Why is it so important for businesses to hire a great accountant?
A great accountant is one who is truly interested in you and your business. Whilst the numbers are important, it is understanding profit/loss, cashflow, what drives and affects businesses and decisions that can really make a difference.
A great accountant works with you during the year and not only trying to 'fix' things after year end.
However, to make a great accountant even better, you need to communicate. We are very clever, but we can not read minds!. What is important to one client may be of no interest to another. So we need to have an open communication during the year. Yes, structured and regular meetings work, but we need you to put in that call or send that email when something comes up, a great idea or something that is bothering you. We generally work on a set fee for our services with calls and emails included in that fee. This is to encourage our Clients to call during the year and not worry about a invoice for a 15 minute call!
However, if the matter is a new area of business or tax issue, and is outside the general scope of advice, we would invoice this separately.
What do you love most about your job?
Our Clients. We are very fortunate to have our Clients. They are wonderful to deal with. It is truly a pleasure to work with all of them.
What inspired you to start your own business?
To be able to work with Clients.
With the client as the focus and not the firm or its partners as the focus.
Why should our clients choose you?
We are people people. We are interested in our clients and their businesses.
We tailor our services to the needs of our clients.
We do not dictate what our clients need in software used or style and timing of meetings etc.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
We offer our services online and remotely.
We also meet with our clients personally as required.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
We have been working remotely with our clients for over 10 years and hence have found Covid-19 and its restrictions a great endorsement for how we have operated with those clients needing remote access, such as via teleconferencing or video conferencing.
It has been interesting to watch some of the profession come into the 21st Century having to embrace these approaches, we have been working with for years.
