I can't believe this place doesn't have more stars! I was expecting service and food to be ok since I figured it may be more of a tourist attraction and you are paying for ambiance but I was pleasantly surprised. The whole staff was so nice and we were greeted with the corpse bride when we walked in. Yes the food is prefixed but you get a nice variety of options. Our appetizers and main dish were not basic and very delicious. Their presentation was also great with my daughter having scissors on her burger to my razor like in Sweeney Todd on my filet with a sauce that looked like blood. It definitely is a must see!! Our reservation was at 7pm and we arrived earlier. Checked in and the hostess sat us at 6:15 because those people who reserved a table didn't show. Food was amazing. Highly recommend the Mac and cheese and Burger! Jack and sally were the character guest of the night and they were great. More...

We went a few weeks ago. A Georgie from IT impersonater was there. It was cool. Drinks were yummy. Try the Beetlejuice. The absolute best part was our bartender, Dan. We had a good time talking about my husband and I getting married by Beetlejuice in Las Vegas last year. We talked about the Tim Burton art show and realized we will all be there around the same time. Talked IT and about my Tim Burton themed tattoos. Looking forward to Beetlehouse LA and the art exhibit. Hope you are lucky enough to get Dan as your bartender. Just a tip for first timers, bar is cash only. More...

I visited on Saturday, July 13th with a party of six for my friend's bachelorette party. The atmosphere was impressive, though small, and the smoking drinks were fun. We were especially impressed with the actors (Jack Skellington and the Mad Hatter). The food was okay. I heard good things from those who ordered the steaks and not so good things from those who ordered the mac and cheese. It was also a bit off-putting to us that the waitresses were trying to sell us products (lipstick and a cookbook) as soon as we sat down. More...

Food was amazing. I had the Cheshire Mac for my appetizer & Sweeney Beef as my entree which is an 8 oz steak on a bed of mashed potatoes. Portions were acceptable, the steak was thick. The pricing wasn't bad for how much food you get. (It's New York, everything is pricey anyway) I thought the drinks were rather expensive though, I can't drink well liquor so I asked how much the fish bowl would be with upgraded liquors. They would have been able to substitute some but not all & the price would've been $40 so I skipped that. Problem with fruit flies at the bar but I didn't see any around in the dining area. I suggest covers for the liquor, this may help the problem. This restaurant was also COLD. Very cold. So make sure to wear a jacket.. or ask if they'll turn the air off ‍ The decor was tacky, walls need to be painted but it was expected from the other reviews. It's not what you see in the video promoting this restaurant floating around Facebook. The service was awesome from both the bartender & also our waiter. Edward Scissorhands came around, he was nice and took a pic with me. It was as a slow Tuesday night but I wish I would've got to see more characters. I would come back in the future. More...

Such a fun experience & the perfect spot for a Halloween lover. After hearing about it for years, I went there for my Birthday while visiting NYC & I loved it. As soon as you open the door, it's as if you a transported to a Tim Burton Halloween Wonderland. The place is very small but Halloween music from movies is playing, 2 movie Characters socializing w guests, and the decor was mesmerizing. We went around 6:30. There's a bar & I would suggest making reservations as there's only a few dining tables. The drinks are fun and some even bubble. Overall it was smaller but better than I even expected. Everyone is super friendly & fun. All the food and drinks are themed & taken to the next level. The wings were really good, fish was good, but the Sweeney steak is definitely worth trying. The place is captivating for a Halloween lover. More...

On the whole an excellent place to visit, truly unique. My only complaint was the 8oz fillet, I ordered medium, it came out close to well done plus the mashed potato was luke warm. I sent it back only for the chef to send me the same steak with hotter potatoes. He told the server there was nothing wrong with it. The guy on the next table told us that his steak was way overdone too. At $40 I expect a steak to be done how I ask. Everyone else`s food was very good. More...

Our original reservation was for 10pm but we were called at 6:30pm asking if we would be able to reschedule or come in at 9pm instead. Coming from Jersey- we had to rush. When we got there, it was packed and hard to get to the host to get seated. When we finally got seated- we were greeted by our waitress (who was awesome and very attentive). Our food that we ordered was delicious! (Must try the Mac and cheese!) The drinks were strong and worth the price. My only negative comment is, for Saturday night, there should have been more characters walking around. More...

Now here's a place that came as a big surprised only because they really have the whole theme thing down. We had reservations & upon our arrival we were seated right away, menu is a set price we started with some drinks I had the This is Halloween this was very good also tried the Alice's cup of tea .. good as well. Appetizers I had the Mac & cheese small serving but very good nice tasting cheese sauce. Main dish I went with the Steak & mash potatoes good steak cooked well good mash potatoes also gave the vegan Pulled pork sandwich a try this was great as well nice taste. This place also happens to be vegan friendly which is a nice option since our group had a few vegans.  Small location, funky fun decor .. some of the staff is dressed up in characters & perform by singing nice touch. Our waiter was nice & attentive. This is a fun theme place to enjoy some decent food & cocktails . More...

This place is so much fun! And the food, for a themed restaurant, is really good! Lots of great vegan and vegetarian options. My boyfriends 16 year old, horror movie loving cousin was in love with this place. My only two negatives would be that the place is TINY. Trying to get through it is super difficult when the bar is full. And no one really directs you where to go to check in for your reservation, so you stand there awkwardly against the wall for a while until you stop someone to ask. Also. Reservations are a must and it's cash only at the bar. Tables you can use cards :) More...

I finally got to visit here from Florida and was not disappointed! I read a lot of reviews saying that this place was small, not that great and not what they expected but this place was just nothing but amazing. I had a great night at this place, the atmosphere is so unique, inspired by Tim Burton movies, this goth hangout serves amazing food (seriously AMAZING food). It's a small place (I think they seat 42 people at a time) so make a reservation in advance because it's worth it! You wouldn't expect to find the quality of the food I had in this theme little spot. Staff was friendly, service was good; and they have characters that come and go from time to time like the corpse bride. Can't wait to come back to try the cocktails. Some tips: Cash only at the bar, and bring some extra cash if you want to get a souvenir like a t shirt Or hoody, and also to tip the characters (they deserve it, the girl was great, she even sang live). The employees here are the BEST! We were treated better here than anywhere we've ever been (and we've been a lot of places) for absolutely no reason. Everyone from the doorman to the hostess (?), both managers (?), and the men portraying Satan and the Mad Hatter (on July 13) went completely out of their way to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. It was an amazing night. Good drinks, decent food, and solid staff and entertainment. THEY NO LONGER HAVE BEETLEJUICE, which broke my heart, but they said it's because people were taking his (complete in-character) sexual humor to heart. This is a fantastic place to come to if you're a fan of Tim Burton. The art display is your classic favorite movies like Nightmare Before Christmas and of course Beetlejuice. The cocktails are pretty good. It's been awhile but the last time I was there I had the chocolate martini and it was heavenly if you've a chocolate sweet tooth. As for the food, it's American food your regular mill kind of burgers, steaks, mac and cheese kind of joint. A fun ambiance for sure! I'm not picky when it comes to food as long as it's good I'm always down to try new places. This is definitely a must! More...

