Where to start? I’ve taken not one, but TWO private lessons with Juliette, and Xio was present for both lessons, and served as our model, and both experiences were FIRE from start to finish. My first one-on-one was in Hoboken, and the second I arrived, I was made to feel welcome and comfortable. Immediately, Juliette and Xio sat me down and gauged where I was at within my career and artistry, and asked me what I wanted to get out of the day. We spent a couple hours talking all things business-related and their advice and insight was, and still remains, invaluable. I felt so blessed to have both of them weighing in on how I could be a better business owner. After that, we moved onto the makeup portion of the lesson, when Juliette did Xio’s makeup, and, as expected, I was blown away. Juliette’s techniques are second to none and she truly teaches you how to layer, build and create a transformational look that’s going to last bride’s and client’s all day. Juliette also reviewed her entire kit with me, giving her reason and rationale behind every product she keeps in her kit. Her kit will also blow you away because I can assure you, it’s a lot smaller, and way more condensed, than you’ll ever think! She truly has a method to her madness! After my first lesson with Juliette and Xio, I remained in contact with both of them, and, let me tell you: they are the nicest, most supportive, most humble, down-to-earth women you’re ever going to meet. These two are wildly successful, and deservedly so, but, you would never know minus their insane style and knack for all things amazing skincare and perfect hair (they’re goals!)! Still, they keep it as real as real can be and truly strive to support everyone and anyone who crosses their paths. I’ve only ever met these two women twice, and I mean it when I tell you I love and adore them and get so excited anytime they reach out, or like one of my posts, etc. For my second lesson, Juliette and I got right to work, and I shadowed and mimicked everything she did using Xio as our model. As an artist, Juliette is constantly evolving, growing and bettering herself, and she’ll take you along for the ride, willingly sharing every trick and technique she finds worthy. Bottom line, AMA is worth it. Xio’s worth it. Juliette is worth it. The experience you’ll gain and the insight you’ll glean will be second to none and you’ll walk out of there feeling eternally grateful to have learned from one, or both, of these women, or any of their other pro artists. They’ve built an empire and once you meet them, it’ll be clear to see just how and why. These girls are literally phenomenal! Juliette is amazing at doing both hair and makeup and made me look like a princess on my special day. Not only is she great at what she does, she is a great person to be around and someone you can definitely trust, which to me, is of utmost importance on your wedding day. AMA is the TRUE definition of a GLAM SQUAD. These girls showed up looking like straight bosses and you can tell they really love what they do, and that shows through their work. Not only do they come with a team of artists, they come with two extra girls who took pictures and were there to do anything we asked (Xio, you are amazing at what you do ;)) Not to toot my own horn or anything but my hair and makeup were literally fabulous and my bridesmaids were the sexiest bridesmaids you've ever seen! I cannot begin to talk about how thankful I am for everything I've learned here at AMA! I came here as a complete beginner that was too scared to even experiment with eyeshadow. I've always loved makeup (and hoard the stuff) but I never did makeup on anyone but myself. In this express course, I've completely transformed the way I do makeup and I'm proud of the work I do now. I started AMA on September 17th and I just graduated 2 weekends ago. In the short amount of time I was there, I learned so much. Not just about makeup application but about the beauty industry itself and how to become successful in your passion and career as a makeup artist and how to stand out in what has become such a competitive field. I can not thank the school and my teachers enough for working with me and helping me better myself as a makeup artist. They helped me become more confident in myself and my talent / skills. Someone had once told me that the journey is just as important as the destination. With that being said, I wanted to start my makeup career somewhere that was going to lead me off in the right direction.
The minute I walked into Artist Makeup Academy, (actually it might have been the second i saw the doors that had AMA written on them) I knew there was no other place that I would rather be.
