Josh the bartender was amazing. He made sure I knew all about their selections, curated some delicious cocktails and answered all of my questions. This place is great for a casual date or for some serious eats. I also plan to pop in at the bar for some chill times during these hot sweltering summers. Good work team! More...

While vacationing in Los Angeles, we found this little gemafter leaving Universal CityWalk. The food was pretty good. I was surprised by the bread the sandwiches were served on. It was a little too much bread. I'm accustomed to the regular buns. The cole slaw...NO! I like vinegar based cole slaw usually but not so much here. The cornbread muffins (served warm) were very good. I appreciated the aesthetics of the restaurant, very masculine. Forgot to take pictures, but decent presentation of food. More...

I happened to be craving BBQ late Saturday night and had been following Boneyard Bistro on Instagram for quite some time now so I found this to be a good opportunity to visit as they stay open pretty late on the weekends. We ordered Brussel Sprouts as an appetizer and they were amazing. They were crispy and the burrata cheese just adds a whole another level of flavor. My whiskey sour was also yummy and sipped on it throughout my meal because I didn't want it to end. For my entree, I got the half rack of baby back ribs with a side of fried mac and cheese. My boyfriend ordered the pulled chicken with sweet potato fries. The pork came right off the bone and my plate came with a saucer of BBQ sauce. At first I thought it was a small amount of food for $25 but I was nice and full once I finished off my plate. My boyfriend also enjoyed his pulled bbq chicken. We both cleaned our plates. If we're craving BBQ, we'll definitely be back. Valet parking is offered but because we arrived after 8 pm on a Saturday night, there was some street parking nearby as the meters aren't on after 8 pm. More...

This was an excellent experience from start to finish. Food was amazing and service was impeccable. I would definitely recommend reservations, though we were able to get a high table for two as walk-ins. Boneyard has a huge selection of beers (and some ciders) on draft. Boneyard BIstro makes a great selection of barbecue, with generous portions of meltingly tender meat. My friend and I had the 3 meats (brisket, pulled pork with coleslaw, and tri-tip). The collard greens were great, as was the fried mac & cheese nuggets. More...

Came here with a friend after a rough day at work and boy did it cure my blues. I'm a huge steak person and haven't found a steak place in LA yet that compares to some of the steakhouses back home in Detroit. Their steak options are heavy and are served in large portions ... just my style :) The atmosphere is warm and lively. I got the french onion soup steak (not sure of its proper name) and it was SO good. I've never had anything like it and it hit the spot. If you love good meat and good beer, I suggest Boneyard. This my favorite tri-tip and ribs restaurant. Love their crispy take on mac and cheese. Robust wine and beer selection include fantastic options if you want to try the beer flight. Great cocktails including a traditional moscow mule. The owners are down-to-earth good people, who shared how the business got its start with my partner and I during one visit. The place is classy casual. More...

Dinner before the show last night. We shared an appetizer that was a special they were fried dates with cheese and spices inside came with a spicy sauce on the side, the dates were very good. I had pan seared trout  with caper chimichurri, wilted spinach  and sour cream and chive mashed potatoes  All was excellent. Yum  My friend had a giant OMG burger . Her coleslaw was very good it had cilantro in it. She enjoyed her meal also. We shared a banana  crème brûlée for dessert  it was delicious tons of banana very creamy! Very nice place great, service, close to the Whitefire theater  They have valet parking for six dollars but we went on a Monday and found parking on the street Metered until 8pm. More...

Everything we ordered was delicious... got the prime rib steak with asparagus and onion rings as well as a small plate of beef ribs with fried Mac and Cheese. Also ordered the bacon blocks appetizer, which was so fricken good!  Aside from that, we ordered a beer and a mixed drink (forgot what it was called, but it had habanero in it and was spicy). Everything tasted so good. We are already planning to return here on a Monday to try out their Nashville chicken (Monday special).  The bill for all that food (which could've easily fed 3 people) came to $103... not bad considering the portion sizes and quality of the food. I've been here 4 or 5 times and the food is usually always good. The last time I went though the food was meh. I think because we came 30mins before closing and I could tell the kitchen staff wanted to get out of there. Which is fine i can understand this. I've worked in a restaurant before so i get it. But my one real gripe with this place are the cocktails. They are always pretty terrible. I enjoy an old fashioned while eating bbq, but they cant ever get it right. Either too much whiskey or not enough. Very strange. They have a pretty large list of drinks and i've tried just about all their signature cocktails when i go, but always pretty bad. So i recommend this place for bbq, but make sure you come at a good time. Also just avoid the drinks. Unless youre getting a beer. More...

GREAT food!$18 for brisket sandwich with one side (same price for the small brisket plate so with the sandwich you basically get the bread, a good French roll, for free).  Order "standard" vs lean for more flavor in the brisket. Marbled but not too fatty. Baked beans are really good and decent in size for a side.  The slaw is just so-so. Each meal comes with a basket of bread and yummy mini corn muffins. The burgers are HUGE!!Service is really good (Walker is great)!A little loud but festive. More...

Fabulous ambience! On a early Friday night 8pm-10pm. Dined with friends my sister and my son! Seemed family friendly for the time we were there. I was definitely comfortable having my kid there! Started off with the hush puppies and beet salad. The hush puppies are a must! The beet salad looked awesome but was not that great. Then for my entree I had the trout and it was pretty good. They had brought it out on a bed of mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. The only part of the entree I would change is the mashed potatoes, as they were a bit too watery. Boneyard has continued to be one of our favorite restaurants on the Ventura Blvd strip. We have been numerous times over the years for dinners, happy hours, date nights, etc. and most recently, celebrated my birthday with a quiet dinner with family there this past week. As always, the Boneyard staff is welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable and the food is just incredible. The bacon building blocks are still one of my favorites on the menu, and my family loved all of their respective entrees. They still have one of my favorite Old Fashioned's and I just can't say enough good things about them. We will continue to be loyal customers! More...

