 months, both on Saturday nights where dressing up is mandatory and just bite the bullet, pay $20 for a little costume set on Amazon because it's just so much more fun when you really throw yourself into the scene. The biggest advantage of The Speakeasy compared to Sleep No More is the ability to actually engage in the action. Buy some drinks, gamble a bit, and ENGAGE WITH THE ACTORS. Hug the crying girl, laugh along with the comedian, banter with Sal. Your experience here will be infinitely more worth it if you actually make the most of your experience. While I've also had several one-on-one experiences at Sleep No More, the ones here are more jaunty and fun. The performances are meant to make you smile as you listen to their cheesy accents and watch their over the top gestures. And if you get some private time you might even get a free drink (on my first visit I was in the bar during the horserace and scored some champagne and in my second I got invited into Sal's office for a whiskey).Basically here's a summary of the differences for the Speakeasy vs Sleep No More:1) Dressing up is more important2) It's more lighthearted and engaging (not to say I don't equally love Sleep No More's horror/mysterious/interpretive/artsy vibe, it's just a different experience)3) You drink throughout the experience vs just at the opening/end4) You get kicked out when the show is over vs being able to linger around at the bar (though some days I believe they have an option to stay later? Don't quote me on that.)5) All the scenes only happen once (versus Sleep No More where things are on a loop).6) You can sit back and just watch the cabaret show (basically go a more plot-free route)7) You have the option to interact much more easily.8) There's only a few settings compared to Sleep No More which is an insanely massive space but it's a speakeasy, what do you expect?9) The plot isn't too engaging. There's a few more high-school drama-y type things going on but nothing that particularly catches my interest but that just makes it more fun to hop around, explore, and get to know the characters.10) It's easier to stick around with your friend/date/group here compared to Sleep No More where you're encouraged to split up.The show ends at approximately 11pm so you can still catch the BART or stick around the area and grab a drink or see a less family-friendly show. Last notes: don't do the premium tickets. It's not worth it. You're moving around the whole time so there's no use for reserved seats and you can always buy your own drinks.Overall, I adore the Speakeasy. It's not what I expected and with the exception of the "immersive" angle, it's very different from Sleep No More. I can't do heavy bar drinking every weekend or just do musicals/plays all the time (okay that's a lie but I'm young enough where I shouldn't) so the Speakeasy is a nice middle ground. It's pricey but such a unique and enjoyable experience!Random last note: They don't sell food but I brought part of my leftover burger in and no one stopped me from eating it...so yeah...just a note in case you get munchies when you drink like I do. More...
I loved being able to explore the rooms by walking around and sitting or standing, throughout the entire show and among the actors! The drinks were yummy. This was a fun and unique experience :) More...

Had a great time at the Speakeasy Halloween event. Lots of entertaining characters, great drinks and the masquerade theme made for a fun time.
If you are looking for something unique and sexy for Halloween- definitely go to this event! This party has nothing to do with the immersive theater experience show- if you haven't seen that you also need to go! This is a night of fun sexy interactions, burlesque performers, french maids, light- bdsm shows, and dancing. And there is only one more chance to experience it. More...
Boxcar is known for having their hands in some incredible shows - most currently the 1920s immersive experience in North Beach called The Speakeasy. At a secret location. Get dress up to the 9's yourself or rent a costume from their rentals department. So much fun!
My 21st century voice kept forgetting to "speak easy," as my raucous laughter and attempts to speak over the music were met with a couple of friendly, in-character reprimands by Speakeasy staff. Oops!I'm costume averse, shying away from Halloween parties. But it was easy to find "flapper" style dresses on Amazon, and mine was under $40. I am not ever comfortable wearing a costume, but I quickly learned to appreciate my period dress, as I was then part of the 1920s scene, just like everyone else.I loved stepping down into the Speakeasy. It was like going into another era, for sure. The set design was well done, as if we were on a real set in a professional play. Performances were top-notch. I was so impressed by the acting, especially by the showgirls in their dressing room, whom we watched through a two-way mirror - bravo, bravo! I felt a bit like the Ebenezer, when visiting Christmases past and future. It was like walking among people who don't see you, but in a good way.All our phones had been locked up, so no one was checking into Facebook or Yelping or taking selfies for Instagram, and that helped to keep the experience more authentic. The only thing I missed was not knowing the time (since phones were locked up and mine was in coat check) and we had to be outside to catch our ride home at a certain time. I recommend wearing a (non-Smart) watch.I'm not a drinker so being at a Speakeasy was kind of daunting for me. I would have loved a coffee! Not much offerings by way of food at the Speakeasy, so we snuck out early and had a quick meal of freshly made dim sum right next door at China Live. The Speakeasy was immersive and fun. Give it a try! More...
Oh-my-WOW!!! Absolutely PHENOMENAL experience with AMAZING talent!!! Nothing like a traditional theater experience, so unique and fun!!! This was honestly my most favorite night in SF after living in the Bay for over 20 years!!! Immersive, fun, and surprises throughout the night. I absolutely loved it!!!!
Awesome expirence! Definitely getting your monies worth.
Fun! I would describe this as an immersive, interactive play. This is great for all ages. There were several people there by themselves just to watch the characters, and several there who mentioned it wasn't their first time. For those organizing groups- We had some issues with everyone buying their own tickets so I'd maybe buy everyone's tickets and have them Venmo me next time. Kristen was AMAZING for helping to sort everything out. Everyone was wowed when we walked around and got pulled in for special things. I'd always kind of have a meeting point to get back to if you're trying to coordinate. The man on the moon picture only holds eight people so we split our group up for photos. Also, may want to let your guests know this is not a true bar experience- speaking quiet is really encouraged- and the goal is not to get drunk but slightly tipsy. Also- tip for this with medical devices connected to your phone, remember to bring another monitor so they can take your phone. We went to Tamarind Hall (walking) before and they were not able to get us within 1 h and 20 mins so get there extra early, we went to 15 romolo after- which was perfect and you can make a table reservation there. From beginning to end the staff was super helpful! More...
Wow! What an incredible experience! Impressive immersive theater! Went with a group of 9 friends and we all had SO much fun, even better than I had dreamed it would be. Get your costumes from Amazon (so cheap, but beautiful!) and grab a drink beforehand from a close by bar. Be ready to immerse yourself in the eye candy!! More...
This was one of the best experiences I've done in SF. I was initially skeptical about the Speakeasy SF - it seemed a bit expensive, I wasn't sure what to expect, getting dressed up felt awkward BUT from the moment I stepped inside I was completely blown away. I felt like I had traveled back in time! The decor was spot on, the performances were incredible and the drinks were top notch. It felt so realistic! Yes, it is a bit pricey but it is WELL worth it! If you've ever gone to a musical, ballet, concert or opera, then you should absolutely come here too. If you can let yourself go and have a little fun, you'll be pleasantly surprised! More...