Xio and Juliette are two of the most inspiring and motivating people I have ever come across. With the drive and talent of these two, they are the absolute definition of “sister goals” (forever wishing I had a sister but #AMAfamily got me covered.) Since the first time I met both of them, they have always wanted the best for not only myself, but everyone and anyone around them. They’re the type of people that can make you feel like you’ve known them forever and it’s only been like 5 minutes. The business that they have created is just as amazing as they are, and you will learn that very quickly. Not only are they straightforward and honest with everything makeup related, but also business related, and that is EXTREMELY important to know. Juliette is my Makeup Crush Monday everyday and if you have ever been lucky enough to see her in action like I have, you can see how absolutely mesmerizing the art really is. (#bae)
I was lucky enough to be in the day class that had a chance to see how every teacher worked and experience the different ways they taught. Elle was mainly my class's teacher and at first I was so nervous to show her my work, but after the first time she critiqued me, I couldn’t wait to see what she had to say. She was there to lift me up when I was frustrated or cheer me on when I was happiest. Looking at the difference between what I did the first day of school and the last day of school, is so bittersweet. It went by so quick and it is unreal how much I have learned.
All in all, if you’re looking for a sign to go to this school, this is it! The way I do makeup is different, the way I talk to people is different, the way I think about things is different, it changed my life for the better, and it can change yours too. I couldn’t wait to go to school everyday and hated Thursdays because that meant that I had to wait 3 more days before we had another class. I started off not knowing anyone, to leaving with two of my very best friends. Everything about my experience was so positive, that when I say I am never leaving, I’m really not leaving. AMA will always be my home, because it always has been. It has always been that place to do what I love while being accepted for who I am and for that I am so, so grateful. My journey may be just getting started, but even with being an AMA alumni, they make sure it never will be a dull moment so the destination is everything I thought it would be. I LOVE YOU AMA!!!!!

I honestly couldn't have wrote these reviews better my self!! I just started AMA last week and it was the best decision I've ever made in my life ! !! I'm here for a short time and don't want to leave . AMA REALLY does feel like a family . I've learned so much already in 4 days and have so much more to learn but I am so thankful for this class and all of the instructors they are amazing !!! I attended cosmetology school and it is nowhere compared to this school. I've never been so excited to go to school and learn more and more. if you want to learn makeup this is the exact place to be and I highly recommend taking these courses if you're interested in makeup. I can not say 1 negative thing about it. Not only are the instructors are amazing but the girls I have met are as well. Everything here is so positive and motivating and I don't think this school really knows how they change people's lives. I traveled all the way from Washington D.C. to enroll in AMA's summer course & it was the best decision I made. I am SO satisfied with all of the knowledge I learned. I didn't just get lessons on makeup application but the business side of the industry (which has helped so much!!). Once you graduate, you're still apart of the family. Which is just as significant as the makeup application itself! Xio is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. She is extremely busy, but will always take the time out of her day to answer messages from her current/graduated students. The level of professionalism in AMA is unlike any other school I toured. I wish I can stay an AMA student forever. We become a little family... I legit look forward to class every weekend. Juliette is a makeup god, I’m convinced! And it is wonderful that I was trained in her created curriculum.

I had the privilege of joining the AMA family and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. My entire life I’ve loved doing makeup and seeing peoples faces tranformed and their beauty enhanced. After having taught myself for years, I still had manyyyyy questions on how to perfect and better my skill. AMA surely had alll the answers!!! My teacher was amazing and had the knowledge and skill level I so long craved for. She taught me everything I wanted and needed to know. I graduated from the Freelance program and became certified, which was a dream I never even thought possible, as I am a doctor (MD). I was looking for the right Makeup school since 2010. I researched schools in New York and even a school close to Woodbridge, New Jersey where I live. Nothing ever jumped at me, they promised me that I would be ready to work a makeup counters at the mall as soon as I completed the course (something I didn't want to do). As I was about to given up on my dream of ever been a makeup artist. I came across AMA Artist Makeup Academy. I can't express how welcoming and honest Jules the owner, was with me and how the makeup industry really is. She always told me if you really want it and work hard at it you could make it. Love how positive she is and how the word Can't will no long be in your vocabulary. I could just keep going on and on. I can't thank AMA enough on how I've grown as an artist and all the amazing makeup sisters and brother I've made throughout my journey as an artist. AMA did the make-up for my mom, sisters and I for my wedding. We had a wonderful experience from start to finish. I can not say enough wonderful things about Juliette and her team. Juliette was very professional, caring and went out of her way to ensure I was 100% happy with my make-up on my wedding day. I absolutely loved my make-up which lasted all day without any air brushing. My sisters and mom loved their make-up as well.