I've somehow passed this restaurant a million times and never noticed the gigantic "BBQ" sign... but my husband ended up there with some friends a while back and wanted me to experience the "amazing bbq" so here we landed on Saturday night. It was packed so I was glad we had a reservation and highly encourage others to do the same. I tried the Bibb salad while the hubs got the "bacon blocks" (I was curious about these since they didn't really have a description on the menu). Both were good, but nothing to write home about. The salad had a unique taste to it which I think was coming from the dressing. I didn't love it but it was edible, but that's probably my mistake ordering a salad at a bbq joint LOL. The bacon blocks were just that...two gigantic rhinos of pork smothered in bbq sauce. They were good, but just good. For our main entrees I went with the prime rib melt, which came with fries and the hubs got chicken and bbq ribs with a side of fried mac & cheese. My sandwich was absolutely delicious! The bread was soft yet crispy and there was a solid presence of thinly sliced prime rib and melted Gruyere. The ribs had a really nice dry rub on them and were cooked well but there was a little too much gristle on them. The chicken was phenomenal though, fall off the bone juicy. And those fried Mac & cheese bites...DANGEROUS. For dessert we shared the cheesecake and what was like a warm pear crisp w/vanilla ice cream. They were both definitely tasty but my fav was the cheesecake. More...

Boneyard Bistro has one of the best Nashville hot chicken sandwiches around...  some friends and I have been all over,  tried bangin bunz,  Dave's hot chicken,  Hawaiian hot chicken,  the only place we haven't been is howlin rays so can't speak for that yet but boneyard trumps the rest.  If you are here on a Monday or past 10pm any other day when they serve late night snacks it would be a crime not to try their Nashville hot chicken.  They have a solid beer list as well and I've always had stand up service. Attempting to prove that we were not too old to go out on New Years Eve yet just old enough to not want spend a small fortune for the honor of being surrounded by drunk revelers we set out down Ventura Blvd searching for food and drink. My partner found Boneyard Bistro online being close we stopped in they were able to seat us the place was mostly full and being served by some of the biggest WWE stars... well okay the waitstaff was dressed as wrestlers. Turns out the chef does a theme menu ever NYE which I think is cool. Prices were good and they had these mini cornbread muffins that mocked my poor attempt at making the same, wish mine were as good. Food was good, if I was going to have one small complaint is that I thought my order was a bit on the small side but i did notice other selects had rather large portions, knew I should have ordered the ribs. We will definitely stop in again on another day. More...

While this place is exorbitantly overpriced, it sure is delicious. The brussel sprouts are pretty much my favorite of all time. Many of the flavors are creative and a pleasant surprise, BBQ certainly has a lot of time and effort put into it. Overall it is always a hit, but even as delicious as the food is, it's still overpriced which is unfortunate as I would love to eat here more often! More...

Came here this past weekend for dinner with family. Overall, it was a great restaurant with good food and yummy drinks. Ambiance: This place has a great atmosphere and vibe. I like how the inside is decorated and I feel that it fits well with their menu. Very trendy decorations throughout. This is a loud restaurant, so if you are looking for something quiet then this probably is not the place for you.Food: The food here was very good. We got a giant bbq plate for all of us to share. I did feel like some of the meats were a tad dry (tri tip), but the St. Louis ribs were delicious. I wasn't a fan of the bbq sauce, but the potato salad was excellent and I liked the coleslaw too.Drinks: If you're a whiskey drinker, I would definitely recommend coming here for a drink. Their whiskey list is one of the biggest I've ever seen and the pricing was surprisingly fair. I don't drink whiskey, but the blueberry lavender lemonade was excelling with gin.Service: The servers and hostesses are all very friendly here. The only downside was that service seemed a little slow and our drinks took a very long time to come out. Definitely recommend for dinner or drinks! More...

It's never overcrowded where you cant get a table but also never empty. Came here on numerous occasions and staff is always friendly and accommodating. Two way combo is great because you can sample different meats without getting way too much food. Love the St. Louis spare ribs. Usually get them dry and chipotle style. Chicken is great too, juicy and tender. All the sides are great but obviously mac&cheese is the go to. Very close second are the sweet potato fries. Great beer selection. I came here for the first time earlier this week on memorial day. Three other friends joined me. I had hit the wine bar a little too hard the night before, so I was really looking forward to something hearty and delish. The server came over and recited all of their daily specials which my one friend found very impressive. The server intuitively realized we would need a lot more time, so he left us to discuss. After studying the menu for fifteen minutes my hangover brain started feeling guilty about potentially ordering something so heavy. Luckily, their salad selection was actually amazing! I ordered the daily special salad, which was their take on a Greek salad. My friends did not take the healthy route AT ALL. One got this giant burger inside a burrito, another got a pulled pork sandwich the size of my head, and the other friend got a brisket sandwich of a similar size. They had also spotted the kobe beef donuts and couldn't resist. The order came with three, but they added an extra donut to the order, even though they knew I didn't want one. Initially I wasn't sure I could stomach drinking again, but then all my friends had ordered beers and I started feeling left out. I decided a little hair-of-the-dog might be good for me. I was happy and surprised to find they actually have an extensive wine list! I ordered an Albarino to compliment my salad. The first sip was a little rough, but after that it was smooth sailing. The server brought a bread basket to the table that had the cutest little cornbread muffins inside. I couldn't stop gobbling them up. My one friend said "you better slow down or you'll ruin your dinner," but I didn't listen. When my salad finally came I had indeed filled up on cornbread. I didn't want to let my friend think he was right, though, so I still ate all my salad. Or most of it anyway. They all loved their food and ate most of that, too! My one friend is a light eater, so he only ate half his sandwich but he was excited about having a whole other meal later. He left it on my dining room table at my house though, so he never did get to enjoy the other half.Overall, the price was right on point for the quantity and quality of food they provide. We will absolutely be back! More...

The food here is great.  But the bartenders can't pour a good drink.  My advice is to eat here and walk up the street to the Woodman and grab a real drink.  They pour like they care.

I've been here a handful of times and the few times I've been here have been good. Very calm environment with friendly staff. Wait wasn't long as you could wait by the bar while your table is ready. Tonight was the first time I've tried the earlier menu (I think it changes for late night) and I ordered a BBQ tri- tip quesadilla. It was good like any other quesadillas would taste. I have to try something else next time! Maybe a bbq sandwich I was debating on. Prices are a little bit up there but the portions are huge so it's easy to share with someone. I always come here when someone suggests it. I'm never the one to suggest it but I'll definitely be back.**parking around is awful. Valet is offered! More...