***** FIVE STARS (Includes 2nd review and photos from our 2nd time) First review Westworld meets Boardwalk Empire. Creative, mind altering and most all just a blast. The cast is incredibly talented and playful & the action is nonstop. Do yourself a favor and go all out for your costume. It helps everyone get lost in this world that has been created for us....Don’t be a putz. A little effort on your part makes it more real. Like I said its like Westworld and the participants dress up. I think if you show in your regular clothes you should be 23 skid-dooed. Caution:The drinks are powerful. It can be easy to get Zolzzled. The Tea Sandwiches hit the spot. Just do it. 2nd Review: Still surreal and dream-like. We added another dimension this time around and Keith & Pamela got their costumes through the Speakeasy Costume Shop. Sarah & Ralph know their fabrics & textures& Cartier. They made it very fun and were in character the entire time. Its the way to go! You can get them around a hour before your entrance time and return them after the performance. Even the shop looks like its from 1923. We spent a lot of time in the casino. Clyde, the black jack dealer seems to deal loads of 17s....just saying. Our Waitress in the cabaret never left us thirsty or hungry. The word on the street is that they are scouting locations in Chicago More...
The perfect getaway from this modern world, complete time warp, great singing, dancing and venue ! Food is excellent too !
What a fun experience! My husband and I highly recommend this joint! It was fun to dress up and to see what everyone else was wearing. The cast was excellent and made you feel like you were stepping back in time. It was a bit on the spendy side, but most likely no more than a Vegas show! I loved that they do not allow phones, no distractions there!Loved it!! More...
It's a cool place. There were 8 in our group and all had a fantastic experience. The secret doors and secret passwords make it so exciting. I do like how they take your cellphones away. The show is not as entertaining- story line is good but slow. There are plenty of other rooms and things to do. We reserved for 2 booths initially but paid extra to keep only 1 for the whole night.. when we went to the back room they let other people sit in our booth. and when we showed our Rx to the host they were able to "empty out another booth" for us; but my purse was on the original booth! We did find my purse- thankfully. The service was slightly inconsistent. Some wait staff gave us better service than others. Would NOT recommend PAYING EXTRA getting a booth for the night. The drinks in the back room are strong and yummy. More...
The drinks are waaaaaaay too expensive but I don't care. I love this place.
we had the best time ever !!
I celebrated my 30th birthday here with a group of about 20 people, and we had an amazing time. They were helpful in trying to coordinate times/tickets for my group and even did a ticket hold so we could purchase together. The check-in process is smooth, and they are in character from the time you meet up at a predetermined spot (they tell you where the day before) to the time the party ends. The venue is large, and you have free rein of the place and can interact with characters all you want - just don't go in any rooms marked "private." I enjoyed following the characters from room to room to follow their storylines and watching the variety of acts in the cabaret. I'm looking for an excuse to dress up and go back! More...
Can't say enough how much I enjoyed transporting back to the 1920s. I don't get the chance to dress up unless it's Halloween. But being invited to attend a birthday party here it gave me a chance to doll up. The dress code is firm. You must dress up. No exception. With this rule, this added more a solid feeling of being part of the 1920s. I love the fact, not one of the women dresses or men suits who were there that night wore the same outfits. Everyone was dressed to the Ts and authentic (so fun). The people who are working there blends in with the guest and you are not sure if they are the guest or works there. There were a couple of times I was asking how they know the birthday boy (hahaha). Anyway, you do not need to bring any money since the time you order the tickets you can save your credit card information and the time you are there, they give you a label card with your name. It took me a while since I was having such fun at the gambling room but there are three other rooms to go to. I highly recommend this place if you are thinking of transporting back to the 1920s. Absolutely incredible experience. Best thing I've seen in SF since I moved here. I highly recommend walking around the hallways and trying to follow characters to take in more of the story.
As a producer, director and actor with my own theater troupe for over 20 years, I found the Speakeasy experience totally unique and highly entertaining as one of the best immersive productions I've ever been part of...believable to the last detail with great storylines, impressive casting...what more could you want if seeking a taste of 1) old S.F. and 2) prohibition era speakeasy life are your goals? I hardly drank at all and still enjoyed it immensely. Be sure to spend time ahead to prepare as authentic a Roaring Twenties costume as possible...you'll be glad you did. And roam widely to fully sample all the 'wares' available. Not to spoil but the ending is totally natural and in keeping with the night's theme! More...
Speakeasy is an incredible experience. Certainly, it captures the atmosphere of a classy 1920's illegal/underground booze joint, but it's far more than just that. A play--or, perhaps, many plays--where there is no stage, Speakeasy allows you to bear witness and even interact with a multitude of characters, each with their ongoing storylines. There are secret rooms, there's gambling, there's music, there's drama, and of course there's alcohol. No matter what room you're in, something's going on. In fact, there's so much going on that you couldn't possibly discover it all in one night, meaning that the place begs you to return to see what else you missed. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening at Speakeasy, and if you're in the mood for an immersive shindig, I expect you will too. More...
I had an absolute blast dancing, watching, & interacting with the amazing cast and other guests. Everyone was dressed to the nines and the energy was high! The details throughout the building were amazing! I’d live there if they let me! Thank you for creating such a unique experience. More...

Amazing immersive experience.
The Speakeasy is epic! I had an amazing time. The whole thing was so much fun. From getting dressed up like a flapper to the very end of the night. I highly recommend dressing up in the 1920's attire. This was a pretty pricey deal though. We paid like $300 for a table for the entire night ($100/hr), plus $75 for drinks, $100 for renting costumes, and $35 for the optional photo. First off, we did NOT rent costumes from them so I have no idea what the rates are here. We got a male (gangster) and a female (flapper) from a dance store in San Rafael (total for both was $100). I highly recommend getting the picture. The photographer will pose you, take a few shots and hook you up with the best one. This is great since you can't bring a phone (which I loved not seeing cell phones everywhere). That would've absolutely ruined it for me. I think the table was unnecessary, tbh. Although it was nice to have a place to come back and sit down every once in a while. I don't recommend wearing high heels if you're not used to walking around in them. I made that mistake and wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy. Every time we came back to sit at the table, I noticed we could just sit wherever there was a free one and no one checked if we paid for it or for how long. I'm pretty sure anyone can just sit wherever. At the beginning of the night there was the most people watching the show in the cabaret. During that time it would be good to have a table reserved. The show went on for the whole time we were there. The performers were great, and really gave it an authentic feel. I really felt like this is exactly what it would've been like to go to a speakeasy back in the day. I can't judge the food or drinks because I just had water. I did peek at the menu and it was mostly appetizers and drinks. They did have like one sandwich I think. It did not look like people come here for the food. I didn't see much and we went out to dinner before. We did arrive fashionably late because we missed their last email giving us instructions on how to get in. So, we ended up going to the location marked here on Yelp and it was way off. I'm pretty sure they don't want their exact location disclosed and they were very secretive about the whole thing. That slightly complicated things but added to the authentic vibe. Overall, the performers and everyone who we came across went out of their way to make this fun and as realistic as possible. I will absolutely go again! More...
We were at the Speakeasy SF for my birthday, it was amazing night that all the guests were acting like they were in 1920's with costumes, dances, make ups. When you meet the guy that gives you the address information, your life changes into another period. The place location is not public, you will get some information at the night before the event. Do not be late! It important and start with the bar session while you reseve your ticket. while booking online do not forget to buy chios for casino and photo. Do not forget it is a 4 dimension theatre with drinks, there is no eating place or food menu. Take your drink and act like you are in 1920s. Drinks are so cool, we loved them. Inyour prescription it was written that you should drink whiskey but you do not need to drink whiskey it is a kind of joke. Drink whatever you want. We tried 'better red wine, bubble drink and champagne'. All are great and have high alcohol level. Do not go the event by car, use othet options then you can drink during the event, and before going there you need to have dinner there is no food inside. And it is forbidden to go inside with your phone, they will take your phone at the entrance. Yes! Find your costume and live the period! More...
I had the BEST time here and can not wait to come again! Since each character has their own story lines, you could come several times and still not see everything there is to see. It was also fun to see what everyone in the audience was wearing too. I recommend it to anyone who visits SF and of course to anyone who lives here! More...
Amazing production! I have attended twice and each time is amazing the actors are so into it. And the decor is so accurate for the times everything is art deco even the small details in the restrooms down to the soap dispensers and hand towels. The drinks are very strong even for my more than experienced drinker boyfriend, the food is danty and cute but I word say grab a heavy early dinner before attending as the drinks are heavily poured, you will thank me later! 10/10 bring your partner or bring a family member that adores the 20's. WOW. This was an incredible experience. I highly recommend this for anyone who has even the slightest bit of love for the 1920's. So much better than I could ever hope for and I can't wait to come back! The immersive nature of this place is no joke, and they paid attention to so many tiny details that really made me feel like I traveled back in time - almost felt like a dream...At first, I expected all of the acting to be somewhat cheesy but a few of the scenes that we encountered really had me engaged and lost in the drama. I know they have become a little bit more lax on the dress code recently, but honestly the costumes are half of the immersive experience so I highly recommend going in costume. More...

