I first met Lorin in 2007 when he spoke at a local primary school in the Southern Highlands. I took two of my students with vision impairment, who attended other schools (one 8 yo, the other 17).
Lorin’s humility & real-life stories were delivered in a clear, engaging, honest & captivating manner.
He spoke to the school community about what his life had been/& is like, living as a legally blind person.
This included how he taught himself to play guitar, with sheer determination & relentless practice demonstrating his extraordinary expertise with his guitar. He then described how he rode his bicycle to the coast one school holiday, then later in life across Australia, in tandem, with his brother, who us also vision impaired.
Lorin’s personable manner is palpable, he answered all questions from the children & then spoke individually with my students, engaging in relevant discussions with each of them.
Lorin continues to avail himself to this day, whenever I reach out to ask his opinion/knowledge on a range of issues that are pertinent to current students with vision impairment I work with as his are real, every-day relatable experiences.
He has many, many gifts, his generosity of spirit just one!

What do you love most about your job?
Most performers would all agree that it’s an absolute buzz getting up on stage to play guitar and to share inspirational life experiences and positive messages with our audience. There’s always an amazing feeling and something special that happens when you are able to captivate and connect with people. However what fills me with the greatest satisfaction as a motivational speaker, is meeting and hearing from so many inspired people, not just those immediately following the event, but the numerous positive messages from people of all ages – weeks, months and even years later, who have been truly inspired by my stories and life experiences being blind.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I started out running my own Remedial Therapy business in my early 20’s, which was a huge risk at the time. I’ve since learnt that taking risks is what life is all about. It was both challenging and rewarding, learning how to manage clients and run a viable business. It has taught me that the greatest investment you will make, is the investment within yourself. 30,000 clients later, I was invited out of the blue to give an inspirational talk to a group of school students. The overwhelming response from that 30 minute motivational presentation shocked us all, especially me. The deputy principal at the time said; Lorin you should be doing this. People need to hear your inspirational story. Since then I have now spoken in over 4000 keynote addresses and workshops to more than a million people. Self employment teaches you to work hard, believe in yourself, seek for constant improvement, overcome challenges and make the most of every opportunity before you.