A wonderfully consistent restaurant- I've tried most of the bbq which is good - we now always get the brisket, fries, Mac and cheese bites, and cole slaw. This was my first visit, with someone who goes there regularly. We ate at the bar. I had the OMG burger, and it lived up to its name. Difficult to eat but SOOOO tasty. The french fries came with pepper on them which is the way I like them. I asked for a side of Bleu cheese dressing, and it was some of the best I've ever had. I was not a fan of the cole slaw. The service was quick. The bartenders are very friendly. Parking in the neighborhood is impossible, and there was a line of cars for the valet. I would still go there again for the food. So many things I want to try! More...

HAPPY TO MEAT YOU HEREAMBIANCELocated in the heart of Studio City. Family friendly, great for local eats. The location is convenient and easy to access in the busy boulevard of Ventura. Limited metered street parking during the day, free parking after 8pm. They also offer Valet service in front of the restaurant. Restaurant is comfortable, cozy and rustic adorned by wooden table tops and modern art of skulls on walls. Indoor and outdoor seating available as well as bar tops. SERVICECustomer service is fair, can be a little better. It wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing either. Often we would find ourselves having to flag down the waiter for anything we need. DRINKSFull bar, beer and spirits. Sodas and juices availableFOODPlease always start with these little cornbread poppers they serve. i can literally have about 20 of these little suckers! They are THAT good$22 THE OMG - 8oz snake river farms american "kobe style" wagyu beef, beer battered onion rings, chipotle aioli, BBQ sauce, onion, house made bacon, cheddar cheese. This burger definitely lives up to its name. OMG is right. The burger melts in my mouth and worth every calorie in my body. The wagyu beef is moist and juicy! Their beer battered onions is an amazing addition of flavor paired well with the bacon. $27 SANTA MARIA RED OAK GRILLED BEEF RIBS - ordered dry. The meat is perfectly cooked, full of flavor, lean and great to share. I do get the bbq sauce on the side for my optional dipping. 2 sides accompaniments: i chose onion rings and potato salad. Again loving the onions rings here. Crispy, not oily and great taste. Potato salad is perfectly made. Loving the texture and Food here is melt in your mouth outstanding! Its high time I wrote this review. Ive been coming here from its beginning over a decade ago. I go here more then any other restaurant. I consider myself a bit a a foodie/beer snob. If your looking for delicious comfort food, great beer/spirits, super knowledgeable bartenders/backs, lovely waiters and waitresses this is your place. I go by myself and sit at the bar, with my family in a booth and meet other family's and take over the large communal table. (Kid friendly thank god). Go. Grab some of the best beers on earth and amazing apps. Splurge and get crazy with the BBQ menu. Julie, one of the owners stopped by our table to chat with us and she was just lovely! I mean really! She was so cute. They serve this corn bread on the house that's so yummy! I was stressing out because my mom kept pressuring me to find a place to eat after Easter mass. I didn't know where to go where there wouldn't be a wait and where there were enough seats for all of us. Thankfully my mom narrowed down my search by suggesting bbq. Considering the request for bbq and the area, I narrowed it down to one -- Boneyard Bistro. It was perfect because they had an open reservation for noon for 6 people. We were actually the first ones there and pretty much the only ones there the whole time. We were greeted by Zach. He was an awesome server. Very polite and always gave good suggestions when it came to our drinks and the food we ordered. We ended up getting the mini-mega which was way more than enough for all of us. We had 5 types of meat, I believe, and 6 side items including collard greens, mac & cheese bites, coleslaw, french fries, potato salad, baked beans. The collard greens were my favorite of the side items. It had the perfect balance of acidity and sweetness. The meat plate consisted of pork and beef ribs, brisket, sausage, and pulled pork. This meal was enough to feed probably a family of 8. We had so much meat left over. At the end of the day, everyone was happy, which made me very happy. Btw, the drinks were also on point -- stiff! It was a Happy Easter for all! More...

What a pleasant surprise!! The service...excellent!  Walker, our waiter, was attentive, pleasant and professional.  We couldn't ask for more.  The food...not a weak spot.  Appetizers were deviled eggs which were unusually prepared and heavenly.  The cauliflower was well season, crispy and the touch of a burrata-like cheese was exquisite.  My wife had the ribs and I had the brisket that were both tasty and prepared to our liking.  Even the bread basket, which had tiny corn muffins and sour dough bread, was superb.  The icing on the cake, so to speak, was when Suzy, one of the owners, came to our table to check that everything was OK.  She was caring, pleasant and delightful.  Suffice it to say that we will return!! This place is awesome.  I laughed at some reviews where people described what they ordered- all I could think was - WHY?  The building Blocks of Bacon- it's just an unbelievable flavor experience.  Truly incredible. The Brisket was tender fork worthy and delicious- not to mention the quality of the meat was superb.  I'm a brisket connoisseur.  The Tri Tip was incredible.  The Southern style of rubs and cooking was truly fantastic.  Their spicy BBQ sauce version of their Texas / Kentucky sauce is a great adder.Their Tri Tip Chilli- no beans is beyond delicious.  No sour cream please.  The Pulled pork, served their way with a topping of slaw was amazing.  Try the vinegar based Carolina sauce that helps cut the fatty flavor of the pulled pork as a side option to see if you like it.Their baked beans- OMG - simmered with beef and just the most amazing smokey flavor- like NO other place in Los Angeles.  Not even close. Finally, their Cole Slaw, with it's vinegar, slightly mustard flavor on an unusual texture of Slaw.  Delicious.I had eaten there a couple times years ago and somehow it was nothing like this.  Maybe it's because I just ordered babybacks and fires, etc.  Don't know.Their bartenders are highly skilled and knowledgeable. In any event, parking complaints?  Please.  Metered parking on Ventura and valet steps away.  Don't be cheap!  It's a night out!  The pricing?  It only seems a little much if you think  BBQ is what you eat at Chilli's or Sizzler.  And to be frank, the portions were quite large and shareworthy and enough to take home and the prices were not much different than many restaurants like Cheesecake factory but for very high quality meats. This was actually my first visit to an American styled steak house restaurant in the states and I must say, they blew me away. To start with, the service was excellent. Our waiter had found the perfect balance in checking up on us and giving us some space. A lot of other places I've visited usually have waiters checking up on you constantly which can get a bit annoying after a while. And when it comes to the food, that was epic. We had mixes with short ribs, pulled pork, pulled chicken and brisket and they where all out of this world. I was stuffed after chomping down on all that deliciousness. We also shared and tried deep fried cookie dough with ice cream and chocolate sauce and my goodness, it was absolutely fantastic. I can only give this place the absolute best and I'll be sure to go there again next time I'm in LA. More...