From start to finish impeccable in every way! Best if you are smartly dressed. I grew up in theatre and felt drawn in to the immersive interactive bits. The drinks were well crafted and the games of chance made me feel like I was in old time San Francisco. More...
This is an incredible production! It is a wonderful event to attend with friends, as you get to explore the various rooms and engage with your surroundings as if you are in a real Speakeasy in the 1920s. You can "gamble" in the casino, drink, watch the cabaret and mill through the rooms at your own leisure all while witnessing various beautiful storylines unfold around you by the actors. It is so fun and full of the unexpected. The attention to detail and the beauty of the production was so much more than I anticipated. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to time travel and have a fun, entertaining night out! More...
There is so much to take in – the cabaret, the casino, the bar, people watching revelry and, of course, the many gifted actors circulating seamlessly throughout my entire visit to the Roaring '20s – that I felt like I was cheating myself by not returning again.
So I did. There i so much more I picked up when I did. It made me appreciate The Speakeasy even more.
And, NO ONE CHECKING THEIR CELLPHONES, for an entire evening! That alone was worth the price of admission. More...
Amazing show, I had no idea what to expect but it was more than I thought possible in a show. It’s not a show it’s an immersive experience. At one point I had the girl in a red dress sitting next to me asking what my secrets were (clearly drunk) and she tells me she is a teacher lol! It was great, my husband even enjoyed all the story lines! We will definitely be back again! Loved it! More...
excellent entertainment + underground party + shameless voyeurism
Loved Speakeasy! It absolutely immerses you in drama after drama - perfectly set in 1920’s San Francisco. It’s a trip!!! The drinks are strong & delicious. They also have good no-alcohol options. Being there is like being entertained, being part of an underground party and getting to be a shameless voyeur!

I was so impressed and enchanted with this amazing, physically beautiful production. It's a fun adventure, even starting on the streetcorners where you have to meet people to send you to the right location, because you already have a sense of complicity with random other people on the street who are dressed up in 20s garb just to see a show. Once inside, the drinks are excellent and strong, and about 8 zillion storylines emerge and you can only follow so many-- I already can't wait to go back and make some other choices in what I follow. The set design is impeccable, the cast talented and sharp. When the big bustling rooms (the cabaret, the casino, the bar) get to be a bit much, you can find stories playing out in other much quieter places, sometimes one-on-one with an actor. My friend and I ended up in the ladies room reading erotica. I am usually kind of eye-rolly about having to dress up for theme nights, but I was really glad I did (and that so many others did.) (Even if you just made a nod towards the theme with cupid's bow lips and long beads over a shift dress, it would be great. Having so many audience members who really commit to it really keeps the whole environment fun.) Definitely check out the dressing room, the peepholes into the boss's office, and a bunch of places I'm sure I didn't even find on this first trip. More...
I am very hard to please. I have seen many Broadway shows. I can honestly say that this was the best show I have seen in years. The sets, costumes, actors were all perfect. I didn't want to leave. I was totally immersed in it. Even my 20 year old daughter loved it and want to see more!!!! More...

This is a terrific night out! I was thoroughly entertained!
This experience allowed me to step back in time to an era that has always fascinated me--- 1920's Prohibition. I came prepared to pretend by dressing in period costume. Most patrons did likewise. As I scanned the caberet, the bar and the casino I detected no distracting Steve Job's inspired garb snuffing out the historical illusion. Thank God for the dress code! The authentic setting was intriguing. The multi faceted entertainment was superb. The stout drinks were period inspired. I won't spoil the evening's details for those who have not yet had this amazing night's adventure--- which I highly recommend and will definetly repeat! More...
By far the most fun I’ve ever had while drinking cocktails under the streets of SF!
An absolutely fabulous time!! From the secret location to the costumes and the acting it was all fantastic! I'd write more about the scenery and scenarios but that would ruin the experience for you! One thing I will say is that one should be sure to move through all of the spaces a few times just to be sure you follow the story. Awesome experience! I will definitely go again! More...
I enjoyed my drinks and time here
Highly recommend going with a group of friends. Go with people willing to separate and wander for a bit to pick up different threads of the story. Stop somewhere afterward to discuss the experience. Fun night! More...
Celebrated my birthday in 1920s style at the Speakeasy SF. It was fun to start in the Cabaret to see the sit down stage performance. My friends and I all had fun exploring the different rooms and seeing all of the performances pop up around us. Next time we probably wouldn't order chips for the casino, because we spent so much time at the casino tables instead of continuing our explorations. I really enjoyed this unique, immersive experience especially since I love dressing up and getting into character. More...
This is an unreal experience. I was so impressed with how immersive the environment was, including a hilarious cabaret with 1920s-style vaudeville, casinos with everyone dressed and behaving as in the 1920s, and authentic 1920s drinks. One particularly striking thing was a set of historically accurate gay storylines. I came to this with my male partner and was thinking of a book I read about gay life in the early 20th-century U.S. In the 1920s, there was actually a lively gay scene in many U.S. cities with its own language and customs. I was telling my partner about this, but I had no hope that there would be any reference to it in the Speakeasy. In fact, as we were wandering out of the cabaret, we came across two men flirting with each other using coded, 1920s language, and a third, older man interacting with them. I spoke to the older man, and he took me into a closet, where he explained how he had a family but never felt quite at home. He carefully spoke in the language of the period and acted just as I would have imagined based on the college class I took on gay U.S. history! I am still in awe of how the Speakeasy incorporated this often-forgotten part of history, and as a gay couple, we really appreciated this storyline. More...
One of a kind experience from beginning to end- entertaining, unpredictable, unique & strangely real. I felt like Alice going down into the rabbit hole-in 1923! Don't miss it!
excellent entertainment + underground party + shameless voyeurism
This was the most immersive experience that I have ever had! When we left we had to pause for a moment to remember that we weren't actually in the 1920's.
Done this twice and loved every minute of it! I highly recommend doing this! Was so fun to get dressed up and hang out in a nice space - you get to be entertained and also participate in this unique experience. Its fun to wander through the various areas (bar, casino, cabaret, dressing room, etc.) to witness the various stories that unfold. So much better than just sitting and watching a show. But you can do that instead - the cabaret has a constantly changing show of entertainers (singing, dancing, comedy) of the period you could just choose to sit and watch the whole time, but you'd really be missing out by not exploring! Exciting to guess who is an actor and who is an audience member since you usually can't tell since everyone is in period dress (actually very easily found and relatively affordable on Amazon).Tip - order a drink and casino chips before you get there (they'll give you an option to set up a tab in advance since no cash or cards are accepted during the event to keep with the period theme). You'll have fun using the chips at the gaming tables (roulette, black jack, and craps) but they don't have any value so just fun to have some to play with.Do this! :-) More...

