We entrusted Robert with our wedding day and the photos we received back surpassed all of our expectations. As well as being completely unobtrusive, Robert captured every aspect so that when we looked at the photos we could relive our special day moment by moment reflecting the mood and feelings. His skill with light and texture was evident in the many beautiful photos. His attention to detail is something we are still discovering as we look back moment by moment. To our relatives overseas, we could show what our day was truly like. Robert’s sensitivity and ability to listen to and interpret our wishes contributed to our great satisfaction. His humble approach belied the professionalism he brought to our wedding. We are so grateful that we found Robert. We now have the most beautiful memories to share and revisit.

Q&As

Taking a great photograph involves a combination of artistic vision, technical proficiency, and attention to detail. While photography is a subjective art form, here are some tips that can help you capture compelling images:

Composition: Pay attention to the arrangement of elements within the frame. Use the rule of thirds, leading lines, and symmetry to create visually pleasing compositions. Experiment with different angles and perspectives to add interest to your photographs.

Lighting: Lighting plays a crucial role in photography. Understand how light interacts with your subject and choose the appropriate time of day or artificial lighting setup to achieve the desired effect. Experiment with different lighting conditions to create different moods and atmospheres.

Focus and Depth of Field: Determine what should be the focal point of your image and use appropriate focusing techniques to ensure it is sharp and in focus. Consider the depth of field to control the amount of background blur or sharpness in your photograph, depending on the effect you want to achieve.

Timing: Be patient and wait for the right moment to capture your shot. Timing can make a significant difference, especially when photographing moving subjects or capturing fleeting moments. Anticipate the action and be ready to press the shutter at the decisive moment.

Storytelling: Great photographs often tell a story or evoke emotions. Consider the narrative or message you want to convey and try to capture it in a single image. Look for compelling subjects, interesting details, or moments of human interaction that can add depth and meaning to your photographs.

Technical Proficiency: Understand the technical aspects of your camera, such as exposure settings, aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Mastering these fundamentals will allow you to have more control over your images and make deliberate creative choices.

Post-processing: Use editing software to enhance your photographs. Adjustments to brightness, contrast, color, and sharpness can help bring out the best in your images. However, be mindful not to overdo it and maintain a balance between enhancing the photo and maintaining its natural look.

Remember, the secret to taking great photographs lies in practice, experimentation, and developing your own unique style. Take your camera with you wherever you go, observe the world around you, and keep honing your skills.

When starting a new project, it's important to gather information from the client to understand their requirements, goals, and expectations.

Technical Expertise: Clients value photographers who have a strong technical understanding of photography, including knowledge of lighting, composition, camera settings, and post-processing techniques. Highlighting your technical skills and experience can make you an attractive choice.

Creative Vision: Clients often seek photographers who have a unique and compelling artistic vision. Your ability to capture moments, evoke emotions, and tell stories through your photographs can set you apart from others. Showcase your portfolio to demonstrate your creativity and style.

Experience and Specialization: Clients may choose you based on your experience in a particular genre or niche of photography. Specializing in areas such as portrait photography, weddings, landscapes, product photography, or fashion can make you a go-to photographer for clients seeking expertise in those areas.

Professionalism and Reliability: Clients appreciate photographers who are professional, reliable, and organized. Being punctual, responsive to inquiries, and delivering on commitments can help build trust with clients.

Client-Focused Approach: Understanding and meeting the specific needs and expectations of clients is crucial. Clients value photographers who take the time to listen, understand their vision, and tailor their services accordingly. Being able to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients throughout the process can contribute to a positive client experience.

Positive References and Testimonials: Word-of-mouth recommendations and positive reviews from previous clients can be powerful in influencing a potential client's decision. Building strong relationships with your clients and ensuring their satisfaction can lead to referrals and repeat business.

Quality and Consistency: Delivering high-quality images consistently is key. Clients want to see evidence of your ability to consistently produce exceptional work. Showcase your best and most consistent work to give clients confidence in your skills.

Value for Money: While pricing is a factor, clients also consider the value they receive for their investment. Providing competitive pricing while delivering quality results can be an advantage.