The two times I've been here, there's been diff characters from classic horror movies or dark comedy walking around. I'm assuming that's to keep it exciting. Really neat idea. The Characters are interactive and stay in their role. Would go back again. Everything on the menu is themed to old movie references. Loved that coco skellington drink. Oh, and it's kid friendly. We went there for Mother's Day. It was so much fun! The actors are awesome, they come to the table in full character! The price was a bit high but everything is so themed out, the drinks are amazing, the food is great, everything would have been perfect except they overbooked and it's a tiny place so they gave us a pop up table at the entrance which was uncomfortable and annoying. They also add a service charge to the bill with an extra spot to tip so we were unsure if that was the tip and figured with the actors all stopping in possibly that service charge was for them? If not, we double tipped, I'm not sure lol but maybe that's why it was about $300 for 5 of us? You could keep the price lower if you find out about that service charge and don't order drinks & desserts? But it was an awesome fun themed experience on Mother's Day so it was worth it to me! First thing to note, if you LOVE Halloween like I do, this is the place for you! It's a Tim Burton bar and from the decor to the music, to the drinks and food - it truly is amazing! One important thing to note before heading here, you need reservations, it is probably one of the tiniest restaurants in NYC so seating is limited. Our reservation was 9:30 but we ended up having an issue with our keys getting stuck in our Airbnb door. We tried calling but their is no way to get through to anyone, only with email. We emailed to tell them what happened and that we were going to be late, but when we arrived they said they didn't get it. We ended up arriving at 9:45 which they told us that the kitchen is now closed. We were so upset because without having issues with our Airbnb for almost 30 mins, we actually would've been early. I was traveling from South Carolina to celebrate my best friends birthday (she lives 2 hours north of the city) and this was one of the only places she really wanted to go. The hostess went and asked the kitchen if they could squeeze us in. LUCKILY they said yes! We quickly ordered drinks and had everything set to order when the waiter returned so we wouldn't waste any time. They have a prefixed menu which includes an appetizer and an entree for $40. First we got our drinks which ranged from $10-$16 give or take. All fresh fruit and to add some shazaz, added some dry ice - it really set the spooky mood! My friend ordered the Mac and cheese as her app and I got the Beet salad.Mac and Cheese was filled with cheesy goodness! It has 3 types of cheeses and topped with bread crumbs and stewed tomatoes. Never thought I would like stewed tomatoes in Mac and cheese but it was actually a great addition! It was baked to perfection. My beat salad was also amazingly light but yet satisfying! It was topped with Greek goddess dressing which was to die for.For entrees I got the 8oz Sweeney Beef Filet mignon, cooked MR, exactly how I like it. The presentation was awesome! It came with a straight razor in the steak over top of mashed potatoes with mushroom and peppers and then drizzled with "blood sauce"! (These people know presentation) My friend got the Edward Burger Hands. That also was presented beautifully with a pair of scissors holding together all the amazing goodies that the burger was topped with. All in all, it was quite the experience. We felt a bit rushed, which I understand since we ran 15 mins late, BUT this is the kind of restaurant you truly need to "experience". I will definitely be back the next time I visit NYC. More...

The food was good and the atmosphere went well with then theme even the food had the theme Incorporated into it. They even had beetle juice there. It was awesome. Their drinks were good but I have 5 different drinks and about 4 shots and still left out of their sober. Had three blood bags, Drinks were definitely watered down and very pricey. Only other down fall is that the place is very small and cramped. But the energy was very inviting. Nice chill place. But you have to make reservations for sure. More...

I took my husband here for his birthday and we had a ton of fun. The staff is incredibly nice. They were so attentive, even on a very busy Saturday. The character actors for Jack and Beetle Juice did an amazing job playing in character and getting everyone engaged. They both stopped by every table to chat and were sure to pay attention to everyone at the bar as well. That included engaging in conversation not just one liners! The food was also delicious. I had the risotto and duck breast, my husband got the salad with peach dressing and steak. The portions were small but equivalent to the price. It's $40 flat per person (extra for additional sides and any drinks) so you're paying basically $20 for two dishes that I would of willingly spent more on to be honest. The drinks were really yummy as well! I made reservations 2 weeks ahead and I definitely recommend you to do so if you're coming during the weekend. Last night was not what was expected, but fun nonetheless! I had been lucky enough to win a contest for a free dinner at Beetle House LA on IG. We went last night as a belated Anniversary dinner, or that was the plan. When we got there, we were told there was no dinner or reservations for Tues nights. Slightly bummed & confused, we talked it over with Dan & Gabe, they were overly apologetic & accommodating! They had given us drinks on the House, & a couple of free shirts to give back for our troubles. They were really understanding with us coming out from Riverside to be there, & felt bad that our plans had fallen through. But they made it up to us with such nice gifts & accommodation, still offering us our free dinner for another time! So we stayed for Tues Improv Night, & sipped our drinks having some good laughs! A wonderful place, creepy & quirky just like Burton himself. And such nice staff, I couldn't believe it... & still can't, so impressed! So things may not have turned out like planned, but I'm thankful it worked out the way it did! The ambience is awesome, drinks were delicious, & staff are amazing! Can't wait to go back, to enjoy in its entirety! More...

Had the best evening of my life! I've been wanting to go for quite a while, also been tagged by my friends, urging me to go many times and finally that day and dream came true; last Saturday May 5th. I was so excited to be there, it felt like I was finally home. My kind of place, my kind of food/drinks, great attentive and fast service, a wonderful environment to be at. The performances by the characters was on point, very well executed, they were both friendly and funny (Willy Wonka and Jack Skellington), The Freakshow was very entertaining (great performances ladies!), Willy Wonka, thank you for taking my "shy" friend up to the stage for dancing. She really needed to have a good time that night. The environment overall was so inviting and relaxing that honestly, I didn't wanted to leave... I had to because we needed to check more places in L.A. but it made me sad to leave. The decoration of the place was amazingly well put, I couldn't stop taking pictures of everything around me. Great artwork and decor in the walls, great ambience around the lounge/bar area and a lovely-dark restaurant area and stage inside; very cozy. I highly recommend the Beetle House L.A. as a regular hanging spot-place to eat; not only as a "one time" experience. I would work here happily, it's a happy place to be. Thank you for the great service and lovely treatment in our short stay in Los angeles. Best of lucks and much success for this business! More...

Im not sure if you all went to the same bar, your cheap or not a real Tim Burton fan but i had an absolute blast. Food was amazing - worth the $45. Dessert could have been better but i was satisfied w the food so it wasnt that big of a deal. Big fish bowl was tasty and shared w 3. Corpsebride caprese salad was amazing and the sweeny todd beef was delicious. Not a huge Tim Burton fan but the experience was awesome. The freak show and characters that walk around the bar were a cool experience. Overall a fun experience. Our bill was 225 between 5 of us. Our waitress was cool enough to let us split everything. Food was big enough to split and still satisfy the tummy and keep us all full. Id recommend going on a Wednesday or Thursday (we went Wednesday) it was pretty chill More...

Beetle House was first thing they wanted to check out.We hung out in the bar area and we didn't have long wait to get our fishbowl(it was fun watching bar tender make drink). They had good playlist and we danced most of the night.Willy Wonka and Edward Scissorhand was awesome since they were into their character. We walked into dinning area since we saw people going in and out, they had the freak show and movies playing on screen. I absolutely loved everything about this place. I feel that the atmosphere was awesome! I also feel that people overlook the appreciation of everything Tim Burton. It's not just a theme, but it's the appreciation behind it. The staff is really friendly and we had a great conversation with Wonka. Everyone that we interacted with has a sense of humor and I couldn't stop laughing. The food was delicious and people can say it's a little pricey, but it's L.A... if you find something cheap, it's because it is. I can tell they put effort in their food and everything that they do. Well done, beetle house. I will return someday with more friends in tow. More...

Overall, this is a great place! It could use some more Tim Burton themed items and such, but being new, its still very neat! I had a reservation for 7pm, and unfortunately had to wait about 45 minutes or so before we were seated. Kind of expected that with it being new and fully booked for weeks. I was sad to see the LA menu is smaller than the only menu i could find on the website. I was really looking forward to some of the other dishes. However, the food was still great! A bit disappointing that the Fish Bowl drink was missing the nerds and Swedish fish. The staff was very friendly. The actors that were dressed up were fun and engaging! We had the pleasure of seeing The Mad Hatter and Willy Wonky. There was also a small show with a juggler and sword swallower that was pretty neat! More...

The wait staff was so great, and the food was so stinking amazing! Plus the environment and customs, it just made the night that much spectacular! You do need to make reservations for a couple weeks in advance but it's worth it. Oh and just a caution, the music was a little too loud, but it didn't ruin our night. The menu is pre set and costs anywhere from 40-45 depending on what you order, but you get an appetizer, a great main course and dessert! I loved this place! After reading reviews, I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it. The setting was awesome with all the art work and they had a big projector playing scenes from Tim burton movies. They had a freakshow with the girls swallowing swords and on our night we had Edward Scissorhands and Willy Wonka. The characters are really interactive with the guests. But I will say that you're definitely paying for the experience because everything was super expensive and there wasn't many food options. The food was decent. After reading all reviews, i agree with some disagree some . Characters during the dinner was awesome and entertaining, edward scissors hand and wonka was very into their characters and well played , girl doing the freak show was good and pretty or pretty good, now my biggest problem with the place was the price of the food, its a set menu either 40$ or 45$ and the drink i got was 14$ (which was a small glass)i picked 45$ option and my choice was kale salad and steak . I hate kale but end up licking the bottom of the bowl and its was a big portion for an appetizer and when it comes to steak ,i got what i ask for and it was really good . My family seems to enjoy their dishes as well , I recommend steak or the burger strictly .. we were early and in and out took us around 1 hr and server was friendly and talk to us about tim burton, movies and general.. so over all it was ok for us ,my 4 year old mesmerized with the big screen and the movies on so we did not hear him at all.. but again it was a bit pricey for overall experience More...

