UPDATE: Lindsay, the owner, reached out to me after seeing my review and offered me a redo. She put in some face framing layers, told me I had some damaged ends that needed to come off, gave me a treatment, and advised me on styling. Even though it seemed like she cut almost nothing off, whatever she did made a big difference. My hair is falling nicely now and I am getting compliments on the cut. I am beyond thrilled with my results, and I can't recommend Bella Bethesda enough! Ashley expertly blended my hair and fixed my faded ombre by darkening my hair while letting subtle highlight shine through. I had a general idea of what I wanted: going darker so my roots don't show while growing my hair out, keeping subtle highlights, and having a healthier look. Today was the first time going to this salon. Let me tell you I couldn't be happier. As soon as I walked it the welcoming staff was so friendly. They hung up my coat, gave me a little robe, and offered me a drink. I saw the stylist named Ashley and she did an absolute amazing job on my hair. She listened to what I asked for and delivered. I was nervous at first because I wasn't sure how'd they'd be with my hair (super think, curly, & wild mixed hair) but she washed, cut (while it was curly), and blow-dried my hair for an amazing price! & again looked amazing. What a cute little salon! I came here looking for someone expert in cutting women's short hair. Nicole was the one doing it, and she's not too bad! I never had anyone dry cut my hair, so that was a new experience, but it turned out alright! The cost was a bit steep, but since I was desperate to get a haircut and my usual guy was on vacation, I figured it was worth it. The salon is clean and cozy and very well lit. It's located on the second floor, so you can't really see it from street level on Elm Street. Just look for the Potbelly's and you're there. There's an ATM just outside the salon to get cash to tip the stylist. The salon is happy to break change for you as well. More...

I had a vision for my hair: I knew that I wanted it super short and with highlights. I took a picture from google with me of course, but I definitely needed assistance with the details. Ashley was my stylist and she did an AMAZING job! I feel much more like myself, and I have gotten TONS of compliments. I added the purple color (overtone) myself, but the ground work was all Ashley''s masterpiece! I am SO happy with it! I have included a before photo, the photo of Ashley's work (before the purple), and one after I added the color. I requested highlights so that the overtone would pop more. She did an amazing job getting the highlights as blond as possible (see photo). I couldn't have imagined just how much this wonderful vision of a haircut would boost my confidence! Additionally, Bella Bethesda is a wonderful salon. They give you cute robes to wear, super delicious lemon water and coffee/tea if you'd like, and there are lots of windows so it's sunny and inviting! A day after writing a review stating that l left the salon unhappy with the haircut and color I received, the owner called me from her home on a Saturday morning and offered to make things right. She was very kind and offered to have me come in again and leave satisfied with my hair. However, scheduling conflicts prevented that from happening. So instead she gave me a refund and I scheduled to have another attempt with a different stylist in the coming weeks. More...

Pricey but I liked the haircut that I received. The hair stylist helped me with donating my hair to charity. I would not recommend getting a DevaCurl cut here though. They immediately wanted to wash my hair with shampoo and cut it wet even though I specifically requested a DevaCurl cut. More...

Ngoc did an excellent haircut. My husband had been deployed a year, and I was badly in need of getting the ends trimmed off and a decent current long style ; -) had no problem getting an appointment; and when called slightly lost on the streets of Bethesda, the nice lady walked me to finding this hidden jewel on 2nd floor of Elm St. For those afraid a salon recommends colors or products, they did none of that. Bella Bethesda Salon is truly a hidden jewel tucked away in one of Montgomery County's trendiest areas. If you want to see a master class of styling being done, I highly recommend checking this place out. With professionals of every level and experience, disappontment is a word that is nonexistent here.