Best sweet potato fries here!! Our whole group got the basic burger with an order of regular fries and sweet potato fries. The fries were amazing with the aioli that came on the side. My medium rare burger was pretty rare but I was okay with that because typically when I order a burger that way it comes closer to well done. The service was quick and friendly. We did have to hunt someone down for the check but it was a dead time for the restaurant so we understood. Parking is on the street. I imagine that there are times when parking is really hard because there are so many businesses and not that much parking but in the early afternoon on a weekday it was manageable. I spent 4 years in Nashville surrounded by some of the best BBQ in the nation, and ever since moving to LA it's been hard to replicate. This is the part where I you expect me to say, "until now!", and I will, because Boneyard deserves it. Until now, I haven't been to a place that has a perfectly seasoned and cooked set of ribs or such a succulent pulled chicken. The chefs at this place know how to do BBQ meats. The deviled egg appetizer, something I hadn't had in awhile that I was psyched to see, was fantastic, as were the chicken wings. I also appreciated the delicious bourbon mixed drink, and the fact they have no shortage of bourbons (or any alcohol for that matter), including some I only recognized from my time in the South, that are available nationally but less common here (Elijah Craig, Jefferson, Four Roses)I almost gave five stars, but the prices were holding me back. It's priced like fine dining, and it's pretty close to worth it, but it feels weird paying $40-$60 per person for BBQ. While I'm being critical, I'll mention that the mashed potatoes and collard greens were good but not great. My wife made collard greens for the first time a few weeks before we went, and even without any experience hers were more delicious... maybe I'm biased. Or maybe if the meal was just a few bucks cheaper, I wouldn't feel so judgy. That being said, you should expect good service; the waiter/waitress worked hard to make it a good experience. They even brought me a complimentary dessert because they heard it was my birthday.Summary is, if you are looking for a BBQ restaurant where they are far and few between, and don't mind the expense, this place is worth it for the meats and cocktails.(Also pictured: 1/4 chicken which was a little too smoked, coleslaw which was good, and Fried Mac and cheese which was obviously decadent) More...

Went here with my family for a birthday lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Service was pretty good considering we had a large group (about 12-14 ppl). We had a reservation so waiting for a table was no issue. We were seated in their outdoor area, which was nice but the sun was shining bright and half of our party was blinded and being hit directly by the sun. There was plenty of room inside the restaurant so idk why we weren't sat there. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of potato salad. Pulled poke was delicious, super juicy and just the right amount of sauce. Potato salad was ok, didn't have much flavor other than some tang from mustard. All in all, the food was good. The service was good. I unfortunately didn't have a chance to try any beers, so I can't comment on that. More...

COST:$18 (Brisket Sandwich plus Fried Mac n' Cheese)$11 (Bacon & Pancake Hush Puppies, Whipped Maple Butter, BOURBON SYRUP)$6 and above (Beers, Wine and ALL THE WHISKEY IN THE WORLD)Last week I celebrated a big milestone in my life so the birthday festivities HAD to start with dinner. I had this and another place nearby as options. When I ran it to my crew, they said hands down Boneyard Bistro has MUCH better menu and a SUPER extensive whiskey/beer menu. SAY NO MORE!I always hate planning for my birthday because planning usually always occurs during the holidays. I hastily put a way too early reservation for a bar due to this. I had to move that reservation at the last minute and luckily, Boneyard Bistro was able to accommodate my group of ten for dinner. I was being the super douchey customer by showing up late to my own birthday dinner (don't worry, my friends were even later LOL). I had called them up to let them know of this, and they said no worries. Upon arriving at Boneyard, we were given an outside but covered patio. It was beautiful and frankly if you ask me, the BEST SEATS in the houuuussseee! It was both warm (there were heaters), but there were also ceiling fans to provide some ventilation. It didn't smell all that smokey inside the restaurant, but the patio is the best place to be especially if you're hitting up another place after.A friend and I both wanted to try a couple of items so we ended up splitting the sandwich and the hush puppies. Let's break them down. The sandwich was good... well, the meat was REALLY good. The bread itself is like a ciabatta roll or something of that consistency so it was way too thick (that's what she said) to the point that it felt needless and a chore to eat. I'd much rather just have gotten the brisket alone. The hush puppies were REALLY good. I tasted more of the bourbon and barely any bacon. I also wished the bourbon was somehow spread out a little more evenly but understand it's liquid and therefore somehow always my last bite had THE most bourbon. It was like taking shots lol. And finally, the fried mac n cheese bites were so delicious. They only give your three triangles of it, and I NEEDED MORE!Overall, it was a great time and it kicked off the night very well. OH! I cannot forget the bread and cornbread they placed on our table as a starter. Oh and also the delicious brownie, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream they gave me as a birthday present. Thank you guys! I'll be back to bonetown haha! More...

Where do I begin!! Okay so let's start with the parking. Of course, there is parking on the streets, but I found parking in the back. However, the signs I saw mentioned all the places on that street, BUT the Boneyard Bistro which was strange since it's a pretty big restaurant and seems to bring a lot of business as well. Nonetheless, I parked in the parking in the back of the Starbucks next to the Subway which was next to the Boneyard Bistro. I walked in and was greeted from a nice-looking guy who stated he would seat us in about 10mins. We were quickly seated in less than 10 mins in a booth which we were pleased with.  We started with the Kobe Beef Chili Filled Donuts and a cocktail. I ordered a Mai Tai to start. So, the Kobe Donuts were so cute and little. You only get 3 and I wish they gave like 6 of them. Especially if they are appetizers, since you usually share them with the other people at the table. Nonetheless they were delicious!! OMG, they were really tasty like miniature chili burgers!!  As for my drink, it was DELICIOUS....strong as all out doors, but very yummy!!! Finally as for my meal....let's just say it was love at first site. I ordered the Pulled Chicken sandwich with mustard, onions, pickles, with fried mac n cheese and baked beans. My sandwich was to die for and had great flavor....my mouth is watering thinking of it right now as I write this review. God must of put his hands all in it because it was made out of love for sure. My baked beans had chunks of beef in it and it was so so so good!! I wanted more, but not because they didn't give me enough but because I was greedy and wanted more, lol. As for the Mac N Cheese, it was different for sure and I have never had them before. They were also very tasty as well. My entire meal was exactly what my belly wanted that night. As for our waiter, he was a gem! Very nice and polite and knew the menu. I will for sure be back to this place!! More...