Came to Beetle House last night to celebrate my birthday with a large party (7). It took a while for our party to complete - which actually worked in our favor, since there was a large party ahead of us who was 'camping' and our table wasn't ready. The hostess was VERY friendly and we honestly didn't mind waiting. Edward Scissorhands came over to our group a number of times to interact with us - and he was EXCELLENT. We were eventually seated at a cozy booth in the very front of the restaurant. It is actually meant for 6, but we felt really happy there. The place is tiny but really interestingly decorated; the ambiance feels very Burtonesque. Our drinks came rather quickly and were very very tasty. I had the Beetles Juice, definitely recommend. Not much in the way of sharing appetizers for the table, but we ordered the bread dish and the side dish with corn. Those came out almost immediately and were delicious. Main courses were also awesome and very generously portioned. One woman in my group ordered the veggie burger and had to double check that it wasn't meat because it tasted exactly like a regular burger. I got the pulled pork sandwich and it was awesome. Our waiter was a little absent, but it also appeared that he was working the entire floor by himself. He was always very nice. Mr. Scissorhands was a highlight. He came over to us often, brought us napkins when we needed them, chatted in character, and took a bunch of photos. For dessert I was brought 3 cupcakes with a candle, and they do sing, so be aware! The cupcakes were OK, nothing to brag about. FYI - there was no issue splitting the check 6 ways - and they do add gratuity for large parties.Overall - we had a fantastic time! Very glad I celebrated my birthday here!! More...

I booked a reservation for September 27th (yesterday) back in May for my boyfriend's birthday. I had heard that they were booked through September but after some investigation I found out this was false. Regardless, I reserved our seating. We got there a little over an hour early so we sat at the bar for drinks. The decor is amazing! What makes it so authentic is that the pieces are all collected from donations to actual prop pieces used in the movies. We started our night with the bio-exorcism which was very good and I should have stuck with that one but I tried one of their signature drinks This Is Halloween and I couldn't drink past a couple of sips. I personally am not a fan of Fireball. We were seated before 7:30pm and taken care of all night by two very friendly and accommodating gentleman. The food was DELICIOUS! My boyfriend ordered the mad shrimp which came out literally in flames! It captured other's attention; I ordered the Edward burger and cheshire mac. I couldn't finish the mac because the burger was huge and SO good! Overall the place was very small (much like we had heard it was) but (unlike what I had read) it was not too expensive at all. He and I collectively spent under $100. We have already decided that we need to go back! More...

Don't believe the bad reviews. I honestly think almost all of these one star reviews are from people who didn't know what they were getting into, but I know perfectly well and had a wonderful time. First off, yes, the space is TINY. I'm talking extremely small. But we both enjoyed it and thought it added to the dining experience. We ended up striking up conversations with both of the groups next to us. We got started with some drinks. I got the Coco Skellington and my girlfriend got the Beetlejuice. Both were /amazing/. Their drink menu is definitely top notch. For starters we had the honey BBQ wings, typical wings, but still delicious. For main I had the Cheshire Mac with chicken and my girlfriend had the Sweeney Beef. Both were outrageously delicious. The Cheshire Mac was creamy and cheesy without being too heavy and the Sweeney Beef came in a red wine reduction to look like blood, but gave the beef a juicy and sweet flavor. For dessert we tried a This Is Halloween drink which was probably the best thing of the night, and then shared a Willy Wonka cake. In short, I loved this place and everything I was served. People looking for anything other than a cozy, themed, dining experience should look elsewhere. More...

An incredible place, so much fun!My girl had heard about it in an article, and thought it would be booked up for the night, but while we were at the Met, she was able to get a reservation! We headed down and grabbed some happy hour drinks from a spot around the corner, and then went in to experience the awesome Tim Burton style spot. The restaurant is small, only around 5 or 6 tables for sit down, and a bar that holds around 10-12 people that can sit and enjoy drinks and food. The servers are all decked out in Halloween, Dark style clothes, and the music is a mix between Tim Burton songs and upbeat music from other films. We had most of the drinks on the drink menu, and all of them were tasty and fantastic in their own way!We ordered the Corn Bucket (Seemed to be just corn, but still good). The Whipped Mash (VERY Good) and the Edward Scissorhands Burger with Sweet Potato Fries and Chipotle Sauce which we split (More then enough for both of us to share!)We loved the vibe, talked for hours, enjoyed our waitress and had a lot of fun.She loved us too! We ended up getting some dessert on the house because we were sweet and fun to serve!  The chocolate cake is awesome too!Expect a few screams here and there when you order one of the special dishes on the menu ;)5 stars, must return, wonderful time!Make reservations, they fill up quick!! Liked it here a lot. The decor is cool. They play great music(most if not all of the music played are from the films). It is a shack of a place, so keep that in mind. The food was delicious. We had their bread and honey Chipotle wings to start. They were both great. My burger was tasty. I had the Edward burger hands(although I could have sworn it came with guac, I Def didn't have any guac in there). The burger comes with sweet potato fries, which I don't love but I don't hate. My wife got the deconstructed pot pie.  I had some of that and loved it. My daughter ordered some shrimp meal(maybe "mad shrimp").  It comes out flaming which was cool.  I tasted the bed of the shrimp, which was a mofongo base, I didn't like it at all.  It was made with sweet plantain instead of green. We didn't   try any of the desserts. The only small part I disliked was that there were no free refills on the fountain sodas. Especially for the amount they charge and the size of the glass. We spent less on the beer I drank than on soda. That being said, I wouldnt shy away from here just because of soda squabbles. I'd just drink beer instead(decent selection of beer). The service was also top notch. The wait staff was terrific. They were  all over us and we never waited for anything.  Overall I highly recommend! More...

Beetlejuice was my favorite part about the whole experience. He was always in character, tastefully funny and never annoying. Cool ass dude. The food however, was tasty, but I have a personal thing against food tasting sweet and a lot of the dishes has this honey garlic butter thing in it. I had the Mac and cheese and something about it was sweet. My fat ass only ate half because it was really heavy. The waitress was really attentive and when we asked for changes in our meals they didn't have a problem like others have said. The food was good and had lots of flavor and the drinks were strong. I was really excited to check this place out after hearing that a Beetlejuice-themed bar was coming to town since I love all things Tim Burton. I'm not kidding- my favorite exhibit was the Tim Burton one at the MoMa, and I've seen all of his movies. But I digress... Anyway, back to the review: So even though this bar is fairly small, the Tim Burton memorabilia is great. The names of the drinks are based on his movies and were pretty good. The prices for their cocktails are fairly standard for NYC. All in all, I would probably return. More...

The atmosphere was welcoming, our drinks were amazing and our food came out really fast! I ordered the mad shrimp and it literally came out on fire. The only downside was that Beetlejuice was not there and it was a Friday night nor was anyone really in character. More...

Booked 2 months ago to get a 6:30pm slot. It is a very small (dark) place but the food/drinks were so good. It took me for surprise. It wasn't overcrowded either. My boyfriend and I started with The Beetles Juice drinks which were very tasty. Pot pie - I picked this as my entree; comes in a bowl, creamy, instead of a puff top pastry it comes with 3 cube slides of cornbread. It was delicious! ($24)Mac&cheese - I couldn't stop eating it! It was medium size shell pasta. We got the side dish portion and it would of been big enough as just my meal. (Like $10)Corn bucket - got this as a side; basically looks like corn with breadcrumbs on top. So many flavors but a little on the dryer side. (Like $8)Willy burger - my boyfriends entree which he said he was cautious to order it with so many random items in it but the flavors all really compliment each other. The waitress let him exchange the fries for garlic mash which was a great choice. Not too garlicky. You get one round scoop. (Like $16)Overall we were very pleased but wished they had more desserts and that we would of saw BeetleJuice. They only had carrot cake to choose from and said it changes everyday. More...

