BalancePoint offers personal training and classes for self-defense and kickboxing. The staff is friendly and committed to teaching proper technique so that you can achieve your fitness goals. My wife has been taking personal training from Rose for the last few years and we both take kickboxing every Thursday. If you are looking for a way to jump start your fitness routine, check them out. I started going to Balance Point about a year and a half after having an emergency liver transplant. I was in rough shape and my doctors kept encouraging me to get more exercise. I couldn't sit up enough to get out of bed. Lynda was so kind and patient with me. She was able to work around all my health issues and get my core back into action. After a few months with her, I was better than I had been before the surgery. I am so very thankful. More...

Working out with Rose was one of the best things I could have ever done for myself.  She quickly assessed my fitness level and tailored our workouts to improve my overall condition and tone.  Since I wasn't interested in losing weight, we worked on building muscle and firming and toning.  Each session Rose came with an individualized plan of action.  She has a plethora of exercises which made working out fun, it was never boring or monotonous.  She gently pushed me when I needed to be pushed and recognized when things were getting too intense.  Rose is a calm, intuitive, caring trainer who really knows a lot about what she does.  I went back to college with a much better knowledge of how to keep myself fit, and a series of exercises to help keep me healthy.  It was a real pleasure to learn from Rose, she is a truly wonderful person and trainer. BalancePoint Fitness is operated by Lynda, who offers both personal training and fitness classes within her studio space. I've been working with her for more than two years . When I met her, I was fairly inactive, and she basically taught me how to exercise. After that, I was inspired to explore other physical activities on my own, but I still meet with her once a week for strength training. I train with a friend and we split the hourly cost, which is nice.A typical one-hour session for us consists of a warm-up; stretching; a variety of strength exercises targeting arms, legs, and core; post-workout stretching, and a discussion in which we can identify/discuss physical and/or nutritional goals for the week. The exercises vary depending on how we're feeling (she'll do modifications for injuries/illnesses), personal preference, and whether Lynda has learned something new and exciting that she wants to try. She's big on using body resistance over machines, which I like, so there are a lot of free weights and floor exercises involved, but we've also used a weight machine, kettle bells, trampoline, bosu balls, stability balls, medicine balls, and resistance bands, among other things. Her studio has an elliptical, treadmill, and cardio bike as well.Lynda is incredibly easygoing, flexible, caring, and non-judgmental. She knows how to challenge me without pushing me to a point of discomfort, and she recognizes that people have different goals and motivations in exercising. She's always willing to give advice about fitness and nutrition, both in person and via email. The fitness classes are a recent addition since she's just moved to a studio with space for them; she teaches a couple and brings in specialized instructors for the rest. I spent about a year and a half taking classes with the cardio kickboxing instructor, and those were a BLAST. I'll be trying the yoga class that's starting up soon. Lynda also offers group personal training classes, where she instructs a small handful of people for a lower hourly rate. More...
