I feel like I really only leave reviews when I’m disappointed in food/service but this place deserves some recognition. I mean come onnnnn the food here is seriously AMAZING and I’m pretty sure I crave it at least once a week. I get the smoked brisket with sweet cornbread and potato salad and it’s seriously to die for. I’ve told so many people I know to try this place out because it’s THAT good. The owner is also super nice and is very interactive / has conversations with his customers and making sure every tastes ok (honestly not sure how anyone could say no) but I think that makes a difference and it definitely doesn’t go unnoticed. When I told the man behind the counter it was my first time there he put down a slab of brisket, cut me off a chunk, and changed my life. The flavor was blissful. I'd never had beef taste that melt in your mouth good before. Today's visit was everything I'd hoped it would be. At least as far as the protein portion of my selection. Ordered the 2 meat meal, which includes 2 sides. I chose Beef Tips and the Back Ribs. I doubled the White Mac n Cheese for the sides. Meats were awesome, except for the inclusion of several large cartridge pieces which amounted to two mouthfuls being spit out. Delicious and tender inside, and the blackened edges were still absolutely the right finish. The ribs were damned awesome. I just returned to them since finishing the words at the end of this writing. These are hands down, the best I've tasted perhaps ever! Sadly the Mac was both not totally fresh tasting, but not old either.  But it was rather pasty, and still tasting of the roux more than the cheese. Pasta was at a good consistency. I should've just ordered the one Mac and had the slaw. All in, it's still the best BBQ (or very nearly the best) being offered in Madison this past years time. More...

First off, the food, wow. Brisket is from the gods, Mac and cheese makes you drool, potato salad is perfection, cornbread out of this world. Staff is super friendly with personality. Funny story. One staff member starts speaking to me in Arabic. I tell him that I’m actually Puerto Rican and he starts speaking to me in Spanish and refers me to his coworker. Beware of the woman beggar loitering in the parking lot. She accosted me as I was exiting Walgreens before I reached my actual destination of this place. Pleading her sad sack story, so I handed her the coins in my pocket, and as I was reaching into the other pocket to pullout a couple paper bills I notice that she's throwing he pennies and even the dimes away! I informed her that if a quarter was the smallest denomination she accepted, as a beggar no less, than she could piss off. She called me a tight MF A-hole cracker. Over a decade of traveling Texas/Oklahoma/Kansas/Colorado for good BBQ, then I moved to Wisconsin and had all but given up. Beef Butter is good BBQ. Pulled pork had good flavor and wasn't mushy, the brisket had good pull to it, and the fat/meat ratio was done just right. The ribs were well seasoned, but my only picky complaint would be that they were too tender. The bones pulled out without leaving the plate. The sausage was great too, excellent flavor and just the right amount of smoke with that perfect snap in the bite.Overall, I cant really complain, most places do one thing really well, these guys do a lot really well. So delicious, and nice large, clean seating area with lots of space. Order at the counter / immediate service format is very convenient. Live "pit cams" show the smoking in process - very cool. The meat is amazing, perfectly done. Place is legit. All the staff were helpful and friendly. Our family visiting Madison were hoping for good bbq and we found this place, everyone was impressed. I want to update my original review. I went back a second time and the sausage was freaking perfect!!! I was so excited when I saw it. I knew exactly how it was gonna have that snap and amazingness I was loo for. I do wanna say I did ask for pickles and onions again and was told again they didn't have. I enjoyed the brisket I ordered for takeout. The sides that came with it were good as well. I know I got the sweet cornbread but I cannot remember what my second side was, maybe coleslaw. For me, barbecue is less about the meat and more about the sauce. There were three options available from Beef Butter BBQ and all of them were VERY similar to each other. I think one clearly had a bit more kick to it but at the end of the brisket, they all had the same flavor profile. While good, I do like a nice variety to satiate my culinary mood. More...

This was hands down the best barbecue I've ever had. The ribs were more than fall off the bone the most tender juicy ribs I have ever had in my life. I went back the next day for the brisket and I can say the same for the brisket very tender very juicy very buttery.