Beetle House is fun. That's the easiest way to describe it, but for the sake of a full review, I'll go into details. As you've read in other reviews, the place is cozy. It's in the E.Vill though, so you should be expecting that before you even get off the subway. They did a great job decorating and using the space wisely, with Tim Burton-themed art on the walls (but not to a tacky level), purple lighting, and the waitresses and servers in simple costumes to add to it. Again, not over the top - it's a delicate balance between a themed bar/restaurant and a tacky tourist trap, and they ride it well. We had dinner reservations, and were sat immediately upon arrival (actually got an automated text notification on our walk over that our table was ready), and had no problems with the service at all. The pace was relaxed, which was nice to not be shoved out the door. The drinks are strong, worth the cost, and will last you your whole time there if you aren't looking to get smashed. The food was OK, I ordered the Mac N Cheese, which was not bad except that it had no cheese in it - was more of a cream sauce. I would have hoped for more for $20. I tried some of the girl's pulled pork, and it was excellent. The dessert, a lemon cheesecake, was also delicious. All in all I'd return, the Betelgeuse character they had there was SPOT ON with the character... definitely added more fun to the evening! More...

I'd been to Beetle House during its soft open and wasn't too impressed. However, after several months of operation, the place seems to have improved vastly. The wait staff was fun and knowledgeable. The drinks and food were also much better than before. It's a tad on the small, but it's fun if you're into Tim Burton stuff. Oh - one thing -- know that the bar is cash only, but you can pay by card if you're seated at a table. There's an ATM at a nearby deli, but none at Beetle House. More...

The food and atmosphere was great! Our 1st round of drinks were amazing! 2nd round were pretty strong, but we powered through lol. I enjoyed the music, but at times it was hard to hear (even the waitress couldn't hear me order) the conversation. I wish Beetlejuice would have visited us. I felt a bit ignored, but whatever it is what it is. Hands down it was worth the bill and I'd go again! 8.9/10!!!! More...

This was definitely one of the places I will have to bring people who visit from different states. Very creative, love all the props and workers being dressed up. Drinks were amazing and food was delicious. One small thing I'd recommend is to just play nothing but Tim Burton movie soundtracks, I think it just gives it a much better vibe. But overall a great experience and totally worth it. Oh and to the people who live above the bar...if you have a problem with noise, you can move out. You signed up for this when you moved in. If I were you, I'd take the earlier, close-to-opening-date reviews with a grain of salt.Thursday nights in NYC - as you may or may not know - tend to be just as nutso as Fridays and Saturdays. From the bar to the service, you never know if something will fall short.I'm a Tim Burton fanatic. I'm also into 80s goth rock, new wave, current indie, etc. I also despise touristy, themed restaurants.Imagine my delight when I entered and saw that this place was an intimate bar and dining space, with a gothy feel and Tim Burton inspired artwork. The hostess, server, and busboys? Not over the top, at all. Super relaxed and chill, which was a nice surprise. The resident Betelgeuse? Spot on and super fun. The music selection was everything I could have hoped for: a mix of goth/80s/indie rock peppered with soundtracks to the Burton films. The overall experience definitely warrants return trips. I could see myself popping in just to sit at the bar.So how were our cocktails? Both the Sparky's Minty Margarita and the Glen or Glenda were strong (yay!), but I have to say that the Glen or Glenda reigned superior. It was delicious, spicy, and expertly mixed.Though the shrimp dish served engulfed in flames looked pretty bad a**, I had to go with the highly recommended Victor Van Pork. SO GOOD. The honey garlic butter bun didn't really translate but certainly didn't detract from the delicious flavors of the dish. The Corn Bucket was a tasty side that used just the kernels and not the whole cob. The Cheshire Mac didn't quite live up to expectations: the sweet stewed tomato sauce was interesting, but the dish could have greatly benefited from more of an actual cheesy sauce. One of their dessert offerings for the night was a lemon "tart" - this was a New York style lemon cheesecake with a layer of meringue on top. Definitely enough for two people to share and sinfully delicious. So there you have it. I believe it's been exactly two months since Beetle House opened, and I am so happy to see that they've settled into their groove. If you haven't gone yet, do so..but relax, and remember that it's inspired..not a gimmicky tourist trap. More...

True.. Revamped dive bar with "Tim" decor. It's dim for a reason. Food was good, drinks amazing , waitress n bartender excellent however the bus boys were a lil close to comfort, considering the place is so tiny, I didn't make it an issue. The bathrooms are dive bar"esk" but what really killed it for me was those roach scented napkins. I get New York has a roach problem but seriously people... For those prices, I'd expect a lil more. Beetle House is hard to get reservations to since it seems that NYC is filled with Tim Burton fans.  So after a month of anticipation, I finally got to visit the home of the strange and unusual.  It is a really tight space but it makes it up with the food and drinks.  I was greeted at the door by Beetlejuice himself.  So I should mention that I brought my toddler-aged daughter with me since I couldn't get a babysitter.  My concern was that she would be scared by Beetlejuice so I showed her the animated series but there was no need since the Beetlejuice here was kid-friendly.So the first thing I ordered was a drink called "This is Halloween," which tasted just like Halloween as promised by the Yelpers who have already been here. You can taste the perfect combination of apple cider and pumpkin with just the first sip.  This love child of Fall and Halloween is pretty strong so I would suggest just one if you are a lightweight like me.  I came with my sister who had the Fish Bowl, which she wasn't able to finish because as the ice melted, the more there was to drink.  According to my sister, it didn't make the alcohol in the drink any less potent. For food, we both ordered "Edward Burger Hands" with sweet potato fries.  The burger was so big and juicy while the fries were sweet.  My sister ordered a side of Chesire's Mac N Cheese, which she shared with me because it was generously-served.The waitress (dressed in Steampunk uniform) was very friendly and was very helpful in explaining our dishes to us.  When it was time to order dessert, I was disappointed because they didn't have the Willy Wonka chocolate cake that I saw on Yelp.  It was explained to me that the baker makes a different dessert each day depending on the ingredients that he has in his kitchen.  That day, he made banana bread pudding, which tasted great.  The atmosphere was so great at this place that we ended up befriending the couple sitting next to us who were visiting from England.  Overall, Beetle House is a very creative bar/restaurant to go to if you're into the theme and trying out new things.  I already made my reservation for Halloween weekend because I have a feeling that it is going to be much more amazing than it is now, especially since they are seeking more talent to dress up as Tim Burton movie characters. My boyfriend is a huge Tim Burton fan so once we heard they opened up a themed restaurant we had to check it out. We had to make reservations 2 months in advance. Food was really good. I had the Edward Burger Hands and there was so much flavor to it! The drinks were a little pricey, but good as well. I read a ton of reviews that said the drinks were watered down, mine wasn't. The only downside was that the service was a little slow, but probably only because they had one waitress so the poor girl could only do so much. The wall art was pretty cool too. Overall, I enjoyed it, would probably go back again! More...

Friendly staff (Alicia was so great!), good food (gluten-free chicken wings!), good strong drinks, fun music, great decor to create the ambiance, and a visit by Beetlejuice in the [rotting] flesh himself (played charmingly and sardonically by Jimmy Dalton) - all of it made for a very fun experience! Let's start by saying, I'm not one for theme based places, but somehow, someway I enjoyed it. Different than most places I've been. The location is very easy to find, took a cab from GCT, took about 20 minutes to get there and that was going down 5th Ave. I waited longer for a cab than the actual ride. When we got to the bar Beetlejuice greeted us at the door, which was unexpected, but inviting. The place was packed, always a good sign. We were able to get a table in the corner of the bar, which was amazing seeing how they are booked out until August. The drink menu was good, with the drinks named after those Tim Burton characters we all grew to love. From Nightmare before Christmas, Alice in Wonderland, and obviously Beetlejuice.  Along with the food. I didn't eat, but some of those with me did and enjoyed it very much. Again named and adapted from characters. I did have the Edwards Lemonade, essentially an old fashioned, as the first one wasn't that strong for a bourbon based cocktail, the second one on the other hand, much better. Overall a fun place to go with friends when in the East Village. From the guy dressed as Beetlejuice to the hostess looking just like Winona Ryder's character Lydia Deetz. This place will make you jump in the line. So enjoy it as I did, and remember "It's Showtime!" More...