So me and my friend decided to meet up here to catch up on things and I had initially placed a reservation for both of us and requested that my reservation be in a booth and when I got there, their idea of booth was like squeezed between two parties with one of us sitting on the couch and the other person on the other side gets a chair, they had two booths available but those are for a party of four only. (wish they have told me that when I placed my reservation in regards to my booth request). But anyways... my friend just found out she needs to be on a gluten free diet and they def had lots of options for her , the server (with the deep voice) was very helpful! We started off with bread and cornbread and butter (very good) then we ordered sodas , she asked for a coke (it was flat) and I asked for a sprite (it was flat too) so I returned mine and stuck with the water (they explained to me that their sodas are always flat , they can't change that). Then we got to the best part, the food! They have a good selection , but knowing is we opted with their chef made burger. My friend went with their California style and I went the BURN IN HELL burger , omggggggg it was amazinnnngggggggggg!!! I'm craving it already! I ate it with no problem , it was perfect spicy! A dream come true haha , absolutely delissshhhh and that's the only reason why I gave this place 4 stars! Just because of that amazing burger! More...

I'm so glad I live a short walk from Boneyard.I came in the first time because I had just closed another neighborhood restaurant at 10 PM and I wasn't finished for the night. I drank at Boneyard Bistro (they have a late night happy hour too) for about a month before I had any of their food and I made friends with the bartenders in the process - I usually do that. I'm not a huge barbecue fan but the non-barbecue side of the menu is interesting enough that there are lots of wonderful things on it, like the Cajun Empanadas (seafood filling, Tabasco mayo) and the Loaded Potato Potstickers  with a French Onion Dip dipping sauce. Their Tater Tot Poutine with mac and cheese and chipotle brisket on a special Friday the 13th menu  showed me this was a kitchen working at a higher level than you would have expected given the decor. Yes, the entire menu goes very well with the 44 beers they routinely pour. It's one of my go-to places now. More...

The best BBQ in Los Angeles County, especially the BRISKET. I've had Bludso's, which is also excellent, but it doesn't beat Boneyard Bistro's brisket. The sauces, sides, and desserts are all outta this world, too! Make sure to try the chocolate chip cookie dough egg rolls. If I had a tray full of them, I would surely eat a shameful amount. As for the service? I've been here twice, and it was top-notch both times. Quick, professional, knowledgeable, and friendly; everything you could ask for from a server. Food comes out in a short amount of time, too. A major plus for me: this is a very clean restaurant with a beautiful aesthetic. It looks great, it smells great, it tastes great...what more could you ask for? Oh, and I should add that I ate here on my birthday, and they gave me a free dessert. These guys are the best. Such a welcoming atmosphere, amazing and friendly staff and the food was great too!Parking is valet, and was $6. This place is like a hole in the wall kind of restaurant but pretty busy most of the time! We went on a Friday night and it was pretty busy. The restaurant splits into two parts: one side is the full bar area, with bar seating and tables with high chairs, to just grab a drink and appetizers; the second part is the restaurant where it's tables and half booth, half chair seating. Very comfortable. Only con is that the tables on the booth side are kind of squished together, so you're forced to hear other people's conversations and is a little uncomfortable for the server as well to be so close to both tables. The welcoming atmosphere and the vibe is so amazing. We ordered an appetizer which was little cuts of steak with sauce, about 4-5 pieces, delicious! I wish I remembered the name. Our main entrees were my pork tenderloin which came with cornbread and my boyfriend ordered a rib sandwich with toasted bread and fries on the side. Pictures will do the talking! It was amazing and cooked perfectly!I asked for a recommendation for a fruity cocktail and was given a whiskey sour, which wasn't really fruity but I enjoyed it anyway. And my boyfriend drank two different beers, the glasses were very small compared to the price. Since LA isn't best known for ribs or BBQ in general, this place really was one for the books! We will definitely be back. More...

I've been here 4 times and it's been consistently very good. The barbecue is delicious. This last time I got the pork ribs, 1/4 chicken, fried mac and cheese, and potato salad. So yummy. Their craft cocktails are also amazing. I ordered the 'Fernando's Last Word,' and it was great. Subtly fruity and slightly spicy/smokey flavor. I also tried the 'Pilikia on Neptune,' and it was perfect to end the meal. Slightly sweet and refreshing. I'll definitely be back here. More...

Really enjoyed this place. It's a hidden BBQ gem in Sherman oaks with a great bar surrounded with a couple of TVs that offers good drinks and food. We were five people and ordered the Evanston along with two appetizers. The appetizers we didn't care to much for. We had ordered the empanadas and the chili donuts they were meh. The reason why I give this place four stars is because they really do offer some quality BBQ. I usually prefer a more vinegar base BBQ sauce to top my BBQ but I enjoy this place a lot. The tri tip, brisket, and BBQ ribs were my favorite. The BBQ ribs fell off the bone and the brisket was falling apart it was so tender. The fried mac and cheese was awesome and I'm not really a mac n cheese fan. The BBQ beans were great as well. Our waitress Star was really nice and honest when we asked what she recommended and she didn't steer us wrong. We all ordered a round drinks and with tip it came out to 54 a person. The parking can be difficult since it's Ventura and they offer street parking and I could see this place packed during the weekend but it's well worth it when coming with a group. More...

4 stars because: As soon as we walked in, we got seated right away, though the lady that sat us wasn't as friendly, actually, didn't really say anything after asking us where we would like to seat. She literally grabbed the menus & kept walking, didn't even say "right this way".. call it nitpicky but I guess I'm used to it from all restaurants I've been to. But that's not as important. Anyway, we got seated. The seats where we sat at was in between these two seats for 2 people. They were too close to each other.. Not enough space for privacy. But it's ok. My bf & I were new there & I read all the good reviews I HAD to try this place. So as soon as we sat down, no less than 5 min, the waiter came & ask for our drinks. Sure enough, drinks were on our table right away. We weren't ready to order quickly, but by the time we were, I kid you not... the food came right away!! We were sooo happy! We didn't have to wait that long. The food: I ordered the smoked hickory half chicken with a side of potato salad & fried mac & cheese. Never had fried mac & cheese. The amount they gave me for everything was enough for me to get full & have some left overs to take home. Everything from when we got seated til we left was amazing! Chicken was crisp outside, juicy inside, potato salad was good too, & the fried mac & cheese was just epic! I am overrall happy we went here. More...

