10/10. Great portions, great tasting food. Friendly and comfortable service in a nice, clean restaurant. Locally owned and really great food. Would recommend to anyone

This is the ONLY locally owned restaurant in the Medford area my wife and I actually enjoy frequenting. The food is consistently good (wouldn't say great cause we've had tastier Hawaiian fusion food outside the Southern Oregon area obviously), the staff is attentive (but not pushy or annoying) and when Carol is there, she makes you feel comfortable and right at home! It's rare to visit a place where not only the food is good but the ambience is as well.Do try their upside down pineapple bundt cake! Absolutely delicious, including their kimchi! More...

Stopped in for dinner bc they have outdoor seating out front. Street parking available on a busy street. Got their smoked pulled pork plate. Good portion but the steamed broccoli side was still raw. Pork was on the saltier side. Two flies kept hanging out while we ate our meal on this 90 degree day. It was filling overall. More...

I eat here often. Having grown up in Hawaii, I know good Hawaiian food and siblings Ed and Carol do it right. Don't be put off by the menu's listing of "pulled pork". This is really good Kalua Pig! Hulihuli Chicken, authentic Loco Moco, Teriyaki Beef, Kim Chee, Hawaiian Sun drinks, and real Island Style Curry, all served with Aloha, make a homesick kama'aina feel back in the islands. Also, they make Hawaiian style sticky rice and good macaroni salad, which make all the difference. More...

A friend took me there for lunch; not open for dinner.  The place was clean and neat but not impressive - low key Hawaiian decor.  The owner Susan? was friendly, personable and the only one working out front.  Went at 11:30am and it filled up quickly with mostly haoles who must love local Hawaiian food.I ordered the teriyaki pork plate ($10) and was very happy with the taste and tenderness of the pork - thin cut slices over the cabbage salad,  and for me, enuff for two meals with rice and mac salad using Best Foods mayo.  If you're from Hawaii...you ONLY use Best Foods!!  I thought $2.50 was a bit high for tea but....I will go there again  and try some of their Kalbi. Susan is Korean so you know it's authentic.P.S. if you're in Honolulu, must go to Wayside Inn for Hawaiian plate - the place is PACKED &  the portions are over the top! - real local style.  (I don't have any connection with this place :-))Aloha,PPS.  I moved from Hon last year and now living and loving Medford and Oregon...beautiful mountains...lots of rivers...good roads/streets...traffic is light and freeway near to go exploring and I love the changes in weather... If you're looking for a solid lunch place w consistently flavorful, fresh food you gotta put Sunrise on your list. Add to that, a great family run atmosphere where costumer service and hospitality make you feel at home then pepper in their community involvement and you have a recipe for success. Which is why sunrise has been doing Medford proud for years. Ed and Carol have yet to disappoint... I've never personally met someone who disliked or had a bad experience at SC. They've got the typical Hawaiian plate lunch on lockdown... available w 1,2 or 3 meats. Then there's  the requisite loco moco, yakisoba, and Portuguese sausage dishes that really drives home the Hawaiian style. I'm not a hater of no-hos, it's decent and open for dinner... But when I've got the choice, it's Sunrise till the sun sets. More...

I guess I'm a sucker for Hawaiian food, because I have a hard time finding things wrong with all of the Hawaiian restaurants I have had the pleasure of enjoying in Southern Oregon. .. The Sunshine Cafe is no different! Giant delicious portions! Me and my girl both got the two meat combo lunches, so we shared four different meats... The chicken Katsu was on par with others I've had... The Huli Huli chicken had an awesome Smokey taste... The pulled pork was a touch dry, but had a great taste to it... And our favorite was the Korean bbq pieces, spicy and full of flavor! The Mac salad was creamy and better than any of the other Hawaiian joints I've visited (not that they aren't good at other places)... Choice of white or brown rice finished off the plates, and I usually do one scoop white and one scoop of brown rice for a good balance of flavor...The place is super casual with cliche' Hawaiian decorations donning the walls... The ladies that were working treat the restaurant like their home, and in most case that would be a huge turn off... But in this case, it added to the super casual homely feel that I rather enjoyed! Bottom line is, hit this spot... Its well worth it! ***Eat Local*** More...

On a road trip up the west coast and found this treasure based on other yelp reviews. My family and I have been in Hawaii withdrawal and wanted some authentic eats. .. the reviews did not steer us wrong! We knew ahead of time that we'd be arriving in Medford past regular open hours, so we called in our order from the road. (Call by 3 pm to p/u before 6) Terry took our order and they were actually planning on closing a little early, but she was super gracious, and they waited for us to arrive from 2.5 hrs away! When we finally got here, Terry greeted me with a big smile & welcomed me in. Carol, the owner/chef was in the kitchen cooking up our order of Huli Huli Chicken & Chicken Katsu. They were so kind to have it freshly cooked and warm for us after a long drive with two little ones. Enjoyed my friendly chat with Terry while waiting for our food. We brought the meal back to our hotel and it did not disappoint! The chicken, brown rice, mac salad & lots of sauce definitely brought us back to the islands. Authentic and delicious! Thumbs up from all 4 of us (including the 5 yo & 1.5 yo!) There was more than enough food to fill our hungry appetites & it really the spot. We will definitely come back when we get the chance! I attended a college with a large population of students from Hawaii, and in those four years I learned a thing or two from them about what good Hawaiian food should taste like. If you are looking for some ono grindz, you are in luck, because this is the spot. Their $5 bowls are perfect for grabbing a quick lunch, and it is always more than I can eat in one sitting. The Huli Huli chicken is always perfect, not too dry, and I am a sucker for katsu chicken, which they do quite well. For me, though, the real test is always the mac salad, and Sunrise Cafe's is always spot on! I could eat an entire bowl of it and not regret a single bite! Sometimes I order a second side of mac salad just so I can eat it later on in the day. The whole staff is super friendly and many of the customers tend to be regulars. Combine these two elements and people get chatty, which can slow the process down at times, but the relaxed environment of the place makes up for it. Carol and Ed have a good thing going on, and I'm glad it's going on in Medford. More...