Jeebus people, just have fun! The negative reviews for this place are pretty hilarious, when you walk go into a Tim Burton themed bar you should expect things to be a little, "off". I mean there's a grown man dressed, as a movie character running around claiming his drinks will get you pregnant. I didn't eat here, I just hung at the bar and enjoyed my time sipping drinks, chatting with Tim Burton lovers, and watching Beetle Juice creep on every lady who walked into the place, it was awesome. The Beetle House is very small and long so try and get here early in order to get a spot at the bar otherwise you'll been waiting a while for a seat. If want to eat you have to make a reservation, no reservation, no eat. I went with "Edward's Lemonade" which is basically Old Fashioned with orange bitters. A solid drink that wasn't as sweet as a normal old fashioned, they use Bulleit Rye, which is a pretty standard whiskey base these days. My Beetle House partner in crime went with the, "Beetles Juice", Muddled blackberry and limes, Tequila, Blackberry schnapps, Angostura bitters and cranberry. This was very good and super refreshing and from what Beetle Juice told us may cause pregnancy. - A fun night out. Check- Decent drinks. Check- Random pictures of your favorite Tim Burton scenes. Double Check. To quote a great man, "Never trust the living" - Beetle Juice. More...

Apparently getting a reservation here is a big deal, my roommate said that they're booked almost two months out or something like that. A group of us came here after work just to check it out and grab some drinks at the bar, but when we arrived, the hostess asked us if we were eating dinner and that if we wanted to sit down, she could squeeze us in. AMAZING! We walked though to a small table in the back, and I just have to say, the decor is really great, so many cool art pieces and references to Tim Burton movies. We all ordered a drink from their special menu, I had the Glen or Glenda, which was basically a mango margarita with chipotle powder for a nice kick. This drink was delicious and would 100% recommend if you like a little heat. For dinner, I ordered the Edward Burgerhands. The burger itself was really good, they use good quality meat here. Topped with avocado slices, lettuce, a fried egg, some kind of sauce (i can't remember), bacon and pepperjack cheese, I was drooling at the site of this burger. It really was awesome. My avocado looked like it could have been a bit fresher, but that's my only complaint for this visit. The burger comes with sweet potato fries which were great, and I hate sweet potato fries. Our server was super nice, really helpful when my group mates had a bunch of questions about the drinks and the menu, and her and the rest of the staff were dressed to fit the theme. It is a little pricy here, my bill for one drink and a burger was around $37 dollars or so, but this is the kind of place were youre paying for the theme and the ambiance. The food and drink really was good though.A great experience if you happen to be on the LES. More...

We stopped in here for afternoon drinks 'cause my local friend wanted to check it out.  We weren't disappointed.  My companions asked the annoying question "what drink should I try" of the bartender Christian (I know I'm misspelling your name) and rather than getting annoyed he asked us each enough questions to rationally make a recommendation.  He was spot on...all four of us got something we enjoyed.  The Halloween/pumpkin drink was incredibly good (my bourbon based drink, the Barnabus Collins was also quite excellent) although that's not what I had.  Christian (again, sorry about the misspelling) was friendly, helpful and entertaining...great bartender!Nice ambiance and I'll definitely revisit it next time I'm in NYC. He definitely make this place worth going to.Decor was cool- basically steam punk meets Tim burton. Not as over the top Tim Burton as one might think.Drinks were creative. As an avid Tim Burton fan, once I heard this place was opening I knew I had to schedule my birthday dinner there. I placed my reservations before the place even opened and sort of hoped for the best. I got worried about a week or two ago reading some lackluster reviews, but I put those fears aside and still went. And I'm glad I did. My boyfriend and I had 5pm reservations and were seated right away by our (kickass) server Alicia. I ordered the This Is Halloween! cocktail and holy mother of god, it's fall in a glass. I'm hellbent on recreating this drink at home. We both ordered the Veggie Corpse Burger ("all veggie patty, topped with sautéed mushrooms and onions in a red wine balsamicreduction with a toasted bun, and avocado tomato, lettuce and roasted peppers") with sweet potato fries and our food came out pretty quickly. The red wine balsamic reduction was to die for, and it made the burger look like it was dripping blood (Disclaimer: This burger makes a mess!) which was highly amusing, and I readily mopped up the delicious mess with the fries. Easily the best veggie burger I've ever had. Checking in on us again, Alicia asked if we wanted dessert to which my boyfriend said "That's all you if you want something, birthday girl," to which Alicia sweetly replied with a "Happy birthday" and told me their options. I opted for their chocolate ganache cake. To my surprise, she came out with my cake and a birthday candle with it (it's the little things, y'know?) and wished me a happy birthday again. The cake was super chocolatey and rich, so good. She brought us our check and surprised us by letting us know the dessert was on them! It was a sweet gesture. The restaurant itself is quite small and dark (I know that's been said a million times before) but it's cozy. The bathrooms are a bit small, but ah well. The decor is great, not ALL Burton memorabilia but everything goes very well with the atmosphere. Betelgeuse himself was not there for our visit, but having his character there was not a big selling point for us as it seems to be for other reviewers. All in all our experience and the service we received was fantastic, and I definitely want to make the pilgrimage (we're from Massachusetts) again to try more eerie elixirs and creepy cuisine (I'm looking at you, Nine Martini and Chesire Mac & Cheese), perhaps closer to Halloween next time! Had to check out this place when I heard about it - theme bars are great! Like most places in the East Village, the space is VERY small and cramped which can get annoying when it's crowded. However, the drinks and the experience made up for that. I shared the Big Fish Bowl with a friend and it packed a decent punch for both of us, which is good considering it's pretty expensive. Beetle Juice himself roaming around the bar kept everyone entertained :) I like the place overall and it was a fun experience, but it's probably only worth a visit once considering how pricey the drinks are. It started out poorly as we received a significant amount of attitude from the woman behind the bar. We walked in at 3:56 , mind you we had 4PM reservations, the woman snapped at us telling us that they don't open until 4 and we should wait outside. Really?....if you don't want people walking in right when you open don't take reservations for 4PM , make the first seating at 4:15 or 4:30. So the experience started poorly but our server , Alicia , was fantastic from the start and made the rest of our time at the Beetlehouse most enjoyable. The rest of the staff was also equally as pleasant and accomodating.Drinks were amazing , Beetles Juice highly recommended. The food was awesome , Edward Burger Hands is a top 5 burger in my book. The dessert was delicious , Wonka Chocolate Cake was great (but they didn't have coffee ).All in all we had a wonderful time. This place is awesome! Our experience started with the Beetlejuice doorman. This guy was amazing...he had Michael Keaton and the character down cold. He must be an actor, maybe from nearby NYU, and never broke character. It was fun interacting with him and also watching him mess with the staff. This was very entertaining and started a great experience. The restaurant is dark and mysterious with cool Tim Burton items on the wall. They have a super cool music playlist with lots of Danny Elfman and great songs. We also had a very nice server in a Tim Burton movie-type corset. Food was great. Drinks were great too. Today we encountered the brand new restaurant Beetle House in NYC. Traffic was horrible and despite leaving two hours prior we were 20 minutes late to our reservation. The king himself Betelgeuse greeted us and walked us to our table. Our tardiness was also no big deal. Let me just say, this place is d-a-r-k. I'm glad I had familiarized myself with the menu prior because it was just a little hard to read with only the assistance of a tea light. We each ordered a cocktail. I got Alice's Cup of Tea and my boyfriend Zachary had The Nine martini. Mine was essentially a peach LIT and I loved it. Zachary's green martini, although pretty and scene fitting, was incredibly strong and hard to drink. We had the Our Veruca honey garlic wings as an appetizer. Strongly suggest an appetizer because dinner takes a long time (it's worth the wait though!) and these wings were awesome. I had the Sweeney Beef and Zach the Edward Burgerhands burger. They don't say that sides are included so we assumed it was all separate but the steak comes with garlic mashed potatoes and the burger sweet potato fries. Additionally, we ordered the Cheshire Mac and The Corn Bucket. Our entrees were to die for, no pun intended. We were big fans of all our sides except The Corn Bucket. It was $12 and essentially tasted like someone opened a can of corn and tossed some Romano cheese and breadcrumbs on it. Not bad, but not worth $12. Especially when the Mac and cheese was drool worthy and decadent and only $10. We were super pleased with dinner as a whole. The place is small but cozy. The staff is helpful and efficient and the decor was fitting but not over the top which I personally liked. I suggest going with a group as opposed to with just one other person because it's fun watching Beetlejuice interact and spook all the guests in a particular party. I don't suggest bringing anyone under 13. Although Burton has made plenty of kids movies, this place is for grown up kids.  I personally give it a 4/5! More...