Best birthday I’ve had in years! I can’t wait to go back!!! :)
What an experience! Absolutely magical from start to finish!!!
Fantastic idea. Me and my girlfriends really felt teleported to the 1920's. Hours fly and you don't even notice. People (most) were dressed appropriately for that decade and actors were excellent. I recommend not sitting for too long in the same room, but follow at least a couple characters that you are interested in and put their stories together. This is the third time I go and still think I haven't seen everything. Go there, enjoy a drink and live the experience (very unique in San Francisco). Eat before. Food is awful. You're there to enjoy the experience too so no point in wasting your time eating for a long time in the same room! Thank you for another brilliant night. More...
This was an awesome evening. I would come back to San Francisco just to do it again.
This was an awesome experience with entertainment as well as the drinksWe got the Thursday night showing since it's cheaper. Probably less crowded too. Not sure if it was really worth it to go to the earlier seating in the Casino. You just have more time to gamble with fake money. If we were to do it again, probably would want to get early seating in the Cabaret since it would seem like a show would be on at that point?Loved how you could go from one room to the next and see storylines take place. Repeat visits mean you would be seeing new stories if you follow different rooms. Action is happening even as you go through different corridors and have peepshow access to stages set up as dressing rooms and private officesAlso loved how they would pull in audience members as part of the show. keeps you on your feet!I was surprisingly delighted by how much i enjoyed the old-timey banter at the cabaret. Cheesy jokes really made me laughfinally, the drinks are expensive but well made -- would've been disappointed if a speakeasy didn't deliver on good drinks More...
Abosolutly fantastic!!!!! It was completely realistic and interactive. and we loved every moment from finding the man in the yellow hat to every one who kept in character throughout the rooms. We went to the Cabernet room first and my husband was Dick, a famous person that people kept asking autographs from. The lighting was a bit dark and I accidentally ordered desserts instead of a drink. I think the writing on the menu should've been bigger because of the lighting but the lightening was good for the atmosphere. I did finally order my first drink of the night as recommended by the patron next to me. It was really good. Moving onto the next room, the bar, they had their own show going on. It was wonderful to watch. The waitress recommended a drink that I absolutely loved. It was on the sweet side just how I like it. It gave me a really good buzz that lasted the rest of the night. The 3rd room was the Casino in which my husband had a great time gambling and our dealer was really funny. He even said he wished he could stay longer if he could. I wish we could've taken pics inside but understand why. We left the night very satisfied. In the morning I finally got the itinerary of what we spent and I thought that it was over priced. A 3 piece desert was nearly 10 dollars, 1 macaroon, a small pastry with filling, and a half finger of something else. The 2 drinks I ordered were both between 16-19 dollars for the size that look like it should be for sample tastings. Even the beer my husband ordered which was the cheap east item on our bill was still quite expensive cuz he's s cup looked like it could be a tasting sample. We definitely had a good time and glad we ate before arriving cuz we prolly would've spent more on their food. Should we come again, which we might. I'll remember to drink before hand then enjoy everything else. More...
I have now been to Speakeasy SF three times, at two different locations, and each trip has been more magical than the last. I don't want to give anything away, but suffice it to say every person I've ever brought to this has been moved and inspired by the amazing performances, storylines, singing talent, and production of this immersive show. The cocktails are delicious and pack a punch. The costumes are gorgeous. The show, in a lot of ways, feels like the soul of San Francisco. Absolute B-L-A-S-T. The entire experience - from receiving the tickets in my email to being there in costume taking it all in - it was incredible. Three hours of showtime and we hadn't had enough, we were legitimately sad when we had to leave. The show is very interactive and the talent is fabulous! The effort that went into replicating the era is commendable. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun and refreshing night out, or visiting the area.We started in the bar, do that! The dressing room is where we spent most our time, it's the behind-the-scenes drama and it's quite entertaining. More...
Brilliant interactive 1920's Speakeasy theater. Most fun I've had in ages. The performance is not just on the stage - The actors and actresses pop up time to time in the audience and settings, and weave their stories into the proceedings. Drunken bar flys, boozy dames, struggling chorus girls, down on their luck workers... Definitely dress up in 20's style if you go. I'm kind of a hum bug with that, but I did, and so glad. It made the whole experience so much better... More...
The Speakeasy SF is one of the best things to do in San Francisco. It's such a wonderful experience - especially for date night. A. Maz. Ing. Best time I've had in a while. Great actors. Great drinks. So much fun. We will be back.
My husband surprised me with this (as best as he could, since I had to get a costume and get dressed up) for my 50th Birthday. It was OUTSTANDING! Every single detail is authentic and detailed. They didn't miss a beat. Lots of actors there, some interact with you, some you just watch. They had a cabaret, a casino, a bar, lots of vignettes that you walk into and see actors playing out a scene. There are 2 way mirrors into the ladies dressing rooms where you see and hear what's happening behind the scenes. You can even witness gangsters making deals. You set up a tab beforehand, so whenever you order something, whether it's chips for the casino, drinks or food, or go to the photobooth, you just show you "prescription for alcohol" and it goes onto your tab. We had dinner ahead of time in North Beach, then met our secret person, who aimed us toward their secret entrance down an alley way. There is a big white grand piano and big band playing in the cabaret. EVERYONE Is in costume. It's AWESOME! It was the best birthday I've ever had. We will be going back, it was so great. Very fun. We were there for about 4 hours, and there is so much to see and do, the time flew by. Highly recommend! If you ever get the chance, do it! More...

The most amazing show I've ever seen. Please bring this show to Boston.
The Speakeasy is by far the best theatrical show in San Francisco. Imagine a place where you walk down a flight of stairs and step right into 1923. The Speakeasy takes you there and keeps you in that setting for the entirety of the show (about 3 hours). Remember, this isn't just a bar, this is an immersive theatrical experience. You're inside the show and you can watch it go on around you. You can explore the bar, the casino, and the cabaret at your own pace and there's always something going on. There's a lot of other special hidden locations to discover as well. Through the course of the night you'll find a story playing out with every one of the 30+ characters weaving their way in and out of it. It can be funny, sad, and completely terrifying at times. You can easily go 10 times and not see the same show twice.A few tips: Dress nice. They're serious about people showing up in jeans being told they can't enter. The drinks are strong. Don't be the drunk jerk who disrupts the show and gets escorted out. Think about eating beforehand. They have snacks, but you're all dressed up and out on the town! Grab dinner. Don't expect to take a bunch of selfies inside. The no cellphones rule is strictly enforced. Explore. There's hidden rooms and things go on in every nook and cranny. There's even a few scenes that take place in the bathrooms! This is the type of place that you're probably going to want to come back to since there's just too much to see in one or even three shows. I can't recommend it enough! More...

This is one magical, unforgettable night out! The actors are plentiful and skilled, the storylines diverse and overlapping. The physical building itself is lavishly decorated and there is a divine, elegant sense of whimsy. The musicians, comedians, dancers, and singers are well trained and wonderfully personable. I have gone three times myself, and each time has been magical and glorious. From meeting at agreed upon locations for tickets, to entering through a clock or a clothesline, to wandering about in a moment from a distant past, the entire thing feels deliciously forbidden. If you possibly can, I recommend staying until the end, then returning to modern San Francisco in your 20s finery. More...
If you've ever wished you could have a Midnight in Paris experience now you can! I want to go back every weekend and get lost in the amazing 1920'a world they've created. A quick email to customer service has taken care of a future ticket credit. Can't wait to return. More...
Went there last weekend. Really fun and different to do. Loved the whole idea. Actors were excellent. I would just wear lots of warm clothes. It was cold is my only complaint. You have to go to see More...
It was really fun! Your experience started ones you get to the spot (check email, they will tell you). Actors did an amazing job - really hard to tell who is an actor! Everyone is dressed up so make sure you wear something nice and "in 20th". Cocktails are strong and really good! Probably not the best place to meet old friends and talk - at the very last room "security" lady came several times and told us "to speak easy". I guess we were too loud or it might be part of the acting. Definitely a great experience, they kicked everyone out around 11pm telling us "police" is coming and we have to run not to get caught. Our group took a picture but I didn't find out how to get it yet. Great for date night! An experience like no other in The City!
A truly unique evening, can't wait to go back and figure out what the heck happened!
Amazing night! I don't want to give away their secrets, but it was surprisingly delightful from the second I met the contact person outside! Dress up for all you've got, grab some friends, and have a blast! More...
Thoroughly impressive experience. Felt like living in a dream. The acting was especially impressive - the actors payed attention to the smallest details. For example, I noticed one of the actors was visibly distressed, and you only find out why maybe 10 minutes later. Drinks were incredible and snack food was good. The people that went were all dressed in era appropriate attire. There's so much to see that I'd definitely go again, maybe a couple times. More...
What a Blast... we became absorbed in the Speakeasy life of the 1920's. Frisky Ladies, Shady Guys, a touch of San Francisco History, Booze and a Diva Singer with major drama. Loved it. See ya next time we're on the West Coast. More...
Really enjoyed the evening. The actors were amazing, always staying in character. I was not happy with how the evening started. I paid for premium tickets and I thought I was going to be seated early. When we got to the meeting place on a street corner we were there with 12 other groups. We had to wait for our contact to speak with many other people before we got instructions on where to go for the entrance. I would have much rather waited in a warm bar for the contact person. And, the speakeasy would make more money from drinks. Would have given 5 stars if I didn't have to wait in the cold for so long. More...
Find and unique evening! I highly recommend that you start in the cabaret - and then enjoy the drama as you wander the theater space. Some of the acting is truly fabulous - and everyone stayed in character at all times. It was fun and different - and I recommend it! More...
What a fun show! I can't wait to go back and have been highly recommending it to everyone! All the performers were amazing, approachable and very professional. They thought of every detail. So impressed! More...

