Al's was regular stop when the eldest three babyrats were growing up. They enjoyed large bags of goodness for birthdays and Christmas. Life goes on and Al's faded from memory.The Fetching Mrs. Rat and I were looking for grub in the strip mall and we saw Al's. We stopped in and found out Al is no longer and Steve now owns the joint. For old times sake we bought a bag of sea salt and cracked pepper and one of butter pecan. Both were pretty good for bagged popcorn. This is probably my favorite store in all of Columbus, possibly Ohio. I am serious, you walk in here and can try a sample (as many samples as you want) of different types of popcorn. All of them are delicious which is so difficult if you're indecisive like I am but the friendly and patient staff makes it a lot easier to decide. The bags are clear and beautiful and make amazing gifts on their own or in a basket. I will be back again and again because this is a local gem and everyone needs to try it out! Like everyone else here the reception I get is always friendly. I love how they entice me to try new flavors AND they make sure you don't buy too much by having display bags, a medium is huge! This is one of those places that I keep going by but never take the time to go in- then regret the time lost.  I love popcorn, and knew this was a "gourmet popcorn" place, but was skeptical, mainly due to the mall it's in.  But there are some hidden gems here, so it's worth poking around the mall and having some good food.Al's has a large selection of flavors, and assorted tins, etc., to put them in if you're all fancy.  I just wanted popcorn, and they sell it in bags.  Big bags.  I saw the prices and got a couple of medium bags for about $10 each, thinking they would be roughly the size of a bag of chips, maybe a little overpriced but worth the splurge for some nice flavors.  Well, I should have checked out the bag sizes on the wall, because smalls would have been plenty.  Two mediums is a ton of popcorn, even for a family and with some sharing at work.  Large and extra large are massive.I got pistachio, and vanilla butternut.  Both flavors are excellent.  The kernels are big and puffy, and the corn is so good I had a hard time stopping myself from eating and eating.  Service was very good, prices are excellent for the quantity and quality, and I will be back for more soon.  They have a few pops and candies, if you need to cover all the food groups. I've lived close for a few years and never knew this was here! The flavors are vast and good! They do offer "tours" but it's more of a homemade video of advertising and some tastings. Kids 5 and up might enjoy it! We had a preschool group and it was too long and not interesting for them, the ladies who work there seem nice but I don't think they knew how to talk to kids and I found them to be a little unfriendly to the kids. This place is utterly amazing. I love popcorn, and I love interesting flavors, and this place combines the two with mastery. I took the kids I work with on a field trip, and out of the 10-15 flavors I ended up getting to try, there were only a couple I wasn't excited about (mainly because they were just too sweet - they tasted like what they were supposed to taste like, but super sweet isn't my bag). The cookies and cream is delicious, the vanilla butternut is wonderful, and the Bacon and Cheese (my favorite) was scrumptious. The price is also very reasonable for what you get. Those five stars are a big deal coming from me. You see, I'm no popcorn connoisseur and I actually don't even really like popcorn. Especially the cheap microwave stuff or movie theater popcorn. The only reason I stopped by Al's one day was because my husbands favorite snack is popcorn and his birthday was coming up so I thought I'd check it out. That was over a year ago and I've been back for every special occasion since then or pretty much any other excuse for popcorn. I LOVE al's popcorn. When you walk in you're greeted by super friendly staff who will let you sample any flavor. And there are a LOT of flavors. The small bags range from 3-5ish dollars, but the small bags are enough to keep two or three people satisfied on movie night. Some of the favorites in our house are Columbus mix, sinfully chocolate (I die. Once I start eating it I can't stop), white cheddar, and buffalo bbq or something like that-don't remember the exact name. I've never tried the fruity flavors but there is an entire menu of those as well. So, even if you're not a fan of popcorn, Al's is certainly worth a try. More...

