Saturday was our second time dining at Alexander's and it was just as wonderful as we remembered! We made a reservation (recommend) and were seated immediately. Seasonal martini, crab cakes, steaks, chocolate cake everything was made perfectly. My water glass never dipped below 50% full the entire meal. Both times we were there for almost 2 hours and it was so perfect and romantic. And the service is INCREDIBLE. It may be the best service I have ever had. We will be returning everytime we visit DC. We had a group of 10 and came on a Saturday night. There was also a wedding banquet going on in the large tent just outside. We did have reservations, however. Although the bar area was very busy, we were all served very quickly. Our table was also ready soon after we got our drinks, and the waitress took our orders not long after we got our menus. That's when things slowed down. Fortunately this was our annual trip together as 5 couples, so we had a great time visiting as we waited. When the food did arrive, it was fantastic! My steak was done to perfection and melted in my mouth. Everyone at the table was happy with their meal and although we were stuffed, we couldn't resist dessert. The NY Strip was literally the single best steak I've ever had the pleasure of eating. The chef must have the grill temperature and duration down to an absolute science. The grill marks, and carmelization of the sides were a sight to behold. I stared at the glistening piece of meat for some time before even trying it. The steak itself was tender, thick and juicy to the last bite. The Gorgonzola garlic butter on top was ridiculous. To sum up; just plain scrumptious. I'm 45 years old, live in Colorado and have been to several of the best steak joints the west has to offer. Alexander's beats them and charges half the price. I wish this place would move to Denver. BTW - Wifey devoured her Cherry BBQ Salmon dish while I was only halfway through the steak. Normally she lets me try a bite of her entree, but not this time.