This place is a great take on a Tim Burton inspired haunt. It's perfect place to grab a drink or two as a kick off for a special night out, but not necessarily to become your new favorite happy hour hang spot. Be forewarned, it is narrow, half tables and half the bar area, so if you are easily annoyed when people are up in your space, you might find it difficult to relax. The drinks are expensive, but not ridiculously so, for how strong they are and the amount of fresh ingredients in them. As for the decor - it's the perfect nod at the Tim Burton aesthetic, without coming off as too cheesy or Disneyworld. Fun, but still sophisticated enough, and to be honest, they're probably already skirting as close to copyright issues as possible. Been here a few times (including during their opening week when honestly, I think they were overwhelmed with the viral response), and I can say that the whole place livens up when the man of the hour is in the bar, usually it seems to be on Fridays, Saturdays only, at the moment. The actor playing him is fantastic - a mix of creepy, crude, silly, but also friendly and approachable. He's great at keeping people entertained while they wait for tables, seems perfectly willing to take about 10,000 photos or snapchats with people, but also manages to nail the Beetlejuice voice and sass perfectly. If you can laugh at yourself, be goofy, a bit dorky, and have a demon or two in your closet, this is the place for you. More...

To everyone who went during their opening week and then complained and gave bad reviews....go back to this place. This place was so fun and we had a great time. It's floor to ceiling Tim Burton. Its got the dark feel that Burton loves.  They play the soundtracks to all his movies which was cool.  The waitress, Jeanie, was AMAZING.  Her outfit was adorable and she was the absolute sweetest, very attentive.  The food came out pretty quick after ordering. We had:Nightmare Wings - really good (not HOT HOT HOT but have a good kick to them) i think there were 9 to an orderCheshire Mac and Cheese - i LOVE mac-n-cheese, this was a good one. not overly cheesy or  creamy. The tomatoes are an interesting touch. Mad Shrimp - The shrimp was cooked perfectly, the tails came off so easily. The bed of plantain/pepper mixture was really good as well.  And it comes out on fire, so cool.Edward Burger Hands - So GOOD! the egg, avocado, bacon, really make the burger. it was cooked well and didn't fall apart like alot of "messy" burgers do I love it pot pie -  The cornbread top was a great twist and really good (and I'm picky with corn bread) The filling was creamy and the chicken was moistVictor Van Pork - the pulled pork was flavored well and sauced perfectly -- it wasn't dripping in BBQ sauce, which I HATE, and at the same time wasn't even close to dry.  The pickled egg that comes with was actually really good - it was our first time trying such a thing. And we topped it off with dessert - Queen of Hearts Red velvet cake. -- it came out warm! it was really good, the frosting was a little overly sweet but the raspberry jam and crystallized candy piece on top were delicious. For drinks we had the CoCo Skellington and the "this is halloween" -- both really good and REALLY strong, a rarity in NYC. Most of the dishes are fairly priced (aside from the Sweeney Beef - it sounds really good but $30 for 8 oz? not happening). Drink prices were average for NYC but as i said they were STRONG so at least you're not paying for half water. Beetleguese wasn't around the night we went, but we were told they are trying to hire more characters so we'll obviously be back to check that out. All around great place - I'm sure they'll do well. We'll definitely be back! More...

Hi Guys! I just wanted to reach out and let you know what a wonderful experience my friends and I had last night! So i would say this place is very touristy but i was shocked at the yumminess of the food and quality of service! we booked a reservation for a friends party and all had a fantastic time! We all enjoyed the beetleguese juiece and alice's tea the best, and all of us were more than pleased with our food! I was very impressed with the waitress/manager who was super friendly and also on top of things! my friend ordered the mad shrimp without chorizo she didn't know its because hes pescatarian, so when he asked again about the mofongo she immidiately asked oh you don't eat meat? what else can i get you? We all truly had a fantastic time and were well taken care of! we all agreed though as people from L.A. It did feel very much like dinner in the haunted mansion. I was worried when i read all the wierd reviews but this is truly a fun restaraunt. i wouldn't recommend it as a go to hang out but if you are a transplant to NYC who loves to show people/visitors a great time I would definitley hit up this spot as well as their will ferrell bar! Both are a lot of fun and a great night out!!! More...

Tight fit,  but staff was accommodating.    A bit frustrating how impossible it is to try and contact them to change reservations after making them,  essentially impossible.    That being said the food was good,  the atmosphere was fun and the service was outstanding.  Go in expecting a Burton inspired place, and not the Burton MOMA exhibit and you should enjoy yourself. Great service from start to finish, was here for fleet week and was not aware you need a reservation. Was found a table and had a great waitress, I think her name was Lacey. Got the fishbowl for two and they let us split between three people. For dinner had the Edward scissor hands burger and the chicken pot pie. Both were delicious. Food and drinks were quick, great service, and awesome artwork to go with the Edward burton themed place. Would recommend. More...

I absolutely loved this bar. I'm not from the city but I saw a video of this bar and I had to make an appearance there being a fan of Tim Burton. The restaurant didn't disappoint one bit! It is like you're walking into a haunted house with booze, what more can you ask for?! Plus you have beetle juice walking around bringing the place to life. The food here is amazing btw! I had the Edward Burger Hands and it was awesome. I highly recommend you come to this restaurant for the theme and the overall fantastic service that you will receive when you come! More...

After reading all the horrible reviews, I almost decided to cancel my reservation, and thank god I didn't! And I really suggest you reconsider your cancellation and check this place out for yourself. My boyfriend and I had a reservation for 9pm. When we walked in, we were greeted by the staff and seated right away. Place was half-empty (thanks to all the cancellations they had), but the bar was full. Our waitress was extremely nice (I think her name was Kelsey? Gosh, I wish my memory was better) and helpful. We got a fish bowl (which was delicious! Perfect amount of all the ingredients) for two, chicken wings (we chose salted garlic sauce, and - omg - one of the best wings I've had ever), my boyfriend got the burger (which he couldn't stop raving about), and I got chicken pot pie (a bowl of heaven, so tasty!). Overall, all food was very good! The only item they were out of was steak taquitos. Not a big deal. The wait for the drink was ~10 minutes, for food - 20 minutes. I'd say, on a quicker side compared to other places in NYC. The decor was simple but cute, the music was great (some Tim Burton's films soundtracks, obviously, with some regular music in the mix also), and we didn't hear the same song twice the entire hour we were there.Overall, very pleasant visit! Don't believe all the negative reviews, as everybody has their own experience!PS: They do accept credit cards if you dine with them, but they do not accept credit cards at the bar. More...

What a fun place. The girls are beautiful, hair/makeup/dresses! The decor is just right. I think people are expecting to walk on to a movie set - which is leading to some of their bad reviews? The space is tiny and intimate, perfect in my opinion because Beetlejuice can spend more quality time with us. He's a real hoot. He had two of us jump out of our seats, loved it! We had such a great time! First we started at the bar and then moved to the table in the front. Tried a couple of drinks, wanted to try them all really. The Coco Skellington was YUMMY, the Chocolate Chocolate Martini was good too. We ordered The Beetle Bread to share as we were only there for a quick drink. Arriving as soon as they opened, 4:00pm so it wasn't super packed. All the patrons seemed happy and ALL of us were having fun! The music is fantastic, can't wait to go back! More...

