Tania has been experiencing the profound effects of Zen Shiatsu, Ryoho Yoga and corrective yoga counselling for over 34 years. She was lucky enough to be led to Andrzej Gospodarczyk (founder of Ryoho Yoga) when only 19 years old and has been experiencing first hand his amazing knowledge and therapy ever since. Tania owned and ran several businesses before finding herself in a position to start to study Zen Shiatsu Therapy with Andrzej in 1992, while continuing to do yoga classes. She then had two children and wanted to get back to do her Ryoho Yoga Training course. Tania completed her intense training in 1998 and continued to assist Andrzej in corrective yoga counselling for another 12 months whilst teaching at the Manly Ryoho Centre. Tania then had one more baby girl and kept an increasing following of yoga students on the Northern Beaches. She then founded the Newport Yoga Centre in 2000 with a great response.

Newport Primary School approached Tania to introduce a yoga programme, which has now become part of their curriculum. This wonderful programme has been running with incredible response from both parents and teachers for over ten years. Tania also trains and mentors the top athletes at the Newport Surf Life Saving Club, and works with children and adults with special needs. Tania completed a Radiant Child Yoga Programme with Shaktur Khaur Khalso and continues to further educate herself in her passion of Ryoho Yoga Therapy, nutritional counselling and food for medicine. Tania holds Day Yoga and wholefood cooking retreats from her beautiful home on Bungan Beach, sharing her expertise in wholefood cooking with the community. Now the mother of three wonderful children, Tania loves her life and the opportunity to share all this with all of you.

ZOOM YOGA CLASSES & VIMEO RECORDED CLASSES
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Newport Yoga Centre adapted to working from home. We’ve been hosting online Zoom classes to clients all over the world, from Australia to New York. It’s been a beautiful opportunity to re-connect with clients who might have moved away from Newport but have craved their Ryoho Yoga Therapy and to continue supporting the physical and mental well-being of our clients during the uncertain time.

We’ve loved it so much, we decided to continue. Make sure you make the most of these dynamic classes available at your disposal!

How does the Vimeo recording work?

We record each Zoom class and upload them to our Vimeo account
- If you can’t make the live class, or prefer practicing more often, we can send a Vimeo recording to you of any class you desire
- Our Vimeo’s all have a password authentication, you will be given access for 24 hours, but if you require an extension, just ask!
- You can book a Vimeo at any time. Some people would like to practice on a Sunday, so they pre-book a Vimeo. We ensure it’s a class they haven’t practiced with us yet.
- Some people have opted to go on Vimeo programs, so they get e.g three classes per week on a Sunday to practice on their own schedule for the week.

PRIVATE ZOOM YOGA CLASSES
Private Zoom Classes are also available world-wide.

A little over a year ago, I started noticing an aggravating pain in my left upper arm, especially over-extending into the fridge. I let it go on for about three months, slowly getting worse, I couldn’t put my regular knapsack onto my back, or zip myself up. Grimacing became my new facial expression, not ideal for the lines already etching their way into my visage.
My first port of call was diagnostic. My results came back: Adhesive Capusilitis or ‘Frozen Shoulder,’ a common condition in bodies over 50. Hate that type of ageist diagnosis. Give it time (about two years), and it will fix itself but not without complications. You may not get your full movement back in the arm. I decided to go to a chiropractor for ‘Cold Laser Treatment.’ A few thousand dollars into it, I switched to acupuncture, still no noticeable results.
When Covid-19 hit us in March, my dear friend Tania Elder from Newport Yoga Centre took her business online, and the penny dropped: ‘I can do private classes with Tania even though I live in New York City.’
One week in, I could feel the movement returning to my arm. Little by little, I started throwing my backpack on, and within four weeks, I could do up my bra, previously an excruciating task.
Tania tailored the classes to my specific needs, and she also understood that the injury needed a whole-body approach to make a difference to my progress. I’m still working with Tania and getting stronger every week, not only related to my arm. Her style of yoga has emotional, mental, and physical benefits. As the flowers bloom in Spring and the leaves fall off the trees in Winter, our bodies react too. We are all part of the natural world and our diet should support us through each Seasonal change.

HOW DOES IT WORK
There are FIVE ELEMENTS in the function of the Human body.

Each Element relates to a pair of organs. There are FOUR Seasons and the fifth Element connects the other four. As the seasons change, each set of organs will have a time of expression in the human system. It is easy to understand if we look at Autumn, the time of METAL or Lung and Large intestine. As Winter sets in most people experience colds, flus and runny noses – all relating to the lung function and large intestine strength during Autumn. The stronger these 2 organs are the less likely you are to become ill with the sniffles. TANIA ELDER will teach you which foods support you during which Season as you participate in the week long Intensives.

All Yoga classes will focus on the needs of the organ systems dominant during each Season of the year.

Winter: water – kidney bladder
Spring: wood – liver and gall bladder
Summer: fire – heart and small intestive
Autumn: metal – lung and large intestine.
And the fifth element of earth – spleen & stomach links all the others.

COOKING CLASSES – PRIVATE
De-frosting, microwaving and heating packet dinners IS NOT COOKING. As more of these foods are consumed the health of our whole society has deteriorated. Not to worry, Tania Elder will teach you all you need to know.

This includes shopping for the best organic produce, dry goods and condiments to make your family delicious healthy meals which HEAL your digestive system and bring the organs to a level of functioning you will not have felt for years.

Tania teaches WHOLE FOOD NUTRITION from the glorious location of her own kitchen overlooking Bungan Beach. Whether you wish to learn via A PRIVATE one on one environment, or you would like to get a group of friends together and make your cooking class a social event – these cooking classes will set you off on a whole new direction, in terms of what you eat, and more importantly, what not to eat.

Easy to follow take home notes & recipes are provided for all workshops & retreats.

COOKING CLASSES – GROUP
As each season changes Tania Elder holds workshops designed to show her clients how our food requirements change with the seasons. Lighter, pickled foods for Summer and hearty, slow-cooked casseroles for Winter. Not only are these workshops informative; they are fun, and a bounty of food and recipes are yours to take home with you, along with your new-found knowledge that will last you a life time.

Tania is also very experienced in the application of food-based medicines and remedies for everyday ailments. Tania will show you how to use plant-based remedies for issues such as colds, sore throats, sprained ankles, ear infections, kidney and gall stones as well as those for babies and children which will HAVE NONE OF THE SIDE EFFECTS that pharmaceutical drugs do. All Tania’s remedies are tried, tested and proven and have absolutely NO TOXIC effect on the human system.
