Hi! I've DJ’d hundreds of weddings (ceremonies and receptions), parties and corporate evenst and therefore know just what to do (including emceeing and coordinating the particulars of your event) and the right songs to play to make your event great. (See my reviews and video at www.PdxDJ.com). And this is all done within the parameters (out of all the possibilities and music styles you choose) that you then communicate to me via my Preferences forms that I email to you. Plus I can go over options with you.
But generally I just play the hits from the eras and styles you choose on my sheet, and just the ones that have proven to be the most danceable and that make it so people can't resist the dance floor :-) But you can also bring any CDs or iPods with songs that are your favorites … or I can purchase them ahead of time (no expense to you. But be sure that they are really danceable and really popular. Otherwise you risk the dance floor clearing – unless you just want them for listening or a special dance).
I’m not an overbearing DJ, but do interact with the crowd in a fun way if it feels right. You can see my song list and a video demo here. But I do bring over 5000 songs with me. If you want "lights," what I have works great and are a lot of fun. Plus they make the dance floor more inviting. You can see them in the video at my website.
And there are also the options of karaoke and/or live music (I've had an internationally bestselling CD as a sax player, which is good for dinner/cocktail music, and I'm a former member of The Tokens, the band who had the original hit The Lion Sleeps Tonight - which I sing). You can also see those in the video demo. Regarding the karaoke option, I have a pro setup and bring over 28,000 songs that are mainly just the hits from all eras and styles. Lights would be $50 extra, the live music and karaoke would each be $100 extra.
One thing to keep in mind regarding karaoke, is that my system is state of the art in that it is computer driven and not disc driven. That means the time between songs is much quicker. Also, the singers are given a professional treatment with recording studio equipment (compressor/limiter, reverb and digital delay) and therefore sound a lot better. And there is the option of wireless microphones or wired microphones, either on mic stands or hand held. And the display is a 23” HDMI flat screen. Plus I can get any special songs requested.
It should help your confidence in booking me to notice that I received the "Best of 2012 Award” by Gigmasters, and I’ve received “Elite Pro” status at Thumbtack as well as their Best of 2015 and 2016 Awards. I’ve also been the #1 DJ in Oregon at both of those websites, and at Gigmasters for over 5 years. That means that I’m a real client and crowd pleaser, given what they are looking for :-)
Thank you :-)

A.D. Entertainment Q&A
What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
Having done around 50 events per year, I know the exact songs that get people excited and dancing. And this includes all styles and eras.
How would you describe your ‘style’?
I only play songs that are really popular and really good for dancing. But if a client were to request songs that aren't popular or good for dancing, I usually play those during dinner (unless otherwise requested).
What do you love most about your job?
Making the crowd and the clients happy :-) And I do this by knowing what they want ahead of time, which they fill out in my Event Preferences forms.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I used to have one of the most popular live casuals bands in Los Angeles. But when I moved to Portland in 1990, agents encouraged me to be a DJ. I think that was a good move because I think that people like to hear songs exactly as they were recorded.
Why should our clients choose you?
Because I'm VERY experienced and a crowd pleaser (see my reviews). I'm a good MC as well as DJ, covering all the events at weddings for instance, so that the bride and groom can just have a good time, knowing that all the traditional wedding things that they choose on my Preferences forms are taken care of. I also offer the options of Karaoke (over 28,000 songs) and live music (I've had an internationally bestselling CD as a sax player, plus I was a member of the band who had the hit The Lion Sleeps Tonight, which I sing. All three of those options can be seen in my video demo).