My friends and I came here on a whim, for my birthday celebration, and we had a blast!  The service was impeccable, and the food was excellent.  We started the night with some deviled eggs, which were amazing.  Truly among the best I've ever had.  Then we had the Korean style sticky wings, which were lip-smacking good.  We also tried the butternut squash soup, which was beyond fresh.  Although, one of my friends claimed that half-way through, the taste profile seemed a bit redundant to him.  However, I feel that that should be the case for such a soup.  For dinner, we settled on the Mini-mega, which did not disappoint. All the meats were succulent and delicious, and the sides were to die for.  I have never had fried mac and cheese that were this good.  The baked beans has chunks of meat in it, and was perfectly sweet and savory.  The potato salad was fresh and creamy, while the French fries were thin, crispy, and perfectly salty.  I even got a brownie a la mode for being the birthday boy!  Yes, that was great too.  Crisp on the outside, gooey on the inside.  My highest regards to their chef and staff.  It's obvious that they care about doing a good job, and caring for their customers. Co-worker set up a work dinner there for the other night.  My pre-visit Yelp research left me scratching my head a little.  Will the BBQ be dry and tasteless as some say or moist and delicious?   Well...in my experience, it was both.Group of 10ish sat in glass aquarium area in front.  Not the best lighting with the florescence from shop next door beaming in, but I sat farthest away from that annoyance. Recommendation: sit away from street.  Otherwise, I was comfy.Internet menu preview showed they have Pliny on tap and unfortunately I informed another co-worker that recently got into IPA how good this beer is. Unfortunate since they were out for a few days. Major bummer since I have not had it in a year or so.  Nonetheless, we made due with their other well curated selection of IPAs.Group arrived and apps were ordered.  Pretty good apps all the way around with my fav probably being the pork belly.  For dinner, a few of us shared a BBQ platter and the head of the table ordered a Bordeaux.  What?!?!  They have an awesome zin selection with some serious gems and we get a St. Emillion !!  And BBQ with zin is one of my favorite matches...oh well, I'll live.   BBQ platter was more than enough food for the advertised 2-4 people.  The tri-tip was a little chewy, drier and lacking flavor but the brisket was super moist, tasty, and dissolved in your mouth.  All ribs styles were awesome.  Sides were also flavorful. For dessert, we shared some items which were also solid and ordered whiskeys from there extensive list.  Some gems as well.Service was great and friendly throughout meal and especially impressive given our table size and the fact people were popping in and out. Solid place if you are willing to pay a bit more for BBQ. More...

LA isn't necessarily known for BBQ, but if you're in the mood for some heavy comfort food and plenty of red meat, Boneyard is for you. Whenever BBQ restaurants would come up in the conversation, Boneyard was always in the mix and can definitely hold their own against the best of 'em!We came by for dinner on a Thursday night around 6pm and the place was already packed with the dinner crowd. The dining area has exposed brick and beams and reminds me of the warehouse style bars around SF or NYC.The menu has several burgers, and all the awesome BBQ staples. We decided to share a few artery clogging dishes including the BBQ quesadilla con Ensalada (pulled chicken, sour cream, guacamole, jack and cheddar cheese, salsa, chipotle ranchero sauce, and lime vinaigrette), then the BBQ pulled pork sandwich (with mustard, onion, pickle, and a side of baked beans). The BBQ chicken and pork were so good I can't even decide which one I liked more. The chicken was juicy and packed with flavor and the pulled pork basically melts in your mouth! As if these weren't enough we got orders of the fried mac and cheese as well as the beer battered onion rings. The onion rings were gigantic and extra crispy, but the highlight of the meal had to be the deadly fried mac and cheese. The creamy and cheesy inside was piping hot and the buffalo dipping sauce had a powerful kick. Needless to say we had enough leftover for another whole meal in leftovers.I'm always amazed at the sheer number of eateries that line this famous boulevard, especially throughout the Sherman Oaks/Studio City neighborhoods. Most come and go, but Boneyard has been going strong for over ten years! More...

If you want to be my friend bring me macaroni and cheese balls. Not just regular macroni and cheese but I want it deep fried, breaded, with lots of calories. Boneyard Bistro is a small BBQ place located right off Ventura Blvd. The good news is that Blazing Saddles spinning studio is right around the corner, so you can burn off all the calories you consume. To start your meal off they serve you a basket of complimentary corn and sourdough bread. Free bread with butter always wins brownie points. I ordered two appetizers:-3 Sweet Potato samosas, delicious -Cheese curds, deep fried and salty. My friend got the Three Way Combo: brisket, chicken, and sausage. I stole some chicken off their plate. The best part of the plate was the fried macaroni and cheese. It was piping hot, crispy, breaded and creamy inside. It was divine. The potato salad came in at second place. As for the meat, I wasn't too fond of the chicken. I didn't like the smoky taste. Barbecue is not my favorite type of food so I'm not the best judge. They also offer greens and beans but unfortunately both of them are cooked with pork. I don't eat pork so that was disappointing for me. For dessert we got was a banana cream Brulé dessert. I'm not really into bananas or cream Brulé but this was a winner. It was sweet, creamy, and had a unique taste. Our waitress Andrea gave us great service and took time to explain the menu to us. On the other hand the hostess could have been a bit nicer. Things to keep in mind are that the desserts and appetizers change often and sometimes weekly. Parking can be hard but they offer $6 valet. We are regulars here. The BBQ is so good from sandwiches to meat platters. The chef offers interesting specials and changes the menu often. So it is not just traditional BBQ but interesting spins on different traditional items. The craft beer and whisky selection is also extensive. This is great as dine in place or carry out. Highly recommend!! More...