Loved it!!! We went for dinner tonight and the service was AMAZING! We were greeted and seated by Jim. He was busy assisting other diners, but made sure to greet us and tend to us as quickly as possible. Jeanie was our waitress and she was great! She filled our water glasses and took our drink orders within minutes of us being seated. She also helped us with our questions regarding the menu, I was torn between the burger and the mac n cheese for my entree and thankfully Jeanie pointed out that I could order the burger and get the mac n cheese side, boom problem solved!!! I'm so stuffed writing this review, but I just couldn't wait to let everyone know how good this place is.  We ordered the Our Veruca wings as an appetizer, the wings were big, crispy and tasty! I had the Edward Burger Hands burger, the bacon was crispy, the egg was cooked to perfection, the meat was seasoned well and the bun was the perfect size and texture so it didn't get soggy with the egg yolk, sriracha cream and honey butter garlic. The burger came with sweet potatoe fries, also on point!!! I also had a side order of thr Cheshire Mac, wow!!! So creamy and delicious, and the sweet stewed tomato was an interesting and pleasant surprise. The drinks were good as well! I had the Big Fish Bowl, yes it says it's for 2 people, but I knew we were going to be there a while so I was going to have at least 2 drinks anyway, might as well just have 1 big one! I couldn't get dessert after our meal, I was too busy eating all of the Swedish Fish and Nerds candy from the bottom of my drink!!! My friend had the Fleet Street Martini, she really likes Fireball and she loved it. I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the food on their menu, though they are currently booked through September so it will be a while before I can go back. The service and the food were amazing, I would definitely recommend this place! Yes this place is tiny, it's located in the LES, of course it's going to be small. But we never had a space issue, we just enjoyed our time there. The Beetle Juice guy only works weekends, so we missed him. But that's okay, yet another reason to go back! The place is small and dark, but your eyes adjust after a little bit. Lots of Tim Burton inspired art work. I can't speak much about the decor since I like Tim Burton, but I'm not a huge fan so I can't critique that aspect. All I can say is that we had a great time, the service was great as was the food! I am a huge Tim Burton fan so as soon as I heard about this restaurant I made reservations for my husband and I to go.  I was prepared for the decor because I'd read the yelp reviews before going, if I didn't I guess I could understand why people were disappointed.  There could've been more but they did a good job with what was there. I absolutely loved listening to all the soundtracks while we were there, it made my night!  We got the beetle bread (goood but bread a little over done) and the Cheshire mac, which was good! I got the "This is Halloween" drink, and it was good, but I really like fireball. Again, can see why people are complaining because the drinks weren't all too consistent, my husbands drink filled only 3/4 of the glass while mine was over flowing, but overall they were good- very alcohol heavy (not a complain on my part!). The Beetlejuice made my night.  Once he came out and started walking around and interacting with everyone it was awesome.  Couldn't ask for anything more!  Seriously I couldn't stop smiling. I actually ordered another drink after we were all done just so I could stay a little longer to watch him and interact with him! I do wish they had a hostess though, whenever we called we couldn't get through, and I could see it was confusing for people who were trying to get seated, etc.  A hostess would help a lot. Also didn't realize it only seats about 30 people, which explains how resos got booked so quick!Overall, I think people are being way too critical.  You need to take this for what it is! A brand new restaurant/bar, trying to figure it out, with a great theme that, yea, they could've done a little more with, but it is still awesome. Like it's a fricken Tim Burton themed bar that plays the soundtracks and has a real Beetlejuice walk around all night.  Get over yourself! This place is great. Go give it a try, even if you can only stand at the bar and get a drink.  It's worth it, can't wait to go back. More...

It was my first time coming here last night and I absolutely loved it! My boyfriend and I split the fishbowl for our beverage and we each got the Edward Burgerhands for our meal. The toasted bun and the burger being a tad burnt (which I prefer) made it taste amazing.Only reason I gave 4 stars is because Beetlejuice was not there. I asked the waitress why and she said he's only there on Fridays and Saturdays. If you intend on going here just to see Beetlejuice make sure you make a reservation on a Friday or Saturday. I definitely plan on going back to see him! More...

Let me start by saying that I was hesitant to go to Beetle house after reading the negative reviews on Yelp. Flaws of the place: *It is too great of a concept to be in such small confinement. this is where they lose a star. From the moment I stepped in its to small of a place to have a hostess so It took a minute to go to the back because it was crowded at the bar and I just didn't know where to go. I finally decided to go to the back after weaving through people where BeetleJuice greeted my party and I (super great guy who was in character the whole time, loved every minute of it) and sat us at our table within a few minutes. Then we meet our waitress. Super friendly lady (didn't get her name though) throughout the whole time we were there. Could not find a complaint about her. *The drinks were amazing!I had the "We Come In Peace" which was creamy with a hint of cinnamon, my wife had the "Bio-Exorcism" which tasted  really refreshing and reminded her of summer, and my sister had the " This is Halloween" (which was pretty much pumpkin EVERRRRRRYYYTHIIIIIIINNNNNNGa but the Fireball came through pretty strong) but not bad at all. * The food was awesome! I love wings so I went with the "Nightmare" and the "Hello Alice" wings to start. I would have gotten more (like the fat ass I am) had I known how good they would be. My wife and I shared the "Edward Burger Hands", which had I not filled up on the wings I would have finished off my half of the burger...and hers! Lol. It was really, really good. Then to top it off you get sweet potato fries with Sriracha mayo sauce on the side, and I friggin loved it! We also ordered the "Corn Bucket". Now mind you, I thoughtI was full until I tried the corn bucket! I could not put it down not for the life of me ( I felt so glutinous). I had to give it to my sister so 1. She could to take it away from me, and 2. So I would not finish it all by myself, it was that good. I loved the place. Try it out see what you think. I had fun being there the whole time. More...

I give it 4 stars because although the food is insanely delicious and savory, the portions are a tad small..... for the price. One can argue it's NYC prices..... which is true. But it's so quaint, cozy and the wait staff are amazing..... plus the food and drinks are so delicious. Yes the drinks are pricey (this coming from a girl who rather drink at home then pay NYC bar prices), but the drinks are WORTH the price. They taste so good and pack a punch. Really amazing and unique flavors in thier Alice's tea cup (ode to long island), beetle juice (blackberries and a kick of tequila) and another drink with orange blossom and  orange zest.  We shared beetle bread (so good), the wings (so savory and shrimp mofongo so delicious. Again only complaint was the dishes were small but it was truly delicious I don't care... worth it.Tha place is tiny, I wish it was bigger but non the less I had a great time. The music was great (all Tim burtonesk).  The wait staff were insanely friendly, accommodating and in character. I freaking loved it.  Just go in with an open mind. Place is small, portions are small, it's just a tad pricey..... just a tad. But they seriously make up for it in flavor, nice delicious strong drinks and great service..... again this is coming from a born and raised (36 years), I rather drink at home, I'm broke living here manhattanite/New Yorker. I went in around 9pm on a Tuesday evening with my boyfriend. We didn't have reservations but we got super lucky and they were able to accommodate us. The decor was really beautiful and the red candles and speakers blasting depeche mode added to the dark and intimate vibe. The staff were dressed in Tim Burton character costumes and were very  friendly and checked on us throughout the meal (ie; refilling water, asking if we need anything). I got the corpse veggie burger (?) and he got the Cheshire mac n cheese, and we got Pilseners beers. We both appreciated the fact that they had lots of vegetarian substitute options. Next time I definitely want to try out the cocktails. 5/5 Would go back, recommend. More...