An amazing and unforgettable experience. I can't wait to do it again!
We were very fortunate to have been guests at a private function at the Speakeasy and we enjoyed the experience immensely. The staff, servers, and managers were professional and friendly. They made us feel immediately at ease and appreciated. You enter the Speakeasy through a grandfather clock so you know what's on the other side is going to be a good time (pun intended). The venue is classy retro-chic-meets-steampunk. Our party started in the lovely main stage area with a highlight of the company's progress through the years. The presentations left everyone in a joyous mood, ready for a party. We continued to a bar/dining room where excellently mixed cocktails were served very quickly -- we love it when the bartender flames the orange zest into the drinks. Tasty hors d'ouevres were spread out and enjoyed as the wonderful trio sang and played the piano and banjo for us!The remainder of the night was spent in the gaming hall where we enjoyed playing Black Jack, Craps, and Roulette. Even though no real money changed hands, the feeling was just as exciting as a trip to an old, hidden casino. Everyone was dressed up which only added to the vibe.We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and highly recommend the Speakeasy for a perfectly entertaining evening! More...
You'll have a great time at The Speakeasy; it's definitely worth going to at least once. I went with my husband, and we had fun prowling around, but I noticed the big groups seemed to have an especially raucous evening, so I would recommend it if you have guests from out of town, or want to do something special for a birthday. It is kind of pricey, but I think you get a lot for your money, as the show runs pretty long, and you can visit different rooms. (Hint: keep moving around, because things are going on everywhere.) There are loads of performers and acts to watch. Be aware that the authors put a little undercurrent of darkness into the show; it's not all fringed dresses and drinking. Cheapster tip: you can get some non-alcoholic stuff that annoyingly is not listed on the menu. I got really thirsty for something non-dehydrating, so I asked for soda water, and they happily brought it in a big beer mug, and it was only $4.72 including the service charge; a lot cheaper than the cocktails. I do get the impression the show is purposely designed to get repeat customers by not revealing everything on a first visit. It's hard to see everything; we found out later that there were whole storylines going on that we missed, and we never found out the fates of some of the characters, so that was a little unsatisfying. But I can't fault the organizers for wanting to keep the business going whatever way they can; it's tough to do professional theater in San Francisco. I'm taking one star off for a few things I didn't like, such as anachronisms (I can't quite figure out why they specifically set the show in 1923 when they clearly wanted to use styles and events from later in the decade, and they also threw in a few things from beyond the 20's), but most people will find the show creates a satisfying world that's fun to visit. Best show ever! Unique! A must!!! You feel like back in the days. I was against this dress code and embarrassed at first, but when you go with the flow it's actually really nice!
This was one of the best events I've attended in SF. I really don't know what took me so long. I can't go too much in depth because I really don't want to spoil it. Just a few things.. make sure to DRESS UP. You don't want to be the odd one out who isn't dressed up like the Roaring 20's. Many people were dressed up down to the T so be prepared. This isn't a place where you can socialize and have a few drinks with friends. I did go with a group of 12. It's doable and we all still had fun, but this is a speakeasy so make sure to behave and speak speakeasy. The actors were WONDERFUL!!!!! We had more than enough time to go in all the rooms. Drinks were a tad bit overpriced, but they were definitely strong. The décor was so detailed and stayed true to the era. I'm so glad that I got to experience this and would HIGHLY recommend!! More...
Absolutely loved every detail and highly recommend!
We went on Sat Feb 17, this was Soo much fun. The whole experience was top knotch! A must to check out
Truly an outstanding experience. I felt as though I was transported back to the roaring 1920s for the evening. The actors were fantastic and the dialogue and topics they discussed felt realistic and were often hilarious. It is well worth the effort to dress the part, as it will help you suspend disbelief and immerse yourself in your environment.I will definitely return. Kudos to everyone at the Speakeasy for creating a memorable experience. More...
My husband and I did this for our anniversary. It was really fun, we were seated in the bar to start, then saw the cabaret show. Spent a little time in the casino. It was fun to try and follow the storyline. We only stayed until 10:30 or so and still thought it was worth the price. They really play up the mystery of the location. One of our best date nights in a long time! More...
It was so much fun! And we definitely gonna go back there soon in the future, cause it's almost impossible to follow all the story lines in one night, and we want to know. Since it's pricy, so we will keep it as a treat to special occasions. More...

Such a great experience. I totally recommend it. Follow the story of Jimmy!!
Such a unique and entertaining experience! I’ve had the pleasure of going three times now and it’s been a pleasure every time. The drinks are great and the actors are fantastic. The details in the various rooms and he actors interactions with each other and with guests go a long way to create an immersive atmosphere that really transports you back to the 1920’s for an incredible night. Definitely one of the best experiences of my life. I can or recommend it enough. More...
I was so impressed and enchanted with this amazing, physically beautiful production. It's a fun adventure, even starting on the streetcorners where you have to meet people to send you to the right location, because you already have a sense of complicity with random other people on the street who are dressed up in 20s garb just to see a show. You start picking out people dining in restaurants pre-show in their fringed dresses and cupid's bow lipstick. Once inside, the drinks are excellent and strong, and about 8 zillion story lines emerge and you can only follow so many-- I already can't wait to go back and make some other choices in what I follow. More...

Very fun and entertaining evening! Dressing up and getting into character as the evening progressed was really fun! Only suggestion for the Speakeasy is to add more waitress'/waiters so we can gets drinks faster and with greater ease.

Had a great time with family and friends. Probably the most fun theater experience I have ever had.
If I told you it would spoil the amazing experience who are guaranteed to enjoy!
Super fun and it’s pretty neat how they have multiple simultaneous stories going at once. The theater, bar and casino are the main areas but the backstage dressing room is where most of the drama takes place. The cast was excellent. I’d say the only criticism I have is that it is confusing initially what your objective is. We were seated in the theater first but didn’t realize until an hour and a half later that there were other rooms to explore. And by the time I got to the casino, a plot point shut down the casino before I would lose all my funny money. Not a huge deal. They do try to immerse you in the story as many audience members are actually cast members. More...
One of the greatest theater experiences I've ever had. I could go again and again and again! You really get immersed in the era. Went to Speakeasy for the first time last Sunday and had so much fun. It's such a unique experience. My friends and I really felt transported to a San Francisco in 1923. The acting and singing are first rate and the setting is amazing. The attention to detail of all the rooms is spectacular. We started in the Cabernet, migrated to the casino and ended in the bar. Sometimes it was a little hard to follow the narrative but we were still able to get into the character stories. Our servers were attentive and pleasant, even with all the chaos of the show happening around them. I didn't want the night to end. I am already planning to go again. I hope it runs forever. More...
There is NOTHING like this show! Before we even got in the venue, we were invited into the world of The Speakeasy - the glamour, glitz, grit, and grime. It felt super fun to be "in" on it all (and dressed the part, too!) - as if we had a secret from others walking around North Beach - and it made for a playful date night. Once inside, we were totally swept away. The characters' stories were thoughtful and engaging, and the acting was superb. We didn't know who to follow as the night unfolded! You could see this show 30 times and pick up something new each time. Keep an eye out for secret rooms and passageways - magic abounds here and the place is full of surprises! We'll be going back for sure. More...
Last night was our third time at the Speakeasy. Every time a different experience, a different storyline, a different discovery. Our night at the speakeasy was like stepping into an alternate Universe. We were drawn in and enraptured by the stories, and in Love with all of the characters -- we didn't know who to follow down which rabbit whole. We can't wait to go back for more!

