Excellent venue for personal and corporate events. I had the pleasure of planning a 50th birthday party here. The guest of honor was extremely pleased with the outcome. I've also attended fundraising events here as well. My only con would be the poles in the upper area prevent a clear view in some seats during presentations. Hoaglin catering doesn't a terrific job with the menu. There are many options to choose from and various price points. Definitely consider this venue if you are planning an event. More...

Polished and raw ornate feeling from the old school wood and modern minimalist interior decor, or lack of it, plenty of parking, easy to find off the beaten Indy path which felt right for the modern hipster event we attended. Huge main room above lower has plenty of lighting and offers huge windows that make for an enticing atmosphere as the sun sets. We enjoyed our time here for a fundraiser and definitely recommend to any seeking a city space with space and open air. More...

We used this venue for our wedding and reception. We had a great planning experience with our coordinator and the venue itself is gorgeous. The best thing about this place is that it has a lot of gorgeous space. We rented one side for the evening and had 3 different locations for our guests, including a beautiful outdoor patio. The menu choices and food were awesome. The food is great- we had lots of compliments from guests! There are some additional perks like- there's a brewery in the building and an amazing stairwell and old fashioned elevator. Some things that turned out to be difficult or as challenges for us- the bridal suites are very small and have poor ventilation. The bridal suites also have almost no furniture. So it's not one of those places that you can really get ready in. Lastly, the only other criticism I have would be that the venue doesn't provide help the day of to set up tables. We had to have a team of friends set up the tables in the back before the staff carried them out. There was a lot of work to do on the wedding day because of this. More...

The Biltwell Event Center was everything I could have imagined and more. I was blown away by the beauty and history of the venue. It allowed us to have a laidback, casual wedding. Our ceremony was able to be very intimate with the Biltwell's setup. We were able to have an indoor space and outdoor space for our reception. The customer service was beyond excellent. They were so helpful even when we were having trouble with outside vendors, they always stepped up to help. They were very responsive and truly listened to how we envisioned our day. The Biltwell is a gorgeous venue and you are truly able to make it however you envision your day. We barely had to add any decorations and it still looked amazing! I highly recommend them. This is such an awesome venue. It's close enough to downtown to be considered downtown, but you don't have to worry about all of the traffic and the paid parking that comes with downtown. The venue is beautiful. It's perfect for a variety of events. I've been here for a Yelp event, seen it have many weddings, a vegan festival, and also a wine festival. Each time, it accommodates the event fairly well. Although it isn't the most accessible, it does have a freight elevator that can do the job. The dim lighting is romantic and great for personal and private events. One thing I have noticed that I've heard from vendors at events: there is almost always an electrical issue at some point during the event. This also ties in that many of the interior space (space not located along the walls) don't have access to many outlets, so keep that in mind. The reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is parking. When they're hosting an event with hundreds of people (like festivals), this place just doesn't cut it, especially when it's raining. The parking lot seems somewhat big, but once you have a normal sized event, combined with the other vendors in the building, it quickly fills up. They do have the option to park in the grass across the street, but again, if it's raining, you better have all-wheel drive. Another knit-picky thing that I have grown to loathe is that new blue signage facing the interstate. I just want to know who chose that font?! Lol It's like it's trying to best a western-style font. Other than that, I don't have many complaints from the times that I've been here for random events. Large space, beautiful exposed brick interior and exterior. More...