But let's get to the food,  I ordered the nightmare wings...... banging I must say.  And I also go the Sweeney Beef with garlic mashed potatoes....this dish was absolutely phenomenal, especially the potatoes which were delicious. Other people i were with ordered the Mad Shrimp...they said that it was very delicious, and two also ordered the Edward Burgerhands.....and their were no complaints from the either. And for dessert I got the Wonka Chocolate cake, with a candle added and everyone sang happy birthday so I felt very special. But the cake was absolutely amazing. For drinks I ordered This is Halloween....tastes like halloween in a glass, and I also ordered the Fleet Street martini..  also a delicious drink. I came back to beetle house for the second time to try out the food. The food was incredible. I had the Edward burger hands and my bf had the Cheshire Mac. Best burger I have ever tried and same goes for the mac and cheese. I tried the beetle juice drink and it was amazing,  tasted delicious. I did notice they added more to their walls since the last time I went (before the grand opening). Beetle House is wonderful! Located in the heart of the Village it's a place that locals can enjoy, as well as tourists who want to venture out of the craziness of Times Square can appreciate as a hidden gem. The Burton-esque decor and themed music create a dark and magical ambience that allows for room to just escape from the outside world. The food is "to die for" and the drinks pack a punch for sure! I had the Alice's Cup o'Tea to start, The Beetle Bread as an appetizer, Sweeney Beef(the best steak I think they have ever had), and Wonka Chocolate Cake for dessert(which one of the bartender's moms actually makes all of their dessert!). Our server Lacey was right on top of everything and the remaining service staff was impeccable. Even Beetlejuice was being the ghost host with the most and bringing us silverware and our check in between juggling oranges and reciting lines from the movie. The food is pricy for what you get the portions are a little small. All the staff was very friendly. I ordered the Coco Skellington cocktail. It was perfect! The best way to describe it is a new twist on a piña colada. My friend got the Bio Exorcist cocktail. It was similar to a gin and tonic but with cucumber. It was very refreshing! We also ordered the Southern Violet wings, and they were awesome!!! The space was a little small but I think they utilized it very well. The decorations are great too! Lots of Tim Burton-inspired art. The music was perfect! The beetle juice drink is yummers had the sirloin steak delish for starters we had the nightmare wings which were not insanely hot they were just right! The place is small but they have great personality and really attentive.  The lighting in here is everything the music sets the tone. Really enjoyed this place! The atmosphere is definitely something you'd picture out of a Tim Burton movie, with mood lighting and all. The waiters/waitresses were super duper nice and all had awesome uniforms/costumes. The only complaint is that the place is very very narrow, so everyone is basically sitting on top of one another. Seriously, you have to move your table to sit down. The food was great, tad pricey, but what do you expect from a NYC bar? We had the beetle bread, the sweet potato fries, and mac and cheese. We had a great experience at Beetle House. The food was really good (especially for a small bar/restaurant).  We had the mac & cheese and the deconstructed pot pie. Yummers. Also, the staff was really hospitable-- we were 30 minutes late due to traffic, and they accommodated us anyway.  When we told our waitress we had a show to catch, she made sure our food came right out.  Some reviewers seem disappointed there isn't more Tim Burton stuff, but the bottomline is that the decor IS goth themed and NYC hasn't had a bar like this in many years (all the ones I used to go to closed).  This is a welcome addition to downtown. As soon as I heard of a Tim Burton Themed bar I knew I had to go and experience this. My friend and I went during their soft opening so there was a limited menu. We started our night with the drinks known as "This Is Halloween", which were #perfection. Following our drinks we started with the "BBQ Buffalo Chicken" that were savory and moist. Then we enjoyed our dinner selection which was the "I Love It Potpie". It was creamy and smooth. Our other selection was the "Victory Van Pork" which was a new twist to the classic pulled pork sandwich. Everything we ate was beyond our expectations and was worth the trip into the city. My friend and I would #highlyreccomend the #beetlehousenyc, #restaurant, #bar to anyone who wants to enjoy a meal that is inspired by Tim Burton. Next time we will not fill up so that we can have room for dinner. The only reason I did not give this location 5 starts is due to the decor. My friend and I expected to see Tim Burton's work throughout the bar. Most of it was in the front located by the bar. We sat in the back which had some interesting framed pieces, but not what we were expecting. I would have loved to see if the worm from Beetle Juice movie was hiding behind some painting, maybe a costume from one of his movies, or more music that came from his movies (while hearing the music, my friend and I had fun trying to remember which movie each song was associated with). The staff was amazing. They were friendly, informative, and were good with removing our dishes after we finished the food on each plate. Their costumes were inspiring and I enjoyed having them serve us. More...

The soft opening shows a place which is off to a good start. I was a huge fan/frequent customer of Confessional, the space that is now Beetle House. It carries a similar vibe centered around an earnest approach to customer service and a dark, sexy vibe.  And it has Erica, the unbelievably fabulous owner of Confessional. She alone is worth the visit. A rare gem. The space does need more Burton "memorabilia", but I'm told that is coming. On the limited menu during the preview, I really enjoyed the Beetle Bread and Especially the Edward Burger Hands. A top notch, super flavorful burger that I would put in my top 10. I'm a whiskey guy, and LOVED the Barnabas, which is actually a variation of my favorite cocktail from Confessional days. This place has the right vibe right now. As others have mentioned, they're still in the soft open phase. I mentioned to the boy a Beetlejuice themed bar had just opened and he pretty much demanded we go immediately. It's about a block away from Drom, a bar that does some steampunk and burlesque events, so if you're in the area it might be fun to pair the two places up and make a night of it (that's what we did). We walked in on a Tuesday around 10pm and there was only one open seat at the bar, while every table but one in the back was empty. We walked towards the back and the bartender asked if we had a reservation, explaining they were booking out way in advance even if it didn't look crowded. Sure enough, a large table came in moments later, so keep that in mind. They have a lengthy themed cocktail list but are only serving four drinks from that list on any given night while they figure out what works. It's mainly twists on familiar drinks, I do remember blackberries being featured quite a bit. I stuck with a beer. The decor is minimal for now but interesting, mostly Tim Burton related framed pieces, with some more random items in the back. Shackles, some kind of coral perhaps, etc. For now they do have a resident Beetlejuice haunting the joint, available for photos and other hijinks, which is neat. We don't have enough tummlers anymore, in my humble opinion. More...

This bar is so cool!! Decor: the decor in this bar is totally Tim Burton with a mix of elegance and class.  If you love Tim Burton movies or are in the mood for a different vibe - this bar is awesomeRestaurant: the restaurant (dinner) is reservation only! So make your reservations now because the seats fill up quick! The menu is full of fun titles with an interesting menu of items.Bar: Erika (our bartender) was the best!  She took care of our group (4 people) all night.  We tried the Fleet Street martini, Bio-Exorcist, the Headless Horseman, beers on tap and wine.  Personally, the Bio-exorcist was my favorite specialty cocktail because it was delightful and refreshing, but the headless horseman was also great because it was a different and unique cocktail.I can't wait to come back and try the Beetlejuice or come back for brunch. I came here for their soft opening. It was amazing!!! The drinks were yummy. The food was great. Beetle juice was fantastic!  The servers were so sweet and helpful.  I read some of these reviews. People are crazy! Soft opening means there are going to be the occasional hiccup and an occasional bump until the HARD OPENING. I can't wait until the real opening. The place is almost flawless and so sexy,  fun now!! We harsh rest time and are coming back on saturday :) More...

I'm going to start off by saying that this place literally JUST opened - it's been only a week or so.  That being said - the wait staff was amazing, the bartender was super nice and they were so accommodating.  We waited about 15 minutes for our reservation but the hostess made sure that we knew she didn't forget us. The food was fantastic! We ordered the mac & cheese and the pulled pork and split it and it was more than enough for both of us. I highly suggest this place! More...

Before coming to the bar the boyfriend and I re-watched beetlejuice to get all hyped up about going to check out this themed bar. I was super excited to not only go get drinks and some thing to eat but to have an experience as well. On the cab ride over I read all these negative reviews and was starting to think to myself shit is this place going to be all hype and no substance? But when I got there I was pleasantly surprised. Yes it's small but its not like they can knock down a wall and make the place bigger. It is what it is. The decor was dark with really interesting art on the walls. The hostess and bartenders were dressed in the gothic style and the music was the soundtracks to different time burton. While there the boyfriend and I ordered, Alice's cup of tea ($14) , and a Jack skellington ($14) and an order of wings ($12) with the Veruca Salt garlic honey sauce. The drinks were strong, and the wings were crispy and tender as well as the sauce was a nice sweet and salty sticky sauce. All in all I enjoyed the experience the drinks were tasty, the food was good, and the ambiance was fun. As we were wrapping up our meal the hostess came by and asked us what we thought of the place and if there was anything we would change or improve. It really sounds like they are working though the kinks and yes CASH only during the soft opening but they will take Credit cards when they open May 6th! I say if you are on the fence about this place just check it out. And if it's not your cup of tea then off with your head! Hahahahaha Jk but really I thought this was a great experience and I wanted to leave my point of view here for anyone who was on the fence. More...

First off - this place is just finding it's legs. But! The potential is there. The bartender told us right when we sat down - our grand opening is May 6th - so we are not at full menu. These are the growing pains of a bar. They're just finding what works and doesn't. Only doing 4 cocktails a night at a time is a great way to pace out your menu. I've gone through all the reviews for the place - it's small, it's narrow - that isn't gonna change. But you work around it.If you like Tim Burton (not my thing), if you like the music of Danny Elfman (which i do) - this is a great idea which will build on itself and get better. It's just working out the kinks. For people to complain about a bar in it's soft opening with such vingear is ridiculous: how many ice buckets, and the space BEHIND the bar! Just silly.Staff, cocktails, and food - what I took from the place is they're really trying. And so far it's great, and it's only gonna get better. Erica, behind the bar is fantastic! Her cocktails were spot on. The Glen or Glenda is out of this world. And, that was from the limited menu! Erica has a way of making you feel at home. Which at the end of the day is what you want when you walk into a bar, right?I'm looking forward to going back and trying more of the Tim Burton inspired cocktails and food. Really happy to have this new gem as an addition to our neighborhood. More...

Amazing food and drinks! We ordered the wings and The Butcher's Stew. Both were very flavorful. Love the Beetlejuice that roams around the bar. He's got the music and lines down!  We'll definitely be back. More...