The popcorn really is delicious & each flavor genuinely tastes like its description. Today we tried pizza, cookies 'n creme, watermelon, buffalo ranch, jelly bean, & a few others. Apple pie was my favorite & my kids loved watermelon. My sister has lived near here for quite some time and it's something I genuinely look forward to every trip home to Ohio. We've had a sheet going for quite some time now on ones we've tried/liked/hated and don't plan on stopping any time soon . Okay first off: awesome and unique selection.  Smores is my favorite and I can't get enough.  I've also tried rice krispie treat (good, but they should use more marshmallow), apple pie (cinnamon and caramel), cookies and cream (tastes good, but not very cookies and cream like), vanilla butternut (roommate's favorite), and I bought jalapeno (good for someone who likes heat! ). I'm a transplant to the area, and I've said more than once that one of the few good things I can find about this town is a little shop in a strip mall that sells popcorn.  There are more choices than you could possibly ask for, and their prices are lower than other boutique-type popcorn shops.  Your 10th "small" bag, or a combination of other sizes amounting to the same quantity will get you a free bag if you have one of their business-sized cards.  I've never once been disappointed with what we've bought from them.  We take some back home on holidays and have taken some to family down in Tennessee.  Everyone loves it when we bring Al's.I see more than one review about curt service from some of the employees.  I've seen that, too.  But I've also seen people stand there and leisurely peruse the menu, oblivious or indifferent to any other customers in line behind them.  Worse yet, I've seen whole families come in there and ask for free samples of numerous different flavors, only to leave the store without spending a single dollar.  I've even stopped in during the Christmas season on Sunday, when they are normally closed but the "Open" sign is lit.  They work the extra day trying to get orders shipped out for Christmas (yeah, they do that also) so they unlock the doors for regular business since they're there.  Generally, they're very friendly but always very busy, and they do seem to appreciate an organized customer who makes it easier for them to provide service to everyone. I actually came here to get some gifts for one of my customers for work as I drove by and thought it was a good idea.  I had not been to this Popcorn place for a long time.  I had a person there pick out some tins and the flavors.  I then delivered it to my customers and they opened some and they were going crazy...  Moaning and groaning about how good the popcorn was so I tried it and WOW.  AMAZING!!!  I went back at the end of the day and got my wife and I a couple tins and all I can say is each flavor is better than the rest.  When you open the tin you just want to curl up with a blanket, watch a movie and eat some amazing popcorn.This place has great popcorn and this is also great for gifts for customers or friends and family.  They all will enjoy it and so will you.Enjoy what you eat and enjoy your life!!! If you love gourmet flavored popcorn you need to try Al's.  Am obsessed with this place and brought home a ton of popcorn for gifts. Unless you are looking for it, the place is easy to miss.  It is in a strip mall with a Cosi restaurant that sits by the road.I already knew they offered 30+ flavors since I went on their website before hand to see what they offered.  TIP: go onto the website before coming so you can get an idea of what you may want/want to try, it is overwelhming if you don't.I knew I wanted to try the apple pie and caramel apple.  Liked the caramel apple which was green apple popcorn and caramel corn.  Didn't care for the apple pie.Went here twice in 1 week.  During the first trip, picked up a small bag of PB&J (real peanut butter covered popcorn with grape jelly and strawberry jam popcorn, vanilla butternut, toffee walnut and caramel apple and 2 mini bags of cherry and jelly bean which is a combo of all the fruit flavors- beware this bag is bright with all the rainbow colors.  On the 2nd trip picked up mini bags of cherry cola, PB&J, pistachio and toffee walnut.  My favorite was the pistachio which tasted exactly like the green pudding.  The flavors of most the sweet ones are very bold and intense.Mini bags at $2.50/piece are the way to go if you want a lot of variety.  Small bags, which are not at all small are $4.75.  Prices are very reasonable for high quality gourmet popcorn and the flavor selections can't be beat. I had a coupon for $15 worth of Al's Delicious Popcorn that I had been putting off for some time because of how out of the way Bethel really is for me. (Factor in the semi-annual construction of 315 and It's a wonder why I ever consider going anywhere within the 270 loop at all.) But my coupon was close to expiration so I figured I'd force my boyfriend to take me.The store, as someone else noted, really is a bit larger than you'd expect. Larger than necessary, really. But they've found a way of filling it up with various displays of sports themed tins you can fill with popcorn. Go bucks, etc. Anyway, I ended up getting a medium bag ($8ish) of vanilla butternut, a medium bag of kettle corn and a small bag ($4ish) of rice krispy treat. I now have $20 worth of popcorn in my kitchen. That's $19 more worth of popcorn than I've eaten in the last five years. The vanilla butternut is delicious and hands down one of the most flavorful things I've eaten recently. The kettle corn doesn't really impress me but it's still good, and the rice krispy treat was delightfully marshmallow-y.I'd definitely be interested in going back again to try some of the other flavors, but I don't know if it's something I personally am willing to drive all the way out there for. They do have a website that ships everywhere-- I actually just used it to buy my dad a Buckeye tin full of scartlet and gray colored popcorn. Al's Delicious Popcorn is an addiction waiting to happen. If your salty-snacks tooth is as large as your sweet tooth, this place might just be heaven for you. Surprisingly spacious inside, Al's offers practically every sweet flavor of popcorn under the sun, with many vegan options to boot (the base popcorn is artificially flavored, and the obvious vegan flavors are indeed vegan, with only the alternate flavor base containing butter). If you don't know where to start, buy some low priced sample bags, or ask the knowledgeable and friendly staff. Al's also ships nationwide, with festive popcorn tins and gift ideas. They even sell "sides" like peanuts, a perfect accompaniment to most of their flavors.