Today we visited the Biltwell Event Center for the Markets for Makers Event.  Buying local with homemade gifts directly from the Maker is perfect timing on Small Business Saturday. Nice to visit with so many talented people right here in Central Indiana. The first floor had food trucks, coffee and tables for dining. All the vendors was on the second floor. There were 2 flights of stairs to climb or an elevator we could take. I chose the old freight elevator as did many.I purchased several items and found many gorgeous boutique items, handcrafted pieces of jewelry, woodworking, candles, homemade goodies and a wonderful landscape painter by the name of Randi Ford.Randi Ford is from Sturgis, Michigan but now lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her dancing Michigan landscapes are very fluid with curving lines and a peaceful movement. I really enjoyed speaking to her about her work. She does individual custom pieces, a piece that fits your space or paints a special place to you. She can be reached at randiford@gmail.com. I, along with many others, also enjoyed Dr. Ray's Toffee. He said his goal is to make great toffee that people love and makes them happy. Well he certainly did that. The sample was delicious as well as the container I purchased. It made me very happy. I'm glad I have his card so I can order more online. Frankie Jo's is known for her soft tee's but I happened to find jewelry that I had to have. And my last purchase is the soy candle from Simple Nature in Ft. Wayne. The name of the candle is Christmas Eve and it smells so delicious. The aroma is warm Christmas cookies with vanilla frosting, cinnamon sticks, toasted Graham crackers and juicy raisins. The house smells amazing. I know I'll be purchasing more of these. Now, of course, the Biltwell Event Center is gorgeous. Built in 1922 and remodeled in 2014, the Biltwell Event Center is a former door and cabinet manufacturer and now a historic Event Center. With original hardwood floors, exposed brick, amazing wooden beams, and saw tooth windows, the building holds its original, rustic character, and industrial atmosphere while maintaining a modern comfort and great amenities. The large windows provides a great deal of natural lighting and at night the 2nd floor view of downtown is really cool. Ten individual event spaces of varying sizes are available, with a building capacity of 1,000. With in-house catering, complimentary parking, and tables and chairs onsite, the Biltwell makes planning an event fun to think about. Perfect for weddings, receptions or any special event. This industrial area is currently going through significant changes and lots of construction is underway. The surrounding area may put you off but don't let that stop you from visiting the Biltwell. More...

I attended a charity event at the Biltwell Event Center. The venue has a nice wood/industrial vibe. Large 2 story venue with bars on both floors and a freight elevator. Had a nice outdoor balcony on the second floor, which unfortunately wasn't utilized because of the rain. A couple of downfalls: the bathroom is located downstairs. Our event was on the second floor and it was annoying to keep going downstairs to use the restroom. Secondly, is the location of the venue is near some plant that gives off a strange grain odor. I have to be honest. By the time I arrived at Biltwell Event Center, which is located a little over a mile from my downtown office, I'd dropped more than a few F-bombs trying to find the urban event center that is well hidden within plain sight. It took me over an hour, seriously, to find Biltwell but once I did and once I was inside all the stress build-up and anxiety over trying to find the place began to disappear as I immersed myself in its stunningly beautiful setting that nearly perfectly weaves together architectural history and contemporary offerings. Built in 1922, what is now the Biltwell Event Center was renovated in 2014 and boasts eight individual event spaces on two floors adding up to 25,000 square feet of event space, a capacity of 1,000, and 300 complimentary parking spaces. They offer built-in audio-visual equipment with tables, chairs, and linens on-site. At night, the second floor offers a pretty remarkable view of downtown Indy which, if you don't get lost like me, is actually only about five minutes away. The in-house caterer is Hoaglin Catering, which is also the Biltwell's sister company. While they do have preferred vendors for other needs, other than Hoaglin being the required caterer you are free to use outside vendors. There is a very nice fire station across the street from Biltwell, though it's a bit set off the street and doesn't negatively impact the ambience. As has been noted in just about every review, this is a highly industrial area of Indianapolis and certainly not the first area you'd think of for a scenic view. The way I arrived, I came in off the IUPUI campus and accessed it via the northern end of White River Parkway. This required going through a virtual dead zone of industry including a long vacant plant (that is crying out to be a movie set) and a couple twists and turns that look like they hide The Walking Dead. Biltwell signage is visible from the street, and boy was I relieved to see it, though pulling into the parking lot it wasn't readily apparent that there was parking in the back. My hope is that there's vastly better accessible parking in the back than the front. The two accessible parking spots in front are abysmal at best - far from ADA compliant and one is so slanted that you're practically begging for your car doors to get scratched. Both were taken upon my arrival, but I did have success parking at the end of the front row. The front entry involves a parking lot incline that, once again, is definitely not ADA compliant and not particularly disability friendly. This is especially weird since once you get inside the building, accessibility is not much of an issue with available accessible restrooms and an elevator, I believe freight but still an elevator, up to the 2nd floor.Biltwell would be an idea choice as a wedding venue, either the ceremony or reception easily being accommodated here with seating for up to 450 even on the 2nd floor. The exposed brick and natural woods create a remarkable aura of luxury. I wouldn't quite say Biltwell falls into the "affordable" category, but given their different event spaces they do have a variety of options that are more affordable than you might think. They can definitely fall into the high-end category, but for small businesses and special occasions you definitely have some options here. I found the audio acoustics a little off during the event I attended; this may also have been the speakers involved and their ability to adapt to the sound system. I had a hard time hearing one speaker and not much of a problem with the second. While not in the greatest area, Biltwell Event Center is an event spot worthy of being a destination location. While I'm not willing to go the 5th star, I'd easily return and if by some earth-shattering miracle I ever marry again this would be a place I'd consider for my celebration. More...

