Came here for lunch and it was wonderful! The Bellini with strawberries was so refreshing! Amazing  pizza!! The service was great-- he was kind and funny and answered a bunch of questions I asked since I'm visiting! Will be back again!!

Excellent Italian food, cozy ambiance and friendly service. From the outside you might not notice this place and might almost walk right by.  The back is actually quite spacious and quaint so walk in and check it out.  You wouldn't even see the back section from the street.Four of us shared two salads (Fresca snd Rustica) and they were both delicious, with very generous portions.  There was plenty for all of us.  For our entrees, I had a special of the day (homemade linguine with saffron sauce and shrimp).  I really enjoyed it.  Others in our group had the tagliatelle with short rib ragu (tomato-based sauce).  Everyone loved their dinner.  The table next to us had pizza, which looked amazing.  They looked very large for individual pies.  I will get that next time!For dessert we shared the tiramisu, which was light and yummy.  We will definitely be back again! Delicious pizza, moderate prices, nice ambiance and friendly staff (waitress Elumenia is very polite and helpful and the gentleman who was host was also very friendly). I went there for the first time on a Friday night around 8:30pm and there were some empty tables so I don't think a reservation is necessary. My wife and I had a delicious meal here this week. The atmosphere is rustic and romantic. Started with the grilled octopus salad that had a healthy and tasty portion of octopus and a tasty combo of well seasoned veggies. We both went for the brick oven pizza - nice sized Quattro formaggi and margarita personal pies. The cheeses were fresh and creamy. The crusts were perfectly charred and the sauce was light and flavorful. They reheated up just as tasty the next day. Valentino, the owner, and Barbara, our waitress, were welcoming and gracious. A complimentary shot of lemon cello was appreciated. I guess all restaurants mandatorily deserve a revisit. If anyone ever posts a review good or bad they should revisit the establishment. That itself must be awkward since you have to show up like some wannabe food critic or a defender of good food grub league. I'm the latter. I've been here over 2o times in the last year. You reviewers may be right about having a bleep or two in your first time experience but not everyone has a perfect outing the first night especially if your a critic. I've had two not so great outings in Basils out of the many visits. The complaint is never the food or price it's usually the service. This is my favorite Italian Restaurant in Queens. I don't like the oven pizza title it takes away from the great food selection. What I do love is the owner Hugo and his brother Valentino, Felipe, Antonio, Barbara, Luka, Chef The Italian German and staff. It's definitely a fine dining experience with real Italian authenticity. Last night I threw my business 25th anniversary, it was a success! 30 Guest and they accommodated 6 additional guest who showed up uninvited. Last night I had the privilege of meeting Adriano their father. I see where they get their attire and well manners from. Great job Adriano. I know that when they are lacking service staff, Hugo and Valentino jump in. They cook serve or make you excellent drinks. Yesterday everything was perfect for my 36 guests. This is what great food takes to prepare for your enjoyment. So please if your not embarrassed about your slight bleep experience on your post. I'm sure Basil staff considers it water under the Triboro Bridge. My favorite dishes  in order either the steaks Ribeye or the Churasco with truffle fries and Broccoli Rabe, Seafood black linguini, Lobster ravioli, the grilled octopus with potatoes and drizzled perfectly every time with some secret marinade. Ahh and my napolitana pizza with anchovies. If you miss dining in Italia or France go to Basil brick oven for that European fine dining experience. For you hipsters and younger diners you can impress anyone at this hidden Italian gem, without putting a hole in your pocket or stiffing the waiters. This restaurant is consistently excellent, and my husband and I have never been disappointed. Their service and their food get five stars from me. The owner is from Italy and it shows in the authentic recipes- from the appetizers to the mains to the pizzas. I have never been disappointed. Try the Fettuccine al Antonio. It has the slightest hint of truffle oil and is perfectly balanced- this coming from someone who used to hate truffle oil! Their pizzas range from simple to complex, but always delightful. Their service is amazing and their new head chef constantly comes and greets the customers and has such a wonderful energy. The menu is filled with spectacular options although it is a little long. The food is so fresh seeing as how they make their own mozzarella every morning. The wonderful lady's that work here are always happy and bright and treat you with the best attitude. Highly recommended. We came on Valentine's Day and even with all other customers I felt like I had personal service. They were warm, welcoming and attentative. Our water glasses were never empty for more than a minute, and the food was delicious! Before we even ate my date and I agreed we had to return. The most amazing pizza place in the city!! If you live in Astoria you must go and if you live in the city take the train! My husband and I had one of the most magical nights ever . The pizza was to die for and the wine was top-notch and the dessert--out of this world! Not to mention the service was so unexpectedly magical and kind I was just blown away! I left feeling happier! We were in Manhattan for the weekend from upstate and ventured into a Astoria on the way home to go to SingleCut brewery. we decided we needed some good pizza before we got on the road to go home . So we googled best pizza in Astoria and Basil came up on the list and caught our fancy because of the brick oven. From the moment we stopped in there I knew we made a great choice! The pizza was outstanding and amazing delicious,wonderful, perfect! I got one with crispy cooked prosciutto and fresh arugula and my husband had the Gabriella and thought the homemade meatballs were sooo good! You would think the pizza would be the best part of our experience but it was actually the wonderful ambiance and the hospitable service we received! Thee smells combined with the soft Italian music playing in the background and the way they treated us...it felt like home to me. I think maybe it was the owner, combined with a delightful waitress who took care of us. The experience was just perfect and the place is just so warm and cozy inside ...as are the people! And I might add the nicest, cleanest bathroom I had been in all weekend! This place is the best and if I lived locally they'd get my business over and over again!! More...

First of all, enormous shout out to my man Valentino. Manager, server, bartender, and friend. I just moved to New York and it was my first dinner out, first night in the city. He had us with the most attentive-yet not invasive- service, excellent course timing, extreme friendliness, and impeccable hospitality. Free shots of Limoncello helped as well. The food was insanely good, I ordered the Gnocchi al Pesto which I immensely enjoyed, despite being too full to finish even half of it. Shrimp scampi app - this was incredibly good and came with cooked pizza dough for dipping in the scampi sauce... will get an order of actual shrimp scampi next time it was that good. 5/5The pizzas were good two people can split one with an app and be full.Service was slow because they were getting a delivery of ingredient needed for dinner service.. they gave us a complimentary wine and beer and offered excellent customer service and we were appreciative.Would return and recommend. Wow! Wow! Wow! There is no other way to describe this place! We ended up coming here due to my sister's cravings. its almost her due date n she has been dreaming about pizza the whole week. For the surrounding area, it is one of the best meals I've had in the neighborhood. Interior is very nice, rustic, and bigger than I expected. I kept my pizza simple and just got a plain pie, and it was really good and a good size for 1 person to be full from. The sauce was sweet and delicious, and you could really taste that it was brick oven pizza. We got the ricotta cheesecake and tiramisu for dessert, I like the tiramisu more and it had a really strong flavor. The ricotta cheesecake was different and lemony tasting, and it was also pretty tasty. The service was a bit slow towards the end of our meal, and we actually sat around for about 40 minutes without being checked on to see if we needed the check or anything else.