I loves The Speakeasy SF. Its a unique experience and great for a date night or special occasion. It's set up like a 1920's speakeasy but has many different rooms that you can explore. There is a casino, cabaret and saloon. We spent about 4 hours here just drinking great cocktails and enjoying the performances of the actors. We didn't realize how dressed up people would be but definitely get into character and take a step back in time. Highly recommend! More...
I came here last night with a group of 3. The overall experience was great and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to do something new and fun. I am always looking to try new things and go new places in the city. I found this place while searching a bit online. After you buy the tickets they email you a "secret location" to meet and try in several ways to keep it as authentic as possible to the 1920's era while still having fun and giving them reasons to charge you $$$.Pros:There are three main rooms to explore and 3 smaller ones. Each room has its own "show" going on and you are free to come and go as you please.Cocktail attire and or 1920s attire is required but 98% of the people there were in 1920s and really got into the process. It was an overall good time and a step away from a normal night out. It was a semi unique experience and the shows were entertaining.Cons:We started in the casino where they took our coats and gave us the house rules. Besides the rules we were not given much information on how to best experience the evening. Since you are free to come and go and the shows are all going on at once we were not really sure if the story was rotating or if the same story went from start to finish in each room. As we moved about we always had a bit of fomo either of our story not being over or what we may be missing in the next. As I got to some places it seemed that the stories may have been connected but I still do not know if we stayed in the right places for the right amount of time if we would have seen an entire show sequentially the way they meant for us to see it.Price: the show prices range and the drinks do as well which you would expect but since they make you create a tab ahead of time by the end of the night you may not know exactly how much you are spending. I don't mind paying for those but the things that bother me a bit are the $10 fee for casino chips (which seem like part of the showing since you are paying for the experience and you should play a little) and the $35 fee for the photo. Towards the end of the night after a few drinks and seeing most of the show we came across a line of people and of course we had to ask what for. They said it was a photo and since you are not allowed to bring phones inside we thought why not. Little did we know after a 15 minute line commitment we were waiting for a $35 black and white 5x7 (only 1 pic for 3 girls). All in all I would recommend but I do not feel the need to go back unless another group of friends really wanted to check it out. I would suggest dressing up and making the most of it. More...
Wonderful experience. Came here for a friend's birthday not knowing what to expect. What an amazing experience ! Extra special birthday for husband. I got totally involved. I will be back!
Absolutely fabulous. A must do! We have been a few times now and every time we experience something we didn't the time before. Such a great night!
The Speakeasy SF is a great immersive theater experience with three areas: a bar (alcohol), cabaret show, and casino. I went with a group of 7 for a bachelor and bachelorette party, and we had a unique and memorable experience. Tickets are prepurchased. One day before the event, you'll get an email with the location and instructions to gain access to the exclusive 1920's club. Dress code requires appropriate vintage wear. No t-shirts, sneakers, or jeans. There is also no cell phone access once you go inside. Minus 1 star for lack of flexibility. In light of the theater portion in all 3 areas, you're really prevented from enjoying the casino or the bar experience.TIPS. - Look for discount tickets @ TodayTix app or website. - Take group photos earlier in the night as they take time to print. Photo booth may be found by the casino. - Start at the bar if you can. It's a great way to get introduced in the beginning. Once that's done, you can determine your own schedule at the cabaret and casino. More...

What a great, unique experience. Nowadays, the true sign of an "exclusive" event is when you have to give up your phone, so you know you're in for some cool shit. The Speakeasy is an immersive, detailed venue depicting a 1920s Speakeasy (illegal club serving alcohol during Prohibition). There's 3 main areas that you can move among and there's "scenes" happening in each of them throughout the show. MOVE AROUND! You will have a much better time if you explore and follow characters IMO. There's multiple different "storylines" going on but no overarching "main story" that I could tell. It's mainly character development and interaction. Interactivity - Not super high simply because there's so many ppl in the audience BUT you get out what you put in. If you're game and you respond well or even take initiative with talking to cast members, then you can have some fun, unique "scenes". Make up your own character and interact with cast as if they are who they're portraying and you'll have a blast! More...
They worked out my bad billing situation with a quick phone call.
Had a great time last year, would love to get back!
This is the most amazing evening (3 times so far ! ) I have ever spent. This show is breathtaking, and deserves to be a very permanent part of the SF theater scene. I got a secret password. I dressed in pearls. I 86'd my cell phone. I met a gal in a doorway in North Beach. I followed a map. And I was literally immersed into a Prohibition-era speakeasy : a casino, a cabaret, a bar. The amazing action took place all around me, and sometimes...I was the action. The cast is top-rate, the sheer jaw-dropping entertainment is non-stop. You never see the same show twice - which explains my seeing it again and again. Posiitively the best theater experience SF has to offer. I just can't urge you enough to see this show. Seriously. Someone else wanted to go, and I reluctantly tagged along. After 3+ hours of immersive theater and amazing creativity I was amazed and wanted to return to see some of what I'd missed. To tell you the story would be impossible. Each area, each person, each interaction is happening simultaneously and you can't be everywhere at once - and you don't need to be. There's the amazing stuff happening in front of you, and the stuff you KNOW is happening in the other areas. But you can't leave where you are because you might miss something...Strong recommendation. These folks have created a fantastic experience. And Johnny told me I was pretty good at being Rudy Valentino. Thanks, bub. More...
Absolutely the most fun night I've had in San Francisco. The entertainment is spectacular, and it's the closest you'll ever get to time travel.
The Speakeasy is a unique experience. Self-described as an "immersive theater" says it all. Great attention to detail with dozens of performers recreate a 1923 San Francisco speakeasy where alcohol and gambling are offered in this hidden lounge. Don't let its subterranean location fool you - this is a classy gin-joint. I had expected this would be a lighter entertainment fare - wrong. Aside from the cabaret, little frivolity exists. From snitty showgirls to WWI veterans, we see into the souls of our grandparents' generation. We found four major sections of the Speakeasy: we were directed at first to the bar ("escorted" ticket), then moved through the casino to the cabaret, then hung out in the parlor. A hidden door takes us into a secret room with a two-way mirror and speaker, allowing us to observe behind the scenes of a 1920s makeup/dressing room. Everywhere you wander, expect a show of some sort. A place for photos is said to exist, but we never saw it.Precise details are down to the tin-tile ceiling and vintage cocktails (Chris had a "Corpse Reviver" and I a "Vieux Carre"). Chris dressed to the "nines" with her flapper dress. This may or may not have been the reason she got a rare personal interaction with a performer. My guess is that over half of the guests did their best to costume up for the occasion. I highly recommend it. If you go with a group, agree to breakup into couples and venture off on your own. It was a long show, a tad over 3 1/2 hours - you get your money's worth. We parked at the North Beach Garage, 745 Vallejo St. (the competitor across the street has poor reviews and may not be open that late). The parking garage is but two blocks away from the secret location. I can envision us going again - not this year, but later on. Wayne J. Aug. 18, 2017 More...
We've been a couple of times. We celebrated Jason's 21st there, too. Things were going great, and then ... 23 skidoo!
My bf and I attended for our first time last Saturday. I recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time. I called the box office and got last minute tickets which caused a few problems but the staff were able to sort it out. We had general tickets for the casino and accidentally got admitted into the cabaret but we were escorted by a staff member to the casino after checking in at the cabaret. We were greeted by what turns out to be the actual club owner (after doing more research about the club). He helped us get in contact with the prop rental gal (I forget her name) to rent accessories for my bf (bow tie, suspenders, and hat) who was very helpful and friendly. After watching others gamble for a bit, the show got under way. The casino has a few fun characters and we got pulled into their story (maybe they picked up on our mentioning it was our first time?). We wandered and caught a good bit of those characters by happy accident.Next time I think I want to start in the bar. We didn't end up finding the secret area to watch the dressing room scenes until the end so we definitely need to watch in there earlier in the night. I think there are some other hidden areas we didn't find, but I can't find any hints in other reviews as to what secret areas to look for. If you know please pm me :) More...
I had an amazing time! I've seen a lot of unconventional theater, but I'd never been to an immersive production before. I was totally blown away.A few notes:I got my tickets using the TodayTix app, and they were WAY cheaper that way. (Still a bit of a splurge, but not nearly as much as the face value.) You can only book up to a week or two in advance, but it seems like they almost always have tickets if you check the weekend before you plan on going. You also don't get to choose your starting location like you would if you bought them on the website, but the box office was happy to oblige when I called the day before and asked to be seated in the cabaret. That said, the starting location doesn't matter all that much. I requested the cabaret because I was worried I wouldn't get to see it otherwise, but there were plenty of open seats throughout the night. After the first forty minutes or so, you can spend as much time as you want in any of the other areas.I was surprised by how much of the action took place outside of the "main" rooms. I'd recommend spending some time exploring the hallways, because you'll likely come across a secret room or a scene you'd otherwise miss. Unless you make a point of following one particular storyline, you're going to get bits and pieces of a lot of storylines. I thought this would be confusing, but the story arcs were surprisingly easy to follow even if you miss some parts. The drinks are expensive, but good. I had a Manhattan and a Velvet Sea, and really liked them both. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's best to eat before you get there. The food is really pricey if you want anything more than a small snack.I was a little skeptical about the no phones rule, but I didn't miss my phone at all. (For those who are wondering, they make you keep all electronics in a sealed bag.) It really added to the authenticity of the night, and anyway, you wouldn't have your phone out during a more conventional theater performance, would you?Stay until the end. I don't want to give away the ending, but it's worth staying for. More...
Immersive theatre is a rare experience, and I have never seen it done so well as this.