This place is perhaps my favorite restaurant. Me and my wife had our first date here three years ago and usually go here every year on our anniversary. Just had my 30th birthday party on Sunday and everything was awesome as always(shout out to our server Frank!). Food is amazing, service is impeccable, and the drink menu was made in heaven. The only thing that kinda sucks here is parking, but hey, that's Sherman Oaks for ya. Highly recommend to anyone who love craft beer, craft cocktails, and craft barbeque. More...

Omg, the food was ridiculously good!  Very generous portions, too. We had the tri tip sandwich (delicious), collard greens (they add sweet and savory seasonings), wedge salad (huuuuge), posole soup (chunky and fresh goodness) and some apps that were each super flavorful.  I'll be back!

We ended up here because it was one of the only places open at 10:45. Well, that's not a bad thing because the beef ribs were yummy. Just know that if you have an aversion to fat whatsoever that this probably isn't the place for you, but if you love delicious beef ribs then come on in, because you'll be licking your fingers.Another win with this place is that they have Carolina BBQ! Woot woot! That's something that you don't see too often around LA and it's something that I dearly miss having grown up on the East Coast. In fact, the Carolina Pork BBQ was enough to bring my Southern twang back out. More...

I came here for lunch thinking bbq ribs but ended up ordering the pulled pork plate instead and it was delicious. Tender, juicy, delicious, melt in your mouth plate of pulled pork with the choice of two sides - I went with baked beans and fried mac'n cheese that comes in 3 triangles about bite size. I was a bit disappointed with the mac'n cheese bites as they were a bit dry and not that tasty. I would have preferred it baked instead. My bf and our friends ordered a few different kinds of sandwiches (brisket, chicken club and tri-tip) and they were all phenomenal as well. The french fries were shoe string kind that I don't like all that much but everything else was very good. Also service was awesome and staff was very nice and attentive. More...

We came here for barbecue while visiting LA and this place did not disappoint. The restaurant is located on busy Ventura Boulevard and parking is mostly street parking. The restaurant has a patio in front, a bar with lots of TVs, and a more quiet dining room which is where we sat. We ordered the brisket sandwich and it was moist, juicy and tender. It was so tasty even without the side of barbecue sauce. The sauce was tangy and complimented the meat without overpowering it. We also ordered the pulled pork plate which comes with a choice of sides. The baked beans were so good, they are loaded with chunks of meat! The fried mac and cheese balls were good, crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside. The pulled pork was so delicious, it was moist and tender and the smoky outer meat was loaded with flavor. Service was great, someone was always checking on us during the meal, making sure our drinks were refilled. Note: The restaurant is also a bar so be prepared to pay premium prices for the good food. I love this place. The BBQ is amazing. I'm always tempted to get the ribs but the menu items are original and tempting. Great wine list and cocktail program too. While you wouldn't think of this as a kids place, I recently brought my 10-year old daughter here for their quarterly Seafood Boil, and we had a blast. The service people could not have been nicer to her. In the past I have brought both my kids (10 and 8) and the wait staff has always been incredibly nice. One server even gave them a tour of the restaurant and showed them the keg room and how the hoses run through the ceilings to the taps. It was so cool. We still talk about that day. More...

I came here on a Wednesday night with my boyfriend and sat on the small patio in the front of the restaurant and had a great experience!Service: Waitress was very attentive and frequently came by asking if we needed anything. She even offered her opinion and expertise on what beer to try (their selection is HUGE and awesome). They also have servers constantly coming by to remove your dirty dishes and refill your water.Food: Delicious! I got the BBQ chicken quesadillas with pulled pork and my boyfriend got the pulled pork dinner. It was a ton of food! Also, with the dinner my boyfriend got to pick 2 sides, he chose fried mac n' cheese balls and potato salad. Both were very good (I LOVED the fried mac n' cheese balls)! For desert we got the s'more bread pudding - UNREAL is all I have to say about that.Menu: Drink Menu is huge they have cocktails, wine and a massive selection of beer that they change out frequently. Also, this menu is not just BBQ which is great! There is a bistro side to it too with delicious sounding salads and other entrees.Overall great spot in the valley and would definitely come back! This establishment is a unique bbq concept.  I has a pleasant experience here. I came here with a friend on a Monday night. We were seated right away and the servers are pretty focused on service. We order the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer. My companion had the rib-eye and I had their special, which was the fried chicken. The appetizer was a refreshing dish that is very well prepared. The tomatoes, avocado, shrimp and everything in between was the perfect blend of texture and taste. They served with tortilla chips, which was a unique yet innovative twist to a shrimp cocktail dish. I was absolutely impressed. The bold flavors and texture of the appetizers made for a good start. Ribeye. My companion share his dish with me and I was impressed how the ribeye was cooked. It really didn't need steak sauce. The onion rings were okay. It was was a well excited dish. However, the asparagus had no crunch. Perhaps, it is a matter of preference. Nevertheless, my friend was mildly happy. Fried chicken and fried mac and cheese. They fried mac and cheese was the star of my dish. The fried chicken was very well prepared and executed. The taste and texture was on point on both fried chicken and mac & cheese. The coleslaw was not to my liking. The dill overpower the rest of the ingredient which gave  the side dish a overpowering dill taste. I could not get past it. It was not my favoriteFor dessert, we share the Shoo-Fly Pie. It was okay. The dough was on the slightly salted side,  perhaps it was on purpose to balance out the sweet. However, we didn't care for it too much. Servers we attentive and friendly. They were personable and helpful. I would go back to this place. I gave it a 4 because of the overpowering dill and salted dough. Nevertheless, the experience was a good one. More...

First of all, this is one of our favorite restaurants in Valley. The food is amazing, and service has always been stellar . Now for the truly exceptional experience. Last night , my wife and I had dinner at boneyard. Later in the evening we realized that her engagement ring was missing. I immediately called the restaurant and spoke to the hostess, who was not only extremely compassionate, but beyond helpful. While they could've simply told us it hadn't turned up, instead, she and her manager dug through the booth we were sitting at, and even looked through the garbage can and the dumpster! This is a restaurant that goes above and beyond to put their customers first in every aspect of their service. We ended up finding her ring this morning after tearing our house apart looking for hours and hours, but I can't thank the staff at boneyard enough for being so wonderfully caring. This will be our spot forever. More...

