Great, helpful staff. Lots of options, lots of fun, great for making special memories & gifts, and lead-free glazes too. They work w/ vacationers if you can't return for follow up glazing & take home. Was a real blessing for our family after such a long hard year at City of Hope! Thank you ACP studio staff! We can't wait for our handmade pottery to arrive home:) More...

My daughter's class had a field trip to the studio and I was really impressed with how well the staff did having 9 kids to teach all at the same time. The kids made boxes and they were able to use any of the tools and molds they could see to decorate the boxes. They let the kids make a mess and they got involved in the whole process. I will definitely be back . More...

Anam-Cre is the best!  If you've ever wanted to learn how to work with clay, this is the place!  If you've ever wanted to return to clay after a long absence, this is the place!  The possibilities are endless, materials abundant, and staff know their stuff.  The teachers are patient, friendly and helpful.  Prices are very reasonable.  Buying a card of ten 2 hour lab times is a great bargain.  Workshops taught by well known potters are also offered if you want to step beyond your skill level.  My kids and grandkids love to come in and glaze a ready-made piece or get a lesson on the wheel when they come to town.  Shevon runs a wonderful business and Chloe and Delani are great assistants. I came in on a Friday for the adult beginner's class and I had a great time! Chloe was very hands on and was so encouraging. Even the other people using the space there were helping me which was wonderful because I wasn't feeling confident. I made three pieces while I was there and definitely want to go back. More...

Checked out a pottery studio in San Luis Obispo- and it was definitely a learning experience! The only pottery experience I have it from high school ceramics years ago, so it was fun to re-learn old tricks and learn new tips. I made a small jewelry plate with flower imprints and three bowls/cups that ended up being an odd size for bowls or cups- so I want to use them as succulent pots. It ended up being two sessions (one for making the pottery, one for glazing it) so it was a little more pricy than I thought it would be. I did enjoy all the options of patterns, glazes, clay, etc. It's a cute studio and it's always fun to see what other people are making as well! More...

What an amazing place! Shevon and Chloe are wonderful and helpful. Not only do they teach you the basics but they also encourage you to explore all the possibilities that your imagination can dream up. From learning the pottery wheel to freeform and sculpting, there are people of all skill levels and everyone is so friendly and sharing techniques. It's my new favorite place to relax after a hectic week. More...

My little 8-year-old sidekick and I went to have our first experience with pottery. We both created a little bowl on the wheel and also created a little something at the tables using other dishes as patterns. My Little made something freeform using his hand as a pattern also. I think we chose the busiest day of the year to visit--it was the Saturday before Mother's Day.  The employees still took care of us--but I have to admit, I felt kinda like I didn't know what to do next and a little more communication would have been helpful from my perspective. Overall, the employees who were spread thin that day seemed to be doing a good job meeting the needs of a very age-diverse clientele. One 3-generation family visiting the same time as us ranged in age from a few weeks to grandma and grandpa. We all seemed to have fun in very close proximity of each other. The employee that we worked with the most closely seemed to sense that we were curious about the next steps of the process so she showed us the kilns and explained in child-friendly terms and pace what would happen to our pieces after we left.We plan to go back and finish our pieces with glaze and (I think?) paint. They didn't tell us how long they hold onto our pieces, but I called later. We have 3 months. I didn't realize that u pay per session time not per piece. So it didn't matter how many pieces we made, our sessions were $30 for ea of us separately ($60 total.) More...

By far the best form of stress release I've ever found. I find the greatest way to release stress is to do something enjoyable that requires complete focus. In yoga for example, your mind has the ability to drift. In pottery like motorcycle racing as soon as you loose focus you lose everything. This concentration will leave you feeling exhausted yet fulfilled. Artistically, spiritually, and socially.  What really makes this place special though is the staff. They are true artist and love to share their passion with you. Guaranteed no matter your coordination level these professionals can teach you to create something that will blow your mind the very first visit.  Wether you need a fun date night spot or a weekly practice I promise you won't regret going to Anam-Cre. SLO's best kept secret.  Amazing zen activity for moms (you can't worry about what is going on at home because you are concerned with how the glazes you have selected are going to come out after they are baked in the kiln! )  Excellent activity for kiddos/ my son made a heart and a little candy bowl, the bowl he hand formed on the potting wheel, he was so proud.  Shevon, owner is always there and supervises and directs.  So many options:  premade pieces to glaze or paint, roll your clay and form a piece, or sit at the wheel (my favorite, it's harder than it looks, which is half the fun...)  Everything you need.  The price of $30 is for your two hour slot, and I was amazed to find out that there was no extra charge for my handmade pieces (premade pieces are extra).  I hesitate to write this as I don't want this special place to become too crowded, but Shevon deserves to be recognized for running an amazing  show.  I have only been 4 times, but I am going to keep on coming back.  Xmas ornaments, platters, the possibilities are endless. Such a cute studio! If you're in the mood for color-me-mine style ceramic painting they got it here! They have many premade items to paint all of varying prices and styles/sizes. My. If was $20 with a $10 painting fee. You can paint when every they are open usually during a class. There were many colors to choose from, stencils, brushes, sponges, etc so you could really make something unique. My only complaint is that we didn't have enough time! But they were very accommodating and told us we could come back and finish any time. They will soon be offering drinks with your painting but on my visit they told us we could bring in a bottle of wine if we liked. I would definitely go here again! Me and my friends had a lot of fun and it has lots of resources and knowledgeable staff. More...

Two years ago my granddaughters, 7 and 8 then, had an amazing experience with clay at Anam Cre pottery studio in the Creamery. Shebon and her assistant made that a memorable experience. I collected the fired pieces and saved them. Today, my granddaughters now 9 and 10, and I went to the "new" Anam Cre on Monterey Street in SLO to paint those pieces. What fun! I do believe Anam Cre is permanently on our list of fun things to do when the girls visit. Shebon is wonderfully patient and helpful. She is an artist with clay and kids. So glad I found this place. I'm a far, far cray from being any kind of a pottery expert, but there's nothing quite like throwing a slab of clay on a wheel and making something. I nannied a kid in SLO and every week we would go to the youth class here. They had a variety of clays to work with, adequate work space, lots of tools and paints. The staff are super friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. If you want to make your artistic vision a reality, come to Anam-Cre. More...
