If you're looking to jump back in time to a classic diner with GOOD Bar-B-Q, this is the place to go. A great small business with awesome service and an atmosphere that makes this place feel like I'm eating in the comfort of my own home. I LOVE their unique barbeque sauce, and the portions here are more than enough to feed a single person (and I eat a LOT). Parking is a little tough, but this place is worth the small inconvenience. Haven't been here for a couple of years since we no longer live in the area. The food is as good as we remembered. Service is great. They now have hush puppies and serve beer. Wow, you caught me far away from my current home but at a place I've loved for 50 years. Allman's has the best barbecue in Fredericksburg. Maybe the whole East Coast! Barbecue on a bun, best Coleslaw on the East Coast, really good French Fries, and ice tea. Cozy little place. Seats maybe 20. Usually very busy, especially at lunchtime. I had not been to this old Americana family style restaurant in about a decade, but was pleasantly surprised that basically nothing had changed. The traditional southern cooking was evident in my mac and cheese and collard greens! And the pulled pork sandwich was absolutely delicious. Allman's continues to get it right when it comes to American barbecue. If you are visiting Fredricksburg, or even just passing by on I-95, it's definitely worth the stop (just 3 or 4 minutes from the exit ramp). I have been eating Allmans Barbecue for over 50 years and it's the best I have ever tasted . I live near Mechanicsville VA and try to get to Allmans at least monthly. A 50 mile drive is worth it.
