We started with a very hazy project brief. Following several discussions and an onsite visit, Jennifer helped us scope our project. We reviewed the draft proposal from Refresh Renovations at our next onsite meeting. Both Corey and Jennifer clarified our requirements to ensure understanding and, based on their experience, suggest improvements/changes. A document, with a scope of work (renovating the entire flat), timing and budget was finalised. They both demonstrated an understanding of our concern about overcapitalising within the project. This was illustrated through their sourcing suggestions for items such as a glass sliding door and window. Corey managed the overall project - coordinating the various trades, ensuring professional finishes and of course that all work was compliant. Jennifer particularly helped establish the ‘look’ with suggestions for colours, tiles, window treatments, flooring, furnishings etc to produce a cohesive, stylish yet livable unit. Progress reporting using Buildertrend worked very well as I was traveling, and we were away from Auckland for the duration of the project but we could easily see regular updates. Although we invested more than the original budget, this was due to changes we requested. I particularly appreciated Corey’s capacity and responsiveness in providing indicative costs for any additional work we thought about during the project - made it very easy for decision making. We undertook an extensive renovation on our 100 year old villa that needed repair and a redesigned layout. This involved a 12 month project with various changes/challenges along the way. The project was transparent and clearly communicated throughout, managed through online software. How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
Generally you'll need either A frame roof configuration or very high space at the center or roof. Its not always simple for eg if you have a tiled roof the shear weight of the tiles can mean structural alternations. We provide on site consultations and/or investigation by a licensed builder