So much fun! Great way to spend an evening with friends! Intriguing, suspenseful, an experience from the roaring 1920s. Be sure to dress the part.
My sister and cousin were in town so I wanted to take them both, was worried because my cousin is 16, but she barely made the age limit to get in which was amazing! We all got super dolled up and loved the theme. Overall I think that this is a show/event that you have to come to a dozen times because there is so much to see and do that you can't see everything in one night, but you can try. One of the cast members advised us to try to move rooms around every 10 minutes and to split up from each other and he had the right idea! Splitting up let us all see different things and at the end of the night we all huddled around and talked about what we saw when we were away with each other. I was astounded of the level of acting that went on throughout the night. It takes an amazing cast to keep up their characters for hours when you are in an interactive stage in multiple rooms, but this event did it well. I don't want to spoil much, because what is the fun in that, but I do think it would have helped to know a few things before buying your tickets. 1. Choose your starting room carefully. That room will decided where you start your night. We started with the Cabernet and spent roughly 30-40 minutes there. Very burlesque overall in this room.2. If you choose the Cabernet, you can choose the booths (which is very exclusive), but online you will need to pay I think ~$20 per person for the booth for the first hour. We had three people so it was $60 for the 1 hour. If the 20 is too much I would recommend getting a table for the Cab since it will most likely put you close to the stage.3. WEAR A WATCH. In order to keep the event a hush hush, you aren't allowed to use your phone for the entire event. You have to turn your electronics off and put them in a brown bag before you even are allowed in. We didn't wear a watch and we had no idea what time it was the entire night until the end of the event. 4. Keep in mind, the show doesn't stop or repeat. During the event my group thought that each room would have a "show" and we would be able to get to see them all. Totally wrong, as the night goes in the characters develop and we learn more about them. My recommendation is to find a character you like and follow them! It's fun and you get to see all about them. 5. You need to set up your bar tab at least noon of the event. They don't do a cash/card bar at the event so you have to set up a tab beforehand if you want anything during the event. They had complimentary water next to the bar, but it is a long event and you might get thirsty for more than water. If you do want to try something, TRY THE VELVET SEA! Super sweet and yummy. I loved it! At the end of the night your tab goes directly on your card with an 18% tip and they email you the receipt.6. Eat ahead of time. You are in SF, food is a plenty. I recommend eating in the area and walking to the event. If you are driving, the area gets difficult to find parking so make extra time to find parking. Most metered stop at 6 pm, well before the event starts. More...
AMAZING!!! Completely exceeded my expectations. Super cool experience. I actually felt like I was in the 1920's. Dressing up is a must!
You pay for the experience. I love that it's mandatory to dress up and you have to place your phone in a brown bag. I truly felt like I stepped back in time. The drinks were good and had lots of variety. I would eat before because the food isn't up to SF's "norm" of excellence. The cast stayed in character 100% of the time so much so that patrons start developing their own stories too. More...
What a great experience and such a great idea. This interactive play is immersive and feels like you are stepping back into time. You don't know what to expect and I can see how it would be different every time you visit. Michael at the roulette table (7/8/17) was a great teacher of roulette and black jack. The premise is a little confusing, but now I know what to expect so I'd definitely go back and follow the characters. More...
Like Westworld, but in a speakeasy and minus the immortal robots. The depth of the storytelling is mind-boggling -- you can spend the whole night trying to follow every word and still miss two thirds of the drama. But you can also kick back, gamble, and get sauced like an old-school hedonist. Either way, best night out in San Francisco you'll have in a long time! More...
I knew this was going to be good because I know some of the people in it, but it exceeded my already high expectations. I would definitely go back because I'm sure I didn't even capture half of what was going on.The level of detail in everything was superb, and I even felt like I learned something after witnessing what I'm sure were very well-researched stories. It wasn't just kitsch. This isn't your typical "Gatsby" or "1920s" party that throws some black and gold decorations up and plays some jazz mixed in with modern music. This is the real deal. More...
This was the most memorable and fun things I've ever done with my friends. Scenes are being played around you, so go to room to room and enjoy the action. Separate from your friends and drink the velvet sea cocktail! More...
I have been lucky enough to visit the Speakeasy almost half a dozen times in it's various incarnations around San Francisco over the past few years. It is a superlative interactive and theatrical extravaganza! I still don't think I have caught all the storylines and threads, even by coming in at different times and entrance choices. This night out is a fantastic reason to get gussied up dapper and flapper style, have dinner in North Beach, and drink great cocktails. Maybe one more than you should have, but just one more ;-) The space has been built out and the whole show designed impeccably. I am a connoisseur of great things to do in San Francisco, and The Speakeasy is high on my list. I already have plans to go back, and will do so every once in a while, for as long as I can. Hopefully I'll see you there! More...
I don't know where to start! This event is the largest production I have ever been lucky enough to experience. It doesn't matter if you are on a first date, rekindling the romance in a stale relationship, celebrating an event, or just going out with friends, this is a Five-Star all-around experience. Deciding what ticket to buy and following the instructions for payment and getting there can be a little confusing - but you will be incredibly pleased with how your efforts pay off. So just suck it up. SF Speakeasy is pioneering a new form of submersible entertainment. Get on board now with the original. You'll be happy you did. More...
An amazing experience! I highly recommend this for anyone looking to try something new. You are taken back to 1923 and you follow the stories of these characters who bring you into the show. I loved it and can't wait to do it again. More...
Super impressed with this production! The actors, the set, the music, the singing were all terrific! Go experience this! Grab a drink, bet your hand on roulette, watch some great singing and dancing, and try to get swept up by one of the performers. A job very well done! More...
Wow - what a great experience. The venue, the setup, the story lines, the acting, even the logistics were all excellent. I highly recommend this and will definitely go back. More...

What an amazing experience, every moment, costume, object, and room was so fully realized! A must do for anyone! I got pretty good at Black Jack too!
My husband and I came to SF for our honeymoon. I have always wanted to go to a real speakeasy. A local told us about Speakeasy SF and we were thrilled with our experience. From the moment I began my ticket purchase to the end of the night, they really get into 1920s characters and they don't waiver. We had to get a password and meet a character in an alley for our tickets. From there they give you directions to the joint. We didn't pack any 20s regalia but they will hook you up as you walk in. I wore a simple knit black dress and they gave me some beads and a feather headband thing. It worked. You pick your "opening act" either drama, comedy, or spectacle. My husband wanted the drama one. It was good but a little dry. Next time we'll pick comedy or spectacle. When the opening act is finished you are led to the "Palace" for the rest of your show. You feel like you are part of the show because some of the scenes are happening at the table next to you. It was like nothing we've ever experienced and we just loved it! More...
WOW! It was one of the best experiences in my entire life!!! Really enjoyed everything: talented actors, singers, and dancers, how management has such great attention to detail, the whole idea of this theater! It WAS AMAZING! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PUTTING IT TOGETHER AND THANK YOU FOR SUCH A WONDERFUL IDEA!!! More...
What an amazing experience! It works best in a group setting, because you can all meet up afterwards and try to piece the various storylines together based on what each person saw. I wouldn't fault anyone for just going back multiple times and catching the different rooms and characters at different times, though; there's enough nuance, detail, and "ohhh!" moments to last many repeat viewings.Overall an amazing, one-of-a-kind, and unforgettable experience. It should be on everyone's San Francisco Bucket List. (Pro-tip: bring friends from out of town to make them jealous that they can only see it once! :D) More...
My friends and I had a wonderful night at the Speakeasy! You really feel like you're transported back in time to the 1920's. The details of the location were amazing and the actors were excellent. There was a good balance of comedy and drama. Make sure to look for the hidden doors! I would recommend dressing up in 20's fashion to truly feel like you're part of that time. If you appreciate old movies and classic Hollywood glamour or just history, this is a place to go. More...
Great shows great casts.
Check out The Speakeasy SF and Club 1923 don't miss this experience

Amazing night out. So unique and so ENTERTAINING!

