Myck helped us with a new company branding (logo, website graphics and animations). He has always been enthusiastic, professional, and never missed a deadline. However, I think his greatest strength is his ability of quickly conceptualizing an idea, and then going above and beyond the brief to deliver something exceptional each time. We will definitely continue to work with Myck on future projects. More...

Myck - what can I say - he really knows great design!! We have now used Myck for our website design and multiple graphic design jobs.
His professionalism and ability to intuitively know how to present design to our patients and customers is something that I have not experienced from other designers before.
If you are looking for someone who knows what they are talking about then get in touch with Myck.

We were lucky enough to have Myck work with us on new retail product development, from concept to reality. Myck is a wealth of knowledge in everything graphics and packaging design, understands consumer impact and behaviour, and guided us along the whole process.
Myck also helped us to "rebrand" and modernize our business logo, and update our existing retail products.
Highly recommend Myck, very personable, knowledgeable and offered us a flexible service in line with our needs. We will continue to use Myck for future projects.

Describe your creative process.
So, how’s this all going to start?
Here’s a quick overview of the steps taken throughout a design project.
The design brief
Compiled from a Q&A session with the client, a design brief clarifies what needs to be done, keeps the project on track, and saves time for everyone involved. Areas considered include corporate profile, market position, current situation, communication background, communication message, target market, objectives, schedule and deadline.
Research, brainstorming
Time is spent reviewing the brief and asking followup questions before beginning more thorough research and brainstorming. Taken into account are a client’s competitors, market trends, product or service differentiators, the history of the business, the future, the current brand, and brand aspirations.
Sketching
Using a pencil and paper helps generate a strong set of possible directions. The alternative of a mouse and computer adds an extra level of restriction that hinders creativity. Most sketches are eventually made redundant, but the point is to explore as many directions as possible before narrowing it down to two or three of the strongest ideas.
Rendering
Those effective ideas are then developed in digital format. The rendering stage involves transferring these options to Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and/or InDesign and printed to PDF for the presentation.
The presentation
Each design is shown in context using digital mock-ups (i.e., in situations where the design will be used upon project completion — on a phone app, billboard, signage, clothing, etc.). Then it’s over to the client to consider the designs and prepare feedback based upon how the ideas fulfil the brief.
Tweaks and finishing touches
This involves finalising an option or making revisions until exactly the right direction is reached. The aim is to create a solution that visually communicates the message from the brief to the target market that results in the objective being met or exceeded.
Approval
Approval must be made via email or in-person with a reference to the approved version of the artwork. Once approved the design will then be finalised ready for despatch, ensuring all colours, fonts and images meet the required guidelines.
Artwork supply
The artwork is supplied via email and/or made available for download. Specific file requests can be catered for. If the final artwork requires further work from another supplier, i.e. printers. The artwork will be set up to the required specifications and sent there directly.
After service
The offering doesn’t end once artwork is supplied and a client pays the final instalment. Should any design-related questions crop-up, I’m on hand to provide an answer or to offer assistance with design application.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
Before your project begins, you will receive a design questionnaire. Your answers will be used to form a design brief which clarifies what needs to be done, keeps the project on track, and saves time for everyone involved.
The questionnaire includes questions about your corporate profile, market position, current situation, communication background, communication message, target market, objectives, schedule and deadline.
You will also be required to sign a standard working agreement and payment of 50% of the project cost is required before your project can commence.
What do you love most about your job?
I love what I do and I do what I love.
I truly love using design to benefit businesses of all shapes and sizes. Freelancing enables me to provide a professional service I am proud of with the freedom to balance that time with the family I love.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I self-identify as a creative problem solver, with tools such as graphic design and web development at my disposal. I consider this an asset.
You’re hiring me for my abilities in design thinking and business consulting first, and my ability to creatively execute those ideas second. Towards that end, I value driving your business to become better, rather than mindlessly seeking beautiful design.