I do a lot of meat smoking at home so am always on the look out for a Restuarant that can really deliver on this level. We tried several dishes: for appetizers we had the bacon blocks and posole , both very tasty. I had a combination meat platter which included brisket, beef rib, baby baby ribs and pulled pork. The brisket and baby backs were my personal favorite. The collard greens and coleslaw that accompanied the meat was delicious. The only negative thing that I can say is that the beers that they served, on tap, we're not cold enough. The server explained that due to the ducting in the building, when it gets really hot, they are unable to get these beers as cold as they need to be. Seems like that would be a simple thing for the owner to fix. We do live in SoCal and the summers are hot. With how long the Restuarant has been around and the amount of people going in and out there, seems like they would have the cash flow to fix this problem. Near room temp beer and BBQ is not the best combo. The food and service was great though so I will still give them 5 stars , hoping they read this and sort out the warm beer issue. More...

You have to really appreciate slow cooked meats to get into the spirit of this restaurant.  Calling it a simple Gastro pub isn't fair. ........... I ate here twice with plenty of drinks, appetizer, salad and of course BBQ entrees.   This ain't your average sandwich shop.  The BBQ is close to delicious and the entrees are really well thought out. I had pulled pork sandwich, full rack pork BBQ, pork belly cubes, and a whole bunch of other stuff.  I can confidently say that the BBQ meats are very seriously prepared like it should be and they take this meat business like somebody memorized a Paleo diet book or something.  And that's good.  Drink selection is also good and service wasn't bad either.  The only negative was the food/price and drink/price equation which seemed a bit off. A shot of Lagavulin 16 year old scotch for $19. Seriously?  Still a very good place and I'd go back anytime. More...

In a city of decent BBQ food, Boneyard is one of the better options. Boneyard, simply put, is LA BBQ. Good quality of ingredients, tasty food, an atmosphere to dine in, and a slightly expensive menu. My favorites and recommendations: I'm a sucker for cornbread, and I really enjoy their complimentary cornbread given to you with the bread. Everyone talks about the fried mac and cheese as they should, delicious. What everyone should be talking about is..... The St. Louis Ribs. Order them wet (this means they slather on a wet rub of BBQ sauce that cooks into the meat on its final sear).  I am a big fan of their BBQ sauce, good BBQ sauce is hard to come by.  When these ribs are cooked fresh, they are fall off the bone dynamite.Last but not least, they have great coleslaw, really well balanced. Check it out. Cornbread, fried mac, coleslaw, and delicious ribs.. I'm hungry. More...

In my search for the best, according go to me, BBQ joint takes me to this place. My two meats to try are St. Lou's ribs and brisket, sauce on the side, of which I had both.  The ribs were tender, tasty and easy off the bone. The brisket, fatty (always) was tender and flavorful.  They have an excellent bourbon menu with their own brand of Tennessee Whiskey (yes I know it's not bourbon, but close) which paired excellently with my meal.  Because of all of this Boneyard Bistro is in the top three for BBQ. I will go back just the continue the sampling of meats, sides and bourbon. A must visit. More...

Came here last night with another couple and it was all of our first times here. The waiter who had an extremely recordable awesome voice, helped break down the menu that would be most suitable for sharing. We started off with the crawfish beignets that were more like hush puppies and not the traditional dessert kind. Not too fried but a little salty but still good. Came with a nice dipping sauce. We also got the ahi rolls which were delicious as well. Let's not forget the bread basket with mini corn muffins!! A must have for bbq and those little guys were legit! We ended up getting the Evanator and it was so much food. The baby back ribs were probably my favorite but everything was so good that you didn't really need bbq sauce that came in its own carafe! I mean talk about serious! The baked beans, coleslaw, fried mac and cheese were the sides that came with and all complimented our meats well. Not too overpowering and just perfect! We also ordered a side of collard greens which were excellent. I really dislike it when they are made too salty, slimy, and just over cooked. These greens were just the right salty, sour and not soggy! We didn't have room for dessert but the mini charms pops on the way out was an added bonus! They also have a great beer selection! There is valet parking for $6 and meters out front but we couldn't find any. Highly recommend this place if you want some good bbq at a reasonable price that's a level above baby blues! More...

Glad I gave this place a try, but not sure if I'll be back. Discovered Boneyard Bistro/BBQ while trying to find parking for The Woodman bar. We ended up parking extremely close to Boneyard a week or two ago, and I thought it looked like a cool spot, and the food smelled absolutely AMAZING. Seriously, the smell alone is what drove me to bookmark this place and come back last night to try it.Located on Ventura Blvd, in a busy area, parking can be a struggle. They do offer valet, located in front of the restaurant, however. We decided to find street parking, since it was after 8pm, and that's when meter parking becomes free. The ambiance and atmosphere of this restaurant is top notch. With a gastro-pub like feel to it, mixed with an upscale/trendy BBQ restaurant appearance, this is a pretty fun place, and I enjoyed my experience here. The decor is nice and interesting. Boneyard definitely has a darker, unique vibe to it, and the layout gives a lot to keep your eyes busy. A for ambiance! The menu was most impressive. Their drink and beer selection was extremely large. While I stuck to beer, the hard alcohol variety and options seemed unrivaled to me. They had beer taster flights for a decent price ($12-13), and the pours were very generous (4, 4-5 ounces). Average pint prices were roughly $7-8, and on Mondays, they offer 25% off all beer, which was a great, unexpected surprise. The food menu was comprehensive for a BBQ establishment, with some really great options. The prices are above average. The service was quick, efficient, friendly, attentive, and on point. Our food and drinks came out extremely quick, and the wait was virtually non-existent. It was honestly a little strange how quick the food came out, and left me wondering whether or not it was already made before we ordered. Anyways, A+ for service. The food itself was slightly disappointing, especially for the price. I feel like I could have gotten a tri-tip sandwich for half the price somewhere else, that would have tasted just as good, and been just as big. The portion size was large enough, but I wouldn't say generous. For $19, it left me feeling a little ripped off. While the tri tip was good, it was far from the best I have had, and one of the priciest sandwiches I have gotten in a while. The fried mac n cheese was pretty awesome, however, and made up for it a little bit. Overall, the food gets a B score from me, with a C- in terms of pricing. All in all, this place is cool, and I would recommend anyone to try it once. It did not live up to my expectations, however, and I'm not sure if I'll be back. While good, I much prefer Outback or Wood Ranch. This is a cool, trendy spot where you'd might want to take a date.