This is a huge venue! First off, left me apologies to the powers that be of Yelp...Its been almost 2 weeks and I'm just now doing this review. Slacking much...I know, just really working a lot. Anyway, the venue was great. It was Yelp's My Big Fat Fake Wedding or something like that...what an awesome event. I pictures of a lot of the vendors available. I would say the best vendors, in my opinion, were Nada (I'm kinda biased, by a lot) and Yummy's. This lady had the absolute best Mexican Wedding Cakes I've ever tasted...even though that was all she had, she really showed everyone that she is truly a friendly person who is very human. She was the only one to come out of her table and give away samples...then everyone else began walking around passing them out, and she started dancing with us. You cant get more friendlier than that. I understand it was about networking opportunities and expanding your business but there is nothing better than laying down the apron, getting out their with the people and enjoying your life to the fullest at ANY given moment. Mogul's was another favorite of mine that evening...they had this grapefruit drink, made with almond rose water/syrup (I don't remember, it's been 2 weeks)...it was tart but sweet at the same time. I think I had 3 of them Nevertheless, that drink was everything!!! One of my other fav spots was in the building...Just Pop In!!! Their flavors are amazingly great!!! I wish they would've given me a huge bag of the beer cheese and spicy cheddar. I need that in my life right now. Bar-Be-Q Heaven was really good. I got the brisket sandwich...tender and full of flavor, with pickled onions, lettuce, and bar-be-q sauce...who wouldn't like that? A Vegetarian. Sushi Boss was good, Reggae Grill's Jerk Chicken...that was REALLY delicious. I should've brought a to-go container...amazingly delicious. Chef George from A&M Bakery...such a great guy! His Carrot Cake...moist, fluffy, sweet, cream cheese icing...what more could you ask for? I hadn't had a carrot cake that good in a very long time! Wick's Pies, Southern Butter Pecan was really good and gooey. I was quite amazed how good it was, considering I've grown up on that pie. It wasn't too sweet, I guess I'm used to the pecans being salted to counter the sweet, which makes it seem sweeter...that sweet and salty balance is a game changer when its done right. Their pecans weren't salted but it was still really good. Ok I gotta cut this one short, gotta get back to work but this event was great!!!! I was lucky enough to attend Indianapolis Monthly's Best of Indy even here a few days ago at this amazing event space. Getting to the event space I had to put some faith in my GPS because the location just minutes from the heart of downtown and in an area I deem as industrial. There is plenty of parking behind the building and the event I attended had a valet service. Upon walking to the entrance of the building, I did not know what to expect but once those doors opened I was blown away. There is a majestic wooden staircase that leads you to a large open space upstairs. The lighting was soft and perfect. Not harsh and industrial like I would have imagined. I was really blown away with how large the space it. The window around the exterior of the room are large and brilliantly adorn with a rustic bar like shelf. Perfect for propping up on while noshing on some food during happy hour. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because of the walk to the front door from the parking area was a bit tricky. They've only hosted three weddings so far, so you can be one of the first to explore this new space! It doesn't look like a whole lot from the outside...in fact, you'll wonder, did MapQuest lead me the right way? But inside you'll find tons of space on the first and second floors, a grand wooden staircase, two freight elevators that are the size of a room and could fit lounge furniture, and a gorgeous speakeasy-vibe bar area on the first floor. This space can be anything you want it to be and more!A huge plus: there are outlets GALORE. Power can be tricky at events to find an outlet and have extension cords everywhere. Biltwell was smart and has them on every single pillar, which are every sixteen feet. You won't have any issues powering up!The lighting is perfect and the space has endless possibilities. Can't wait to see what fun events take place in this unique space! More...

I was here for the 8th Pattern magazine launch. The facility on the outside left me a little skeptical (especially the parking for how big it is on the inside. )  We walked in downstairs and it's very open - very warehouse like. Not bad. Then we walk upstairs and.... WOWZA!!! This place is GORGEOUS! I would venture to guess they could hold 500+ even with table and chairs, but I'm no expert. Gorgeous wood work to mix with the warehouse feel. Also - you can walk out on the roof to catch some fresh air. Just don't do so after you've had a few. There's no railings up to stop you if you're feeling brave. The only really real complaint I had was that the bar didn't accept credit/debit cards. I don't know if this is a regular kind of thing or if it was this way just for the event, but definitely worth asking. More...
