Matt, Kyle, and the training staff at NW Fitness Project have created an amazing community of athletes from all fitness backgrounds. I've been training with Matt for about a year now and have been attending group classes at NW Fitness Project for a bit longer. As a personal trainer, Matt has consistently exceeded my expectations. I work as a mountain guide and lost a bunch of upper body strength after two expeditions to the Himalaya -- Cho Oyu and Chomolungma (Everest). Matt has accommodated my unusual work schedule, programmed for my esoteric fitness goals, and helped me get back into the best shape of my life. He goes the extra mile to research what types of movements and adaptations are worthwhile to train and is extremely receptive to feedback. I cannot recommend him enough, whether you are trying to lose a few pounds or tackle a big athletic endeavor. The group fitness class are also amazing. As co-owners of the gym, Matt and Kyle have created a welcoming and supportive environment that transforms each of us into athletes for these well-programmed and challenging group fitness classes. While the classes are well-attended, Matt and Kyle are able to provide individual feedback and encouragement throughout the class. This is my regular dose of metabolic conditioning and HIIT. More...

I get my smartest workouts here. All the reviews are spot on. I just started the group training classes 3-4 weeks ago and I already feel the difference both physically and mentally. The exercises are always thoughtful and interesting, Matt and Kyle care deeply about your form and posture, and I even feel like the warmups and warm downs are smarter. I’m always excited to work out and the people energize me. Half the battle is just showing up, and Kyle and Matt make that part super easy. More...

I was able to get in a couple group workouts while visiting the area from out of town. The facility is new with top notch equipment. The classes were conducted by Kyle, one of the owners, and I had a blast! Kyle is very knowledgeable and has great enthusiasm for training his clients. The group classes were challenging enough, and Kyle was very in tuned to injury prevention and modifying the workouts to fit each client as needed. Highly recommend this gym! More...

Matt and Kyle are the most dedicated, energetic, and overall outstanding fitness professionals you will find. As a sports-oriented chiropractor I have full confidence that my patients are in good hands at the gym when they are working with Matt, Kyle, or any other trainer I have seen train at NW Fitness Project. This gym is fantastic in all the right ways. I followed my (amazing) trainer Amanda Ford here last year. The truth is I would have followed her wherever she went, but I am really glad she chose NW Fitness Project. The owners and other trainers are always kind and encouraging. Now that I know they stand up for what is right, I admire them even more. The space is clean, bright, top-notch with all the fun equipment and "toys" you could want...Amanda concocts new creative workouts each week and names them after strong women in history...just another fun thing. This is a wonderful business, I'm glad to be a client here! More...

I’ve worked out with Matt Holland for nearly 10 years and have followed him through multiple moves to different locations. Through injuries, training successes, ebbs and flows, life changes, on call, post call, fresh as a daisy or a limp wet noodle, Matt has supported and challenged me. He’s always on the leading edge of his field. What he and Kyle are doing is game changing because rather than catering to a specific type of training or athlete, they’re directing health, wellness, challenge and progress on the unique goals of their clients. Of all shapes sizes and abilities. I’m more proud than ever to stand with him, Kyle and the positive community they’ve assembled. More...

This gym is a gem. It is bright and clean with terrific equipment. The folks who work here are not smarmy, they are genuine. It is also free of judgement. I have worked with a various trainers over the years and Matt is wonderful. He and the others offer a holistic approach that is individualized and targets nutrition, physical issues, motivation and goals.
This is all really important as so many people end up dropping out if the trainers don't really "get" the person they are working with. I also really appreciate that they are very professional and safe (I'm a healthcare provider and there are trainers out there that are truly unsafe).

As someone who is athletically challenged, terrified of trying anything new, and is borderline phobic of weightlifting - I’m proud to say in just a month’s time this place feels like home. The owners, the people who attend, everyone feels like family. It is the least judgmental gym I have ever been to, Kyle (and the other trainers), know the human body so well. They know when to push and when to give you modifications (or tell you no when you ask for modifications for not-so-legit reasons like being hungover). I’ve never had a better work out but also never felt more safe pushing myself. It’s 100% a testament to the outstanding leadership that is demonstrated every day.

I can’t recommend NW Fitness Project enough. They are truly the best.

I have trained with Kyle for over 11 years. I have followed him from the Shoreline 24 hour fitness to the downtown one, then Lake Union and finally Northwest Fitness Project in Fremont. My loyalty to Kyle stems from having had very negative experiences previously with trainers. I remember 11 years ago, when approached at the gym about working with a trainer, I replied, "Do you have anyone who isn't an asshole?" Kyle was the answer to my path back to my health and self-confidence. Kyle used positive encouragement, healthy structure and realistic goal setting. With Kyle's knowledgeable and compassionate support, I eventually ran my first 5K and sprint triathlon, but more importantly, I found my inner strength and courage to break old ways of behaving and thinking that kept me stuck. Through the years with Kyle, our training has evolved along with his continued education and skill. I find so much fun and joy working out in his functional fitness groups. I have made life long friendships in the process. I have seen Kyle's business grow from being a personal trainer at the gym to being a successful business owner providing a valuable service in the community. He is an example of positivity, determination, integrity and above all respectfulness. I have nothing but appreciation and loyalty for knowing a person like Kyle Davis and being blessed to call him my trainer and friend. More...

I love that they can open up the garage door for fresh air and a connection to the world, the music is fun, the one on one training is focused and inspiring. This is one of the best gyms you'll find in Seattle and you should check it out.

The workouts are different each day, are tough but fun and interesting and the format makes the time go by quickly. I appreciate the time management of the class -- workouts start on time and I feel like every last minute is used well to help me get an awesome workout. Warm ups and cool down stretches are tailored to the muscles used in the workout.

The coaches have known my name since my first day, are knowledgeable and friendly and always go the extra mile -- sometimes workouts and playlists are even themed with whatever is going on that week (Game of Thrones finale, Superbowl, etc.). They spend just the right amount of time explaining how to do the movements correctly, know what weights each individual should use, and give you lots of support during the workout to make sure you don't get hurt and are pushing yourself to work as hard as you can. High fives, dad jokes and some silliness are a part of the deal.

The facility is beautiful and clean and equipment is nice and new. They have lockers, 2 restrooms and 2 showers, and garage doors that let the fresh air in on a nice Seattle day.

Other gym members I have met are friendly and encouraging. People of all ages, shapes, sizes, colors, and experience levels are welcome here and it's a positive and respectful atmosphere.

Each workout is challenging (the most challenging classes I’ve taken in Seattle), different (so you never get bored), and designed to prevent injury.

One of the best things about NWFP is that every workout can be as hard as you want to make it. And you can get a hardcore workout without the attitude, egos, or intimidating atmosphere.

I've been to a lot of gyms. I've done a lot of fitness things. I've tried your typical all-in-one gym. I've done crossfit and krav mega. I've been to YMCAs, corporate gyms and had personal trainers. And I can honestly say that while they all have their place depending on your goal in life, I have never had the community at a gym like I have at NW Fitness Project. Small group training seems to be my perfect jam, as it allows for the focus of personal training, but with the competitiveness of a group class or race. Our class session warmups feel more intense than most other workouts I've done, and every member is there to push and support and help every other member, regardless of where they're at in their fitness journey. Matt and Kyle are so friendly, helpful, and experts at what they do. I can't imagine myself anywhere else, and I doubt anywhere else would have me feeling as strong as I do now.