Sharing my Yelp review here: This is one of the most unique and magical experiences - theatrical or otherwise - that I've had anywhere. And as far as I'm concerned, it's worth every penny of the ticket price, hands down. I attended The Speakeasy once last year in previews and just experienced it again last night. I'm absolutely blown away at the detail and the array of talent that goes into this huge and multi-faceted production. It's an incredible space with multiple rooms where great attention to detail and design has clearly been given, being as true as possible to how these rooms (right down to the bathrooms!) would have looked in the 1920s. There are some fantastic actors, singers, dancers, musicians, and performers, and it blows me away how they can keep going despite the fact that, no doubt, every performance has its new challenges because the audience is so unpredictable. It can be a bit difficult to get a sense of a story line (mainly because it's so fun to just wander around and because it can be challenging to follow the characters when the place is so full of happy people milling about everywhere), but that really doesn't bother me because my favorite part is the very real feeling of being transported into another time and soaking up the feeling of being in the 1920s. It's magical, and when it was over I didn't want it to end, but I knew the actors (and crew/staff) must be exhausted -- we were in there for three and a half hours or so! If I can attempt to sum it up, I would say it's part "Chicago (the musical)," part Charlie Chaplin, part vaudeville, part "The Godfather," part "Bugsy Malone," part "Funny Girl," part Disneyland, part "Cabaret (the musical)," and 100% fun and magical, intriguing, and entertaining. The first time in, it'll knock your socks off (it sure did mine!). Second time, you have a better understanding of how it all works, and you can really start to sink your teeth in (and it likely will still knock your socks off!). I look forward to going again. Great for tourists and visitors to the great city of SF (the story lines are geared towards what really was happening in SF in the 1920s), locals, theater goers, non-theater goers, young and old alike. I highly recommend it and hope it will continue to run for a long, long time. More...
A great evening out with friends! You get to be apart of an entire night full of drama, fun, laughter, great cocktails! I would go back again!
The second best thing I saw while in SF for three months. Number one was some derelict filling a syringe with heroin.
One of the best experiences, if not the best experience, I have had in the last decade.
My husband planned this event as we were celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary, traveling from San Diego! We took the suggestion of visiting "Decades of Fashion" and found the genuine deal of clothing attire! Dressed like the women and men of the 20s, was just the start! Not going to give up all the details you will experience with this event, just know it's theatrical and the experience...is LIVING the moment! I felt like I jumped into a time-machine and experienced the era of time when prohibition was knocking on the door! Oh, I have to HINT to the door upon door of events you will walk into...OK enough said...! More...
Absolutely a must see! I can't stop thinking about it! Love that they have the different prices so it's accessible. We also very much appreciated that they addressed some tough subject matter in the dialogue & it wasn't all glam & booze. We'll be back!
This is truly immersive theater. We had so much fun we'll definitely return.
All other reviewers were spot on about the details of this experience although it definitely was not the night of my life. It was entertaining and something to experience, but I'm not sure I would ever do it again. I did appreciate how organized and seamless the night seemed. Do not buy extra seats for the cabaret as you can sit there anytime you want. Our drinks were super strong (14 each). We started in the casino which was pretty cool. Don't buy too many chips as you may not have enough time to use them. Definitely dress up. That's part of the whole experience. Do a little bit of research to find out what people wore in the 20s if you don't know. It says cocktail attire but it really is better if you dress in 20s style. I don't know. I could take it or leave it. It was like meh to me. More...
It was a fun experience but have to downgrade them for overcharging me for drinks. You basically run a tab and they charge your credit card and email you the bill so the waitress thought the lady sitting next to my husband was with us so her wine ended up on my tab! I am trying to get it fixed but if you decide to go would make sure you only pay for what you really did drink!A!so don't bother with the wine- it does taste like it was made in the basement. The cocktails are much better!I have amended my rating as they did get back to me and have corrected the bill. Thank you! More...
Definitely one of the coolest experiences I've had, especially since I've never been to an immersive play before! We started out in the cabaret after meeting our mystery gal and getting the secret instructions to the venue, and had a great time. The actors are all so talented and really make you feel like you're at a 1920s Speakeasy. There are three large rooms (the bar, the casino, and the cabaret) and many smaller rooms to observe (manager's office, dressing room, parlor, lots of hallways/stairwells). Of all the rooms, I best liked the cabaret--it's definitely the most entertaining of all the rooms, and the comic actors, musicians, and dancers make for a great show. Everyone makes an effort to dress appropriately for the period (although if you don't have flapper garb, a normal cocktail attire is fine too) which makes the experience even more fun. However, the price of the ticket at $75 didn't really pay off--the play, while entertaining, was hard to follow and didn't provide a lot of intrigue or plot that made you want to stay until the very end. There's a few "plotlines" (read: characters that you can follow) but nothing really went anywhere or culminated in anything. It's definitely more of a place to just sit back and observe and slowly learn "secrets" through eavesdropping than an actual narrative. The drinks were something terrible--even a basic gin and tonic or moscow mule tasted flavorless and bad. I didn't like their specialty cocktails either. The bubbly cocktail just tasted like tart champagne, and the velvet sea was strangely watery (although it's their most popular). You also have to be careful that others aren't accidentally included on your tab (you don't get the bill until a few days after). Definitely eat before you come, and definitely don't bother with the overpriced snacks. Tea sandwiches I think are only available in the Cabaret. But since people don't come here for the food (obviously), this shouldn't impact your opinion too much.Tips:- There are secret rooms (a closet, for example) that you can go into but only if invited. - Try to see if you can get a "mission" from a cast member. We were given the task of delivering a lost cuff link to "Tom" which was pretty fun, since we got to interact with the actors.- Explore all the rooms! Some of the most interesting ones are the dressing room and parlor--sometimes even the hallways and staircases will have scenes.- Skip the drinks and snacks. More...

Great fun, excellent theater- like nothing you've ever done before! We can't wait to go back and bring more friends along.
My friends and I went for a friend's birthday and had a wonderful time! It was a unique and fun experience! We loved the way everyone stayed in character! Reading the reviews on Yelp are very helpful if you want to know what to expect and what to do and what not to do!I do want to point out to make sure you take a hand bag big enough to stash your cell phone since it has to be put into a manilla type envelope (I had a small flapper purse). I did end loosing my brand new phone inside but FORTUNATELY the staff found it and returned it to me! I was so appreciative of their honesty! More...
Amazing time! Compelling, unique, fascinating, fun... highly recommend it. Details not forthcoming; that would spoil it.
Absolutely amazing! The ambiance and cast were fantastic. Guests dress enough in period clothing it was difficult to figure out who was part of the show...until someone got punched in the face. I'm looking forward to visiting again More...
Amazing performances, great settings, and excellent service.
Fantastic immersive experience. Loved all the story plots and I'd love to go back and follow some of the other threads. Highly recommended!
Westworld meets boardwalk empire minus the whole murder eachother part. Though, it's really unlike anything I've witnessed.
Unfortunately the police raid ended our night early. What a fantastic evening! We'll certainly attend again when the heats off. Thanks for creating such a wonderful birthday for my husband... see you all soon at the Clock Shop. More...
