Barry's Pizza

Hadn't been here in 22 years. My friend took me here when I first interviewed in Houston before moving here.  Took the family to see the Christmas lights in River Oaks, and we stopped at Barry's for some pizza before heading home.  First thing we noticed was how good the sauce was. Very fresh and clean tasting. The food was excellent and service friendly and laid back. This is my son's favorite pizza spot. We have been coming here for at least 6 years it is always being fantastic. Only this time pizza took way too long, but delicious as usual, we were offer a sample of beer (Thank you by the way ) but I am taking medicine and couldn't have any beer last night,  the server was attentive and friendly can't remember her name but looks like she's going to be mom soon. ( forgive me if I'm wrong) and the busser was on top of everything  super fast Hispanic guy!! Very friendly as well. Anyways besides the long wait for Food. It was a nice family dinner.  In fact I'm writing while enjoying leftovers lol. Thank you...  you guys Rock More...

Best deep dish pizza ive had in a looooong time. I haven't tried the pan pizza but I will have to try it as well. They are a little pricey but their is a Yelp coupon for first timers.

After driving past Barry's for about 13 years, I decided to stop in.  The hostess came outside and opened the door for me and greeted me, then promptly sat me - it was about  7:45ish. I ordered the Meatball Appetizer which is about 7-8 normal sized meatballs with melted mozzerella on top.  It was a good starter, and not too big that it fills you up.  It was hot and the meatballs were tender.  I ordered the small hand tossed cheese pizza, with extra cheese and it came out piping HOT!  Overall, the pizza taste is pretty good, I'd rate it a B+. Quite strangely probably the best pizza I have ever had and it was located in Hobby Airport! I ended up getting to the airport and through security an hour and a half before my boarding time. I went to Barry's and had plenty of time to kill. They were out of pepperoni pizza, but had no problem throwing in a fresh one to be made. The wait really wasn't that long, maybe 10-15 minutes. For airport food, Barry's was very good in term of taste and price. I had the one slice pizza combo that came with a small salad and large drink at $14. 34 including tax. There were eight pizza choices and I went with the Barry's special. The slice was huge and it contained pepperoni, sausage, ham, onion, and green pepper. Barry's is my favorite in Houston for deep dish pizza and antipasto salad.  They are consistently excellent.  The pizza sauce is spot on for flavor.  The deep dish crust is perfectly browned.  We always get hamburger, onion and garlic.  The antipasto salad has the perfect mix of greens, cheese, meats, olives, peppers, artichoke hearts.  But the real star of the show is their house Italian dressing.  It is quite tempting to lick the plate, but I hold myself back. At our most recent visit today, Kyle, our waiter was attentive, friendly, and efficient.Update 10/27/2019:  Barry's rolled out their new menu, so we had to check on whether our favorites were impacted. 1) Antipasto Salad. Verdict: The new one is more chopped so it is easier to eat, but it seems a bit smaller. Still, it's an efficient vehicle to deliver Barry's House Italian dressing so I'm sure I'll learn to love the new salad.  2) Detroit style deep dish pizza. Still the best anywhere! Being from Chicago I know good deep dish pizza and this was pretty good. It's more of a detroit-style pizza but I like the crispiness of the crust. I'm like Chicago pizza is more bread than toppings but the flavor was pretty good. I would definitely recommend trying Barrys More...

I was scared at first to try another pizza place in Houston as I've been let down before by the pizza joints here. Honestly, this is by far the best pizza in Houston. The pizza is cooked perfectly every time and the cheese they use on their pizza is to die for! Also, the delivery is fast and the staff is friendly. I was unaware of the deep dish option so I will definitely be trying that soon, but there hand tossed is hard to beat. Barry's has solid Detroit style pizza that they label as deep dish. Personally haven't found much good pizza in Houston period, so they get a vote of confidence for holding me down. Great tangy spiced sauce, solid toppings, right amount of cheese every time. Barrys pizza is the place to go if you like good pizza. They also have the best wings! The bar is always a good place to chill and have a couple beers while you wait for food. One bartender in particular, Lucas, is always right on it. Never lets a beer get empty without asking if you want another. The staff is always very knowledgeable about the menu. On several occasions I've had excellent service from Walt, Travis, Joannie, Bryan, Rob and Nasim. I must say, I've noticed Barrys is upping their game as well. My Mother Daughter and I have been proud patrons of Barry’s since I can remember. I’ve been coming here literally my entire 34 yr old life. It’s a biweekly Friday night tradition for us and as I’ve cherished the memories I know that my daughter will feel the same at my age. The Store Manager Chris and his team of staff are all truly exceptional. We often get the same wait staff when we dine in and they each treat us like friends of their own by going out of their way to remember the details of how we dine by small and thoughtful gestures like...getting bundles of extra napkins and extra forks after salad, knowing my moms wine preference. The bartender Tom will talk to you and tell trivia jokes when you decide to dine alone to avoid you feeling alone. The bus guy (can’t recall his name) is on-top of his duties everyday without fault by refilling drinks to helping the wait staff and clearing the tables ASAP. I’ve never once had a bad salad, pizza, bread stick or dessert in all my years of coming here. All of these things keep us coming and have our future business along with the next generation. My personal menu suggestions : if you’ve never ordered the ANTIPASTA SALAD, do it and do it now because it’s awesome!!!! If your family is like mine when it comes to the “style of pizza debate”, trust me when I say they are both divine and totally different.
